  1. Military relocation

The company is very disorganized and unprofessional. I filed my claim 2 months ago and just now heard back from the company frustrated is an understatement. I’m just over this poor experience and want to move forward and warn others about the terrible customer service.

  2. Lost items.

Lost my cedar chest with ALL my memories in them. All my baby pics, my kids baby books (first haircuts and first lost tooth), my parents wedding album, my nursing cap, an original newspaper from JFKs assassination and other memorable items over the years. Along with the chest, they lost my dining room table top and 5 chairs (I did get the legs and 1 chair), an antique dressing table, a bedside table, a wingback queen ann chair and multiple boxes with nicknacks. I was told no reimbursement for the lost items in the cedar chest (only for the chest). I’ve explained that the items are irreplaceable and that I get really stressed every time I think about it. Told them I wanted full value protection ($21k) but they said that that only applied to catastrophic issues. Paid these guys a lot of money for months of storage and 2 moves.

  3. Suddath is terrible.

I moved from Jacksonville to Tampa with Suddath on 8/28. Unfortunately, my couch was not able to fit into my new home, so my original sales rep, Perry Saunders, quoted me $150 to return the couch back to Jacksonville with the driver and to deliver it to my sister's home. After I agreed, Perry reached out to me several days later and tried to charge me $100 additional, to which I had to argue with him about. It has now been 14 days and my sister still has not received my couch. I have followed up with Perry several times and even had to supply Perry with my driver's cell phone number. Perry seems very unorganized. I couldn't imagine not having my own co-worker's number and having to ask my own customer for it. Today, Perry told me that the delivery driver has become unresponsive and asked me to try and call him personally. I responded and asked Perry if I need to report my couch missing/stolen and told him he made me feel very uncomfortable by suggesting I reach out to the deliver driver (not my job). I am waiting to hear back from Perry as I am not understanding how a couch and an employee can go missing without notifying the customer and filing a claim on my behalf. I called Suddath's main line 8 times (tried reaching Customer Service for residential moves, the Operator and Claims, and the phone just rings and rings with no answer). I am not sure what next step to take and I hope someone will help me soon.

  4. Worst Move Experience in 8 Moves.

The movers packed all of our clothes in boxes so that they came out wrinkled and all needed to be cleaned and pressed. They damaged our fireplace and broke a piece of our fine china. They also lost at least 4 boxes of our belongings. This was by far the worst moving experience we have had in our 8 moves.

  5. Terrible!

This company is the absolutely worst!
They took 22 days to move our stuff from Virginia to Florida.
I'm 8 months pregnant and have been sleeping on the floor for 3 weeks.
They first set up the delivery date for 10 days after pick up then they delayed for 1 week and then delayed for 4 more days without offering any explanation. Completely unacceptable!

  6. I wish I had gone with someone else!

I wish I had gone with someone else! From start to finish Suddath left me disappointed. We had to add storage last minute. Unloading was fine but the process for repairing broken items (our kitchen table had a wooden leg busted) was ridiculous. Who can leave their kitchen table broken for >30 days while the moving company processes a claim!? I am most frustrated about their deceptive billing practices. We had a “binding estimate”. When we added the storage, it was not made clear that storage was “non-binding”. When I arranged for delivery of our items out of storage I specifically asked for and received via email the final billing amount which I paid without incident. Three months later I received a bill for an unexpected additional $359.25. Long story short, Suddath refused to own up to their mistake of giving the incorrect final amount at the time of delivery. Even when I showed them the earlier emails, they would not budge on the amount due. I would not recommend using Suddath, I expect you will get what I got… mediocre service, lots of red tape, fine print with loop holes, and a company that refuses to own up to their mistakes.

  7. Worst Mover I've Worked With.

I have had many military moves, from the US to Overseas and back, and locally. Suddath has by far been the worst carrier I've worked with. We had fewer breakages in going and coming back from overseas than we did in a 5 hour move to an adjoining state. Not only that, but they have yet to settle the claims I made and don't respond to emails. If you have a choice, never use this company.

  8. Horrible moving experience.

We hired Suddath/United Van Lines to move When the salesman originally came to our house he explained what Suddath/UVL offers for the moving process. That they take pride in protecting client’s property and explained all the awards Suddath/UVL has received. We discussed how the company was made up of employees not contractors, that a moving tractor with “air ride” trailer would be used to transport our belongs, that the truck would come to our house with the same driver that will deliver our household items from Minnesota to Florida so we could meet him and discuss the move. We were told the driver would be in contact with us along the way to give location updates and his expected arrival time. We were also assigned a move coordinator to work with us on the move. He also explained that our credit card would be pended the day of loading and the final payment be charged on the day of delivery. On the contract we were given guaranteed delivery date window.
our household goods from Minneapolis to Orlando
    Below is what actually occurred.
    • On June 13th a small truck from the local terminal arrived with a local crew to load. This was not the long haul driver nor the moving truck. At this time they told us our items would be unloaded at the terminal and reloaded into a moving truck.
    • Our delivery window dates were from June 19-24. Beginning June 19 we were to be given daily status updates. On June 19th we received no call or status update.
    • On June 20th we finally called UVL, after we had not heard from anyone. Our primary move coordinator told us she would be on vacation the previous week and a fill in would be calling us. When the fill in coordinator returned our call, she told us our belongings were yet to be loaded.
    • On June 21st and June 22nd the status calls told us our items were still not loaded and no driver assigned. Our items were still sitting in Minneapolis.
    • On June 23rd the status call told us our items were still not loaded and that they would be loaded on Monday June 26th and leave for Florida. Missing our guaranteed delivery window. No driver assigned yet.
    • On June 26th the status call was that it got loaded, but had not left MN as we were told on Friday, June 23rd. No driver assigned yet, still sitting in Minneapolis.
    • On June 27th the status call was that the truck was going to St Paul, MN to pick up another load. Still not leaving from Minnesota. No driver assigned yet.
    • On June 28th we were told they had leased a driver (contractor) and leased a trailer. This was not our long haul driver, nor a moving trailer but a freight trailer. We would possibly be able to be unloaded at our Monday July 3rd .
    • June 29th and June 30th we were told the other load in front of ours had to go to Sarasota first, and then come back to Orlando. Our coordinator spoke to her GM and he diverted it to Orlando to take control of the load. We would not have our delivery now on Monday July 3rd but should arrive on Wednesday July 5th.
    • On July 3rd we were told the truck broke down and now our delivery would be Thursday July 6th.
    • July 5th we were told the delivery crew would contact us Thursday morning with an arrival time.
    • On July 6th our household belonging finally arrived in a freight trailer, not a moving van trailer as we contracted with Suddath/UVL.
    • On July 8th we picked up the motorcycle in Orlando.
    • We were told the final charges would be billed/paid upon the delivery date which was July 8th, instead our Visa card was billed and paid to Suddath/UVL on July 2nd.
    • The delivery staff was a local sub-contracted driver and crew, not employees of Suddath/UVL as we were originally told by our salesman.

Many items were damaged and scratched as well as a piece of audio equipment that was crushed. We can only assume this was due to the number of times it was loaded and unloaded into a freight trailer vs a moving trailer. We ended up filing a damage claim with UVL totally almost $5000.

  9. Experience with Suddath.

Experience with Suddath- Our experience has been painful with Suddath. Drivers and labor never wrap up the furniture during the move, cause it to slide in the trucks and damage. Breaks and damages the costly and expensive furniture. Suddath damaged almost $7,000 worth of furniture and reimburses 1% of the cost. Do not trust them with the move.

  10. Horrible Claims Service.

Suddath has been known to, and continues to, take advantage of the military moves. We submitted a claim for multiple items that were broken. They then came back and offered an amount based on a one day Amazon Flash Sale price with depreciation. Their offer should be based on the actual price of an item and then calculate any necessary depreciation. They will not make an offer on any electronics (i.e. printers) unless they have a repair estimate, which costs more than the actual printer. I am extremely disappointed with their service and how they have repeatedly taken advantage of the military.

  11. Scam, unprofessional, incompetent, false promises!

Normally, I don’t write reviews because of a lack of time BUT this time I wished I’d have known all the trouble that I had to expect with selecting Suddath as the moving company because then I’d have select definitely a different company and saved a lot of trouble and money. I’m also not a person who just made one little bad experience and then try to get revenge with writing a review saying total scam etc. stay away bla bla…but in this case it is really like this and I’ve to say this! But let’s start from the beginning…

    >>No response, false promises just to get my signature or incompetent and totally unorganized…>Batteries>Weight / charges>Inventory list>No or false apologies>Partner at Destination Friedrich Friedrich Spedition.

  12. PCS move.

Worst PCS I have ever had. They ensured they would take care of us. They busted RDD 3 times with NO notification. Lost my stuff twice and refused to tell me kept saying they didn't know where it was. After 8 weeks of contact daily, my stuff arrived in Kansas, had to wait another 3 weeks for my stuff to be delivered. Staff is completely rude and refuses to be of any help including the manager. I had to threaten to hire a lawyer for them to find my things and return my phone calls. My father is a truck driver and said he could noy believe how crappy of services I was receiving from this company. The Military and Quality Control were contacted and are aware of this situation so it doesn't happen to other military families. Have also tried to contact them since the move about my broken and missing thjngs and they refuse to return my calls yet again.

  13. Suddath Moving.

I like many others have moved several times with major moving companies, including several moves with United Van Lines. The sales rep assured me that my move experience with Suddath would professional and of the highest quality, unlike the others. Well that never happened. When the loading day arrived it was a completely different company and there was no Suddath employees on site. I was assured Suddath would be making the move. Very little contact with the move coordinator at Suddath, I usually had to call her to find out what was going on. When you set expectations with a customer you should try to meet those expectations or at tell the truth about what is actually going to transpire. United is only interested in your money and not the quality of the move experience or your personal belongings. United owns Mayflower and Allied. Do not use any of these companies. I have used United for three major moves within the United States and will never use this company again.

  14. Ransom for my belongings.

Paid $11,000 to Suddath in advance for the move. The ship arrived to the Mexican port of Veracruz but was rerouted to another port Tuxpan. After six weeks, the container was still sitting there and Suddath did nothing. After seven weeks of e mails and phone calls we did tell them we will hire a lawyer. Then, they send us a bill for "storage" of an extra $5,000 if we wanted our belongings delivered. We negotiated since our lifetime house was held for "ransom" and had to pay them and extra $1,200 if we wanted to see out house items again. Worse move ever and I had 14 so far. Plus, some items were damaged. We took photos and informed them. They never responded.

  15. Extremely poor logistic service.

This review is directed to Suddath Jacksonville Florida mover. We hired them to move our household goods on January 26, 2016. Few months prior to that, an estimator was dispatched to our residence to give us a rough estimate on how much it cost us to ship our belongings from Green Cove Springs Fl to Orlando Fl. Before I called this company to do an estimate, I also considered two other companies but ended up with Suddath Jacksonville Fl since they're affiliated with United Van lines that we previously used to move our household goods from Apple Valley CA to Green Cove Springs Fl. Now, the United Van Lines company we used in California did a stellar job moving our goods to Florida, so we thought that Suddath Jacksonville Florida mover was at par with the California counterpart, but boy was I wrong. The workers who moved our belongings from Green Cove Springs Florida to Orlando Florida did a lot of damage to our furnitures, from scratches to dents and anything imaginable. My husband and I were extremely horrified by this experience. We thought it would be a no sweat move since it was only a short distance relocation. Imagine that move from California to Florida with movers who managed to ship our goods in perfect condition, you would also think this Suddath Jacksonville Florida mover would deliver the same way, but they failed miserably. By the way, there were three workers ( one driver, two packers), then they added one more worker on the day of the delivery. These people swore and most of the time they bicker at each other. I cringed each time I hear them swear. We're very private people and don't want a lot of drama about this, so we just decided to move on with our lives and just charge it to experience. Just giving a heads up to those who are planning to relocate, you should consider and give it a thought when hiring a responsible mover since relocating is stressful enough let alone dealing with an irresponsible mover.
