  1. Awful!!

I honestly wish I would've look this place up before scheduling my move with this terrible company. I moved into my apartment on Friday and had the worst moving experience. I called a month ago to get a quote and secure a date for my move in. I spoke with the manager who asked me in specific details about my move. I told him I have one bedroom and a living room that needs to be packed up. He assured me the move would be 3 hours 2 movers $70 per hour plus a one time truck fee of $70 for a total of $290. When the rudest mover I've ever met Peter arrived he told me this will be a 5 hour job and I told him I have been talking to his boss multiple times for the past month and he assured me no more than 3 so he charged my card for 3 hours. Let me tell you they took their slow time packing up everything I even walked in on him sitting on my bedroom floor on his phone LOOKING AT A PICTURE OF MY LICENSE AND CREDIT CARD. YES you read that right he took a picture of my personal information on his phone. I should've known right then and there how sketchy this place was. Peter refused to take my items that were fragile like my mirror, pictures, and tvs because he stated he does not want to be responsible if they break because if they do the money is coming out of his paycheck. What kind of idiotic moving service is this where they cannot secure the items they place on their truck?? I had a big tote full of dishes which I told him is very fragile and very heavy so I cannot take it in my car it has to go in the truck and they have to be careful. When they were finally done packing everything up I went outside to my car to drive to my new apartment he comes up to me and says he was given a $70 ticket and he is going to add it to my bill. I was absolutely FURIOUS because I never once told him to park illegally on the street and I refused to pay. I then went to the apartment where he stopped at a women house ten minutes away to pick up a mirror I purchased and even though my apartment was 20 minutes away from my old apartment and the mirror was located 10 minutes down the road it still took him AN HOUR to get to my new apartment. When Peter finally arrived I told him he has to come into the lobby so the concierge can explain to him how to use the loading dock. He was so rude to her and kept interrupting her telling her he knows what to do and he's worked on this building before. So even though he claims he knows what to do he parked on the opposite side of the building and tried moving my furniture in through the lobby and the concierge told him he can't do that. He then pulled me to the side and said we need to finish the paperwork before he continues. He proceeds to give me a bill of $360 for 3 more hours!! I was furious because I told him I am not paying that I do not need 3 hours I need 2 so the total should be $140. Peter then says no this will take 3 more hours which will be $210 and I added on the one time truck fee of $70 plus the $70 parking ticket I got. I start screaming telling him I already paid the truck fee this morning and again I did not tell you to park illegally I am not paying for your parking ticket. He then says f** it and walks away and says he is not moving my stuff. At this point I was confused and followed him to see where he was going so he starts taking my belongings off the truck and tells his worker to help him as he starts throwing my things on the side of the building. The concierge hears and sees me telling him to stop and she says he can't leave your stuff here and I try telling him she said that and he says I do not care. Peter was being very aggressive with my personal belongings throwing them on the ground at one point his worker had to tell him to stop this is not necessary calm down. As I was asking him to stop he just blatantly ignored me calling me a b** numerous times while he proceeded to throw my stuff on the ground. As I'm asking him to stop and this is in front of the entire building which was absolutely humiliating because everyone saw what was happening. Two different people and his worker had to intervene asking him to stop asking what he was doing and he starts explaining a [EDIT] story which was not even true. He knew he was ripping me off and even the people he tried explaining the story to said it does not make sense. I tried calling his boss who I had been speaking to the past month explaining he is throwing my belongings on the ground and he says pay your bill and I explain to him I have no problem paying for 2 more hours but he is charging me an extra truck fee and his parking ticket. His boss then proceeds to tell me I should've paid for a parking spot for him. ?? I live in NW DC where there is street parking you can't pay for street parking you have to park where you can that is legal he parked illegally in front of a stop sign, HIS BOSS THEN SAYS I DON'T CARE AND HANGS UP ON ME. The residents who tried to intervene were just as shocked as I was that a worker was being so disrespectful to me and his boss was even worst. At this point I was frustrated and wanted my stuff moved inside so I just said forget it I will pay and file a dispute with my card company. I said I will pay about 10 times and Peter still ignored me and keep throwing my stuff on the ground. Another resident intervened and said she is telling you she will pay you so why are you still being so disrespectful. He finally stopped and looks at me and says are you going to pay me and I said what did I just say 10 minutes ago yes now stop wasting my time and move my stuff off the street. One of the residents stayed downstairs with him to make sure he does not leave while I go upstairs to get my card. I come back and pay after an hour of doing this back and fourth so he basically got paid an hour for free for calling me a b** and throwing my personal property on the ground. When the move was finally complete I was missing a $90 trash can they never brought up which honestly probably was stolen considering they had my stuff on the side of the building for anyone to come take. Oh and remember those dishes I asked them to be careful with? When I opened the tote I had 2 broken plates, 1 broken glass, and 1 broken wine glass. I can honestly say this was the worst moving experience I have ever had and urge everyone NOT TO DO BUSINESS WITH THEM GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!! They are an absolute rip off will give you a quote and not even stick with it. There is absolutely no reason why two bedrooms should've taken 6 hours to do. the only good part about this move was the worker James. He saw exactly how Peter was treating me and tried intervening multiple times and Peter was a complete d** to James basically telling him I am your boss you do what I say. If James were not there or I received a worker similar to Peter things would've been a lot worst. I had several people witness what happened and asked me who they are so they can assure they never do business with them. I posted this same review to our community board of our apartment building so everyone can see what a joke and a scam these people are. MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT EVER HIRE THEM!

  2. Cheats and Awful People.

DO NOT TRUST THESE FOLKS WITH YOUR THINGS. They are scam artists and recently stole everything that a very hardworking Latin@ woman owned. These people are going to have the worst karma for lifetimes to come. Do not use this business. Shame on you whoever is behind this company! THEY WILL ROB YOU BLIND. NO DECENY. This is a horrible horrible scam going on and I am reviewing so you don't fall for it!

  3. Thieves.

They'll rob you blind, toss it in a warehouse then laugh about it when you try to do anything. Or they'll charge you ridiculous hidden fees you were never notified about. Or both if they're feeling like being extra giant [EDIT] stains. Do not EVER trust them. This entire company is a disgusting scam and should be shut down, and their owners charged and thrown to rot in jail.

  4. Hidden costs and unprofessional.

I received the initial quote from City Movers DC, utilizing Thumbtack.  I spoke with Andrey Ov, who quoted me $240 for a move they indicated would take 3-4 hours.  That seemed reasonable compared to other moving companies.  However, Andrey would not commit to the $240 in writing.  My movers were scheduled to be at my apartment at 3:00.  They were an hour late.  A man by the name of Petro (also known as Peter) Kavalnyov arrived with two other men to conduct my move.  The original receipt did not indicate the moving company was "City Movers DC" but Hercules Services LLC.

It was apparent, right away, the two other men have no experience moving furniture or packing up a moving truck.  In fact, one of the movers indicated this was the first time he'd worked with Peter.  The three men were slow and clumsy, at times, with my furniture.  The entire packing process took about 3 hours, so I know we'll already be over the initially scheduled time (reason why Andrey would not commit to $240 in writing).  After I escort the three men, and the truck, to my new apartment, Peter demanded payment before unloading.  He totaled up the fees and arrived at the figure $829.  Peter charged me $170 in ancillary fees, such as $35 for a used TV box (which he took with him at the end of the move).  He also charged $80 for 1 hour of travel, and it was a 20 min drive to my new apartment.  There was also a 19% tax, it is unclear what exactly this tax is for.  He threatened to drive off with my belongings, taking them hostage, as I was speaking with him about his business practices.  I was told I could pay by credit card, but when I noticed he was using wax paper to rub my name and credit card number off, I refused, and paid cash.  The movers also told me they would assemble my furniture, but they left everything unassembled and in various places in the apartment.  The hidden costs of this move total over $400, and Peter was very aggressive towards myself and my girlfriend after I confronted him about it.  .

  5. Absolutely Horrible and Wretched and the Worst.

Absolutely horrible!   Please beware!!   We read the reviews, but went with what we thought were the cheapest.     Quote was $240 for 3 movers, but actual price was $980 for 2 clumsy movers.  Each and every piece of furniture was damaged and several pieces of crystal were destroyed and lamps were broken.  So, the actual cost was well over $2000.  They are slow and clumsy.  If you need entertainment, watch the 3 stooges!  Don't let them near your things.    This turned out to be the most expensive and horrible move ever because it was a waste of time that cost money!!

  6. Great movers!

We hired City Movers DC to move our 2 bedroom apartment from Washington, DC to Virginia. This was by far the most organized, smooth and pleasant moving experience we've ever had. The crew was on time, professional, friendly, very efficient and careful.  They did the packing and delivered everything as if it was not touched. I think the lead man has very good leadership qualities and so was the crew. We had a little trouble getting a spot for him to park, but he was able to maneuver his way into a spot where he could load things. They worked none stop and had the truck loaded and ready to go in a little over two hours. The unloading was done efficiently as well. We would book them again, no questions.

  7. Scam.

DO NOT USE! This is a scam. I called them up and discussed the pricing, something that I confirmed several times via phone and email. I was told it would be a $70 one time transportation fee and $70 per hour for two movers.    Sounded like a great deal except they would not give me the paperwork in advance. It was only provided when the movers arrived, and when they were on the clock. Again, I was told the same prices. When we arrived at my new apartment and with all of my belongings on the truck, I was giving the payment sheet. This sheet listed an additional $150 for "packaging materials". I had a tv and a table that required bubble wrap and tape. That was all. When I brought it up that I was not told about this, they said it was too late.   I called the office the next day and he payed me lip service and never called me back. Apparently he thought a little bit of tape and bubble wrap was worth $150.. Please do not give this company your business. The thought of them going bankrupt keeps me warm at night.

  8. The Best Movers.

I have used many moving companies in the past years because of the job. I move very often. But after using City Movers DC, I decided that I will never go for any other moving company in the future. They were very professional and provided me with the best services. They arrived on time and worked hard from start to finish. They were also very competitive as far as the price was concerned. Will recommend to all my friend and co-workers!!

  9. Great Job.

I used this company move my 1-bed apartment in Washington DC.The movers did a great job.Thank you a lot Peter and Alex for working hard..Movers were very professional, courteous and careful worth my stuff. The final charges came in under my original estimate. I would highly recommend them to all my friend and family.

  10. Thieves and Scammers.

This Compnay is now operting under City Movers DC but they were Hercules Services LLC. The driver Petro Kovalnyov picked up a truck load of our merchandise and dissappeared. What we did recover from the next four trucks is damaged and poorly stored. Their insurance carrier says they wrote the policy so that it does not pay out for anything..certainly not damge or theft or loss- useless. They are scammers- many websites, phone numbers and addresses all leading back to same 3 guys- ripping people off. Basically, they steal, they are not insured and they do it on purpose. Stay away!
