  1. Dishonest liar and bad service

David the owner is the most dishonest person I’ve dealt with moving. After being 2 days late for pick he was 3 weeks late past the 21 day deadline. Has been reported on BBB and DOT and he should not be in business, even the drivers said that he is a liar and keeps changing company names every year due to lawsuits and complaints

  2. EXTORTION - asked for more cash then cancelled.

WATCH OUT - SCAM! David at +1 (818) 402-3139 texted me at 8:30pm the night before my scheduled move and said that he wouldn’t come unless I paid him more money for my upright piano. However I had already contracted for that piece and he wanted to be paid directly for it saying “what you paid isn’t enough, I’m not coming unless you pay me more”. This is absolutely illegal and extortion. He then canceled the next day. I’ve filed a complaint and will continue to make sure other people don’t get take advantage of. I was lucky I could find a mover at the last minute, but I’m sure other people face this type of illegal activity.

  3. The worst of the worst.

David Kohanim moved me from mainland to Hawaii. Multiple things broken and missing. He has inadequate insurance which doesn't cover over water moves. David Kohanim operates under multiple mover names (A City Mover, Call me Van Line, Hawaiian Island movers, Virgin moving and Storage, and prob many others) and different DOT numbers. He claims he moved me under (dot 2526974) hiding under name Success trucking but known to public as Virgin Moving and Storage. I hired him and he was known to me as Hawaiian Island Movers. He gets shut down and then changes his name to start all over again. After 2 and a half months of waiting for my belongings, a subcontracted mover showed up at my door with only part of my belongings and took the remaining balance for my move. Only then did he disclose that the rest of my goods would be arriving via DHX, a shipping company, in 2 days. I filed a police report and only had 1,000 cash returned so now this guy had 11,600 of my money and I had missing furniture and goods and a scratched up filthy motorcycle that was supposed to be crated and wasn't. Later on that week, I went with a friends truck and was able to get the shipping company to release the giant pallet with my items after a long wait and signing some bogus letter that would release David from liability. After unloading the truck I realized more stuff damaged and items missing. I tried to file a claim but the insurance company says that they do not cover over water moves so now I can't even file a claim because he has inadequate insurance which seems illegal to me if he is moving people to Hawaii. This whole move has been a nightmare and a shakedown from beginning to end. He has complete disregard for me or my belongings. He only wants to see how he can make the most money of you while getting your goods to you the cheapest possible way. Even if it means long wait times, losing or breaking your stuff. Run away from this guy and save your sanity. Look up all his other names and see what kind of poor excuse for a human being he really is.

  4. Worst moving experience ever!! Warning!!

They. Broke my antique furnishings. Cost more than they said. Put my thing in storage for months. Horrible!!

  5. Fraudulent Company.

Company held our possessions hostage till we paid an additional $5k more than what was quoted with no proof of any official weigh tickets justifying the increased costs. In addition, our stuff was delivered a month late and was severely damaged when it arrived.

  6. Ripoff and Extremely Dishonest.

Call Me Van Line was enlisted thru a broker I hired and they were one of the worst experiences of my entire life! I had a binding estimate from the broker but when Call Me arrived at my storage unit in Texas they increased the estimate by more than $500 stating that it was about 3500 lbs as opposed to my initial estimate of 2700 lbs. No weight tickets were ever provided to support the increase and yet David the owner said that he would have his driver pass me by if I didn't pay this price upfront. I refused to pay without proof that there was indeed an increase because I didn't even think that it was 2700 lbs but was taking it higher as a worse case scenario. David held my things for nearly a month. When he decided that he would deliver, David had his driver deliver my things on the side of the road. It was a Sunday and I was forced to rent a uhaul and drive it and I am disabled. I was then forced to hire helpers the next day to unload me. And if all of that wasn't horrible enough, my loveseat and couch were both damaged beyond repair along with other damages AND David refuses to compensate. There are missing items as well. I can only hope that my stress, frustration and humiliation will assist in someone else not going thru even half of what I went thru. This company is the absolute worst moving company ever! Just check out their complaints with the BBB and on the Rip-off site; I sure wish the broker had not used them, just horrible!!

  7. Pirates are nicer and better than..

There are so many ways for them to cost you money! All with the promise that it will be less if..

Make sure to read the contract!!
Hard to get a hold of.
They said they would be here to move me by a date I needed because I was a renter and had to be out of the place for the new renters. Then I get a call that they will be here next week!!
So they did make good and came, but they came early and I was not finished packing and that messed me up.
I can say that the movers themselves are real nice guys and worked hard to help me. But that is what they get paid for right.
I called a number of times and left messages for them to call me and that took for ever. They finally called me. But we still don't know when my stuff will get here.
Not real happy. Oh, and I don't have my stuff yet. Don't know when they will deliver. And I we will see just how much more money they will ask me for.
I will update this post later after I get my stuff. Maybe it will get better. I don't know? So far I have little faith in them.
I didn't even get to move all my stuff bc of the worry of cost going up.
I only put an approximation of my charges so far, I will update cost after I get final bill. Hoping for the best.

  8. Scam.

THIS IS A SCAM! Do NOT use this company if you value your belongings or money. I booked a move through New Amsterdam Van Lines, who are also part of this scam. I was on the phone for an hour with New Amsterdam giving measurements of every piece of furniture and boxes. I was told that pricing was weight based and the truck would be there Friday. So Friday I get a call from Chris who says the truck I was promised was full and they were sending another truck on Saturday at 10am. I told him that was not the deal and he basically said there was nothing I could do but cancel and lose my $700 deposit. I had no idea New Amsterdam was a broker company and didn't actually do the move. 11am on Saturday, still no movers. I called New Amsterdam and they were closed. I finally get a call from "Dave" from Call Me Van Lines who seemed to think his driver was already there. I said there was no truck and he said he would investigate and call me back. THREE HOURS LATER Dave calls me back and says the truck will be there in 15 min. I had called over 6 times in those 3 hours and he would not answer my call. 15 min turned into an hour. The truck, who was supposed to be there at 10am didn't arrive until 2pm in a rented Budget truck. The driver walks through the house and says, "There's way more stuff than we expected." So he gives me a new quote for over $9,000! I said no way and why did the price change when I had given an inventory list of everything. They said they had estimated 800 cubic ft and this would take up over 2000. I said, "This was a weight based move." They said no. Chris gets involved and Dave calls to tell me he's sending his guys to lunch while I figure this out. Chris calls me back and says the best he can do is $6800. It was too late to rent a moving truck, so we just ate the cost. The movers return 2 hrs later. They didn't have all the tools to disassemble the furniture and kept asking me for my tools, which were packed. At one point, because they did not have the proper ratchet attachment, they just unscrewed the legs of my antique dining table. But since this is an antique, one of the screws was stripped, so they just ripped the screw out, damaging the wood in that part. After they loaded, they said we owed them 50%. I handed them a credit card and the driver said, "Cash or check only." I told them we paid the deposit on a card, so he makes a call (presumably to Dave) and says someone will call me the next day to get a credit card payment. Then I notice that they have left 2 of the dining room chairs. So I asked them and they said there was no room! I said, "What am I supposed to do about the chairs?" and they just shrugged their shoulders. The driver was having me sign paperwork and said we could write good comments about them. So I said, "If you fit those 2 chairs on the truck, I will write a good comment." And guess what? They fit the chairs on the truck! Two days later, Dave calls at 10 pm to tell me I haven't paid. I told him what his driver said about the credit card and he said no he doesn't accept credit cards, no matter what his driver said. Now he had our things and could demand whatever he wanted. I didn't have that kind of cash and he told me to get a cash advance on my credit card!! I asked him if I could just come get my things. He said they were at a warehouse in Phoenix and I could get them for $2500!! A few days later, I contact Dave to tell him when I would be to Phoenix and he told me that he had the truck take the things to LA because he doesn't have to pay a storage fee there. I tell him when I will be coming and he said he could be there to let me into the warehouse. So we fly into Vegas to rent a truck because it was $1000 cheaper. I call Dave to tell him we will be there in 5 hrs. When we are an hour away, he tells me it would be the next day! The next day we show up and call him and he says he is closed for the day and hangs up. Turns out he just rents a storage unit at the facility. We called the police who took our statement and said we could file extortion charges on him. The manager of the facility said that she had another man come with the same story. She calls Dave and tells him that's not how they do business and he can't stay there if this is going to happen. The next day he refuses to show us our things until we give him $2500 CASH! He told us that was how it worked and call the police. So we called the police AGAIN. Then he leaves to go get food! When he comes back, we had worked out a solution with the manager and owner of the storage facility for him to sign a paper saying he would not lock us out of the unit until we had gotten our things out if we paid him the $2500. So we gave him a money order. Once he had the money, he told his men to unlock the unit, take our things out and then he leaves! But that was fine, we wanted him gone. And SHOCKER! We fit everything we had into approx 1200 cubic ft. Waaay less than what he was charging us for. TOTAL SCAM!

  9. Delivered all morning.

I got my computer back! I was just delivered by this company this morning. It feels good to sit down on my misplaced couch and not unpack right now and write this review instead, because when someone says save the tip and write me a good review online instead, you order breakfast food to your new house, get online and start typing good vibes this company's way. I was pretty surprised to find the two bad reviews about these guys. They were truly not bad, rather they were fantastic! They just unloaded 4000+ pounds of furniture into my place in under 3 hours. I should be at work right now, but they finished so quickly I had time to spare. The last time I moved I spent the entire rest of my week cleaning my place from the movers mess. This company laid blankets throughout my entire home and then swept up before they left my home in Long Beach. When they delivered in West Palm they did the same. The office staff, and especially the girls in customer services, kept me laughing and at ease throughout the entire move. It took about 4 weeks total when all was said and done but since I shared a truck and didn't have to tip on delivery I saved a pretty penny using a mover. I probably would of spent more doing it myself knowing how unorganized I am, and seeing how they did everything it really is a skill, moving, who'd of thought. Anyways 5 stars and hats off to this company. Top notch service.

  10. Horrible to work with DO NOT USE very unprofessional.

This is a very crooked company. After the intial estimate of $200o they uped teh price by almost double a few days before the move. Then required me to pay by credit card up front. The actual mover was a sub contractor. Furthermore, I was told that the freight would be weighed before and after pick up and I would be credited for any overcharge. When I inquired the day of the move I was told that 'somoeone told you wrong'. We do not credit. I am now disupitng the credit card charge. During the week before the move I called several times to check details such as acutal dates and was hung up on by several employees including the 'manager. They would not provide reciepts for any of my payments.
I am now disupitng the credit card charge.I am also filing a BB complaint and turning this over to our state attorney general for fraudulant charges.

  11. Bait and switch! Crooks!

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! They are CROOKS! Quoted me 2800 for a move from LA to Michigan. Paid 10% to reserve their services, then 50% of the remainder by credit card when they came for pickup. Over a month later, many texts, phone calls and emails lead to nothing but false information and constant changing of the terms of our agreement. The Saturday of July 4th weekend (when most banks are closed), the owner David tells me they will be delivering SUNDAY (after telling me they only operate on business working days), and that I had to pay the full balance in cash to the drivers. Not 1260, but 2520. I was told my card would be credited. When I pushed back, they threatened to hold my items for ransom in a storage locker and mail me the key when I finally paid. After promising me the credit was in process, I reluctantly agreed to pay the full amount and purchased a money order for $2520. Then, the morning of deliver (Tuesday, not Sunday as originally instructed), I was told money order wasn't acceptable, CASH ONLY.

Fast forward to today. BBB complaint ongoing, they say they want to credit my card back, but refuse to respond back to me directly. Credit card dispute ongoing, and the owner decides to tell them that the amount owed was actually $4000, because of additional charges accrued! When I called and (finally) spoke to him in person, his response: "Then dispute the charge again!" followed by "I'll see you in court!". Scum of the earth. Bait and switch. Crooks.

THIS MAN SHOULD BE IN JAIL.

  12. Moving Long Distance.

I used CMVL to move long distance. They took nearly 3 weeks to deliver my items. If I had known it was going to be stored for 3 weeks, it would have been ok. Instead they let me believe every day that it would be in the next day or two. So I sat in an empty apartment for 3 weeks. Had to buy an air mattress and some cooking utensils to get by. If they had told me 3 weeks, I would have made other arrangements. They lied to me every time I talked to them. When my things finally arrived, the movers unloaded quickly and left. Over the next week, I discovered many boxes missing, items broken and damaged. I submitted a claim and 3 months later, I have yet to get a response regarding any type of compensation.

  13. Professional and Efficient.

Thank you Andrew for setting up my move and
making me feel comfortable with the process. I'm not sure if you guys put out
info for a quote before, but I got bombarded with a bunch of companies. Andrew
just sounded more professional and that I was going to get it right the first
    time.

The day the movers got there they were very
professional and the head mover made sure the guys disassemble my items
carefully and pack them into the truck. I did end up paying a little more for
packing materials as I had 2 mirrors and my TV that I didn't feel comfortable
with just blankets covering them. I also added my pool table as I didn't end up
selling it like I originally intended (you’re going to have to take me up on my
offer for a game next time!).

On delivery my received the items as I was out
of town. The crew was different than the ones that showed up, but just as
efficient. They placed my items where she told them and my wife fed them pizza.
Thanks again, will use again for my next move.

  14. Great service.

Ohhhh the joys of moving. For the 5th time in 3 years. Thankfully 3 of those 5 times have been
within the same building. Still, it sucks.
Last week I called Call Me Van Line to assist us with our move A THOUSAND MILES AWAY.
Everything was professional from my initial contact on through to the completion of the job. Upon
calling, you speak with the person who schedules the job. Scheduling was a breeze. As a matter of
fact when we learned that our building screwed up our move date, I had to call my rep and
reschedule. The staff person was gracious and offered me several dates. You appreciate anyone
    who makes a move smoother!
A day or two before the move I received a call from Dana confirming the date. In a land of ohhhhhhh
such awful customer service, this normal courtesy made me warm inside!
The movers showed up on time, friendly and funny and ready to work. They were both so helpful
and overall did a great job.
Honestly the move was so much less stressful than I anticipated. Now THAT is worth billions of
    stars!

  15. Best service.

I had a last minute move situation and needless to say not a clue on how to move. I had a small budget and really couldn't afford more than that, but I also needed to be out of my apartment and to my new job in less than a months time so needed to stick to both a budget and a time constraint was seeming to be impossible. Thankfully I hired Andrew at Call Me Van Line for the job, and boy were my expectations exceeded beyond belief! Andrew is not just a mover to me anymore. He's a friend, and someone I can trust. From the very first time we talked he was very straight forward with me on everything from how to pack, the dos and donts, and even reminded me on the little things like changing my address and cable bill etc. Everyone that came to move me was so helpful, and nice. They were funny nice guys too. I am just so happy to be able to write a review that is good for once. Other businesses need to take note from this company. Tired of receiving bad service and having to pay full price, or even worse, tip on top of it all. Tired of it! And im tired of it now because I finally see what REAL good service is, its what this company stands for clearly. Best service hands down!
