  1. Overcharged and then crickets when I ask for a refund.

Mover's academy seems like a great option for a reasonable price, however you get what you pay because the lack of communication is astronomical. The movers showed up over an hour late and never called me to give an ETA even though they said they would. When they got there, they worked hard and everything was fine. However, they then showed up about an hour late to my new location as well, yet only gave me a credit of less than half an hour. Fine, they were getting it done. What they don't tell you when you book with them and pay the deposit, is that they give an estimate of how long it will take to complete the job and you have to pay that full amount before they take anything off the truck, but they say you will get a refund if they finish early. They way overestimated time by 2 hours, or $300. It's been 2.5 weeks and I have yet to see my refund. I have called every day and only get the voicemail and never a call back. The manager Alonzo, said he remembers I should have gotten a refund and that he will check on it. That was 1.5 weeks ago and I have not heard from him since about the status of my account. I have left numerous voicemail messages and never got a call back. Every time I call, morning, afternoon, or evening the call always goes to voicemail that I don't think is even checked. The movers did a good job but the management is horrendous and does not act like a reliable business would. If they business model is to charge up front and then issues refunds, they should have a better system in place for refunds. It seems like the manager is the only one who can see anything about the refund and he keeps giving excuse after excuse for not looking into it after he says he will. If I do not hear from him soon I will take legal action. If I were you, I would stay away from this moving company!

  2. Worst Service I have ever had.

This company showed up 4 hrs 20 mins late. We had a scheduled slot for 10:30 confirmed on Friday December 20 with 100$ deposit. Our move was on Tuesday at 10:30am. Got a call at 930 saying they were behind that our slot was 1-3pm. Then another call at 12:45 to say they would arrive at 2 pm. They didn’t arrive until 2:45 pm. Start time was 2:50pm. It took them from 2:50pm until 430pm to load a one bedroom apt with 2 guys. Storage was a 15 min drive away from home. It took them 40 mins to arrive at the storage. Told me that now they had to take payment. Their tablet was dead. Had to wait on the guy for 30-45 mins to download the payment app on his personal phone to take my payment. So from 2:50pm-6:00pm I was charge 475$ including the 100$ deposit I made on that Friday. Plus I had to help unload the truck at storage. They didn’t help me put our stuff in the unit. Just dropped the stuff out front and left us there to put it up in storage ourselves. I talked to some guy named Lorenzo who basically said it was our fault for everything. We only wanted the service for 2 hrs max. Now we were past midnight getting to our destination, and left with no money for food or last minute Christmas. These people are crooks. I’ve also left several messages with someone named Stephanie with no return phone call.

  3. Would not recommend.

They showed up 2 hours after promised time and 1 man short. They didn’t inform us that we would have to disconnect appliances and electronics. They didn’t bring enough moving runners for the stairs and carpet. At the end of this event, my sons iPad is missing.

They didn’t call me to let me know that they were behind schedule. I had to call to find out if they were coming. At that time, they informed me that a member had a called out and they were running late and would be one man short. I understand that these things happen, and tried to be as helpful as possible while I was able to be present.

We had to leave my oldest son there to direct them since they were late, so that we could go to the first of 2 closings. When we left, the only people in the house were my son and the movers, at this time his iPad was present

I have called the company to discuss this missing item and my experience. That was 10 days ago now, and I am still waiting to hear back from them regarding our missing iPad and or any reconciliation. I have never left a negative review like this before, but I would hate for someone to have the same experience that we had. I’m hoping that this review will help someone in the future.

  4. Movers Academy is the way to go!

Movers Academy did an excellent job with my move. I moved locally from Sandy Springs to Jonesboro. All of my items were delivered safely to my new home. Terrence and his team worked quickly and efficiently. I was especially happy to receive their wonderful level of service, as I had previously scheduled my move with All My Sons Movers, who were a no-show. In contrast, Movers Academy confirmed the contract and verified their arrival the day before, and called me when they were on the way. They make moving much easier! I highly recommend them.
