  1. Pleasently Good Movers.

I was searching for a mover for a couple weeks, I got quotes from 4 movers , some mover gave me very low quotes that I didn't even believe. I talk to Chester County and the told me everything up front, even though their quote was much higher then the others. I went with them because I didn't want any surprises on moving day! So on the day of my move the crew arrived in the scheduled time between 9 & 10. The worked hard all day , got us in our new place with no problems. The move came under the cost I was quoted, I was so happy I tipped the guys the difference in the price.

  2. Do Not Use Chester County Movers!

If I could give a negative stars review I would. First thing first NEVER EVER USE THIS COMPANY TO MOVE YOU. We had a window of 7am-9am for our movers to show up. I received a call from the office at 9am letting me know that they would be late. ummmm they kind of already ARE late right? The woman was extremely rude and not helpful. 10am , 11am, 12pm rolls around I call the office and the woman hangs up on me. This is not even the worst part of the story it gets waaaaay better! So at 1pm a big white truck with a dent in the front and a white piece of paper duct taped to the passenger side door with Chester County Moving written in black sharpie. I knew then this was not going to go well. When scheduling I specifically requested the movers bring booties to wear because we have white carpets. No booties. So I run out to home depot to get some. At every turn I have to beg these guys to actually wear their booties. It was raining outside and they kept comming in and out of the house refusing to wear the shoe covers. they destroyed the carpets at the townhouse and got a huge mud stain on the carpet of the new house. But it gets better.. They managed to destroy 1 couch, two headboards, one nightstand , one end table and put a huge gash in the top of a 5k desk! Now I mentioned they showed up at 1pm.. late ..but had 4 movers to move a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom + office townhome. Guess what time they left the new house?? 6am!! Yes folks 6am and they did not even get everything out of the old place. We had to hire College Hunks the next day to move the rest of the stuff and move the couch out of the basement that they said that they could not figure out how to get up the stairs. Guess what? 3 young men figured it out.but what I forgot to tell you is that at 4am one of them has the nerve to approach me and ask if I would mind running out to get one of the other guys some cigarettes? Really?? So finally 6am rolls around and the leader of the crew informs me that they left their dolly in the garage at the other house and if I could drive over there to get it for him. My fiance said no and that we would get it for them this week. He then proceed to tell us that we would be charged $300 for the dolly and not given a credit for any of the damages of we didn't go get it because they needed it for their next job. So I drove over to the old house at 6am out of courtesy since they did have another job at 7am. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They are slow, on their phones all day instead of working. They don't care about your belongings and they surely don't care about being on time. Absolutely AWFUL!!

  3. Don't be fooled.

When I started looking for a mover to my new house, I had received at least 7 different quotes and Chester County Moving and Storage was the cheapest and I was also told that they would disassemble, wrap and reassemble all of my furniture which I thought was a great service. I was given a time-fame of 7 hours for moving and 11/2 hours of drive time (it's 50 minutes between the two stops) When I explained to Jessica that all of my belongings were in one place in my friends' basement and had already been disassembled and mostly wrapped, she indicated that the job would probably take a lot less time in that case and I would be charged only for the time used. I also told her I had a stop at a storage bin first and she said that even with that, I should expect less than the estimate on time because all my belongings were ready to go and in one space. I don't know when I am going to finally realize that you get what you pay for.

For starters, I was given an arrival time between 9-10 a.m. I received a call around 9:30 where they told me that they were running about an hour out. They arrived at 11:00 and told me that it was because the truck had broken down and had to be fixed. Fine, not a huge deal- but they also told me the lift to the back of the truck was also broken. This turned out to be a huge deal because it took 2 of the 4 men the entire move time to work on getting the stuff on and off the truck- so I essentially only had 2 actively moving things. After about three hours- which was so much longer than expected (I've never seen movers not use a dolly to carry multiple boxes before..they carried them one by one) they informed me that the truck was full and they could not fit the items going to storage. I explained to them that when I moved from Chicago to West Grove only 5 months prior I got everything in a 26 ft Uhaul they said that their truck was only 24 ft and that must be why. I had to scramble around trying to identify which items I could leave behind. Now, I have to go back again with another Uhaul and pay more movers for the stuff I had to leave and incur a few more hundred dollars in expense.

They left West Grove at 2:05 p.m. and said they would meet me at the house and were probably stopping for something to eat. I waited to leave because I didn't want to sit in an empty house until they arrived so we got on the road at 2:30. At 3:10 they called and asked where I was. I told them I was still 20 minutes away and asked if they were going to get something to eat and he said no. When I arrived at around 2:40, they were standing around smoking and told me they didn't stop to get something to eat because they were running low on time and didn't want me to have to pay more. That confused me because the clock should stop if they're having lunch. Either way however, I felt bad so I offered to get them McDonalds. I drove to McDonalds and Walgreens (because they brought nothing with them to drink) for waters and spent about $40. When I brought it all back, they stood outside and took an additional 20 minutes to eat so I really didn't understand how they were "saving me time". They finally got to work around 3:30 and said I had until 6:15 for it to be done and that I had severely underestimated the number of boxes I had (I had quoted 60 and I'm fairly certain I didn't have much more than that) but he told me that we should still be ok and that I would just be charged the estimate. He also told me that the drive time took longer than allocated and that he was "hooking me up" by not charging extra. (They left at 2:05 and called me at 3:10 asking where I was..so not sure how it took longer than an hour and a half.)

I again only saw 2 out of the 4 movers and only 1 was actively going up and down the stairs. After a little while they told me that none of my dressers were going to fit upstairs in the bedroom. They did try to fit a couple of different ones, but gave up as soon as they didn't fit the first way they tried it. They told me at first that nothing was going to fit upstairs because of the bannister and it took my daughter figuring out that she could remove it before they were even willing to try. As the day wore on, the foreman kept telling me they were running short on time and wanted to know if they could just put all the boxes in one place for now and then go back when they were done and see where they were on time. I agreed "for now" but explained that I have sciatica and back issues and my daughter can't lift everything on her own, so I really needed everything that belonged upstairs to get there. The mover going up and down the most was very pleasant initially, but as the day wore on, he kept complaining more and more and talking about how he's never had a job so hard (I moved into an 1100 sq ft house with 2 flights of stairs), and started to get very cranky when questioned. When I found a few boxes that said "bedroom" in the downstairs hall, he ignored me when I asked him to take them upstairs. They took many breaks. The foreman then tells me that he didn't understand why I was told that they would assemble anything because they don't assemble anything that they personally didn't dissemble. (Although when I asked if they had tools for the assembly back in West Grove he told me they did and never mentioned anything about it being an issue). They told me they couldn't get my bedframe upstairs because they didn't have an allen wrench (but I thought they had the basic tools for assembly of household items). They waited until the end to bring in most of the furniture, which I thought was quite backwards because there were boxes in the way and they were already complaining how tired and in pain they were. The foreman kept saying they would be done by the deadline, but they still had tons of stuff outside by then and he charged me another hour and a half when all was said and done. Before they left, I did a walk through and discovered that almost everything that was supposed to go upstairs in the bedrooms were sitting in the living and dining room. When I brought up that they needed to bring it upstairs as agreed, they said "no, we are done". I cannot move around in either room because there is so much stuff that should have gone upstairs. There was an outside metal table supposed to go on the porch, they told me without measuring that it wouldn't fit and refused to bring it up. When I told them they couldn't leave it on the front lawn, they ignored me so my daughter had to haul it around onto the side porch for storage. Btw, it does fit. I didn't even see the full extent of how little they actually did until after they left which is why I actually tipped them (because I always tip).

Couple of things- I understand I may have underestimated the number of boxes. However, my belongings were still all in one place and already wrapped and disassembled. And it still took them 3 hours to load. How long would it have taken them if it was a normal house with stuff in every room (including multiple levels).

I hired 3 movers off of a link on the uhaul website to load the truck back in Chicago and it only took them 2 hours and it all fit.

The stairs in the house are steep and narrow because the house is old. However, I've had worse moves with third floor apartments etc in the past and it wasn't an issue.

Putting the items in and taking them out without a loading lift took FOREVER.

The allocated drive time was an hour and half, it took they an hour and 5, which would leave me owed 20 mins. Then they stood around for another 20 eating the food I bought them.

I have tried to call multiple times since then to give them a chance to make it right, and they will not call me back.

My teenage daughter who weights 100 lbs has had to cart night stands, a fake fireplace, huge heavy suitcases, rolled carpeting and a ton of boxes up the stairs by herself because I cannot help her. Why hire professional movers to end up having to do all that yourself?

Again, how did it end up taking 8 and 1/2 hours to do such a small house when we didn't even end up going to storage?

I agree with another reviewer, I think they pull people in with the cheapest estimate and then manipulate the situation to get more. I've also never dealt with movers who told me, point blank that they were done and were leaving before the job was complete. I feel extremely misled and over charged and clearly the company has no desire to try to make this right. Go with someone else a little more expensive with good reviews. You'll be glad you did.

  4. Went the extra mile.

I moved with this Company and I must say the experience with excellent. My move was a last minute move because another company did not commit to the price nor time frame that they were suppose to move me in. I was in a panic to say the least. However when I contacted Chester County Moving and Storage, the young lady I spoke with was very friendly and obliged me with all my needs. I had to leave this review because I was stuck in a bind and they really came through .

  5. Good Job!!

They moved me from West Chester to New York, on Sunday after another company , whose name I wont mention at this time. Left me stranded, with no movers showing up. I called Chester County Movers, they were much higher. They packed, moved and delivered me the same day. I tipped the guys $100 each!

  6. Horrendous company and service.

If I could leave less than one star I would. THIS COMPANY IS HORRENDOUS. I would recommend getting another company even if it is a little more expensive. They try and get you by offering lower prices but they showed up 3 hours late and gave no warning they would not be arriving within the contract arrival time. Additionally, after nearly 20 phones calls to the main office (all ignored or unanswered) someone called back and said they would be another 40 minutes before arriving.

  7. AWFUL Experience.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Terrible experience, little to no follow up and NO accountability. You get what you pay for, which overall was a bad moving experience and no accountability after the fact. It took 3 movers 3.5 hours to wrap and load only furniture into the truck. They were moving very slow throughout the wrapping and loading process, there even times when two of the guys seemed to be standing around or watching one guy shrink wrap furniture. Once the movers thought they had everything loaded they decided to close the truck and get ready to leave the house. My husband stopped them and asked them why they didn't take some of the other items and in which they told him that I told them they didn't have to move those things, which was not the case. Since they were so slow moving my husband didn't want to ask them to go back in the house to get the other items because he didn't want to wait around for them any longer to finish loading the truck. My husband confirmed with them before they left that they had the correct address and they did not. Once the movers arrived to our new house we walked through and I told them where we wanted the furniture setup. They insisted that our one bed frame would not fit upstairs without even trying, at this point we were so frustrated that we told them we would do it ourselves, which my husband was able to do by himself. There was also a scratch on our wood floor from them pushing the couches across them. Additionally they left a bunch of empty tape rolls and shrink wrap rolls all over the house we moved out of. I reached out to Chester County Movers about all these issues and nothing was done. They reviewed my claim for the scratch in the floor, but I was told the movers pointed it out to me and I signed a document indicating that I was aware the scratch was preexisting, which it was not. I have reached out twice by email to ask for a copy of the document I signed and I called, I still have not received a copy.

  8. Do not use these movers.

They play the bait and switch game. don't listen to your needs. just sends what ever truck they have (& truck is unmarked) - I used them for 2 moves and both times they low-balled pricing. and then would not unload until I paid them. Lady is office was awful, so rude.

  9. Off-the-charts bad!

DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE! I am moving in 3 days, and had to find a last-minute replacement because they were total no-shows on my scheduled moving day. They did not show, and they did not even bother to call and let me know they wouldn't make it. As a result, I have to take a day off of work due to their total incompetence. They are not open weekends (which for a moving company boggles the mind by itself), so I had no one to contact to check to see if anyone was actually coming. Their main office number has a voicemail that was too full to leave a message, again inexcusable. After waiting for (4) hours and totally exasperated, I sent an email to their main office, and did not receive a response for a further (3) hours, and it was simply to tell me that they did not have me scheduled. I had a written agreement with them for the correct date and time, so how I could not have been scheduled is incomprehensible. Luckily I was able to find someone last minute, but they made moving, which is stressful enough when everything goes right, 10 x's more stressful. Under no circumstances would I ever use this company, nor would I recommend them for anything. I cannot emphasize enough how bad and unprofessional this company is on every level.

  10. Good job would use again!

I scheduled a move with Jessica in the start of December. I thought that someone came out to do the estimate, but I had to compile a list over the phone with her. After what seemed like forever I finally agreed to set things up.

I am so happy that I did! They came in and wrapped EVERYTHING in either blankets, or boxes. The moved at a pace that ensured my belongings didn't bump or rub against anything. The guys were kind and respectful, and even asked where they were allowed to take a cigarette break. I could not have been happier with the load. The unload was a little different. I watched them struggle with getting the sofa up the stairs and I felt bad because they did not want to give up.

While it took a lot longer to unload then they expected I honestly couldn't complain about a things. I believe that they were worth every Penny I spent. I just wish I could have given Jessica a tip, for dealing with my cranky behind while she tried to set things up with me. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area moving.

  11. Go Elsewhere.

From beginning to end, our experience with Chester County Moving was a nightmare. Today marks two weeks since I last heard from Jessica, the manager who swore to me that she was going to do whatever it took to make things right. The week before our move, we received no confirmation and Jessica was unreachable by email or phone, voicemail full. We finally got a call the night before, in a dead panic after spending hours to find a back up truck and movers. The team was slow and fought amongst themselves, with one worker walking off the job. Two of the movers were sent home en route to our new house and replacements were sent. We were credited with 30 minutes after hours were wasted. While one mover folded blankets, the other five stood around and explained to us that we had to pay for blanket folding time. To top it all off, my wife's cell phone was stolen and had to be replaced to the tune of several hundred dollars. This company is not local; the movers come in from Philadelphia and have terrible attitudes. They used profanity on the job and had no customer service skills whatsoever. I can't say enough to warn you to avoid this company if you care about your move.

  12. Moving Company Scam.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!  When planning my move, I received an estimate from several moving companies including from Jessica, office manager from Chester County Moving and Storage.  We had a discussion about me having 2 IKEA beds and an IKEA closet that would require a high level of disassembly and reassembly.  Jessica assured me that their movers are experienced and do that very efficiently all the time.  She said I would have to sign a waiver because that kind of furniture is not intended to be put together more than once, but that it was just a formality because they had only ever had one issue with a piece of furniture not going back together correctly.  After this conversation, Jessica gave me an estimate that it would take 3 hours of work (4 hours total including the mandatory 1 hour of travel time) with 4 movers.  I later found out that this was the lowest time that companies are allowed to quote and that it was likely fraud in order to get my bid.  The nightmare began when Jessica got the date wrong and began sending me multiple emails and phone calls a month early while I was out of state on vacation, demanding I get signed documents to her that day.  The actual moving day was even worse.  The movers sauntered in an hour late and kept that pace all day.  They were far from experienced and professional.  Sometimes one would be taping something, and the others would stand there watching.  One spent an hour locked in my bathroom without even asking to use it.  They didn't bring anything to drink, so we went to the store and bought drinks for them.  It took 5 hours for 4 men to load up 19 items, and some of the items were a bike, a mirror, etc.  When we got 1.5 miles to the new house, they held my belongings hostage until I agreed to pay over double the estimate I had been given by Jessica (of note, they didn't even transport everything that I had listed so it should have been less).  I showed them a form from Jessica that I had signed stating that the movers must deliver my belongings if I give them the estimate plus 10% (apparently a government policy put in place to protect consumers from this exact situation).  This would have allowed me to sort it out during the next business day, but they refused to honor the agreement.  Since it was the weekend, they told me there was no one for me to call to sort it out until Monday.  I caved to the extortion in order to get my stuff and get them moving (they were still on the clock and wouldn’t unload until I paid).  This time they estimated 7.5 hours total of work (250% the original estimate with more items that got me to choose them) and included charges for supplies (Jessica had told me all supplies were included) for a total of almost $600 over Jessica's estimate.  After I paid, they put the furniture haphazardly in my house, left garbage all over the place, including in the street, refused to reassemble my furniture and left without completing the job.  They broke the leg off my vanity.  Screws required for reassemble for the furniture were tossed loose on the floor, other hardware just missing.  My jewelry box was left with jewelry tumbling out onto the floor.  They couldn't find the feet to my futon and said I should just check around the old house.  When asked why they weren't putting the furniture back together, they said they were out of time (they once again underestimated with 7.5 hours).  They said I would need to pay them in cash immediately for them to stay to reassemble the furniture (AKA finish the job they were hired to do).  Since I don't carry that kind of cash ($118/hour) and they wouldn't let me run to the ATM or have someone bring it, there was nothing that I could do to prevent them from leaving.  One of the movers spent close to an hour on the clock trying to make me sign forms stating that everything was delivered in good condition, I had received the services I had asked for, and the moving company should not be responsible for the extra time it took (ALL FALSE).  During the time he was harassing me about that, the other three guys were doing nothing.  When I called and emailed the office on Monday to try to sort things out, there was no answer by phone.  I got an email response from Jessica saying that I will not be reimbursed because "You paid for a service that was rendered to you."  When I responded by email to say that I would like to explain what happened, she emailed that the movers had already told her what happened.  When I said that I would like to avoid going to court and planned to write negative reviews online, she said that I was blackmailing her and that they will not communicate with me any further.  She did not even acknowledge my report of the broken vanity.  Now I have to take them to court to try to get them to do what's right.  It is a scam to give a quote for the lowest possible hours allowed (knowing it will take longer) in order to hook business, then once you have the customer's belongings, force the customer to pay over double what you quoted, then once you have the money, leave without finishing the job.  There are laws to protect consumers from this criminal behavior, and I hope Chester Count Moving and Storage will be held responsible for taking advantage of a vulnerable customer.

  13. Worst moving company ever.

We had to get the police involved! I have never experienced such an abysmal and unprofessional moving company. We had to involve the police because they were refusing to remove our stuff from the truck until they could find a clipboard they lost. The police saved us! Movers refused a walk through at the end even though we were guaranteed that! Beds were left in shambles, cardboard still on items!

  14. Stay away from this dishonest company.

I don't even know where to begin. Our pick up was over an hour late. The dispatcher continued to lie to us and hung up on my wife. When the workers showed, they did a decent job packing our furniture and boxes, but then forgot a critical component to our bed. I had to drive back to the original location to retrieve it and they charged me extra for the time it took. They damaged our bed but never offered paperwork to fill out so my complaint afterwards was denied and now any effort to call them goes unanswered. I wasn't even asking for much back except the repair of our mattress and an hour refund for the time I retrieved the forgotten part, while their crew sat around and feasted on pizza. I have left messages every day for weeks and they won't call back. No one there will direct me to the owner. They seem to avoid mentioning his name. I think they operate from separate locations to avoid angry customers. I hope that everyone who plans to use their services reads this review and goes elsewhere.
