  1. It is the worst moving company

Please avoid using this company, it is by far the worst company movers. They subcontracted with another company called Day and Night this is the company that they moved my furniture. They know that you had to move, first they increase the price more than double then when you received your items almost half of them were broken and also they are so so rude. I do not know how they still function they should be removed from this job they take advantage from the people

  2. RUDE READ BEFORE USING THEM

Horrible horrible horrible customer service!! Man texted me the other day and argued with me... Then, woman called today and was rude and argumentative. I'm not one to post a review unless it's positive..... Be VERY CAREFUL

  3. TIME TO TAKE THE SCAM ARTISTS DOWN!

Hey there, as everyone has said, this company makes money on scamming people out of their deposit. They claim to not be a broker on their website, but clearly are. They have changed their name to America Moving, LLC and have 30+ federal complaints against them. They sold our contract to another company who lost and damaged items. Our quote from American Movers was 8k and we were forced to pay 19k from the other company who showed up for the move and was holding our items and are out $1600 deposit to American Movers. On top of all of this, American Movers (or American Moving) is likely not even licensed to do business in your state, a violation of Federal and State Law. Please consider joining the class action lawsuit in progress by contacting me on this website.

  4. Scam Artists - Lies upon Lies!!

This company is a joke. They lie about everything.

They present a beautiful story of of owning moving trucks, having white glove service to come and move your stuff, this is until reality hits on moving day.

All the sudden you need a cashiers check for a different company, ours showed up in a rental box truck with a completely different company. So on moving day, you are supposed to resign contracts and go into agreement with this new company.

New company held our stuff for 2 weeks until delivery, lots of things broken and still fighting to get the insurance payment from the new company.

These people are brokers and don't care about [EDIT] after you sign their contract. STAY AWAY!!

  5. Should have read these reviews before.

My move price was $3,752.92 from California to Washington and ended up being $6,764.57. And that is not the worse of the story.
After my husband passed away, I decided to move in with family. Written below are the things I went through and things I learned during my move. Hopefully my remarks will help protect others in their moves.

    (1) Went through American movers and storage which I found out much later was a Broker. Wasn't until the second man called me that I found out my items may be going into storage before delivery to my new home.
    (2) When the truck came to pick up my boxes, below is what I later, much later, learned after much research on the computer:
“Carrier cannot control whether proper packing methods are used by shipper, therefore on boxes packed by the owner as well as pressed wood (particle board) furniture, fragile or brittle items such as glass, china, ornaments, etc.; Liability is limited to $0.60 per pound per article. Carrier, or its representative, has the right to inspect and repair any alleged damage.”
This wording was not on my contract and the Oasis Moving and Storage Co. refused to send me a copy of a signed agreement they said they had with my signature on it. One that was not given to me by the movers that picked up my household items. Therefore, when delivery was being done , my computer desk was dropped as it was being moved out of the truck and broken. It is not insured, even at the .60 cents per dollar value according to Oasis, Anthem and the US Movers Association arbitration.
    (3) On the household goods descriptive inventory, some items that were marked CP which means that it was carrier packed but the computer tables that were marked CP were not wrapped and not honored by the moving company as part of their responsibility as it was pressed wood. The heavy glass pieces came out OK.
    (4) Boxes that were heavy duty, gotten from a UPS store, were broken and smashed as much as 4 to 5 inches. So heavy items had to been placed on top of lighter boxes. So much breakage from hanging lights to china to metal pots and pans, plastic lids. Even my safe has marks and dents which were caused during the move or storage. Missing items too.
    (3) After taking photos of broken items and filling out forms, sending papers to Anthem Claim Management, I got a letter stating : “There are no remarks or exceptions on the Descriptive Inventory List noting any loss or damage occurring during transit. Carrier is not liable for all items packed by owner (PBO). and Due to it is fragile nature, carrier accepts no liability for damages to furniture constructed of pressed wood/particle board or other manufactured wood products.” They said, after I made several calls to them, I should have read the back of the contract. All contract papers were sent via e-mail and no wording, as indicated by them, was on the contract.
    (4) Called US Movers Association arbitration. Arbitration fee $150.00 and movers would pay other half.
    (5) Called Oasis again was told she would send signed papers then called back within 10 minutes saying she would not send papers and for me to call American Movers.
    (6) Have called American Movers and Storage four times today, always busy, no answer.

    Therefore:
Make sure you do research on federal government laws regarding Fragile items. Reread all pamphlets on moving that you can find on the internet.
Make sure movers only deliver during daylight hours as the Arbitrator said that I should not have accepted moving items delivered at night. I should have told movers to come back next day.
Make sure you do not sign the first and last Inventory list made by the moving packers until after checking everything yourself to make sure nothing is missing nor broken.

    Good luck.

  6. Absolutely HORRIBLE! STAY AWAY.

I set up a move with Jeff from American Movers and Storage and explained to him that our house was for sale and we did NOT have a moving date scheduled at this point. I did explain that we were hoping to be out of there around May, but to not put down a moving date. One day I was sitting in my office and saw an unmarked white moving truck pull into our driveway. I walked outside to see if they had the wrong address, and they did not. I explained to them that we were not moving as they could see our house was still for sale and there must have been a mix up within the company. They called the company while I was on the driveway and then I received a call from one of the ladies in the office named Rachel. She said that these gentleman just drove 800 miles out of their way to pick us up. I explained that we never set up a moving date and as she looked at her notes, she saw that it was the moving company's mistake and she apologized. I felt horrible for the 3 gentleman that drove that far, however it was not our fault. A couple months later, again I was sitting in my office and saw the same truck and gentleman pull up again and I was astounded. I walked outside and explained to them that I spoke with the company and explained that we were not moving yet and I would call them when we were and they screwed up again. This time the gentleman drove 250 miles out of their way. They called the company again and I am not sure what was said as I was leaving for a meeting. Then one of the ladies in the office called me within the last month or so and asked if I had sold our house yet and ready to move and I said no, it was still for sale. These horrible mistakes have happened twice, and I don't have any trust with this company and my valuables. When I spoke with Jill, I got quite frustrated. The fact that they have zero notes in my account stating that these gentleman have come to my house twice, when in fact the movers spoke with one of the ladies in the company twice from the mistakes. I find it truly disheartening that their company has failed to take the appropriate measures on this situation and documenting all conversations. Also, I did take a full account of everything in our house when setting up the move with Jeff, and the truck that arrived would in no way fit everything we have, and they stated they also had another family to pick up after ours. The truck that pulled up was no bigger than 26 feet, which our stuff would not fit in. If it did, I would have rented a U-Haul truck and driven ourselves. The reason we hired a moving company is that we needed a bigger truck than 26 feet and this would not have sufficed. Also when setting up the move with Jeff, I was told that this was not a 3rd party company, which apparently it is, and I was lied to from the beginning. I also don't appreciate their tone when speaking with me as I am the customer. They have consistently lied and when trying to call them today to find out if my email has been reviewed to get a refund, the number no longer exists. I did some digging and they changed their name yet again to Atlas moving and storage. When trying to leave a voicemail on all different lines, it states all voicemail's are full. I cannot even reach them to get a refund, so I will be filing complaints with everyone I can. They have done nothing but lie to me from day one.

  7. Do Not Use This Company.

This company will charge you, then sub-contract out your move to disreputable, horrible movers, who will charge you even more. We are out over $4,000 to move 10 miles. We had delivery delays, broken furniture, not to mention furniture that would not be off-loaded until we agreed to pay an extra $300 to the movers, "because they had to take the stairs" ONE FLIGHT!

If I could give a lower rating than one star, I would.

  8. Avoid at all costs.

See the BBB of Georgia website, search for American Movers and Storage of Macon Georgia. They have 3 alerts about their poor customer service and questionable business practices.

They will have great customer service and go out of their way to get your deposit and set up a move. They will say anything and then when another moving company comes to pick up your stuff they will not honor the moving contract and charge your more, hold on to your stuff for up to a month, and keep asking for money. You might pay double for the move and possibly have stuff missing or damaged. The insurance will pay 6 dollars per pound. So if they destroy your 10 pound flat screen TV you will get 60 bucks.

We used them and it was a complete disaster. The moving company who picked us up wanted $600 more dollars, and when we refused to pay they drove off leaving us stranded without movers. I actually was relieved when they drove off because after 3 hours of trying to get them to honor the contract we felt like we dodged a bullet. Their 24 hour customer service line does not exist.

    You have been warned.

  9. Scam Artists.

This was the worst moving experience imaginable. American Movers & Storage is also known as Atlas Moving and Storage. They change their name in an attempt to evade their terrible business ratings and negative consumer feed back. Atlas Moving and Storage lured me in with a quote that seemed too good to be true. After discussing the agreement in length, the sales rep addressed all of my questions and concerns. Almost immediately after I signed, it became clear that the sales reps was telling me whatever I needed to hear, including the cost of service and delivery time, to get me to sign the contract. What was NOT disclosed in the contract was the name of the sub-contractors Atlas hires to do the moving services. If I had known that Intagrated Moving Solutions Inc. I would have canceled the contract right away given their ‘F’ business rating with the Better Business Bureau. Unfortunately I was unaware and proceeded forward. In short, it took Intagrated Moving Solutions Inc. 2.5 days to pack and load my 1200 sq.ft. apartment into the moving truck, 28 days to deliver my belongings and increased my original, contracted moving fee 110%. When I raised these issues with Atlas I was told that there was nothing Atlas could do about the poor business practices of Intagrated Moving Solutions Inc. That I would have to take it up with them. Atlas refused to take liability for hiring IMS Inc.
The IMS Inc. crew was late, unprepared, inefficient, inexperienced, slow, inappropriate and lewd. After being in my home for 2.5 days, they advised me at 1:30AM, that the cost of their moving services would increase 110% from the initial contract I signed with Atlas Moving and Storage. They also advised they would take up to 10 days to deliver my property, though my Atlas contract stated 5. After numerous calls to Atlas Moving and Storage and 27 days later, my delivery was scheduled for Thursday 7/25 between 1pm-7pm. I was prepared with a money order, from a federal bank, to pay my remaining balance. The IMS Inc. driver refused to take the money order because it was from a bank, rather than the post office. After a great deal of commotion, the driver left without unloading the truck. I made several calls to IMS Inc. the following morning and rescheduled the delivery for that day. None of the boxes were labeled when packed so the delivery crew dumped all boxes in one room. A third of the boxes were crushed from being stacked without consideration of weight. None of the disassembled furniture was reassembled in full. My hardwood flooring was damaged due to the movers dragging heavy furniture without protecting the floor. As I begin to unpack have come to realize that I am missing items, largest being a full size head board. I noticed I hadn’t seen it come off the truck toward the end of the afternoon. When I asked the delivery man about it, he said it was coming. I realized after they left that it was still missing. I left a message with Atlas reporting the missing furniture but have not received a return call. I am so disgusted by the bait and switch sales tactics, disgusted by the shoty business practices and disgusted by the F rated contractors hired to complete the job. It amazes me that businesses like Atlas Moving and Integrated Moving can go on continuously scam consumers. It’s criminal and it needs to stop.

  10. I Will Not Recommend American Movers.

Please do not use this moving company. My experience with them was a nightmare. They misplaced my electric adjustable box spring, and offered my $40 as compensation. They're really not a moving company. They're brokers. My stuff was tampered with, some of my boxes were opened and stuff missing, some bottle of cologne (new) that I bought my husband, dumbbells (25 and 10 lbs), a plastic container with coins (approx 5lbs). Plus, the driver who delivered my stuff tried to scam me out of $500 more. They also gave me someone else's stuff. I had to call the driver to let him know that I had stuff that did not belong to me. This company is a mess. But I blame myself for not doing my research first.

  11. I think they have disappeared.

We contracted this mover to move my mother from MO to IN. Same promises others got: owned their trucks, ultra careful and respectful, movers will be timely. None of this happened. We had a contract service show up in a rental truck, used a different truck to deliver so they removed and reloaded. Nothing was covered with blankets. The details go on and on. It was a nightmare. We had damage on almost every piece of furniture. We filed a claim with photos and clear explanation of all that went wrong. I have called them so many times and gotten no where. Now I cannot reach them. Their toll free number has been disconnected. They have probably dropped off the earth and started up as another company.

DO NOT USE OFF-NAME COMPANIES. CHECK REFERENCES. THESE PEOPLE ARE SMOOTH TALKERS!!

  12. Avoid!

We hired this moving company back in February of 2019. We had set a great price and felt confident in our agreement. Fast forward to months to when we were supposed to be picked up. We called 3 days before pickup and informed them that we had more than we had agreed upon and a new price was given a little more than doubling our cost. Now, we did have a lot more than originally thought so we agreed on 82 pieces getting picked up and everything was good. The original "deposit" was paid and we paid an additional "deposit" for the additional cost. (Up to 2500 at this point out of 5200 that was agreed)The movers were supposed to be there Thursday. Thursday came. No one showed or called. Friday came. No one showed or called. We started calling and were given multiple excuses as to why they weren't there yet and the time kept changing but we were assured they were on the way. Midnight Friday comes and still nothing. We called 42 times back to back till finally someone answered. We were told it would be Saturday morning. Saturday morning come.. afternoon comes nothing. We start calling again. We get told that the movers are filling the truck and will be there soon. The 2 boys that show up from a different moving company (sparks) in a 24 foot pensky rental truck that's about a quarter of the truck filled already have no idea how to use the lift gate. Scratch up the driveway of the rental property we are moving from. Ask us to buy them dinner because they are hungry. The proceed to tell us they need gas money because their company credit cards don't work. So we give them $400 cash and a check for $1,700 (up to $4,600) to pick up and go. On the paperwork they write our grand total of $5285 and note or cash/check payment. We sign and give them a date for delivery. We get a call 4 days before our delivery is scheduled and are told we owe $3177 and they will be there the next day. We inform them we will not have possession of the new house for 4 more days and it should say that on the forms we signed and also, where is this $3177 additional cost coming from? We got mixed answers of it was use of the truck, it was our booking fee, fuel cost, a broker's fee. Just a bunch of lies. The mover tells us he will talk to the office and get it straightened out. The next phone call we get is a week later informing us that we now have to pay $4,777 because they had to reschedule $1000, and a $600 shuttle service? We call. Get the redelivery fee waived but the shuttle service would still apply because they have to move our stuff into a smaller truck to deliver. We call and call and call. We get nowhere. It's been over a month and the most we have gotten is an offer to refund $500 to us. They altered the form we signed after they picked up. They lie to us daily. We still do not have our belongings in our home and now they are threatening to auction off our belongings. We have contacted the police and lawyers. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANY REASON! YOU WILL NOT SAVE YOURSELF MONEY! You will just feel helpless as the scam you for every penny you have!

  13. American Movers, Macon GA (Formerly American Wide Relocation).

I was able to get a refund from this disturbing company for a deposit they attempted to keep without basis, but it was like pulling teeth. I needed to ask help from the BBB, FMCSA and legal assistance. Apparently they aren't at their listed address in Macon, GA and are based in West Palm Beach, FL. Also, they apparently make customers sign an agreement not to file complaints, which may be unlawful (ask your attorney, I'm not one, but this is just what I heard). I hope that the Attorney General of FL (or GA) or a group of individuals (or both) will eventually gather enough complaints that a class action suit is filed against them. I truly wish all the best to the people who've been mistreated by this company.

  14. Scammers! Check the BBB do not USE.

UPDATE-2 months have gone by and the company has still not responded to me with a resolution for the terrible service OR my lost items. The good reviews are nice, but it's easy when things go according to plan. A good company/business is identified when their operation does not go according to plan and they own the situation and do what is necessary to make it right for their customer. This is as terrible business. Their reviews on the website I believe are fake since I cannot even locate their FaceBook page they mention. Don't make the same mistake I made.
I have reported their business practices to the BBB, and here is the response I received from the BBB. Look them up on the BBB before considering them, and you will see additional reports the same as mine.
"The Better Business Bureau has made several attempts to contact the business regarding the complaint. We regret to inform that we have not received a response from the company.
The BBB develops and maintains Reliability Reports on companies in our service area. This information is available to the public and is frequently used by potential customers. In the case of your complaint, the company's failure to promptly give attention to the matter will be reflected in the report we give to consumers about them."

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Did not stick to the guaranteed schedule for pick up and delivery. Uses third parties to complete moves when they guarantee it is all done through them only. Showed up 3 hours late for pick up with one man and his 15 year old step son to do the job. they loaded my belongings into a budget rental truck. Did not deliver next day as guaranteed. Arrived 3 days later at 1:30am to deliver belongings at apartment complex where people are sleeping, and there is a strict quiet hour rule. Mover came alone, and didn't have anyone to help him with the job which definitely required minimum of two movers, so me as the consumer had to help unload and move all my own belongings in the middle of the night. I am 30 years old, 115 lbs, I live alone and I am recovering from a shoulder injury. I am not a professional mover that's why I hired a moving company. From 1:30am until 5:30am I moved everything I own into my new 4th floor apartment with a man that does not even work for American Movers and Storage. I have been calling and requesting a resolution to this terrible situation, and have received 0 follow up or call backs. They also misplaced two of my lamps and have provided no follow up on my missing items. They moved my stuff from one Budget truck to another truck sometime during the 72+ hours my belongings were missing and the entire company was unreachable. Their after hours phone lines for assistance are automated and hang up on you, and the email address on their website comes back undeliverable. My belongings were trashed and damaged. Jeff Woodford is the Sr. logistics Coordinator that sold me a service they could not follow through with. Kate is the manager who does not follow up, and can not provide resolution. Michael is the "boss" who cursed me out and told me they don't work on my time, and I will have to make myself available when they are able to deliver my items. After being guaranteed a delivery on Tuesday 3/5 at 6pm by Kate, which is 48 hours after guaranteed and scheduled delivery time and date, my belongings arrived at 2am Wednesday 3/6. No empathy and no care that they messed up. No attempts to make anything right. YOU SHOWED UP AT 2AM WITH ONE PERSON!

  15. BEWARE These Scammers!

I submitted a quote request on a site for finding movers. American Movers & Storage in Macon, GA, was one of the companies that responded. The owner, Joseph Harris, called me while pretending to answer the phone, which I thought was odd at the time, but I thought that maybe a script on the website had called us both.

When I explained that I was trying to move my potentially dangerous ex's things to his mom in Florida, Harris offered an estimate price that I agreed to, and I paid a deposit of $748 over the phone. The estimate was sent via a link in an email. That link no longer works. Here is the URL: http://fox.hellomoving.com/wc.dll?mpest~FriendlyIn~PQFJ123584~4697~138708293

The owner said that his company owns their trucks and that someone would contact me to finalize a pickup date within the March 26 - April 3, 2019, timeframe.

I never heard from them again. I wasn't sent a receipt or copy of the estimate. I was never called or emailed again, or visited. I have tried calling and emailing with no response.

After the 3rd passed, I filed a dispute with Chase, the servicer of the credit card I used for the deposit. Chase sided with these scammers after they told them that a driver had come to my house "within the 48 hour window" and been turned away.

I have security cameras that can show that nobody had arrived or been sent away, but Chase will not accept those or photos or call logs or (lack of) emails as evidence. I have two roommates who can confirm that they never saw or interacted with anyone from this company. There are also many online reviews & reports by other people who were scammed, which I unfortunately saw after the fact.

I am out $748 and still have my potentially dangerous ex's things in my possession. I am submitting reports to every agency that I can think of.

    So far, I've done:

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
    https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/protect-your-move/file-a-complaint

The Georgia Department of Public Safety: http://www.gamccd.net/HouseholdGoods.aspx

    The FBI Cyber Crimes Division:

    The Federal Trade Commission:
    https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov

    The BBB of Central Georgia:
    https://centralgeorgia.app.bbb.org/complaint/new/97097?bbbID=0743

I will also be submitting a report at my local police department.
