  1. Degayner Home Services: Irresponsible and Deceptive.

I hired Degayner Home Services (DHS) for furniture delivery from the Rooms-to-Go Super Center, west of Katy Mills Mall, on September 12th 2015. The furniture included three glass-top tables (one coffee table and two end tables). They delivered two of the three tables with detached legs. The delivery guys had picked up the tables in good condition (Rooms-to-Go has document with their signature to that effect), so the detachment occurred in transit. I had a long telephone conversation with Steve Degayner (the owner), who promised that he’d take care of the needed repairs, etc.; but insisted that I trust him and make full payment (which I did). Over the following week, he reiterated his promise via text messages a couple of times, and actually gave me a date (September 18th, as communicated via e-mail dated September 15th). He never responded to my messages thereafter.

The glass-tops were glued to metal discs which, in turn, were fastened to the legs by screws. My impression had been that the glue had gotten undone, so it was a matter of removing the glue from the metal discs and the glass surface and re-gluing these. I lately had someone inspect the condition of the tables. He concluded that the glass-top of the coffee table was damaged since part of the glass had come off with the glue. I believe Degayner’s delivery people knew this, and that perhaps is the reason Steve Degayner kept lying to me. Clearly, we need a new coffee table, in addition to the re-attachment of the detached leg of the end table; and fairness demands that Steve Degayner, or his insurance, pays for it.

Companies like Degayner Home Services take advantage of peoples’ trust, deceive them for a quick buck, and give the word “service” a bad name. I have asked Rooms to Go to take DHS off their list, since their irresponsible behavior reflects poorly on Rooms-to-Go as well; and would like to caution all potential customers of this company to stay clear of them.

As for DHS, I’d ask them to come clean on this dishonest act. If they plan to be in business for the long haul, they have to learn to honor their own word, and deal with people in good faith.
