Fast and Cheap, But You Get What You Pay For.
Things started out great, as I got a call and multiple text messages from "Jen", who knew they would blow me away. On the call I walked her around my house, describing everything in my house. She said she was going to overestimate my things, as they prefer to delight customers by having final costs be lower than expected. My in person with a different company came to the same weight, so I felt good going with Global at the lower price.
Things went downhill from there. After my deposit, I never heard from Jen again. I had to call her to get put in touch with a dispatcher the day before my move was supposed to happen. The dispatcher told me it was not likely, but hopefully one day later would work. This was huge, as I was set to be in my new town the following Monday, and a relative died unexpectedly, requiring me to show up earlier. I left my wife to deal with the movers. I had to leave the funeral service multiple times as my crying wife is being told by the movers that we are at least 25% under estimated, and that Global is notorious for underestimating and ghosting on people after they get the deposit. I called Jen, who picked up after 10+ rings and told me she would take care of it. She took care of nothing. She also quit responding to phone calls, emails, and text messages.
When it came time to deliver, I was first told my date was highly unlikely, so I was visiting family for the 4th. Then I got a call from a new person telling me he will be at my house the next morning at around 9am. So I get my family all packed up and back to my new house, only to be told "it might be closer to evening time". When I asked when will he be able to give me a tighter window, no response. When 4:30pm came around and I asked about a time estimate, he just responded "Evening Time". He finally showed up at 9:30pm with 3 guys he found on Craig's list to do the move. He wrote down a number on a sheet of paper and said they will not unload until this number is paid. Several things were broken from the move. The gentlemen spent long periods of time sitting in his truck while the craig's list guys and I unloaded the truck. We were told the team would unpack everything and put furniture together. They did no such thing, but by 1am I did not push it. The driver told me to take up broken items with Global. I sent pictures to Jen who was once again unresponsive.
I give them 2 stars because they were still cheaper with the underestimate than others were with similar item estimates, and because they hit my move window within 1 day. But everything else about this was completely terrible, including being $1300 off on the estimate that still required several items to be left behind.
One last thing- Jen mentioned that they were A rated in BBB, but beware that this rating refers to a different Global. This Global was unrated when I was complaining and did more digging, but they have since been rated a C after 4 (soon to be 5) complaints in the last 3 months.
