  9. Great Services

Sophia and Madison came on time and started working efficiently. They wrapped everything nicely and moved stuff in the truck with great care! Upon arrival at the new location they asked us about every box where it needed to be placed. I would recommend them for sure!

  10. Well done!!

We had to refund our fee 2 times due to legal issues buying our house. Refunds came both times as expected with minimal hassle. When we finally got to move we got two lovely workers who were very friendly and had a can do attitude. I hope I don’t move again soon, but if I do, I will only hire them for that purpose!

  11. **PLEASE, DO NOT BECOME VICTIM OF JACOB AND SONS.**

**PLEASE, DO NOT BECOME VICTIM OF JACOB AND SONS. BEWARE OF THIS FRAUDULENT/THIEVING/MORAL-LESS COMPANY.**

I recently became victim to Jacob and Sons’ scam. If you care about your belongings, time and faith in the decency of others, please, take my experience as evidence and use another moving company.

Jacob and Sons’ employees have no ethical boundaries, and I have no doubt they will soon be exposed.

Jacob and Sons confirmed they had a Jacob and Sons branch and a secure/gated warehouse in New Jersey where they assured me that my items would be stored in a secure wooden crate in their facility, separated and protected from any other person’s items until I was ready to reach my final destination this Spring. Jacob and Sons also specifically told me that they do not hire third party companies to move their clients. All necessary criteria when I was choosing a moving company.

On moving day, an aggressive man named Saul came to my apartment with my Jacob and Sons inventory list and demanded an additional $1,000. As soon as this occurred, I called, texted and emailed Jacob and Sons with no answer. I refused to pay the additional money but Saul agreed to move my belongings anyway. The entire move he treated my belongings like trash and broke several items. When I asked for my items to be treated with more care, Saul cursed at me and threatened to “throw my belongings on the side of the road and cancel the move all together.” I tried calling Jacob and Sons several more times, still with no response.

After the distressing moving experience, Saul handed me paperwork with “Moving Express and Storage, Inc.” letterhead. After questioning the letterhead, Saul said he was hired by Jacob and Sons. I called Jacob and Sons yet again, still with no answer. I had signed a contract with Jacob and Sons, NOT Moving Express and Storage, Inc.

I later googled “Moving Express and Storage, Inc” and encountered another traumatizing experience by reading the reviews at the link below.

    https://www.mymovingreviews.com/movers/moving-express-and-storage-1232

Moving Express and Storage has complaints of fraud, theft, bribery and extortion. I was lied to, manipulated, and scammed by Jacob and Sons.

The next day, I called Marty, the Jacob & Sons representative I have been working with and there was still no answer. It has been over two weeks and Marty still has not answered one single phone call, text or email. After dozens of unanswered attempts, I was able to get a hold of Connie from Jacob & Sons Customer Service. Connie confirmed she had no idea who Moving Express and Storage was. Connie then stated that since I signed the paperwork from Moving Express & Storage on moving day, I was no longer contracted with Jacob and Sons, completely gaslighting me. Connie said that she was unaware of where my belongings were but she would “look into it.”

Over the next few days, I had no idea where my belongings were.

After several days, Jacob and Sons admitted that my belongings were in Moving Express and Storage’s warehouse in New Jersey. Jacob and Sons LIED about having a facility in New Jersey and I wanted to retrieve my belongings immediately.

I drove to NJ to pick up my belongings. The Moving Express & Storage warehouse was FILTHY, and would likely not pass any form of quality control inspection (photos attached).

I have items that are missing/stolen. There was water damage to my couch; my dresser, bedframe, cabinet, heirloom dresser and bench were broken, holes in boxes (photos attached). Since I have not yet opened all of the boxes rescued from the warehouse, I am still not able to determine the extent of all of the damage.

Jacob & Sons is the ringleader of this entire scam. Jacob and Sons lied and did not fulfill one aspect of our agreement. Not only is Jacob and Sons refusing to accept any responsibility for what transpired, they are also refusing to refund the deposit I am owed. My calls have been ignored since I retrieved by belongings and now my emails are also being ignored.

To Jacob and Sons Victims: Please report them to Federal Trade Commission and Better Business Bureau immediately. I worked in the News for several years and am in contact with former colleagues in national news organizations that specialize in stories like this. We have a legal case and a moral obligation to expose this shameful “company.” With everything going on in the world, this is the last thing people should be worried about. This was a truly traumatic experience that I wish for no one else to experience.

  12. Subpar Experience

The people doing the actual work did a very good job. My problem was with Marty. We did a virtual estimate. He sends me an estimate based on that. I reached out to other moving companies to get estimates. One company did come out and do an in person estimate. I compared that to what Marty provided me as it was 200 CF larger than Marty's and the price was about $100 less. I did not haggle over the price, I just wanted assurance that the 200 CF would not be an issue and the price would remain the same. Marty said it would. I decided to use Jacob and Sons because they had better availability. When the crew arrived, within 5 minutes of scoping out the job, the head loader said "this is way larger than what is on the quote" to the tune of and extra $1400.00!! I called, emailed and texted Marty. I received no response from him. This is the same guy that was readily available BEFORE he had my business. Once he got the business, he was no where to be found. It's like he died. Thankfully, Connie and Melissa in dispatch were available. They were able to get the increase reduced by $200. I was thankful for that, but still mad about the situation with Marty. I was told by Marty that I could pay by CC at the time of delivery. That turned out to not be true. Cash or USPS Money Orders were the only methods of payment available. Turns out they will accept venmo with 24 hours notice, but that was never given to me as an option. Time of delivery, different crew, now get this DIFFERENT TRUCK as well. Why would you load, unload and reload my stuff on another truck? I still can't figure that out. Whatever. Get this, my stuff was in the nose of the truck!!! The crew had to unload their second delivery, unload mine and then reload their second delivery. Makes sense right? NO!!. The crew of 2 were great. They were engaging. I helped them unload the truck as it was getting dark. I assembled all of my stuff myself, beds, kitchen table etc. I didn't mind helping, I just felt bad for them. We had funny conversation throughout the unload process. They were good guys. I tipped them and they were in their way. The most positive thing about the trip is they delivered my stuff in 36 hours or so. That was awesome. I had a good experience with the workers, both pick up and delivery. I think Marty is a snake oil salesman and I would never trust another thing he said. My advice to anybody that is thinking of using Jacob and Sons and Marty is your sales rep, get another rep. He says he is the General Manager, and he may very well be, but he is the worst one that I have ever come across. Connie, Melissa, if you are reading this, you were great. I appreciate your help. To the loading and unloading crews, you did a great job.

  13. WORST experience ever!

We are devastated! First, Marty W in estimating assured me that he estimated our move to be at or very close to 1200CF. I was really hesitant to hire them and he put me at ease stating "I will be there to answer all your questions and on the day of the move, you can call me if there are any issues".. The estimate was based on him and his counterpart, Josh L having my wife and I walk through the entire house, count every box and bin and piece of furniture...we added about 12 more boxes and a few small items (NO FURNITURE) to the quote, and it came back at 1300CF. No problem...Then the movers came...they loaded the truck and it came to 2200 CF.. they were 900 CF off! The loading team even said to us "These sales guys do this all the time-they give small numbers to get the sale and then the customer is left with a much higher cost after we get here to load the truck"..we wrote down his comments on the"revised estimate" that they forced us to sign or we would get our items in Utah when the truck arrived. This is mafia like tactics. I called both Marty W and Josh L over 25 times...not a single answer and not a single returned phone call. NOT ONE!!!! multiple emails too--NOTHING! My wife and I felt screwed over completely and left in the wind. Finally, the escalation person, Connie, calls me. She basically tells us that its tough luck for us and sometimes the estimators are off. she offers $400 in credit on the extra $4200+ we had to pay at delivery. I was furious and they offered another $350...then they force me to sign a notorized document stating the case is closed or the movers will not drop off our items. This is unacceptable...Can you imagine being off on your estimation by almost double???? We are not professional movers, the guys from Jacobs & Sons are supposed to be! This is a total scam to get more money out of the customers at their most vulnerable time. NEXT- all of the FRAGILE boxes were marked in at least 3 visible places with giant RED warning stickers. When the truck arrived, I took pictures of the carnage. CRUSHED! countless boxed packed on top of the fragile boxes as if they didn't care about how they were packed at all. Totally unprofessional and careless. My advice to you- DO NOT HIRE JACOBS & SONS to move you across the street, let alone from Florida to Utah. Total nightmare, total bait & switch. If could rate in negative stars, i would. NEVER AGAIN!!! You ruined our families move to Utah. ( the only positive of the entire move was the actual truck packing crew. they worked hard and acted professionally)

  14. Thumbs up!!

The crew moved our furniture and items in a professional and careful manner. They worked very hard, made sure everything was wrapped carefully and unwrapped at the destination, and everything placed where it should be, nothing was too much for them. I will surely use these guys in the future!

  15. Good Job!!

Everything was great including their customer service, wrapping and loading as well as the delivery process. They made us stress free through their safely working procedure. I would recommend their awesome service to everyone who needs to move frequently.
