  1. Move from AL to FL Update

I posted a review November of 2020 about the terrible experience we encountered with quote being double what quoted then our antique furniture dropped off the back of a truck without a ramp and only one person delivering.

Damaged almost every piece of furniture, mostly antiques and left almost everything unwrapped in garage when quote was to include unwrapping and placing furniture in place. We turned in an insurance claim June 2020 and was told it would take 30 days. Then told they didn't receive claim after 30 days so sent in another. They then told us they could get back with us in 30 days, then it was 60 days then they told us the had 4 months to process the claim.

After 6 months we contacted them about the claim and they told us they had no record of ever receiving any claim from us. It has now been a year and we have just given up since the electronic and paper copy had been sent to them and would be almost impossible to start over. I have a feeling that is exactly what they plan on is customers giving up.

  2. Move from AL to FL

We were disappointed when estimate ended up being double what quoted even though we gave them detailed inventory and dimensions on everything. Pick up went smoothly and professionally however delivery was a disaster. Obviously the delivery was contracted out and when it arrived there was one driver that didn't speak English and truck did not have a ramp. There were several other customers furniture on truck and ours was in front so it was difficult getting ours out. Driver was trying to unload heavy antique furniture off the truck and had to drop most off back of truck onto pavement since there was no ramp. A cedar chest in the family for 40 years was completely broken and there was some damage to almost every piece of furniture. Agreement was when delivered they would place furniture where it was supposed to go and unwrap, however driver left almost all in garage unwrapped so we couldn't see damage and said he had to leave for another delivery and just left. What he did unwrap tape was left laying everywhere on the floor and did not take their blankets. We filed a claim and first time were told they didn't get it. Second time they never contacted us and finally after several attempts we were told they would get back to us in 30 days; then after 30 days we were told 60 days; after 60 days they told us they had 120 days to process it. It has now been 7 months since delivery and 5 months since they said they received our claim and still no resolution.

  3. Worst moving experience ever!!

That was our forth moving in less then 4 years. It was a huge difference between the quote we got $2500 and what we end up paying $4750. They won’t tell you until they load 50% of your items in truck so they told I owe them $3900 and only half of my house was loaded. After hour of phone conversation with management and negotiation about price- they wanted 8k, then offered 5% off, than $6500 and finally $4750 for all that may fit in truck - I just gave up, I was 31 weeks pregnant that time and just wanted less stress.. ha ha.. movers had no rails in truck so they literally kicked items in, it was raining at pick up day - my mattresses were on the floor - goodness, who cares guys will get fixed price, nobody cared about using space efficiently. That was Thursday..

The delivery day was Sunday I had no idea the entire truck was unloaded at their storage and used for moving other unaware customers. So they had to load it again with my items and they won’t show up until 6pm. The most surprising thing was they demanded the rest of payment up front and it has to be money order or cash, no credit cards accepted. Until that time they refused to start unloading. Period. I had to drive around unfamiliar area Sunday night looking for atms bcos no way I could make money order that late. Poor moving guys were just chillin inside a truck. When they got paid and started unload many items were broken, mattresses of course dirty and having big holes, all boxes were up side down - my frying pan was smashed imagine what you should do to make it change a shape?! Not even single plate made it safe, pressure cooker bottom was separated, I mean literally every box we opened something was broken. They lost screws from 2 my beds they supposed to assemble - they mentioned about one but the second one they tried to fix with screws they had in truck and attention- moving tape, we were not aware about it and slept 2 nights again I was 31 weeks pregnant- thanks God nobody got injured. We still missing some items, but we found some that don’t belong to us lol. After we contacted their management about how to submit claims they recommended Moving Claims which apparently does nothing but stealing your time, after reading reviews online, I have a strong feeling we won’t get refund accordingly - it’s total rip of. I just can’t believe companies like that are still doing business and I just want to spread the word and maybe prevent someone from making a wrong choice. We previously used U-pack they doing great job, they are reliable and will charge you after exactly for what you used. My move from Griffin, GA to Campobello, SC which is 3,5 hour drive and 215 miles far with lots of stress, damaged, missing items with Smooth Movers was $4750. We moved my mother from Oklahoma to same place 14 hours drive, 9000 plus miles with U-pack and their movers was $4100. Well what else to say, moving is always uneasy but goodness don’t make it more stressful for yourself don’t let this jokers do that for you that’s wrong way to go.

  4. Move cost 3 times more than quoted.

The move was quoted for a 2 bedroom home from Atlanta to Dallas. The movers arrived 3 hours late and with no tools to take apart the furniture. It also took them 10 days to get me the inventory list, which was completely inaccurate and didn't specify anything! Left items behind and then charged me 3 times more than initially quoted. They also could no longer take checks or cards and want wires for funds and must have everything paid prior to delivery. It is a total scam and they are holding my items hostage while they demand sketchy payment for a crap job.
