  1. Bad service

If you want to feel ignored …go ahead.

Lack of service . No one calls back . No one answers .

Only good to charge , they will do a poor estimate of what they think you will need . Then your stuck to decide if you need more , it will cost you more. Then you don’t know NOTHING of your stuff. Then after much waited it just arrives without notice . Hard to bring things down for the guys they hired on the spot with out lift gate.

They do not want or can provide an invoice for the service .

Better do it yourself or better get someone else . For reals , so many calls and emails and NO ONE can give you any information.

  2. Will not use them again

We moved from Ca to MI and the original quote was around 7K we ended up spending 14K! Yes we had a lot of stuff and filled a 26 foot truck to the brim but their estimating tools were way off.

Then they delivered on the last day of the 30 day grace period. So we have had minimal stuff for almost 40 days. If that was not bad enough a lot of our stuff was broken and the boxes looed like they have been just thrown around, ripped open and crushed. Many items they packed were broken as well. they broke the legs of a solid wood desk, How do you do that?? I had a lot of fishing poles where the tips were broken off, and much more than I care to think about...

On a positive note all the movers coming and going were very nice and took great care of our items. The fault with this company is defiantly in their warehouse storage and repacking of the truck.

Overall it has been a long stressful process and we will not use them ever again. It would have been cheaper to just sell everything and start over. It will be interesting to see how they do with claims filed for broken items.

  3. Run!!! Do not use this company!!

If you have a bunch of garbage that needs moving, this is your moving company! However, if you have anything that you value in ANYWAY stay away at all costs!

My story is a lengthy one and I will try to summarize as best I can. I feel like I did my due diligence and research before booking this company yet I still got completely screwed.

Upon booking, I spoke to a gentleman named Mark. He was professional, thorough and helped put my mind at ease. I told him my main concerns were not only my valuables reaching their destinations safe and sound but also to not be one of the horror stories that you read about where the moving company hold your items hostage and states that you know them more money. He assured me that if we had an accurate list of all of my items, this simply would not be a problem.

We spent several hours compiling my list. I had an exact count of how many boxes and what sizes as well as how many pieces of furniture with measurements and the heavier items had an approximate weight.

On the day the movers came to pick up, The manager did a walk-through with the list and said that everything looks accurate. However after 75% of my items were loaded onto the truck, we were one day away from needing to be out of our house, and it was already 9:30 at night, they decided to tell me that I have gone over my allotted space and would have to charge me several grand more!!! It took many hours more of arguing with several managers until they finally agreed to not charge me more due to the mis-measurement being the fault of their company, not my inventory list. They loaded the remainder of my items and around 1130 at night finally left. My items were going to go into their storage facility until we were ready to move into our new home.

The next morning we woke up and saw the aftermath of the move. They left enough trash in my house and in the yard to fill half of my outdoor trash cans. Not only that, I found water bottles filled with urine tossed into my planters even though I told all the movers they could use the house restrooms.

Next comes the delivery of my items. The moving truck shows up and starts unloading. As my items start rolling off the truck, I am in disbelief as just about every single piece is either scratched damaged or completely ruined.

The list of items that came off the truck damaged is too long to even mention however the most jaw-dropping piece was my safe. An item that should be indestructible. When the safe left my first house, it was wrapped and placed upright in the truck. When it showed up, it was laid on its side with no protection. They simply laid it directly on the floor of the moving truck and let it bounce around for 700 miles. The paint on the outside was completely ruined and due to it being laid on its side the inner mechanisms were no longer lock making a $4000 safe completely unusable. (Pictured) And to put the icing on the cake, the moving company did not prepare their movers with the appropriate tools to offload an almost 800 pound safe. An item that I actually had to pay extra for them to move safely. Instead they had to use MY floor dollies to try and get this giant item off their truck.

This is just a description of one of many many items of mine that came off that truck destroyed. Almost all of my boxes that were labeled fragile, or crushed beyond belief. Also, there are several items that never even made it. They’ve simply disappeared.

To give you an idea of the extent of the damage to everything, I had to put a claim in against my homeowners insurance for over $20,000 in damages.

So consider yourself warned. When you call to book them, they will make you feel extremely comfortable and put your mind at ease. Moving is never easy however Kangaroo Van Lines made it a complete nightmare for us.

  4. Dishonest & Disorganized.

BEWARE! This company has all the trappings of a rogue moving company. Just look at all the complaints filed on BBB. They reel you in with a low-ball estimate and deceptive pricing just to hike up the prices once they come to pick up your belongings. They'll quote you at $3.50/cu. ft. but then charge you $10/cu. ft. for any overages (which I guarantee there will be overages). They'll also tack on extra charges for things like glass/mirrors, long-carries, and any stairs with more than 7 steps despite telling you this is all included in your quote. Although they tell you they are fully covered, their actual insurance is limited $0.60/lb. They demand a deposit before the move and then require all remaining payments be paid in cash or cashier's check (probably so you cannot dispute the charges with your Credit Card company).

Aside from rescheduling my move date last minute, then not showing up until 4 hours after my re-scheduled window, I ended up paying almost double my original quote. Although my belongings were said to be delivered within 3-5 days (I was only moving one state over), I did not received my things until 3 weeks later (with damages).

Most attempts to follow-up on status went ignored or un-answered. The few times that I actually did get a hold of someone, they could never provide me with any specifics or dates of when my things were arriving. If you've been a victim of this company's predatory practices, file a complaint with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (https://nccdb.fmcsa.dot.gov/nccdb/home.aspx).

  5. Late & Overcharged.

Canceled the move on 24 hours notice. Rescheduled to a few days later, then the movers were 3 hours late. Packed the wrong stuff, and charged us $6k after the quote was $3.5k.

  6. Do Not Use.

Do not use this moving "company". Seriously, don't. We needed to move from IL to AZ. Our experience with Kangaroo Van Lines started out promising and our initial contact with Danny on May 31, 2020 was pleasant and reassuring. He addressed all of our initial concerns and questions and we felt comfortable committing to their services. We were supposed to receive a confirmation call the day before pickup, but it never came. After not receiving any communication the morning of pickup, June 25, 2020, I reached out to them and talked to Chris Brown. He said he needed to reach out to the IL office and then he'd call me back. This was at 11:24 am, and at 2:02 pm, I receive a text from Chris stating, "Unfortunately our driver got sick & has to go back to the warehouse. We can not pick up the order. I tried your phone but no answer. Please call dispatch to discuss your refund." I had no missed call, so I called him. He said, "these things happen," and when I told him a refund was not an option, he said he'd look into rescheduling for the next day. Not surprisingly, I never received a call back. I called them at 4:02 pm and asked for a manager. I was transferred to Maya who informed me our reservation was canceled in their system. I told her I never wanted to cancel and Chris was supposed to be looking into other routes. She said she'd look into the matter and call me back. Then my husband received an email with receipts for the refund. I called again and she said she could look into other routes, but the dispatch office was closed and she could not do anything for us until the next morning. She said she'd be in at 11 am and gave us her cell number, and thanked us for not "screaming like most people do,". The next morning, we had not heard from Maya and called her cell at 11:22 am but she did not answer. I then called the office and they said she was not in yet and they did not know when she would be in. I informed them that we needed to know something soon in case we had to make other arrangements, if we even could with such short notice. My husband finally left a voicemail on her cell to inform her we no longer need the services of Kangaroo Van Lines and how this was the worst experience we have had in our lives. We have never felt so devalued and victimized, let alone stranded.

  7. Great company.

We started our move very rocky. Before we began packing we were looking for a moving company that would do our move and we weren’t pleased with the numbers we were receiving. And then we received a call from Kangaroo Van Lines and what a treat that was. They gave us a breakdown of everything, costs, extra expenses (if necessary), and time frame. They were so patient with what we were looking for. We thought while on the phone they were going to give us a very harsh price like all the other companies but they gave us a price that beat all the other companies we called. So we booked our job. When it was time to move the movers came and helped us with everything. We packed already most of it but they were happy enough to help us pack the rest. It was honestly a great experience. The best part was we received everything just the way we left it with them. Overall, great experience and a great company.

  8. Great Service!

I chose kangaroo van lines to handle my move from AZ to FL. I was contacted by Chris and we set an appointment to do a video walk through. He took great care to make sure we added everything to my inventory list. the best thing about the service was that I paid the same price that I was quoted and they delivered my items within the timeframe we discussed. The movers were great on both ends. All around good job! I would definitely use them again!

  9. Great experience!

I had to move my mother into a living facility closer to my home and these guys came through for me. I had planned to fly down to my mom’s house to do the box packing ahead of time for her but, when my plans changed and I couldn’t make it down there..Mike was able to accommodate a last minute full pack for us and it saved the day. I only gave him 2 days notice about the packing materials and on pickup day, Joshua and the crew showed up and packed the entire apartment in about 5 hours. Super hard workers on their crew. If I ever move again, I will use you guys again. Thank you!!

  10. Great service.

This was the best moving experience that I have ever had. They took the time to give me an in home estimate and reassured the safety and transport of my belongings. Their head sales person, Chris, kept me informed with every step of my move. This small business really has the personalized experience that I was looking for.

  11. Run from this company!!

We have been giving so many different time frames of when our things will even ship from their facility to our new location. They have now had our things for over THIRTY DAYS!! And we are still waiting. We were told it was going to ship three days ago and when WE called to confirm it was on it’s way we were told it’s been delayed another 4-6 days!! This is so unacceptable!! Where are our things? Are they lost? Stollen? Has employee furnished their own home with them? When will someone finally give us ACTUAL answers?

  12. Dishonest company.

Beware! Do not use! These people are unethical liars! The sales people talk a big story and then the company does not follow through. After I paid a deposit and the move was confirmed (in writing), they cancelled the move 8 days out! They said they can cancel any time they feel like it. I put another quote request in their online system to check and received a notice - "Congratulations, your date is available" with a quote $1500 more than my original agreement. I have audio recordings of the rude person on the phone as well. Awful! Awful! Awful!

Just to clarify, so the owner does not say I am not a customer, the people I dealt with are named [NAME EDIT], [NAME EDIT], [NAME EDIT] (no last name) and [NAME EDIT] ("Who are you the police? I refuse to give my last name").

Karma will prevail. "What comes around goes around".
