  1. Do not use Cooper’s Moving Company of Michigan.

Absolutely do not trust this company. If you do you put all your items at risk of either damage or theft. They tried to steal a $435 bottle of Creed Aventus Cologne, the cost of the move was 50% more than what they quoted (just read their other reviews), they damaged both my TV and my couch, and they started the appointment an hour late.

I used 2 Men and a Truck the last time I moved, and I decided to go with Cooper’s this time based on a referral from a friend who recommended them because of their low costs. At first this seemed like a normal move. They began moving all my items and they also boxed up all the clothing from my bedroom. I began working on organizing other things and left them to pack everything up thinking I could trust them with my things. When the truck was loaded, I double checked everything in my bedroom. I prefer to trust that people are good, so I do not like double checking to see if people might have taken something, but I’m so glad I did. I found that one of my bottles of Creed cologne was missing.

When I pressed them on the issue, they said the bottle must have “fallen into one of the boxes” and that’s why I couldn’t find it. When I told them they wouldn’t receive payment until the cologne was found they threatened that they wouldn’t unpack the truck until I gave them my credit card. It wasn’t until I called their management and threatened to call the police that the two movers immediately pulled over and called to tell me how they magically “found my cologne” and that it had “fallen into one of the boxes when packing my clothes”. I have since unpacked all my boxes and there was not one other item that magically fell into the boxes. So why that one? Imagine if I found the cologne missing after the move was over. Do you think they would have investigated and returned it to me? Would you ever hire a company of thieves to come into your home and handle your items?

Later, when moving my couch they had to take one of the couch’s metal legs off so it would fit around a corner. After they emptied the truck, I noticed one of the movers hastily put the leg back onto the couch. When I went to sit on the couch the next day I found that the entire leg wobbled and was unconnected. Upon further inspection I found several scrapes and scratches all over the couch. I tried to fix the couch leg but they damaged both the screw and the frame into which the screw goes to attach the leg. I tried to file a claim and I sent pictures. They simply responded that it didn’t look damaged to them and that it was an easy fix, that all I needed to do was replace the screw and that they were not responsible for it. Well after they handled my couch the screw for the leg no longer attaches to the based of the couch and the entire base now needs to be repaired by a professional furniture repairman. I couldn’t explain that to them because they began ignoring and blocking my calls. Now they’re on their way to screw the next customer.

I’m writing this complaint from my home as I look at a couch that is flipped on its side because it is unusable. I have to wait for an appointment with a professional and I’m going to have to pay out of pocket for the damage they caused. It’s an expensive Natuzzi couch but Cooper’s Movers couldn’t care less because they got their money. I’m following up with the Better Business Bureau of Michigan and I’m prepared to take legal action. It’s no longer about the money to repair the couch. This company will no longer scam people and get away with it.

What professional mover do you know who doesn’t protect a TV screen or a nice couch with either plastic wrap or bubble wrap? How do you not attach a couch leg, run out before the job is done and think the owner of the couch won’t notice it later? Who do you know that comes into your home after they’ve earned your trust to do business with you and tries to steal your cologne behind your back? I’m writing this to protect you, the reader. Forget what their website says, don’t believe anything this company posts, don’t listen to anything they try to tell you. Everything I’ve just said is the absolute truth and said all this so that you the reader don’t get screwed too. If you use this company you are putting your money, valuables and faith in people in danger. Do not use Cooper’s Moving Company of Michigan.

  2. Horrible Nightmare of a company!

Coopers Moving is the most nightmarish experience I've ever had in my entire life! The movers were late, lethargic and rude.. I was quoted 3-4 hours [by Coopers and several other companies]and they took over 9hrs to move boxes from a 25x10' storage unit to my 950/sqft bungalow that was only 20 minute drive away!! After sorting thru my possessions, the next day, I discovered someone had urinated in my laundry hamper!! Totally disgusting!! Worse, I'm discovering boxes and items missing!! I was forced to pay more than double the quote for a move that wasn't even completed!! They left a large amount of items in the storage unit!! Absolute Nightmare!! I will Never do business with any Oak Park, MI based business as long as I live!
