  1. LOCAL MOVE

    Had a scheduled move, they showed up 45 minutes late, damaged some personal items. Cost was ok compared to other companies just wish the service was better.

  2. Theft of belongings

    DO NOT hire this company to help you move! We used Bekins to move from Long Beach, CA to Michigan. At first things seemed to go ok despite the packers refusing to wear masks (this was in the height of Covid last September). Little did I know, only some of our items were being loaded on to the moving truck. When the truck arrived in Michigan there were several items missing. When I say several, I mean over $3,000 worth of mens clothing and a large container of loose change I would conservatively estimate to be $300. I would've never guessed someone would steal pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters but sure enough...... it disappeared. I immediately reached out to Bekins to express my frustration and unhappiness and they agreed to do a "trace". Of course they did not find anything because my belongings never made it onto the moving truck! Now we have filed a claim and they have denied it because it was 1 day late. Someone working for Bekins stole my belongings and now Bekins will not do anything about it. Like I said, DO NOT use this company..... their employees can't be trusted and neither can anyone in management.

  3. Move from NY to FL.

    They are the worst movers. They stuffed all my belongings in a small truck. Never explained the insurance options to me. Rushed me to sign off the paper at origin and at my destination. They lost a carton, damaged my furniture, ruined my small carpet with water damage, and broke my husbands expensive printer. I had receipts for all the damage worth around $4000. The offered me $60. They estimated my move at $5500 and charged me $8800. The are horrible.

  4. Awful Awful Awful!!

    If I could give them negative stars I would! This was a horrible experience from start to finish. We hired Bekins to do our move from Prescott, AZ to Phoenix, AZ. When the crew showed up to pack and load things in the van, the crew consisted of an elderly gentleman, a VERY pregnant woman and two teenagers who were absolutely useless. The packing took (easily) twice as long as it should have. Next, the amount charged to our card was almost $1,000 MORE than what was quoted. Which they never even talked to us about, just went ahead and charged the card. I disputed this with my bank, but because the contract says it may vary "some" after pick-up, they are pretty much able to charge whatever they want. I called the office multiple times trying to get an itemized reciept and the receptionist just told me "I'll get to it when I get to it". I still, to this day have never received the itemized receipt I asked for.

    Then, the DAY they were supposed to deliver our goods, I get a call from their office AFTER they were already supposed to be there saying if I didn't pay another $2,000, they would not release our goods for delivery. I already had help waiting for the delivery, so I was forced to pay the money to get our things.

    I have contacted a lawyer to try to recoup some of these thousands of dollars in extra charges. But I felt complelled to try to save someone else from this insanity.

  5. Awful!!

    Myself and my brother in laws were the crew as no help was ever found. The driver was here from 8am - 6pm. One of my brother in laws worked hand in hand from 9am until driver left With all assembly and furniture movement and everything. My other brother in law was here from about 2pm until driver left, and I was here all day.

    Bekins mentioned to my wife over the phone that we’d be reimbursed $50/hour for everyone who helped, but by email they contradicted themselves and said that it wasn’t per person, but overall.

    Additionally, we really fee like Bekins let our driver down too. They were not able to get him a crew. Or a shuttle (which he ended up not needing).

    I paid out of pocket for him to get an Uber to scope the street out to verify he didn’t need a shuttle. And we also bought him lunch and dinner as well as gifted him a $100 gift card for sticking with us the entire time with no support! It was the only way we could show our gratitude to Freddy.

    But the whole ordeal set everyone back. The truck arrived Thursday afternoon but could not secure the resources for the Friday delivery. Our original plan was to move in Friday and have family support to unpack Saturday so that today we would be settled enough to return to work. But instead we moved in Saturday and were then without family support, meaning we had to try to unpack with 3 children and no help. So we had to take an additional day off work to accommodate that. And my brother in law who was here all day was just finishing his own move (we are renting from him, so he moved out and we moved in). So he lost a day of moving into his own place to help us.

    Bekins reply was that we just wait for Aaron to call us, but it doesn’t feel like there will be much in the way of compensation for the inconvenience this has caused not only me but my extended family as well.

    Everyone we speak to with Bekins seems either not communicated within their own ranks (right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing) or takes any questions we ask as a personal attack of credibility.

    As we are in Connecticut where there is mandatory 2 week quarantine for people coming from Texas, we have been here for 1 week and had to effectively reset our quarantine period due to having to act as the crew for our driver, who is an exposure risk given the nature of a truck driver stopping at truck stops etc.. this reset of quarantine is forcing us to also reschedule any Personal items like school tour for registration for our kids as well as securing times to transfer our car and drivers licenses locally.

    From beginning to end, it’s been an awful experience.

    The driver wasn’t originally available for our locked in load date so another crew was dispatched with a shuttle where it would sit for 2 days. That crew was 2 hours late and didn’t have tools to disassemble furniture!! Also tried shaking my hand while it was already mentioned to the company that I’m. Immunocompromised and were in the middle of a pandemic!

  6. Bekins South Florida.

    Wish I would have investigated reviews and company. Packing was terrible, left things, still do not have items and I moved from Fl to MI,

    I would research them before hiring. Communication is terrible, was told they are top notch movers..I did not see that at all..May have to file complaint with agency that monitors movers.. They say 3-8 days delivery from pick up.That is not true, lucky I ever see my belongings. They talk a good talk..be careful before hiring, bad experience all together. The man who did my quote, told me how great Bekins is, I have not seen that at all.. Very disappointed in their lack of professionalism, caring about the move, will definitely look into pursing legal action. Other companies have better reputation and reviews..They left items in home in clear sight, I was busy repacking as how agent told me to pack and movers different way they wanted it. Wanted to charge me for taping a box??. It is shame that during this COIVD-19 crisis companies not doing there part.not sure I will ever see my items..

  7. Bekins.

    THIS COMPANY SUCKS-THEY SHIPPED ONLY 60% OF MY LOAD IN 10 DAYS AND I DIDN"T GET THE REST FOR ANOTHER 12 DAYS--THEIR CLAIM REIMBURSEMENT ALSO SUCKS.

  8. Move from AZ to WA State.

    The packers were outstanding in Arizona. Had much precious glass, mirrors, lamps and paintings and none was broken or damaged. Crew loading was also exceptional as was driver who took it the whole way. Rec'd load when they said they would deliver and accomodated a day delay to suit me. Crew unloading were very hardworking and competent. Some of the wrapped furniture had rub damage but not bad. They did break the leg on a dresser and it probably cannot be repaired. They put a screw in it to hold it on which is unattractive but functional. A piece of veneer was also torn off in a wrapped cabinet. I do not consider most of the damage unmanageable except for the leg on the dresser. All in all, while not a perfect move, it was a good one.

  9. Horrible damage.

    I moved from WA state to Ohio ($29,000). Half the crew didn't show and I had to leave the day before they even finished as I had prepaid all my hotel reservations. The overflow delivery was 3 weeks later. Several expensive antiques were damaged. I documented and took pictures of broken/shattered items. I did not receive any reimbursement on 'high value' stickers boxes as there is a disclaimer which reads, "all items containing the contents listed above have been opened and I certify and acknowledge receipt of the above items .. and arrived safely in same condition as at origin." WHAT A SCAM! I would never recommend this company. Totally disgusted with their ripoff tactics. My $4400 claim resulted in a $1293 reimbursement.

  10. Excellent packing job.

    I moved from Rio Rancho NM to Kent WA on Sept. 4. Brian and Mike (based out of ABQ) packed my apartment and did an excellent job. They were professional and courteous through the entire process. Thank you

  11. None Better in Illinois..

    Bekins/Boerman's Van Lines, out of Woodridge, Illinois is fantastic!! I have used their services twice, the second time for an interstate move from Illinois to Arkansas, and both time I was VERY pleased with their services. I used the services of their free in home estimator, Mr. Joe Hagemaster, and his estimate was dead on, not a penny more, as opposed to the on line estimator that is so very imprecise. I even trusted them to carry my brand new Jeep Renegade, and they delivered it without a mark on it!! Excellent estimate, flexible scheduling, great communication, perfect and timely delivery..and every employee, from the estimator, to the drivers, and of course the loaders and unloaders, were kind, courteous, and VERY professional!! Every question I asked was answered precisely (and I ask a LOT of questions!!) and truthfully. I don't go out of my way to leave reviews very often, but when I experience top notch service, I want others to have the opportunity to experience the same. If you need to moving services in the state of Illinois, or an interstate move FROM Illinois, I HIGHLY recommend Bekins/Boerman's Van Lines out of Woodridge, Illinois. I have used other moving services in the past, but NONE can compare to the quality and professionalism of Bekins/Boerman's from Woodridge, Illinois. :).

  12. Horrible company.

    Bekins is a horrible company. do NOT use them. I scheduled over a month in advance and the day before the move they did not have a truck for me.. Eventually they said they had a truck and now its been 14 days and no word, no delivery, no truck and they don't know where my belongings are.. they sell cheap for a reason.. to trick people into using their service knowing in advance they will do a horrible job- pay the extra and use a good company.

  13. Do Not Use Bekins Moving Company!!

    DO NOT USE BEKINS MOVING COMPANY!! If you value your things and your hard earned money, never use this company!! They have missed 3 scheduled delivery times and have been holding our things hostage for more money as a result of their mistakes. The are demanding twice the “Do Not Exceed” amount signed in our contract. They have continued to threaten our possessions for more money. AVOID THESE MOVERS!!

  14. The worst company they don't care about your belongs.

    I was quoted one price but was charged an extra $1200 that I have been requesting a breakdown of the additional charge with NO success.
    I had their men pack my TV's and paintings. My 65" TV was damaged beyond repair and they loss an oil painting as well as full size fox statue, brass towel holder. They damaged my dining room table and chairs, a large mirror. They total me my 65" TV weights 15 lbs. I sent them information that it weighed 75 lbs. It made no difference they wanted to pay me $9 for my 65" TV in other words .60 cents x 15 lbs = $9.
    They sent me a check for settlement in full in the amount of $213.60 in which I did not accept.
    They do not send anyone concerning your claim. You do all the work and they think you are going to settle for little or nothing.
    I have someone's 50" TV and a pressure cooker, which they said no one has claimed.
    It's cheaper for them to pay .60 cent per lb. then to find the rightful owner because they would have to pick up the item and deliver it to the correct owner.
    I have asks for name and contact information for the owners who were on the same moving van with my belongs. I want to call and ask if they are missing a 50" TV. I know they won't.
    I have written the Corp headquarters twice it's the only way to get some reply from their claims department. They don't want to answer and questions they just want a quick settlement.

  15. Terrible Experience, Terrible Company.

    ABSOLUTELY THE WORST EXPERIENCE. DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE AND NEVER USE THEM. EXPENSIVE AND AWFUL. Bekins "forgot" to load 2 pieces of carefully-marked furniture that had sentimental and antique value. They destroyed an antique gilded mirror by insisting it should go in a mirror box instead of a crate. They shipped boxes of unwanted books that I now have sitting in our garage. The man who took our order got fired before the shipment got collected and he had all of the pertinent information that was then ignored. We bought insurance, but now are told that does not apply to them leaving items that then were disposed of by the cleaning service. A terrible experience and I hope no one else suffers this same way.
