  1. This company is a ripoff.

Do not under any circumstances use these guys They are a ripoff. They give you a so-called binding contract that only gives you 72 hours to cancel and even then, they charge you a 15% charge for doing absolutely nothing. The customer service reps are rude, unknowledgeable, and basically, bully you during your conversation. They are in essence, enablers to the ripoff. I was told a manager would call me back on two occasions which never transpired. And, if you change from a long-distance move, (2900 miles) to a short move, (5 miles), they insist on charging you the same fee which is...a ripoff. Again, DO NOT USE THESE GUYS. THEY ARE A RIPOFF.

  2. PURPOSELY LEAVES INVENTORY OFF TO APPEAR LESS COSTLY; CHARGES DAY OF.

    US DOT 3551489 MC: 1189550

Contacted Marathon Movers on 10/8/2021 for an estimate for a move on 11/20/2021. Spent over an hour on the phone with Eric Rosen (866) 207-0404 x 1701 detailing room by room my inventory. Reviewed estimate over the phone and he detailed every piece of inventory I provided. Received estimate, I verified the total matched the total Eric provided verbally and it did. On 11/11/2021 received call from Customer Service to review inventory and I explained that Eric and I had done a complete inventory and nothing had changed. Customer Service quickly reviewed the inventory list and I noticed that he did not include 100 moving boxes. Customer Service indicated she wasn't sure if they were included or not and she would have Eric call me. I immediately called Eric's direct line and left a voicemail. I did not receive a call back from Eric on Thursday or Friday (11/12/2021). I called again on Friday and was told Eric would call me by the end of the day; he did not. I called Customer Service on Saturday 11/13/2021 and was told Eric was off and she would leave another message. I called today (11/15/2021) and left a voicemail for Eric. I also called Customer Service and spoke with Mark who yelled incessantly and wouldn't let me speak. I asked him if all of their calls are recorded and Mark replied "yes". I stated that although it was against the law to record a call without notifying me as both Florida and Pennsylvania Two-Party Consent states and he was breaking the law on our current call because he did not inform me he was recording, I also indicated that it was fantastic news because it would be very clear that I provided a completely accurate inventory with Eric on my call 10/8/2021 as their own terms and conditions indicate that "This estimate is based on the information that was provided by the customer at the time of booking." Mark quickly rescinded his original answer that calls were recorded and now states "they're not recorded". I told Mark that I felt I was intentionally misled and I did not want them to continue as my moving company. Mark spoke over me the entire time telling me "you're not getting your deposit back" and that he would "pass you on to customer service". I replied that wasn't necessary. I would follow the Terms and Conditions instructions and email support@marathonmovinglogistics.com to confirm my cancellation. I have documentation of the dozens of calls I made to Marathon Movers over the last month attempting to rectify the situation and no one would return my call. When I called Customer Service today they answered the phone "Hi Lisa" so it is apparent they were aware that I was the caller and chose not to take my call previously. I was also informed today that per their Terms & Conditions I was past the seven business day window to cancel. I informed Eric that I wouldn't have been past that window if my calls were returned. He continued to yell at me and I informed him that our call was ending and hung up the phone.

HORRIBLE IN EVERY FACET OF THE WORD.

  3. SCAM!!! Beware!!!!

I'm sorry I had to even give them even one star! This company will take you for as much money as they can get away with. Luckily I only lost $400 to them but you could end up losing a lot more. They sound good when you start the transaction but trust me, it will go south on you in a hurry. Will be reporting them to the Dept of Transportation also. Customer service actually told me that they "don't necessarily go by what they tell you"! So, I guess they are saying that they tell their agents to lie???

  4. Absolute scam, AVOID!

This is the worst company I've ever deal with. They are moving brokers, and DO NOT own any moving crew or trucks. There will NOT be any moving trucks showing up on the agreed dates, and they'd make you sign this contract to shrug off all responsibility when things go wrong on their end. They'd also take your deposit and WILL NOT REFUND you when things go wrong. Pay a little more with someone else who is legit, avoid this company at all cost.

  5. Awesome company

This company is one of the best. Vanessa really helped me out with all of my questions. I first spoke with Cory who was extremely pleasant but when I had called back I was given to Jeremy. Jeremy was a pleasure to work with he was diligent and understanding about my urgency to move. I was quoted a reasonable price for the items I had and it was the smoothest move I have ever experienced. Highly recommend.

  6. Move from Iowa to New Hampshire

This company definitely scammed me out of $2,000. They will give you a low estimate, charge a sizable deposit, then a week or two before the move that number will double when they review the inventory. The bid went from $6500 to over $14000! When it went up, they wanted more money down, which I refused to do. Do not ever, under any circumstances, deal with them. They will rob you....and theyre very good at it!

  7. Do NOT use!!

They are unethical! They have scammed us out of our money, refusing to refund even with us sending documentation! They told us to escalate our request but have no escalation dept! They do not return calls. Marathon Logistics is a company you should run from, not walk.

  8. Glad the nightmare is over

Terrible. Very expensive. Took 30 days to get my furniture from NY to GA. No communication. When we finally got our things several items were broken. Would not recommend. I'm just glad the nightmare is over and the majority of our stuff was in good shape.

  9. This company is a scam

First of all you need to know these are brokers, not actual movers. The original estimate was $6200 and that was much lower than other estimates I received. But 3 days before move the price increased to $11000. I added 15 boxes and I asked how 15 boxes cost an additional $5000!? He could not explain. I paid a total of $3500 in deposit and come moving day they never showed up. They would not return our phone calls. Customer service could not say when someone would come. We waited a total of 5 days and still no truck and no word from them. We had to find our own truck and do it ourselves. Extremely frustrating and stressful for a big move from MN to FL. They act like people have unlimited funds and time to move!! In hindsight all the red flags were there and we should have known they were illegitimate. They said they accepted cash only on moving day. That alone should have tipped me off. But I was lured in by their original bogus low estimate and their scare tactics that trucks are scarce but that they can secure one for me. Don’t believe them! I know now they NEVER actually secured a moving truck for us and all along intended only to scam us out of a non refundable deposit.

  10. Be careful, this company is a real Scammer

Steve Cohen (representative of Marathon Moving Logistics) prepared this quote and contract (Price $3,250, quote attached) on June 1st 2021 (docs attached) by phone (954 399 6413) for the move of my household items from Bolingbrook (IL) to Jacksonville (FL) and taken a deposit of $1,279 from my credit card account (attached) and gave the possible move date -between June 9 th and June 11th 2021. After few days, I tried to call him several times several days and also sent an email about the exact date for the move, but never replied to me. He is a fake representative.

Nick Anderson (Managaer) approached me on 8th June by phone (954- 495-4278) about inventory revision as per the quote for the move. He asked me that do I have to add any times, then I told him that I may add a few more additional items such as grill, dining table, two tower speakers, and plastic storage shelves to the quote. Then, he told me that I have to pay $6,300 (see attached quote) for this move with these additional items. Then, I told him that I don’t want to add any additional items to this move, I will go with the original quote (Price $3,250) for the move. He could not stand by the original quote and he showed up ended up refusing to move me and cancelled this service immediately (on 8th June 2021) because I insisted on the inventory which I was originally quoted (Price $3,250). He had also refused to give my deposit back. Complete fraud! Save your time and do business with a reputable moving company and not a broker who will lie and say just about anything to get to you sign a contract.

  11. Extremely Disappointed

Terrible customer service. They are very slow or will not return calls or emails after the non-refundable deposit is paid. They were 4 days late to the estimated day of pick up. The driver/supervisor from the truck company that Marathon used -- Moving Express and Storage -- forced us to pay an extra $700 on moving day, despite us having provided Marathon with an an accurate item list and requested pictures of items (so the estimate should have absolutely been accurate). Wanted to cancel on the day of the move, but would lose $1,900 deposit. Extraordinarily stressful and frustrating. The additional worker who was there to help load made the comment, "Some people argue about the cost increase. Most people just pay it," which indicates that charging more on moving day is typical for them. As a client, you are absolutely trapped in their system.

The delivery took about 16 days, which is not terribly unusual. The boxes were moved, I believe, from truck to warehouse to truck, and there were some things broken in the carefully packed boxes, which was unfortunate. There are large gouges in the three-piece bookcase that were NOT there before moving. We paid for 2 wardrobe boxes ($16 each), and they did the work of loading those two boxes. However, upon delivery we found the clothes were NOT hung up. They provided 2 boxes that were not wardrobe boxes with a hanging bar. Instead, it was 2 regular boxes and they had piled the clothes in the bottom, along with hangers.

To make it all the worse -- all the boxes reeked of cigarette smoke (perhaps from the warehouse where the items were stored before being transported?). An overwhelming stale smoke smell. We had to get rid of the boxes as quickly as possible and buy a strong air purifier and smoke-eliminating spray.

The client was my fragile mom, an 82 year old woman on a fixed income, who is VERY allergic to cigarette smoke. The people in her new assisted living residence were appalled, as was I.

Very expensive and very disappointing experience, overall. Run from this company.

Note: I tried to attach photos of the gouges in the bookcase, but could not get it to work on this site.
