  1. Warning do Not Use This Company.

We spoke to this company 2 or 3 times on the phone about our move and were charged almost $800. They call this a binding estimate and there is a law which covers this and we could not get our money back. The main reason for not using this company was because it has the worst reviews on the internet which my wife did not check before calling this company. 2 or 3 phone calls, nobody came to the house to check what we needed moved, $800.00, really. Also this company is nothing more then a broker, they do not do the work, true rip-offs, Beware!

  2. Decent but watch out for the random additional costs.

    The good
    - The actual movers! The people who packed up my stuff from origin were absolutely great. Did a fantastic job wrapping everything up carefully and were very nice. Same with the people who delivered and unloaded at the destination.
    - The moving consultant I worked with to set up a quote was very responsive and helpful until.. (see "The bad")
    - The customer service department was pretty responsive, nice and helpful but.. (see "The bad")

    The bad
    - Moving consultant was helpful until I signed contract and got a pickup date, and then disappeared into the ether.
    - Customer service was responsive but didn't really communicate with each other; I repeatedly got hounded for information I had already provided
    - They gave me an 8AM Friday pickup date and I moved my schedule around to accommodate. Except when I called them after no one showed up, they said "o, hmm weird your date is actually Saturday at 8AM. Someone must have given you the wrong date." So two whole days wasted.
    - They gave me a quote, went over the details with me or so I thought. All of a sudden, the mover shows up for pickup and all these random charges start piling up. Additional bubble wrap fee, tape fee, packaging fee etc.. HUH?? Then some other charges for drop off, pickup and things I can't remember. These were already on the BINDING quote! Of course I couldn't reach the consultant at this point, and I needed my things out that day so I had no choice. They did still come out slightly cheaper (or about the same) than some of the other companies I looked at, but please be upfront with me so I can plan accordingly. Moving is expensive and I'm not a money tree :(.
    - At delivery, I was also charged an elevator fee of $75. Again, would have been nice to mention when we were discussing the quote. I found it weird since I had stairs at pickup and wasn't charged a stair fee.. *shrug.
    - Minor, but most of my boxes were damaged so I won't be able to reuse them. O well. The actual contents were fine though except my trash can which got a small dent.

    Overall
Would I use them again? Maybe but I'll be sure to ask questions about the charges and get them signed in blood now that I know more.

  3. Terrible experience.

This was the worst company I have ever experienced. They were extremely unresponsive, missed my pickup days (both of them) then rescheduled and was 5+ hours late to the pick up. They over doubled the cost of my move once all the things were on the truck, and doubled things on my moving list to appear like I had more. They were extremely hard to get in touch with to make sure I received my things in my new location in a reasonable time. They told me a manager would call me back within 48 hours once I complained to them and no one ever called me. When I finally got my things there were many damaged pieces. Overall a TERRIBLE experience. They added so much extra stress to an already stressful time.

  4. Extremely Frustrating Moving Company.

On a positive note, the best people we worked with in this company were the people who did the "hard labor". It was three men, the one in charge was David. They did a great job preparing our furnishings properly to avoid damage. They were friendly and worked efficiently. Natalie, the person in charge of the first leg of our move, was also helpful, courteous, and organized. The rest of the employees I worked with for the remainder of the move, they were an absolute NIGHTMARE to work with. I am a relatively patient personal, having worked as a school psychologist for 20 years with individuals with cognitive and mental limitations, and the employees of National Movers pushed my patience to the limits with regard to their severe ineptitude regarding very basic communication skills! I have moved four times in the last 8 years and this is by far the absolute worst experience I have ever had with a moving company! They would ask me questions such as move date and moving address and it was as if any correspondence I sent to them went into a huge black void. Our job had a minor change (change of address), and they could not even manage that piece of information. First telling me they could not do local moves, then after I spent $700 dollars to arrange storage out of state (air fare and hotel costs), they suddenly tell me they can actually do in-state moves! I would never, ever recommend this EXTRAORDINARILY disorganized company to anyone. The majority of the time, non of the employees I spoke with had a "handle" about our job, despite the fact that I wrote several clear, succinct emails, in response to their emails. Specifically, I gave them, several different employees, the same information over and over (delivery address, delivery date) and they called me on two occasions to tell me they were ready to pick up on a date that was well outside of the date I had given them. They also had the "nerve" to ask me the delivery address on the day of delivery, when I had given it to at least three other people on four or five different occasions, both in writing and verbally over the phone. Pure incompetence. I owned my own company, and I know what good service is. It is a miracle this company is still in existence. Last issue was extreme price gouging for "packing materials". I am so glad I am done dealing with this company, it was a huge headache!

  5. Texas to Bay Area CA.

    Move Date: Dec 2016

I was quoted $1300, and ended up paying approximately $2100 by the end of the move. Not only did they tack on $700 in additional charges when the movers decided they needed to bubble wrap my items even more than they already were, they charged me an additional $150 when they finally delivered my items because they had to walk from the door to the elevator!

After I had paid them the required cost to pack and load my items, it took them almost 3 weeks to tell me when the would be able to load my items for shipment. Each day when I would call their customer service representatives had no idea, no updates on when my items would be shipped and essentially my possessions were held hostage for weeks and I was in limbo because nobody could give me any updates. I was told "the dispatcher isn't here," or "The dispatcher is on a phone call." They also have never once called me back after telling me they would call me back with an update or any kind of follow up.

The movers were NOT careful with my items and in fact would kick them into place as they loaded the elevator. As a result my dining table has scratches across the top of it. My lamps were also destroyed as the shades were crushed and the lamps themselves including the bulbs were broken. This all occurred despite paying extra for additional packaging.

I would never recommend using this company. I honestly don't think I have had a customer service issue THIS significant in my life. In the end I spent christmas siting on the floor of my apartment and sleeping on an air mattress despite planning and organizing in advance. Once they get your money, they stop caring about you as an individual because you're locked in and stuck. You really are at their mercy once they take your things.

  6. Crooks.

Horrible experience. I was quoted 1250. Then they came two in half hours late and added my balance to 1900. Then I waited 31 days to get my stuff. This company is bad. I want to report them but I am flat broke because the robbed me. I am scarred to see my stuff when it finally gets here. They like to screw the little guy. Never again. How can I use this company or shut them down? I want some of my money back.

  7. Terrible movers and crooks.

I moved in April 2016 across the country. That was a stressful enough decision, but to add these horrible movers on top of it, I broke down and cried when I received my belongings they skyrocketed the price by $5000 extra, and would only tale cash upon arrival. My dressers were saturated from motor oil from a motorcycle tipped upside down from another customers destroyed item. They dropped crates and boxes everywhere. Just when u thought the nightmare was over I received a call days later from someone saying they were in Arizona and if I just moved. Okay?? Well they had some of my boxes of personal things great! Whatelse was I missing? Liars, cheats and complete thieves. STAY AWAY.

  8. These people are CROOKS - DO NOT HIRE.

Going to make this short. These people are crooks. Don;t use them. They quoted my disabled Mother-in-law $1700. We called them today to see where they are (we agreed they would deliver the truck and her stuff today in Austin) and they are still in Dallas. They are holding her stuff hostage - until she pays an additional $4200. They will not explain why/ We are simply at their mercy because they have all of her belongings. Again, she is a disabled, retired teacher who is moving to Austin so my husband and I can help take care of her. The people have no integrity. I plead with all who are considering using National Movers - to run away.. far far away. They will treat you like dogs - and gauge you for every penny you have.

  9. Review.

Staff was excellent., timely and organized. Polite and good with communication throughout the entire move. Customer Service was good with set up and assisting with establishment of items that were being shipped. Entire staff was professional from initial move to delivery of my furniture at my final destination. I appreciate the services that I received from your company.

  10. Got Duped.

NATIONAL MOVERS of TEXAS AND THEIR (QUESTIONABLE COHORTS) FRONTIER VAN LINES
Reporting the following 2 companies to the Illinois and Texas Attorney General’s office and to the Better Business Bureau. It seems very suspect in how they deal with moves. Never sign a contract without reading every single detail. National Movers subcontracts out to another mover called Frontier and their operations are far from being honest and above board. We were charged so many hidden fees and extra charges that are never discussed- it was ridiculous. Our “move” went from $1200 quote to over $2400 in the end with no advance notice of these charges. Delivered furniture had gouges and chips along with missing screws to the furniture. Currently many, many negative reviews, how they stay in business is beyond my comprehension.
DO NOT USE EITHER OF THESE COMPANIES .. YOU WILL BE SORRY.

  11. Worst Movers.

    Do not use these movers.
I chose these movers as no movers were willing to pickup from Oklahoma. I wish I sold the furniture off rather then using them.

The agreed amount was not honored. They told me 2000 total including packing. When the movers came they charged 3300. No extra items nothing. Everything matched the list. instead they said the items match however we go by weight not cuft. On the phone they told me Cubic feet. Then they charged for tape. They said you paid for packaging but not tape.

I gave them a date that I will be moving. They called 2 days earlier and said we are on our way this morning and will pick up. I said nobody notified me and it not ready. They charged me 300 reschedule fee.

Once they picked up all the items they did not deliver on the agreed date and instead delivered 30 days later.

All my items came damaged and some items were missing.
I called them to notify and they did not care.
Till date my items are all damaged no compensation and they have my money. I request everyone to be careful and if you have been hit to file a complaint with your attorney general and to file a complain with your local authority.

  12. The most awful experience !!

At the date of pick up, they were like 1-2 hours late which is fine, finally they arrived, they knew how much items we have and they arrived with a truck already half filled with someone else's items! So it took them all day to pack half of our stuff, unload it to a storage facility (which they had to look for one because they didn't schedule properly), finally came back with still a half full truck to load our other half of items. After a month, we asked them to deliver and they did since we called way in advance. Another crew delivered our items and most all of our tables (4 night stands, 2 tv stands, dining table, coffee table) and sofa leg were all damaged!! So we called and complained (Several times!!) on May 6, 2015, and they said it will take 90 days to review blah blah blah, We just got an email this week, today's date is NOVEMBER 15, 2015, 6 Months after and to tell us we will just get $ 75.00 for it! What a JOKE! This is so unfair, how can a company like this still be in business? I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND NATIONAL MOVERS EVEN TO MY WORST ENEMY! I also lost a container of my christmas decorations.
I will also NOT recommend Budget Van Lines - once they book you, (because they are just "brokers" :-P ) you are on your own, they are not liable with anything that happens with your items. So since they work with this company their rating went down, as far as Im concerned.
Now I have to buy all these items with $ 75.00, Lets see how fast they mail our furniture shopping money.
    UNBELIEVABLE, UNFAIR, NOT RIGHT!

  13. Dealers not movers.

Not a real moving company! they source out the work to some unreliable moving trucks. In my case they scheduled the pick up date two times but they did not make it. eventually I got a text message saying that the truck has a technical issue with the acceleration. I cancelled the contract but they refused to reimburse the deposit.   Not a real moving company! they source out the work to some unreliable moving trucks. 14. Moving scam.

Got scammed by this moving company http://www.national-moving.com/. I was in touch with a person named Natalie from national movers since March. . She told me she would be the contact person and seemed trustworthy. Gave me a low ball quote and sent over a binding quote with a max not to exceed. Day of move two movers show up asking for price for double the quote for the same inventory list- charging me 2000$ more than on initial estimate. Would not stick to the binding quote. It seems National Movers subcontracted with another trucking company . which does not respect it’s own binding quote . Tried calling Natalie, she disappeared and was transferred to voice mails. I sent the truckers back. Then they blackmailed me that they have my credit card numbers and will charge me $500 in addition to the deposit I had already paid that will be forfeited. I was told initially that they have some DOT approved software and the quotes are accurate . This is scary : if the software overestimates you don't get the money back since the space is reserved on the truck . If underestimates you cannot turn back since they will charge deposit 500$ extra for turning them back Then I get a call back for the trucking company that they will send a better crew th e next day in morning - I explained I am leaving town in evening. They do not show up. They show up twelve and half hours later at 730 pm well after I already left the city. Hispanic guy shows up who was totally abusive telling my wife husband has already signed a contract. My wife was in tears. Two people show up and asked basically the double quote as the day before. My wife signs-up on the dotted line. Now the folks don't even know what they are doing . They pack liquid ant bait and used cockroach baits with the clothes . Even packs the door stopper !Simply wraps cellophane paper around the office furniture does not even check the drawers to pack what is inside. shoes packed with library books . As a result items fall off and are missing . I suspected this is a scam so last min I ask my wife to UPS me the financial documents since cannot trust this bag with the company. Now I get a call from company that delivery can take upto 21 business days when initially I was told 10 days for distance less than 1000 miles. Jennifer asks for extra 1500$ for 10 day delivery. I refused and called my credit card company to put up fraud alert. Called DOT and dallas Police. Dallas police say its a civil case and thus get a lawyer to investigate this first . Then one day I get a call from trucker that they want to charge me a re delivery fee when they haven't even attempted delivery. I tell them I have renters policy anyway so I am not paying anything and will report this as stolen.   Next I start getting threatening calls from company to pay up since had put a credit card fraud alert. . Finally they agree to deliver since they realized they wont get any more money out of me.   Delivery they don't even have any process. When I moved in past with mayflower or united we inventoried and labelled each box. This company does not have any process. They simply unloaded the boxes and have no process of tallying the bill of lading - some items are missing .   I decided to investigate this company :   website says national-moving.com based in multiple cities with main address in Dallas . I drove to Dallas since was curious : Its a warehouse . Some dude is running this company in a basement there is no exclusive office for national movers.   I called the AAA office to verify if this was really a AAA accredited company. But they could not find a company on their list either. Natalie has disappeared. Called aarp - company is not approved either   The DOT transportation number is shared with several other transport companies and does not belong exclusively to this company .   Even the final receipt is from orange van lines and not national - was told this is a 'sister company'   No exclusive physical office though website claims multiple cities   I do not know if I will get my missing stuff, ever. Never go with an internet quote. Always have an in-person estimate from a reputable moving company like United or North American Van Lines who have their own physical offices and trucks so at least you have due process. These internet companies subcontract with truckers and its not binding for them to accept their own quote and no rules of law as cross state lines and no physical office. Their pattern is all the same Sweet talking rep who misrepresents the quote and delivery times/estimates. It seems these internet companies basically low ball the price initially to get your credit card numbers and authorization., then bid for truckers going along that route, and then when they show up its too late , you are trapped . Then the company holds your stuff up for ransom money.   This is exactly what happened to me :https://www.fbi.gov/news/stories/2004/march/moving_031604   attachments : sample of box packed with shoes, drinking utensils and books all shabbily packed into one box.

  15. Cheaters.

Sweet talking to get sale. Once they have the sale they could care less who you are. Book a job and was told I would get a call from Dispatch 1 day before to confirm pickup. No one ever called. Instead I get an email from Julia at the end of the day saying pickup is tomorrow morning. Responded to email to cancel for tommorrow and to give me a call. I sent 4 emails and left 2 voicemails for Julia. No calls or reply. Driver called in the morning and I informed him that I already email and requested a call back as no one confirm with me for pickup. (I was told when I booked that someone will reach out to me from Dispatch to confirm when to pickup) the driver said I have gone through this many with my company and I hate that they do this everytime. They never inform the customer or the drivers. I followed up with another call to operations no response. Left message and emailed again. Finally I got in touch with operation to a person name Nichole. She an ego person that should be FIRED. She has no customer service skill and unwilling to listen or understand the situation. She put the phone down and tell me u will lose ur deposit and will be charge 500 for the truck coming out to your house. I got irritated that how dare you put the phone down and on top charge me for your mess. You fault for not responding to my emails. The supervior responded the same statement as Nichole. I don't even think she was the supervisor I think she pretended to be one. They told me you will lose your deposit and $500 because the truck came to my house. FALSE total LIE. Truck never came and No where it state $500 on their website and even the deposit saids it refundable within 72hr before the day of pickup. They refused to refund. I am positing my review to help other people. The parent company of National Movers is Orange Vann Lines.   Their website is National-moving.com  .
