  1. Worst move ever.

The first part of the process with Budget Van Lines was pretty straightforward and friendly with Matt and Junior. As others have said, they are a broker and I got stuck with Southwest Van Lines. Run away as fast as you can if Budget assigns them to you (which it sounds like is their go-to carrier). Among other issues, I sold more furniture and didn't move as much as the original estimate. Budget rep said no problem, the price would be adjusted when Southwest weighed everything. Well, they didn't weigh anything. When my belongings were finally arriving THREE WEEKS AFTER PICK-UP, the owner Eli yelled at me when I asked why the price was the same since I had far fewer belongings. He was going to hold my items hostage until Junior at Budget jumped in and said I could go with them to a weigh station an hour away to get things weighed, have them unloaded and then go back to the hour away weigh station to get the accurate weight. After having no furniture for three weeks, I weakened and just agreed to pay the original price as to avoid the total chaos of the long weigh station trips. On top of the late delivery, the lies about getting a lower price with a lower weight and the blackmail to get my items, the movers broke/damaged six items. To add insult to injury, they haven't/won't provide documentation to the claims company so that I can be reimbursed the pennies on the dollar that I'm owed. Bottom line: I would never consider using a moving broker unless I was sure the carrier they use was actually legit.

  2. Dishonest Pricing.

I called Budget Vanlines to receive a quote for an out of state move from CA to NV. The representative Matt and I went over each item that would be included in the move. Based on the items given I was given a quote of $3046. After receiving a few quotes from other movers I decided to go with Budget. At no time I was ever informed that they were a brokage. I was informed the night before the scheduled moving date that Southwest Vanlines would be my carrier. The following day the movers arrived with a SMALL rented moving truck. Before they loaded, the mover and I went over all the items that needed to be moved. He informed me that his truck wasn't big enough and needed to rent a second truck. At that second I thought to myself why doesn't he return the existing truck and rent a larger one. Anyhow he returned with another small that had items in it from another customer. Agin the second truck wasn't big enough leaving him to return the next day to pick up the remaining items. Once the last pickup was finalized that's when I hit with these inflated charges. The pricing had changed from $3046.00 to $7896.00. Big difference. Later that day I compared the contract I made with Budget and Southwest proposed charges. I found out that Southwest's driver charges were based on an estimation of cubic ft. whereas Budget's charges were based on .35 cents per pound. I called Budget and spoke with their rep. about this big discrepancy and was reassured that they would call me back once they have spoken with the owner. Unfortunately, they never returned my call. I ended up calling the owner Eli myself and he assured me charges will be weight based and I would receive the final bill once the second truck was weighed. Lo and behold, the charges were not that much different- $ 6892.00. After reviewing the revised estimate, I found that they charged me $1100 just for the second truck alone and another $2386 for the stuff in it to be delivered. This is not only dishonest it is unscrupulous as I did not order a second truck. They did. And why could they have not ordered a larger truck instead of two little trucks?

  3. Lost items.

On September 18,2016,Southwest Vanlines picked up 27 items from my Las Vegas address. They were to be shipped to Webster,NY by the 27th or sooner. The truck arrived on the 29th. It was a rainy day and the driver with the help of my daughter emptied the truck. In the beginning the driver with our help was checking off the numbers of our items.Eventually, he took the inventory sheet and checked every item. We then noticed that two tables and one box #76 were not delivered. He checked the truck and they were not there.
From then on it has been a disaster trying to communicate with the Anthem insurance people and trying to find SWVL. I spoke with Eli one time but have not received an answer to my calls since.
I am in Las Vegas for 2 weeks and would like to go to the warehouse to see if my items are there. No one will provide me with the site address in Las Vegas.
They are offering me $54.00 for my lost treasures that I have has for more than 30 years. I want them to tell me what attempts were made to find my items.I don't want their money,I want my items back.

  4. Not trustworthy.

We used budget vanlines to find a carrier. I payed the carrier up front and that was a big mistake. First of all BVL said it would take at most 10 days to deliver the items then the carrier SOUTH WEST vanlines "Eli" the owner himself, said it would take 7-10 at most. Granted it says in the contract it could take up to 21 "business days", but they both said it would never reach that. We kept getting excuse after excuse up to the 21 day timeline. first it was they are behind on deliveries, then they are short staffed, then they faced bad weather, then they stopped responding. Not only that, but they will always find something extra to charge you for and I assure you it is not a small amount. The carrier SOUTHWEST VANLINES will never never ever answer your calls or return your voice mail no matter how many you call them. But wait there is more, since when was taking an elevator more expensive then taking the stairs!! Watch out because they also count the steps it takes from where they park their truck to your front door and charge you for that. then they charge for stairs. They tell you the first flight of stairs (6-7 steps is for free) and every flight after that is $75!! Really?? When you sign a contract please, please read the fine print and every paper you sign and read the fine line print. Apparently they will also charge you for the flight of stairs upon delivery. These companies are unprofessional, even though BVL gets a small booking fee for themselves, the companies they find to do the job are very very poor quality and dishonest people. You might as well use a professional well known company such as uhaul. Trust me you will be paying the same amount in the end and maybe even less. But at least you would get your item on time and deal with professional people. Sorry BVL but SOUTHWEST VANLINES completely destroyed your image in my eyes. .
