  1. Bad move with Alliance Van Lines.

Please guys, who ever trying to engage this mover please stay away to have your peace of mind. Everything went bad with the word 'go' right from the beginning. This move is about my household items.
    Sharing them for readers benefits:
    1. Did not picked up items on time
    2. Rude people entering into apartment and having issues with proper estimation. Price jacked up by another $400 and made to pay the extra money upfront.
    3. Once items picked up, no word on when it is to be delivered.
    4. Despite so many calls nothing returned. Fed up and wrote a lengthly mail and reply received that they have 21 days to deliver. (reply was so rude as well)
    5. Waited for 21 days and contacted as well. (Imagine the pain and agony on staying without anything on a new location in this state!)
    6. Finally a word came from no where that it will be delivered on 22nd day.
    7. Delivered most of the items and found 3 important boxes missing.
    8. Still in touch with them to trace where my items are.
Anyone willing to engage them please think about these and best of luck to you.
    Thanks.

  2. Allied was Awful!

Unless you've got some kind of masochistic streak, do not even think about using Allied or any of its local firms. These folks are absolutely the worst business experience I have ever had.  For starters, they were 2 hours late arriving.  Then thug #1 asked me how to pack things (huh?), then thug #2 began taking things out without covering the carpet ("I forgot"), then thugs 1, 2 & 3 got into a race-based screaming match in my bedroom, then the district manager of these fools showed up, taught them how to use packing tape (on the job training?) and split as soon as he could, then thug #2 took 8 hours packing our basic drinking glasses (you'd think they'd use those cardboard dividers, eh?), then thug 1 spilled water on the rug and smeared it with his shoe and didn't tell anyone until I found it and then he yelled at me for being disrespectful. I forgot to mention - I bought these guys lunch in the hope it would accelerate their work. Bad move. After a few slices of pizza I found them actually sleeping in the truck. The litany of insults and incompetence goes on and on - rudeness, sloth, sloppiness, vandalism, lost parts and missing boxes. Dante wrote a play about Allied, he just described them as hell instead. You get the idea.  If you have any other option - and this includes a monk with a burro - take that option over Allied. You'll be happier for it.

  3. Allied Van Lines.

I very upset and extremely disappointed with the deception I experienced with my recent move from Mission, KS to Monson, MA with Ailled.  I was given a quote of $5742.13 which I paid as demanded prior to unloading my belongings.  When I noticed that I was missing a substantial amount of my boxes I was told that ‘it was overflow” and another truck was coming.  I left Kansas on Wed. July 22 as did the crates and moving truck.  It is now Sept. 3 and I start a new job tomorrow without the rest of my household goods and clothing.   I should have realized something was wrong when my belongings were packed into storage crates in Kansas.  I asked why and the crew told me that they were waiting for a driver so they would go into storage temporarily.   Right now I have been forced to buy items to replace what I already own somewhere in a warehouse in Kansas.  I have no silverware, underwear, socks, cleaning supplies and the list goes on. Coleman Moving/Allied's move coordinator Kelly Albrect is useless.  She places blame elsewhere and contends that 'we are waiting for a driver'  What does that mean?  To hire one?  Put my stuff on Youship?   .

  4. Choose Another Company!

From start to finish this was a terrible experience. I lay to several times. From the very beginning, I was told that my belongings could ship out early. I wound up waiting 2 months for my things. I was given an original estimate that was $3000 less than what they ended up charging me after picking up all of my boxes. I was lied to about when the items would be shipped off. I was lied to 3 times about when the items would arrive. When the items were delayed I was not given a call and instead waited around all day long for my things which wound up coming 2 weeks later. On top of that, 80% of my clothes arrived reeking of mold!! I spent $700 on dry cleaning, and hours hand washing things and doing the laundry. A lot of my books smell. One of the only boxes that was packed by the company was crushed and destroyed. I have missing items that are unaccounted for. I was given a discount for my troubles and was happy about that but ended up paying more that amount on dry cleaning. I filed an insurance claim and it took them over a week to contact me and then 3 weeks before they can come check out the damage. In the meantime, I have boxes of moldy clothes and crushed boxes sitting on my patio waiting for them to look at. I cannot put into words how stressful this situation was and I feel so neglected and disappointed and saddened and have been very angry. Luckily I did not have any furniture to ship as I heard that the people who had furniture in my truck had their furniture destroyed. It makes me sick that they can operate a business like this. Moving is hard enough as is without further complications. On top of that, I'm 5 months pregnant and living alone as my husband is in the army and have had to deal with mold that has made me nauseous and given me headaches. Do not choose this company!

  5. Alaska move.

Yesterday (Friday) when the movers showed up at 9:00 am and began blaring rap music with questionable lyrics/words loud enough for my neighbors to hear, they began packing, and found my weapons before I could get to them and secure them. My husband is a Marine, and we live, eat, breathe firearm safety in this house. One of the man-child movers began playing with it while 'looking for a serial number to record'. I had already secured my pistol at my side after watching them passing it amongst themselves, never checking, nor declaring 'cleared!' as protocol dictates. I was getting out of the lawn chair where I was sitting off the front porch with a friend in order to say something, when one of them deliberately 1.took the safety off, 2. racked the round and 3. pulled the trigger, thus blowing a 3 inch hole in my front porch..not 15-20 degrees from the angle at which we were sitting. No one was injured, but I spent some time throwing up in the bushes beside our home after it had time to sink in. He is now saying that it went off on its own, spontaneously.      After they left, I then discovered a massive clog in my master-bath toilet. One of the movers used it, was unable to flush, and decided not to inform me.  My friend and myself plunged this toilet for 30 minutes with no effect whatsoever except fouling up the surrounding area ..it was horrific.      While they were in the garage, one of them pulled the 'emergency cord' on the garage door opener, thus preventing me from being able to use the garage door until I figured out how to fix this, having to crawl onto the roof of my car to do so, since I now had no furniture to climb on.      And last, when taking down my curtains, they pulled a curtain rod holder out of the wall, did not say anything, nor did they reattach, I discovered after they left. I am 5'3"..no way of fixing this as my husband left 2 weeks ago and without furniture, I cannot reach it. In their credit though: The supervisor came over immediately and fixed the clogged toilet. Their responses to emails and phone calls are immediate and satisfactory. The supervisory staff were respectful and courteous and good communcation all around.

  6. Allied was a mistake.

From start to finish, Allied was a bad choice. Broken and missing items and no insurance to cover the goods (partially my fault for not investigating the area of obtaining more than their minimum $.60 per pound coverage). If I were to move again, I would hire a team to pack and load a rental truck and then hire a driver with the cargo door locked. Never again would I trust a supposed brand name.

  7. Allied Van LInes.

Allied did a great job.  They showed up on pickup day as promised and on time.  Their employees were very careful and professional in loading our belongings.  They had to unload and store our stuff because no delivery truck was available for several days, so they did all that at no expense to us and big expense to them.  On the delivery end the driver called ahead as promised and showed up right on time.  The employees again were very careful with our stuff and very fast, too.  We were very happy with the communication and the price, which ended up being lower than the estimate after the load was weighed.  If you need to move long-distance, trust Allied.  This is the second time we have used them and were happy both times.

  8. Move from WV to FL.

Recently moved from Webster Springs, WV to Cape Coral, FL.   The Allied Van Lines agent was Central Van and Storage, Shinnston, WV (Rich Harmon).  Rich responded to all our inquiries promptly and came to the house to check out items to be moved.  His estimate was 90% accurate.   Move was well coordinated.  Central Van and Storage movers were polite and careful with our stuff.  Mac, the driver, was very thorough with keeping track of inventory.  Delivery was done by Dunmar Moving Systems of Norfolk, Virginia.  Delivery was late, but no big deal, since the driver (Ernie Temple) kept us informed of status.  No one was available to do the unloading when Ernie arrived, but Ernie happily unloaded our stuff by himself.  He finally got help for about 2 hours (out of the 8 hours it took to unload everything).  Allied Van Lines failed to provide the necessary unloading staff at destination.  Glad we had a driver/delivery guy like Ernie. If you ever move from West Virginia to Florida, hope your move is coordinated by Central Van and Storage, Shinnston, WV (Rich Harmon) and the delivery is done by  Dunmar Moving Systems, Norfolk, WV  (Ernie Temple).   They made our move with Allied Van Lines a good experience.

  9. The Move Experience in General.

The truck driver, Forrest McGully, was the best! He was on time, wanted to deliver earlier then scheduled but could not due to the scheduling of the building frieght elevator. But I recommend him for any move. He knew his stuff. We gave the packers a thumbs up. Not a good idea. Wait and mail in the rating. The packers on the El Paso side were professional and courteous. They did not do a complete/effecient job. They forgot/did not pack many things. We had to call the REP to send other packers. We even packed some things. Not much was broken, unfortunately though, one of my sentimental possesions, a ceramic giraffe was broken at the neck. It was pack incorrectly. They were honest, nothing was stolen. Our building Sup. said he has seen many moves, but has never seen a messier group of movers. Although they cleaned up after themselves the mover were rather unorganized. Some of the movers REALLY knew their angles and knew their stuff. Some where not as careful. The cost of Allied was good a good one and the job was done. I felt as though once we signed on the dotted line we were forgotten. The customer service before signing was very responsive. After signing I felt the attitude was "to bad, so sad" your problem not mine. Over-all, the move went well.

  10. Within Florida Move Not good service.

This was a move that was from 1 side of Florida to the other. From a house to condo; condo on 3rd floor of building and accessible via elevator and/or staircase.
4 bookcases were invoived in this move. 2 bookcases stand about 6 feet tall 2 1/2' feet wide. These bookcases were delivered with no problems.
The other 2 bookcases are museum style bookcase; they do not come apart (shelves were removeable); doors have glass fronts and are removeable as well. they stand 7 feet tall and 4 feet wide. The ceilings of the condo are 8 feet tall.
When bookcases were picked up; it was requested by the mover to have the doors removed and packed since they were glass. That was not done. When they were delivered, one door had been broken, The movers refused to deliver these bookcases. They determined that there was no way for them to delivered either via the elevator or the staircase. We had multiple conversations with the movers and they refused to budge on this point. They insisted that it just "isn't possible for these bookcases to come upstairs". At this point they refused to work until payment had been made.
We paid them, they brought in the rest of the furniture, etc. and the bookcases were relocated to storage on site. My daughter called our contractor and some of her friends and they determine the bookcases would be able to come up the stairs. They removed the doors (as we had requested) and between the 4 guys, they managed to get both bookcases in the condo in about 15 minutes. Allied said, there is no way it can be done; well it was done no thanks to them.
Also, some furniture has been damaged and pieces missing. We will not recommend this moving company to anyone we know. They are not easy to work with and lazy when it comes to moving "big" furniture items.

  11. Stay away from Allied!

We moved from Los Angeles to Denver. The quote seemed reasonable, in line with other quotes from Mayflower, North American, etc. So we signed the contract. About a week before our scheduled load date, they called and wanted to change the pick up date from Monday to Tuesday. We had already told our landlord that we'd be out on Monday, so that wouldn't work. They told us they would have to have their guys come pick it up Monday and then transfer it to an Allied truck on Tuesday. We were not comfortable with this at all. When my husband asked to speak to the manager about it, the manager tried to make it sound like he was doing us a favor, he said, "Well this is going to cost us a lot of money but we're not passing that cost on to you."   It's not our problem if an unforeseen issue on your end costs you a little extra! We should have gotten out right then, but we didn't think we could. That was just the beginning of our terrible problems.  When they came to load on Monday the movers didn't put down plastic and tracked dirt all through our house. They didn't disassemble or pad our furniture properly. They left cigarette butts all over our driveway. When they had us sign the load paperwork, we noticed they had marked that every single piece of our furniture was dinged, scraped, or damaged in some way. They even marked that our leather couch had rust. Hello? It's a leather couch with no metal whatsoever, where the heck is the rust?!?! But we had to sign the paperwork or they wouldn't take our stuff. It was a nightmare.  When the truck arrived at our new home in Denver things got really bad. There was a rip in our leather couch, huge scrapes and gouges in some of our wood furniture. Parts had been disassembled when they switched trucks, and pieces were missing. The movers said it wasn't their problem since they weren't the ones who loaded the first truck.  The last straw was when they carried in a 100lb car jack in on top of a totally smashed box. When we complained, the driver said that the box was already smashed. Well, that doesn't mean you put a 100lb jack on top of it!  When we started to make comments about how things were being handled, the driver said, "How about you guys stop complaining and just let me do my job?!" We both just stood there in shock. Then he tried to tell us how he was being nice to us and could have charged us extra because it was snowing and he had to shovel a 2 foot path but he wanted to catch the football game so we got lucky. What does that even mean? We had been told by our sales agent that the movers would reassemble our furniture in our new home. They didn't, and when we asked them to they said it would be an additional charge.  They were so rude to me and my husband I wanted to tell them to just get out. If I had ever treated anyone like that at my job I would have been fired on the spot. I guarantee if their supervisors had seen the way they treated us and our belongings they would have been appalled.  We tried calling Berger, they basically said it wasn't their problem since they don't handle drivers. They sent us a $100 check.  We paid over $2300 for crappy and rude service. We are trying to file a claim to get some money to replace our damaged goods, but because the guys who loaded the truck marked everything as damaged I doubt we will see a cent.  So all I can say is stay the heck away from Berger and Allied. I can understand having a few hiccups, but our move was plagued from beginning to end, from terrible loaders, damaged goods, rude drivers, and a very difficult claim process, all I can conclude is that this whole company stinks. .

  12. Move to Dubai, UAE cost $13000 in Damages.

They destroyed a stickley dining room set, including table and buffet; an antique desk; a stickley dresser; wine glasses; antique glasses; other miscellaneous items. We had set insurance and they refused to pay up on the stickley dining room set despite fact that buffet was destroyed and was unrepairable. The "repaired" chairs - each and every one was scratched or dented - and painted them a different color and deemed them repaired. They only paid, 1/3 of value.

Once the furniture was picked up, they were completely unresponsive and unhelpful. I cannot stress enough how much you should not use them. I have been through several international moves. They are truly unprofessional and should be banned from transatlantic moving.

  13. Items Were Stolen.

Had I known my $700 TV would be stolen and when claimed with Allied I would be offered $24 in return, I never would have chosen Allied as my moving company. I never expected $700 but I did expect something like $200 or $300 for a 3 year old plasma TV..THIS IS NOT OK and I AM INSULTED.

Oh and.. all of my husbands tools were also stolen out of his car when it was transported across country. He never put in a claim which is a good thing because they probably would have offered him $5. BUT IT STILL HAPPENED.

One piece of advice.. whatever moving company you choose, be sure to specifically ask how they handle claims of damaged and stolen items. What is their process and how do they value items. Also ask about the different insurance options and how that effects the cost of your property.

  14. Excellent Move!

The driver and his wife were an excellent team! They packed all my items, were extremely professional and accommodated all my special requests.

I was extremely pleased with their service and the company and they also accommodated my late arrival to Washington. The best move I ever had, would highly recommend Coleman American Moving Services representing Allied Van Lines!

  15. Had I Known I would have picked another company.

We moved from Wichita KS to Clearwater FL
If we were told upfront that our belongings would not all fit on one truck (because there were already 2 other customers on already) we certainly would have picked another company. Our move started Dec 22 2011, our 1st truck arrived Tuesday Dec 27 2011 (4 BOXES MISSING AND A CRACKED TABLETOP). As of today Jan 4 2012 we still do not have the remainder, and when I spoke to a representative yesterday they still have no idea when they will have a driver to deliver the remainder of our belongings! I find this truly unacceptable and have no idea what to do about it! Of course keep in mind when they delivered load #1 they collected the total amount due (certified check) before they unloaded anything so I get the impression there is no hurry!
I have called daily and get the same response..I have talked to a supervisor who claims to be monitoring the situation. There was no guaranteed delivery date, there is no reimbursement for the delay..WILL WE EVER GET OUR BELONGINGS? I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE!
