  1. This moving company is a scam

    This company is a scam. On phone they tell me price around $1600. While collecting items they billed me for $2700.

    Now while shipping they come to my apartment with 18 wheel semi truck and said there is no space here to park the semi and it will obstruct the traffic. There was plenty of space. But then scam was revealed, they said they need to bring shuttle and I need to pay $250. Then they charged me $70 per 70 foot walking. They are the fraudsters. Don’t sign any documents with them. They are threatening me to put my stuff in storage. I have no option but pay them.

  2. Poor experience with Cross States Moving.

    I recently paid $5700 to move what was estimated as 1237 cu ft from Ohio to Florida. I was very disappointed:

    -I completed an inventory and received an estimate. I subsequently did very significant downsizing and asked the agent if I should get a new estimate. The agent said "no, thedriver would adjust the cost based on the actual load". However the driver said they never reduce the "binding" estimate - only increase it. When I called to clarify this my rep would no longer take my calls and I end up talking to someone with a heavy accent and bad attitude. No adjustment was made.

    -they damaged a TV and piano bench. I had not purchased the additional insurance but it would not have mattered. It would have cost more than a new TV and conversely the standard insurance of $.60/lb does not reflect the expense/weight ratio of most electronics.

  3. Good company for long distance moving.

    I needed a long distance moving company. A few people recommended this company to me. They were very professional from the very beginning. From the moment I requested the estimate they provided me with great customer service. They also provided me with a reasonable rate. When it came to pick up they were prompt and were very courteous. They took great care in packing my furniture and items. On receiving my items everything was in order. I received my things in great condition, and I also got them on time. Overall they were very good, and knew what they were doing.

  4. Ask questions a lot.

    Two movers arrived at our location within the time period they stated they would. Once there CROSS STATE wants to waste time by taping items that didn't need to be taped and wrapping the beds with shrink wrap. This is not told before as something that is mandatory for them to do . In tape alone they added $56.00 to my bill and shrink wrap was another $90.00. The two gentlemen used my tools to breakdown furniture. We had Dolly's and other moving equipment to move boxes in larger quantities at once, this did not happen. Boxes were moved one at a time maybe two sometimes. The movers do this so they can add on more time to your bill (each hour is 139.00). I am highly upset because these two "movers" did not work efficiently the first 4 hours that were included(per groupon). Instead they asked that I help them in order to help speed up the process after we began to approach the 4 hour mark. I did not want my bill to continue to increase unnecessarily so I helped. One of the workers would "wrap"(mandatory) furniture and myself and the other worker would take things to the freight elevator. I would return and the other worker would disappear for at lease 15mins at a time. The worker that was wrapping the furniture even stated that he wished he had someone like myself helping him all the time. Most of the confusion came with the total price. Buying a groupon for $259.00 that's has a $560.00 value means nothing. Don't do it . Your beginning balance before the truck reaches your home is $398.00 and yes that is after the company subtracts the $560 value from your total price. They charge 139.00 for 1 hour of travel time and gas but the clock doesn't stop when going from one place to the other (it should if you are paying 139.00 for 1 hour of travel time). Instead the one hour is used from their facility to your home and then from your final destination back to their facility. Your total time is still clocking even if they take the long way through town to transport your things. The movers had a funny sense of humor but they worked very slow( done purposely). After reaching my final destination and being charged 2 extra hours I was done with the slowness of the workers. I was also told my price went from $398.00 to $848.00 after materials , travel time and extra hours were added. At that point they were no longer worried about moving the items but taking care of the payment. While one mover sat in the hallway taking the payment the other moved my items from the front of the truck to the back(for myself to grab items and place in the hallway). I received no help from the movers after the payment was made and even took pictures of my things in the street while one was sitting after payment. This started as a great experience and quickly went wrong. There are a lot of hidden fees so ask a lot of questions if you decide to use this company. Be prepared and supply your own tape they charge $4.00 a roll and are not conservative . The group on is not a big help if any at all. I even talked to the supervisor about the charge and he was very rude. Informed me that if I did not want to make the payment then my items would be dropped off at their facility , I would be charged unloading and loading fees along with storage fees when ever I came to pick up everything.   5. Terrible job and dishonest owner. AVOID!!

    DO NOT USE THESE GUYS!!Showed up late, with two men instead of three. Both guys were already tired by the time they got to my job. They were nice and tried hard but it took much longer (because they were understaffed) than was estimated. On top of all of that, they did not wrap my sofa and damaged my walls, railing and stairs (broke the bottom lip of my wooden stair off completely) for over 250$ worth of damages!!The owner game me his word as a man that he would cover the repair. He did not. After repeated attempts to get JUST HALF of what it cost us to repair our home he refused to live up to his word. Owners that LIE and have NO INTEGRITY aren't worth your business. Trust me, avoid this company.

  6. Very unpleasant moving experience !

    I hired Cross State Moving for my move and was very dissatisfied. The first surprise was that I was told an evaluation of the space and amount of furniture would not be necessary - 3 hours with 2 men and a truck should be sufficient. All very well - but it proved to be wrong. First: two men showed up, one rather old man and one very heavy guy that. They both tired out quickly and made me feel so guilty that I ended up carrying just as much as they did.
    Second: the truck they brought was a 26 foot truck that was way to big for the ally and got stuck.
    The men did not handle my antique furniture carefully, they ruined my box spring with the only comment being: well, just fix it, and generally exuded the atmosphere of not caring at all about anything. Once we reached my new home, they decided they had enough. After putting everything out in the parking lot they said the needed to go. I pleaded with them asking them to stay, but without luck. They felt they were done and there was nothing I could do to convince them to stay on. There I was - left with my things no where near where they were supposed to be.
     
    When I called the company to complain the boss came back to me saying that his men said I asked them to leave - which is a flat out lie. I claimed the broken box spring but haven’t heard anything from Cross State Movers for weeks months. When I finally called them, they refused to pay me for the broken box spring. Their explanation was, that their insurance doesn’t cover Ikea furniture. GREAT!
     
    Stay away from Cross State Movers. It's a very unpleasant place to deal with!

  7. Happy with my move. Would recommend !

    The crew moved me promptly and were very professional. The crew arrived on time and called ahead to let us know they were on the way. They wrapped everything well so no damage occurred and used blankets and pads at no cost to me. I will def. use them in the future for my moves and would recommend them to friends and family.

  8. They charge you four times more!

    This company gives you the wrong estimation and at the end of the day they charge you four times more than what you expected.they charge travel time twice believe me! and they say it`s a company`s policy.They deceive you the way you can`t even think about it! Don`t ever go with them or you end up going to the court or having hours of fight with them over the phone!They are not professionals at all and the only thing they care about is money.

  9. Cross-State Moving.

    Do not use cross-state moving. The management is absolutely horrible, and the service even worse. All of our boxes were crushed and mangled. Every single piece of dishware that was moved was shattered. The moving is completely unprofessional and it is not even a bargain! Dealing with the management is an absolute nightmare, and I was flat-out told that they often lie about timing to customers. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere when moving. .

  10. Good job with a complicated move.

    Johnathan and his crew moved us yesterday, and I have to say they did a very good job. They were on time, and did not waste time loading my stuff. They wrapped my furniture and TV. Overall a good job and no funny business with costs or damage to any furniture. Would use again.

    I want to say thanks for the great job done by thecroos state  Movers Crew. When I was looking for moving company my friend told me about cross state  Movers Company because he had great experience with them, including affordable price and service. So happy I took his advice and used Planet!

    Grat moving company from the estamite to the and , we move 4 bedroom house from rockville md to manassas va They were amazing. They arrived when they said they would, I didn't even worry. At the new apartment when they were carrying our unwieldy, plastic wrapped, Queen sized mattress up the stairs,  I would like to recommend this company to all.
    Nationwide Trusted Movers moved us from San Diego to Chicago. Movers came on time. Started packing & wrapping right away. They treated even my crappiest furniture like it was priceless. Everything was wrapped in blankets and or plastic. I had to stop them wrapping some things that just didn’t warrant the extra awareness. And they checked in with each other when carrying things, making sure that they had enough hands on the heaviest stuff. Watching them work so carefully and responsibly, I didn’t even worry. At the new apartment when they were carrying our unwieldy, plastic wrapped, Queen sized mattress up the stairs, 1 of them laughingly called out, “I can’t hold it! It’s conforming to my hands!”.   13. Most Dishonest Company!!

    This company provided the WORST service I have ever experienced starting from day one. I was given an estimate for my move and although I had fever items than what I had listed on my inventory list, the cost was $1100 more. After that, the service got worse. I was told initially that things like tape and pads for my furniture were included. But of course, I was charged $90 more for this. I was given no notification of when my items would be delivered and everytime I called to talk to someone in charge, that person was "on the phone". Not only did I never get an answer as to when my items would be delivered, but no one called me back ever. And on 2 separate occasions, the salesperson hung up on me! Then one day I get a call saying that the movers were coming to deliver my items the following morning and if I was not there to accept them, he would leave them on the front lawn AND I would be charged a $1500 penalty. I checked with the Department of Transportation and what they were saying was not within regulation. Lastly, my items were delivered 1 MONTH after I moved and 40% of the items were damaged or missing. The items they did deliver was wet and muddy (especially the mattresses and sofa) and the boxes had ants crawling out of them. I already spent 1 month living out of a suitcase and had to deal with this company, but I would like to warn others to not do business with them to prevent them the stress. It is inappropriate that businesses should be allowed to operate like this.
