  1. They use classic moving scams.

I used Royalty Moving through a moving broker, Coastal Moving Group (DO NOT USE BTW). Coastal Moving Group simply sells your contract to the lowest bidder, which, in my case, was Royalty Moving. They have an F from the Better Business Bureau.

I was originally quoted $1816 but I added more items so my new total came to about $2100. I asked and was told many times that my furniture would be broken down and resembled when at my new place. Blake, Chris and Jaime from Coastal Moving Group all confirmed.

When my pick up date came, Royalty Movers called and said they would be a day late. The movers, Dalton and John, came and were quite nice however its easier to rip someone off that way. Right away they started packing everything, I mentioned that my furniture should be broken down. As per Dalton, he is unable to do it because of liability issues and I should have done it myself beforehand. "The other company should have told you that" I was told. The only piece of furniture that was dissembled was my bed frame because "his company allows him to do that." This added to my square footage.

When asked about the estimate, he stated it would be easier for him to do it once everything is packed away. My mistake for being so trusting. Once everything was packed away, I was quoted $2667. When I told him about my estimate from Coastal Moving Group, he stated that an onsite foreman should have come to take the estimate in person instead of over the phone. By having him pack everything away first, I gave him the opportunity to make up any price he wanted. I found it strange that during his "calculations" he kept talking about how honest he was and that other companies scam people. He really emphasized that he doesn't scam people and he takes care of all of his customers and their belongings. What he did was a classic scam moving tactic, load your belongings and then jack up the price.

On top of everything, there was a 4% charge for using a credit card with them. Of course the excuse was "oh the other company should have told you that." When going over the inventory list, I told him to add my bicycle and 4 chairs to the list as it wasn't listed. I got a quick "okay!" before having the contract snatched away after signing. When asked for a copy of everything, Dalton stated he will send everything via email. Never happened. He was able to charge my credit card right away though!

Once my stuff was gone, I didn't hear a word from anyone until the day before the delivery. A person named Jazz called me and said that my stuff would arrive the next day at 8am as I was the first delivery of the day. The first thing I asked him was what is the name of the company he works for. He hesitated and said was just a carrier for which ever company I used. Basically he's just a guy with a truck. At this point my contract has been contracted out to an F rated business and contracted out again to some guys with a truck. The next day, instead of coming at 8am, the movers showed up at 6pm! It took him and his crew of 2 over 4 hours to unload everything. Apparently my things were in between 2 different deliveries. The movers had to move 2 different deliveries surrounding mine to a different part of the truck. I went inside the truck myself and it was total chaos. Boxes were smashed, everything was soaking wet (it was raining that day), and items were all over the place. I have no idea how a business can make deliveries this way. Most of the time was spent trying to find my items instead of bringing it to my home. ALL of my boxes were smashed in (luckily I packed well and didn't have much breakables) however smashed boxes is not a good sign that the movers have taken much care. After unloading my items, I was missing 2 boxes, the dividers for my cabinet, 4 chairs, a bicycle, and the nuts and bolts to my bed frame. We went through the inventory list again and of course, the 4 chairs and bicycle were not listed. My table is wobbly (even after tightening the bolts) to the point where I can't put anything on it and my tv stand is cracked. The carrier, Jazz, admitted that when leaving the warehouse, they could not find several of my boxes but left anyways. He also stated that he recalled seeing my bicycle in my pile at the warehouse however since it wasn't listed, he didn't take it.

From start to finish, I was taken for a ride and because my contract has been sub contracted numerous times, getting my valuables back and any kind of compensation looks bleak. I've been calling Royalty Moving however the numbers listed on their website goes straight to voicemail. I'm beginning to wonder if this company even exists! I've also been calling Coastal Moving Group, since they are the broker, for assistance and no one is picking up. I've learned over time that when you are on hold, the music will play for a minute and then stop, which means they hung up on you.

All of the negative reviews from this site (and other review sites) have been 100% spot on. By doing some research, all of the tactics from Royalty Moving and Coastal Moving Group are typical moving scams.

I cannot stress enough to do your research on a moving company and DO NOT USE ROYALTY MOVING or COASTAL MOVING GROUP. You are better off throwing all of your belongings away and buy them again then to use these moving companies!

  2. Broken and Missing Items - Terrible Communication.

I moved from Texas and hired Prime/Royalty moving. I had already packed a 12ft Uhaul trailer and was informed that I would be unable to tow it. I had already left the state so I trusted them to unload the uhaul and load their truck with my items. Upon delivery I immediately noticed that some of my bags had been repacked into boxes. I went to look for a Burberry watch because I knew it was packed in one of the bags that was emptied without my permission. The watch was not there. I alerted the driver immediately. Several boxes were damaged as well. I alerted the driver to a broken glass lamp, 1 broken plate, 5 broken martini glasses, 1 broken wine glass and 1 broken champagne glass. I proceeded to unpack the following day, 12/28/17. I went to setup my TV and hookup my Xbox one. I had packed the Xbox in its original packaging. The entire box was gone. Xbox one console, 9 games, and 1 controller. I filed a police report and Cesar spoke to the officer. Cesar has not tried to contact me. I have reached out via email and phone. His voicemail box is full and not accepting new messages. I have also reached out to Valerie.

  3. Do Not Use This Company.

I got a quote and movers arrived on time. BY the time everything was loaded, I was given a bill for over $1,000. more. I had added a few things but, they charged $300. to box my clock, which I had already packed! Worse yet, they arrived at my new house 2 days later than promised in Oregon. I had to pay the guy to get the couch in because was going to leave it on the porch because it was huge and he had trouble figuring the angle. I had to offer a incentive and tell them how to angle it in. Gets worse. They left and I noticed one huge box with babies' items and called them within 30 minutes. They never picked up the box. When I started unpacking many, precious items were broken. In addition, my antique hutch was broken at the top, my leather recliner no longer reclined and was stuck, A desk had a huge chip on the top, and several things including a large stone fountain were missing (to add insult to injury, I had to pay extra to have the thing shipped and never even received it). I filed a complaint and waited, emailed, and called. Bree who handled my work seems to have gone. I left several calls and have never received any compensation. I figured they had gone out of business. I probably suffered over $20000 in damages, and that is being modest and things Ioved were lost or damaged. I hired a professional company because this is exactly what I did not want to happen. Brandi's account is quite similar to what happened to me.

  4. DO NOT book your move with Royalty Moving.

DO NOT book your move or allow a company to book your move using Royalty Moving as your carrier. Royalty Moving is the most inconsiderate and disorganized company I’ve ever encountered. Here are some things you should know about this company:

    1) Royalty Moving will be extremely late to pick up your belongings. Our pickup was originally scheduled for Tuesday, August 8th at noon. They delayed the arrival of the moving truck in 3 hour blocks until the truck finally arrived on Wednesday, August 9th at 8:30pm. Don’t take any time estimates they provide seriously.
    2) Royalty Moving does not provide an accurate estimate of the costs of the moving service prior to loading their truck with your belongings. When their workers finally arrived (at 8:30pm), they packed all our things in their truck BEFORE telling us that our actual moving costs should be double the original estimate (SURPRISE!). Since our apartment’s lease ended the next morning, and our stuff was already in their truck after hours of packing, did we really have a reasonable response other than to pay the increased price??
    3) Royalty Moving did not tell us how to fill out their form to have our belongings shipped in any reasonable amount of time. On their sheet, there was a box labelled “first available delivery date”. When our belongings were picked up on August 9th, we put the first day we would be available in our new city to receive our belongings, like any reasonable person would (August 28th). We did not find out until 2 days after we filled out the form that our belongings would be held in the shipping state (in our case, California even though they started in Oregon….), then arrive at the destination WITHIN 5-21 business days AFTER THAT. Yup-you read that correctly. For my eighth month of pregnancy, we slept on an air mattress, with no dishes, microwave or coffee maker, and nothing to do in our new apartment in a new city where we didn’t know anyone, for 36 days. In the end, we found out that Royalty Moving Group was waiting to hire movers from A DIFFERENT COMPANY to pick them up. That’s right- they booked another company to move our stuff without asking our permission, and we had no idea who the people were or how to contact them until the stuff was loaded onto their truck….
    4) Royalty Moving will ignore your phone calls, and refuse to give you any truthful information about your move. The owner of the Royalty Moving answered my phone calls about once a week, and always said the same thing “I think a truck with some movers is coming soon, I’ll give you an update, call me tomorrow”, but never gave any updates or answered my follow up phone calls. One time he even had the gall to chide me about not phoning him more often (?!?) “When I’m working on getting some stuff moved, I call the person every day”. Had he provided us with a realistic timeline for our move, we would have been much less frustrated, and known which supplies to buy. Instead, we never had a comfortable night’s sleep or a nice home cooked meal during my entire 8th month of pregnancy.
    5) Royalty Moving will be extremely late to deliver your belongings. Royalty Moving actually did not BEGIN shipping our belongings until Sept. 26th (the federal deadline by which our belongings were required to ARRIVE). They finally delivered our belongings at on Wednesday, Oct. 4th (having delayed the delivery 4x the day beforehand).
    6) Royalty Moving will not take proper care of your belongings. They used their own tape & packing materials (for which we were charged) to prepare our TV stand & couch for shipping, and both were significantly damaged during the move. They also lost a large box filled with baby shower gifts. When we tried to phone the owner and the people who actually unloaded the truck to ask about next steps to be compensated for these damaged and lost materials, we were ignored.

  5. Moving Co.

I used Royalty Moving Co. They were n hour late for pick up n I was told by movers it would take 7-10 days to get my things. It's been 15 days n still don't have my things. When u speak to the office they have a different story each time. All I wanted were my things. N I still have no idea when they will arrive. N the movers don't work weekends is what I was told yesterday. So beware! DO NOT USE them bad company n not honest or reliable.
