  1. Nightmare !

HORRIBLE !THE WORST MOVERS EVER, NEGATIVE ZERO STARS !DO NOT TRUST BESTWAY MOVING ! I moved from MD. to FL. on 9/28/14.Bestway broke an 18th century couch,I have  missing items, many broken items.  To top it all off, only ONE mover showed up at the final destination to move my items in to the house. The rest NEVER ARRIVED. The reason I had one guy, because HE DROVE THE TRUCK. How ridiculous is that. This company is a RIPOFF,WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. I filed a claim and never heard anything back. I lost a 4,000 antique couch.DON'T GET USED, DON'T USE BESTWAY MOVERS ! I used to work for a moving co. years ago and have NEVER seen anything as BAD as this TWO FACED company. The ONLY thing I am happy about, the NIGHTMARE is over !(I gave 1 star because I don't believe you can post without)Frank.

  2. Thieves!!

Give minutes after these crooks were scheduled to move me, they cancelled on me. I found someone else to move me yet Best Way refuses to refund my money after repeated emails!! TOTAL CROOKS!! I have now involved my bank and the BBB. Please avoid this dishonest "business".

  3. Dishonest movers.

BestWay Movers are very unprofessional. They misquoted the move, held my property hostage, brought it a week later than scheduled. Items were broken, never crated and handled by day workers they picked up off the street when they arrived in AZ. They collected their money and proceeded to leave without assembling the furniture they took apart in VA. Horrible experience!

  4. Dishonest & Shady - do Not Use.

We had to move some of my wife's furniture from storage in Virginia to our home in Missouri.  When we finally decided to go with BestWay Moving, Mr. Marc Poe, the Relocation Consultant was as friendly and courteous as could be.   But then the week of the move came and the problems started First, Mr. Poe called a few days prior to the move to see if we could reschedule the move for a day later.  As it was no problem, we agreed.  We were given no reason for the reschedule. My wife met the movers at the storage unit.  According to her they showed up in a truck with the "BestWay" sign taped to the door.   One of the gentlemen looked at the estimate after loading the truck and told my wife the estimate seemed correct.   When we got the breakdown, the price had gone up because the weight was now 1000 pounds more than the estimate. Considering all the furniture fits in one room in our basement, I strongly question what got weighed in the truck besides the furniture.  We did receive a piece of furniture (a small CD rack) that didn't belong to my wife. My wife and I went to Florida and the day we got there I got a call from the driver telling me he was in Illinois and would be delivering the furniture the next day at 6 AM.  When I told him we weren't home and he mumbled something and hung up. I then got a call from Mr. Poe, who told me they would be delivering the furniture the next day and our only other option was paying an extra 300 for storage (and the rest was up to us to get the furniture to our home).   During the "nice phase" before the move, Mr. Poe & I had spoken about delivery.  Mr. Poe told me he would personally call me when the furniture left their facility and was enroute. When I brought this up, Mr. Poe told me that he didn't have that in his notes.  When I asked him if he was calling me a liar, he started yelling and said that if it wasn't in his notes he couldn't be sure of what was said.  He then told me that he normally calls IF he is in the office when a shipment leaves.   Our pet sitter was able to receive the furniture but we had to wire the money to her account and inconvenience her to go to the bank plus all the fees associated with wire transfers. I called Mr. Poe to tell him someone would be home to receive the furniture and I brought up all the trouble we had been through - from rescheduling the pickup to the wire transfer fees, etc.  Mr. Poe said he would see what he could do to help us out and that he had different options to chose from. Of course, after the driver was paid, we had no further contact from Mr. Poe & we didn't see any of the "options" he spoke about. Bottom line - DO NOT USE THEM.  They are one of the most dishonest outfits I have ever dealt with and could care less about the customer.

  5. Completely Untrustworthy and Unprofessional!

Mr. Jerry Margolin, Bestway’s Sales Manager: the master of delay and obfuscation, with a total disregard for his customer’s satisfaction. He is a scallywag, a scoundrel, a miscreant, and rapscallion. He is like a villain in a Dickens novel, and totally lacking in professionalism. He and his company have not even a modicum of care or concern for their clients. An utter lack of communication is also evident. Like many other people who have posted comments about Bestway, I too have been completely disappointed with this company. They have no credibility. They utterly do not stand behind their service. I would strongly urge anyone who is looking for movers to hire someone else. I signed a contract for $2,404.58 with Bestway Moving to ship my household items from Virginia to California on May 15, 2013, with the shipment arriving on June 2, 2013. I didn’t have much, just a bed, bedroom furniture, and boxes mostly. Upon inspection, I noticed several issues: 1) The bed frame for the queen-sized bed was missing and never delivered. 2) The box spring for the mattress had many dark, greasy stains, and one corner of the box spring was bent. How could dark stains appear on a box spring, when it was completely wrapped in plastic for protection? Why did someone apparently un-wrap it during the move then re-wrap it? 3) A book case was damaged, and a shelf from the bookcase was missing and never delivered. 4) A vacuum cleaner that was shipped was never delivered. Perhaps worst of all, nearly all of the 40 or so boxes that were shipped had been opened, re-boxed, and then delivered in a water-logged condition, with severe water damage. These boxes contained clothes, books, personal items, kitchen items, bedding, etc. that were utterly ruined. There was dirt, leaves, grass and mold and mildew on many of the clothes. The boxes also had a moldy smell. It was utterly disgusting and unbelievable to have these worldly possessions treated with such carelessness and delivered in such a deplorable condition. Nearly everything had to be tossed.
It was as if I had paid Bestway the full contract price of $2,404.58 to destroy these items. If I wanted my household goods destroyed, I could have done it myself for free without being ripped-off by Bestway and Mr. Margolin. Again, I repeat: DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF!!
As bad as that experience was, what followed has in many ways been worse. Despite numerous phone calls and emails to Mr. Jerry Margolin, Sales Manager at Bestway, no explanation for what happened during the move, nor any refund or restitution, was provided by Mr. Margolin despite repeated requests.
Mr. Margolin is utterly useless when it comes to providing customer service. Be assured, he is quite happy to take your money when you pay for a move, but when it comes to service after the contract has been signed and the money is in his pocket, he only knows how to stall, stall, and stall again and offer no credible explanation or assist with customer questions or help expedite requests for refunds. Mr. Margolin is scheming, manipulative, relishes control, and seems to gleefully enjoy misappropriating money paid to him for a service that was extraordinarily poorly delivered. As proof of that statement, here is what happened after I received the household items that mostly had to be thrown away, due to the utter incompetence of his company.
First (and this is perhaps the most galling and disappointing of all) I simply asked Mr. Margolin for an explanation of what exactly happened during the move that caused my items to arrive in such a deplorable condition, with nearly everything water-logged, destroyed, and unusable. He will not and did not provide an explanation or even attempt to find out what happened. His attitude is simply one of “I don’t care” now that I have your money. I have moved numerous times before and know boxes and the like can get dinged-up, etc. but this was far beyond anything I’ve ever experienced.
Second, I immediately filed an insurance claim, and included approximately 90 pictures of the damaged goods to Bestway, asking for a refund of $345, based on the standard insurance offered by moving companies, at $0.60 per pound shipped. I submitted this claim on about June 5th 2013. More than two months later, I still have not received a refund or any indication of when the money will be refunded. Yes, the insurance claim form says it may take longer than 30 days, I was aware of that. I had no problem with that. But I shouldn’t have to wait more than 60 days for a refund, or to at least receive an indication of when the insurance claim refund will be forthcoming.  This is an example of Bestway’s incredibly poor service and total lack of customer care.
Third, due to the deplorable and incredibly poor service I received from Bestway, I also wrote an email, asking for a refund of two-thirds of the total contract price of $2,404, or a refund of $1,611. This seemed reasonable to me, as nearly everything was destroyed or rendered useless upon delivery. While $1,611 would in no way compensate for the market value replacement cost of the items that were damaged beyond repair, it would have provided me with the necessary satisfaction of knowing Mr. Margolin and Bestway stand behind their service and the value of their reputation.
It is obvious now they do not value their reputation; they seem to gleefully delight in ripping people off, and ensuring their customers stay unhappy. I would have also listened to a counteroffer, and perhaps have settled for less, but none was forthcoming, until approximately a week ago when I sent an email to Mr. Margolin, stating if I did not have a satisfactory resolution to these long outstanding issues within 24 hours, after waiting two months with no relief or explanation from him or his company, I would be pursing relief through the BBB, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and the Maryland Attorney General’s office to file a consumer complaint, as outlined below. Only then, did I receive a phone call from someone at Bestway named “Eugene” who offered to settle with us for $500, which is only $155 more than what we are entitled to as a refund under the insurance claim we filed. In other words, the insurance company would have paid $345 of the total offer of $500. Given the damages and losses I suffered, I rejected this low-ball offer. I made a counter proposal and offered to reduce my request from $1,611, or two-thirds of the total contract price of $2,404 to $1,202, or one-half of the contract price, representing a reduction of $409, which seemed very generous on my part. I gave Bestway 24 hours to think about it and come back to me with an answer. Accepting a low-ball offer of $500 would have been the equivalent of accepting twenty-one cents on the dollar, not even one-fourth of the contract price. Since only $155 would come out of Bestway’s pocket, with the remainder being paid by the insurance company, it means Bestway is trying to settle for six cents on the dollar ($155 divided by $2,404.) That seems to be a ridiculously low amount, given the damage that I suffered and the total lack of professionalism and assistance I received from Bestway. The next day, Bestway raised their offer to $600. Again, that is totally unacceptable, and is really a kind of slap in the face. Of course, I rejected that offer and will now take pursue other avenues to procure some satisfaction. Be assured, I have taken the following steps: 1)    Contacted the Maryland Attorney General’s office to file a consumer complaint. Bestway is based in Maryland. 2)    Contacted the Better Business Bureau of which Bestway is a member to also file a complaint. 3)    Contacted the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration to file a complaint. 4)    Naturally, I will be posting these comments on this moving website and other moving websites to discourage others from using this company. Most assuredly, you, the reader of these comments will likely be ripped-off if you use Bestway. If you do use Bestway, and they damage your goods, (which is extraordinarily likely) and you cannot reach a satisfactory conclusion to having your money stolen, you are permitted to demand arbitration for an interstate move under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) laws. You can find a sample letter to send to Bestway here: http://www.michaelgarcialaw.com/Moving-company-sample-demand-for-arbitration-letter.html. You can also contact and file a complaint against with the FMCSA by filing your compliant here: http://nccdb.fmcsa.dot.gov/ DO NOT USE BESTWAY MOVING. THE ONLY GUARANTEE THEY CAN OFFER IS TO TAKE YOUR MONEY AND UTTERLY DESTROY AND DAMAGE YOUR GOODS.  .

  6. Terrible, Awful, No Good Moving Service.

If I could give zero stars, I would.1. The company did not arrive within the window they said they would. They were late. We were moving into an apartment with a freight elevator and we had to reserve the elevator. This meant that we went over on our reservation time and no longer had the elevator reservation at the end of the move. And then the movers charged us over time since the move was 30 minutes over the scheduled time with them.. because they were late!! They also took forever to get to our new apartment because they stopped for food on the way so it's not our fault the moving ran over time.2. The guy who moved us was nice. I gave them a great review on the survey because they were hard workers and very polite.3. Everything seemed fine. We signed all the papers and the movers left. Then I started noticing things. The walls were scratched, our wooden bed frame was scratched.. but that's nothing compared to what I eventually discovered..4. The movers had hid all the damage they had done. -When I opened drawers, I found nuts and bolts that belonged to the bed that they obviously couldn't figure out where they belonged so they hid them in a drawer.-The bottom plank of our dresser was broken in half and pushed under the dresser so we wouldn't notice. This means that the drawers are now misaligned on our dresser and the drawers won't stay in the tracks. So the dresser is useless and we had to buy a new dresser.-Our TV stand was basically ripped in half. They had obviously dropped it. The top plank of wood was ripped off the rest of the tv stand and was just placed on top.So we submitted claims for these issues and came to find out that in the contract, damage to pressed wood isn't included because pressed wood is so "easily damaged." So for all our damage, we got nothing.NEVER EVER use this moving service.

  7. BestWay Moving LLC - BUYER BEWARE.

BestWay Moving has violated numerous consumer protection standards, including bait and switch, failure to meet the terms of a contract, failure to provide services paid for, damage to property not associated with the actual move (i.e. movers damaged the walls and floors of the new home we moved into), etc.   We needed to move in June of 2013. I met with the sales representative (who came to our home for a visual and video assessment/estimate ONLY because I requested it, even though the company IS REQUIRED BY FEDERAL LAW to do so if we live--which we did--within 50 miles of the business) who surveyed our materials and provided a written estimate. On the day of our move, June 23, movers arrived and loaded and packed some of our belongings (which we paid for). Once all our materials were loaded, the mover estimated that the cost of the move would be DOUBLE what the original estimate said. This meant our only option was to say no and have everything unloaded, or go along with the bait and switch. Some increase in estimate is logical. But DOUBLE? That's either a classic bait and switch or the sales person is entirely incompetent.   We were originally told our shipment would load on the 24th or 25th of June. We left for Illinois ourselves on June 26. On June 27 I spoke to the salesperson (my only contact at BestWay) who told me he would send the certified weight tickets and and update on the ETA of our shipment that day. On the 28th I still had not heard from him. On July first I got the following email from him (Marc):   "The truck loaded on Sunday. I am unsure of what crew is driving. The Drivers name is was not on the paperwork. That is not a big deal it just means they changed drivers  The driver will give you a call and setup a time to delivery. I think the delivery will be made on Wednesday.  "   Sunday in this context means June 30. Wednesday means July 3. But even though we were told the shipment had loaded, that was a lie.   On July 3 I received this email:   "Can I give you a call on Friday? Sorry Michael your stuff did not load last weekend. It’s going to load this Friday. I am trying to get things delivery to you this weekend.  The truck I thought it was going on was going on went to New York.  Sorry about the mix up. I will call you Friday about 3 pm when I have all the information. I will get this worked out for you. I will see what I can do go get you a break on the price."   No price break has been extended.   As it turn out, our shipment did NOT load on Friday, July 5. It supposedly loaded on July 6, but when we spoke to the driver he informed us that he drove a truck straight through from Maryland (which is less than a 12 hour trip, 14-15 hours at most, which means it did not LEAVE until at least July 9. The movers were supposed to call us 24 hours in advance to schedule delivery. I have this in writing from BestWay.   On the morning of July 10 at 8:31AM I received a call from the driver who said, "I'm 5 hours away." I was in a corporate strategy meeting and could not leave work; my spouse was home alone with our three dogs, so my mother had to drive from Madison, Wisconsin on the spot to help her with the movers. July 10 was 17 days after our shipment was taken away. BestWay promises delivery in 1-14 days to the Midwest. 17 days violates the terms of the contract.   In addition to breaking and or damaging 4-5 pieces of antique furniture, 2-3 pieces of art, 4-5 glass items--all of which we paid to have packed by BestWay, the movers damaged the walls in our newly remodeled home and tracked or spilled oil on a 5-6' stretch of carpeting. This is a newly remodeled rental property which we are financial liable for.   When my spouse saw that the movers were damaging the walls carrying in a table, she asked them to stop and be careful. Their response was: "This is heavy."   We paid, in cash, the FULL BALANCE of the amount owed (again almost DOUBLE the original estimate). The movers would not unload anything from the truck until we paid. In additon, the movers left numerous boxes labeled "kitchen" or "bathroom" in our garage, so even though we paid for movers, we now have to move them in.   Several pieces of furniture that BestWay disassembled while moving were not put back together. Other pieces of furniture that were partly disassembled have missing screw and bolts, many of which were custom hardware.     Bestway is running a scam, and on top of that a horrible business that takes advantage of consumers, violates contracts, and damages personal property. To this date we have not received an apology and have been told that the "price break" we were promised may take up to 30 days to adjudicate.

  8. Not to be trusted!

Unscrupulous business! They damaged the wall of the hallway approaching my condo and the wall of the door entering my condo. They maintain not being responsible for either. They also damaged my lamp for which they claim no responsibility either. They were also 300 dollars over their estimated price. They are not to be trusted and have not credibiliy. .

  9. Easy moving experience!

I chose BestWay Moving because they had the best rating and comparable price. I had a simple move, but I had some big furniture and I knew I needed help. Through no fault of Marc's, I had to change my move date several times because of my schedule, and each time I called Marc to let him know I needed to change, he was really sweet and patient. Finally, my move date arrived, and two guys (Constantine and another guy, whose name I forgot) showed up. They backed the truck up to my door, loaded all my stuff up, drove over to my new place, and moved all the stuff in. I had labeled the boxes as to where they went, so they quickly put them where they belonged. They were also very quick about disassembling my furniture, and re-assembling my furniture. When I have to move again, I'll definitely be calling BestWay to do it for me.

  10. BestWay Moving, LLC: STAY AWAY!

I'm 33 and this is the first time I have ever posted in this fashion, have never posted reviews of: hotels I stayed at, restaurants, etc..  I have been tempted at times when I had nightmare experiences, but complacency always got the better of me and I figured the heck with it.  Not this time, BestWay Moving has been a horrific experience.  I recently moved my family (wife and a 3 year old and 2 month old) from NO. Virginia to Kansas City, MO; a job change.  The initial quote I was given was $2,100, the final amount after pick-up was $3,300.  I acknowledge there were more boxes packed then I stated when providing the initial estimate, and don't overly-quarrel with the final weight (packing prices seemed to be haphazzardly applied).  However, on the day of pick-up, one of the employees from BestWay inspected our condo and stated, "No more than $2,800"  Several times he repeated something to the extent of, "Don't worry, this will not cost you more than $2,800; that is the most".  You can imagine my reaction at the final price.  To say that BestWay was intransigent regarding the Final price would be an understatement, but at that point they have your items and really have the leverage in negotiations. It took 11 days for us to recieve our items, no complaint there.  My wife's Chest of Drawers was in fine condition when it was picked up, upon delivery one of the four legs was completely broken off, and the Insurance (you can buy outside of contract) would only pay $50 for a piece of furniture worth about $500. They refuse to replace the Chest, and just quote back the Insurance clause in the contract.     My suggestion would be that if you go with BestWay, buy the outside insurance no matter what, because they will break something and chances are it will be furniture that is valued greater than 50 bucks. Also, you almost need to tape your conversations with them, because there is a total disconnect between what they say and what they stipulate on paper (the example I provided above is one of many).  Overall, a horrible experience.  We are starting anew in KC and now have to go out and purchase a Chest that does not match the rest of the bedroom furniture, and won't be cheap!  Awful experience. .

  11. Move from Gainesville, VA to Washington, DC.

Bestway movers (crew of 3) were very courteous, friendly, and professional throughout. They knew their business and kept us informed each step of the way.  They weren't afraid to ask questions to make sure they understood our expectations and to make sure they were thorough.  They were always careful in their handling of our property and made sure they were not careless or move too quickly to damage floors or walls. They proved free overnight storage to accommodate our needs to expedite and complete the move in a timely manner.   We were very pleased with the entire experience.        .

  12. Bestway moving: choose someone else.

I had a poor experience with Bestway moving in DC. Although, the sales persons were responsive and nice, the movers did a very sloppy job. Some antiques were damaged and two boxes were squashed. When I open the boxes, the items I asked them to pack had been literally thrown into the boxes. More importantly, they lost a box with electric and electronic equipments, worth $600 and they reimbursed me.. $19.80 (insurance based on weight). If you actually care for your belongings, I would recommend to use another company.

  13. Worstway Moving LLC - loook somewhere else!!

I am dealing with this issue through the BBB and filed a claim with this company; after telling my friends back in DC and VA of the multiple reasons why they should NOT use this company they encouraged me to write a review in as many forums as possible to perhaps assist other costumers on their decision. Here is the long-story short:

Pick up: I was initially told that they would be picking my stuff up between 12:00 and 4:00pm but they did not showed up until 7:00 p.m and finished after 11:00 p.m (the rule in my former apt was no Moving after 9:00 p.m), they never called me to inform me that they were running late and when I called at 4:30, 5:00 p.m I was told they would be there at 6:00, then 6:30..you get the idea.
The crew was nice and relatively fast but they did not have a tool-box in hand to take my bed apart. They asked me if I had a tool-box they could borrow (i did but it was packed already so they had to go back to the truck and unpack several boxes). With my tools and my help we took the bed apart - when I informed the manager of this situation days later I was told that the crew did not carry "specialized" tool boxes; the bed was bought in IKEA and the tool-box was the most basic tool-box you could find (paid $15.00 for it on Sears) and the team used a couple of wrenches that are available on any tool box.

Delivery: the company Called to CONFIRM 24hrs in advance that delivery was going to be between 13:00 and 3:00 pm but once again they did not show up until almost 7:00 pm; the driver did not want to back up the trailer into the loading dock on my apartment but he wanted me to pay the distance (in feet) from the platform on the dock to where the trailer was parked! At the end he agreed to give me a "discount" and not charge me for those extra feet.

Condition of the items: I had packed the fragile stuff myself but I asked them to pack other things including my Harman Kardon speakers and my large lamps. I was surprised that they did not take the lamps apart (it was almost 11 pm by this time so I guess they, understandably, wanted to go home) and when I asked them if the lamps were going to be OK they said yes. Both lamps arrived with dings and deep scratches and one of them is in so bad-shape that I can't keep it standing. The speakers stands are also damaged beyond repair. Also my 2 CD racks were only wrapped partially and got here with dents and deep scratches. I am still waiting to hear about my claim and i'd be happy to forward anyone the pictures I sent the company along with it.

Customer service: To be fair Jera tried to help when I talked to her but the series of excuses to my different complains (being late on pick up and delivery, damage to my items, over-charging me, etc) were simply not acceptable. I was told in multiple times that it was the nature of the business. Moreover, I had asked specifically if they sub-contracted someone to deliver the items and I was told that no, that they would be delivering them. This was not true, as there was another company delivering my items and the driver was not affiliated with the company at all (his words: I don't know anything about your agreement with the company, I just get hired to drop your stuff).

Cost:: I was quoted an initial amount and altohough I understand that it is hard for them to guess w/o seeing the number of boxes and the furniture, my apartment was 1 bedroom 1 person apartment (720 Square feet) with only few furniture items. The final quote was over 100% more and when I asked why the miscalculation the answer was that the items were bigger than expected (they did not take the lamps apart, the large TV console apart, etc).

Bottomline: I would strongly recommend you to look at another company before hiring this one, particularly if you are going to move out of state. It is a shame that this industry is not regulated at all as in it seems standard for moving companies to act as if they were doing you a favor moving your stuff eventhough they charge whatever they want.

Addendum: After I had placed this same review in Yelp, the "manager" Julia dared to call my office to aggresively question my why I had posted my review. I simply ignored her and hung up. So be careful with this company.
