  1. If I could give Negative 1000 I would

Todd from TLC Movers booked our move on May 26th of 2021 and took our deposit of almost $2000 on May 27th for our Cross Canada Move for pick up in Ontario on either the 14th or latest 15th of July.

TLC Movers is ONLY a brokerage. They broker trucking companies who also broker other drivers with trucks.

The move never happened. We found out ONE DAY prior to our move date. As per Todd at TLC, the driver would be in touch a couple of days prior to give us at ETA. We were told it would be ALL Ways Moving and Storage out of NS who would be handling our move. Todd from TLC even put us in touch with the owner JOhn who asked us to be ready on July 13th instead to which we confirmed. On July 12th we had yet to hear from any driver and I contacted Todd at TLC.

The driver Kevin from a trucking company in Hamilton ON (not ALL Ways Moving as told) phoned me saying he hadn't even received the order until the week prior (week of July 5th).

He could not accommodate us and expressed how badly he felt for us and that both TLC and ALL Ways Moving and Storage out of Nova Scotia were extremely unprofessional.

And of course we were upset, and demanding a solution! Todd from TLC wrote to me in an email - that I should be careful with my tonality and not be so demanding and upset as all my worldly possessions would be in the hands of others.

So a family of three with 12,000 - 14,000 lbs of our worldly possessions that need to be out of our sold Ontario home by July 15th and we receive confirmation on July 13th that we will not be accomodated. No accountability, no solution offered and absolutely no apology. All we got was grief, anxiety and stress as we scrambled to find a less than ideal solution in less then 2 days which resulted in us having to leave many household items behind as we moved from Ontario to Nova Scotia.

Please do your research. I would not use TLC Movers. Do not use All Ways Moving and Storage. (Review for them coming soon).

    Good luck.

  2. Move from Newfoundland to Ontario

The person I spoke with in Newfoundland was great, but did not tell me they were just a broker for another moving company. The movers got my stuff to Ontario pretty quickly, less than 2 weeks. I packed everything myself but they decided to take things apart which caused things like lamps & other things to get broken, caused me to spend so much time digging out peices of things to try & put them back together. I also had my deep freeze which was only a month old taped together so the cover would stay down & they broke the tape, put heavy items and dented up the inside. I felt they had no business taking things apart from the way I had them and caused damage to my belongings. I doubt I would ever recommend this moving company to anyone. I still don't know the name of the company that actually did the move. Also, it cost more than $1000 more than I was quoted, & I actually moved less stuff than I originally told them.

  3. Move from Niagara Falls to BC.

I had a complicated move where I was moving from Niagara Falls to BC. I could not physically be in Niagara Falls and my ex packed my things for me. TLC arranged for my move and it was the smoothest move I've ever had despite I wasn't there and they had to move in the dead of winter. I'd definitely use them as a mover broker again!

  4. Do not book with TLC Movers of Nova Scotia.

I received an online quote from TLC movers for a move this August. I had extensive email conversations with an employee there, and also spoke to him on the phone. During all the conversations, he always worded it as though TLC was the moving company. The website he provided refers multiple times to the full moving services they provide. He referred many times to "our" movers, "our" dispatchers, etc. He also sent me "TLC Movers Reviews" from satisfied customers talking about how excellent their services were.

However, after booking, I discovered they had subcontracted out to AMS movers, a company that was never once mentioned before this. If they had been mentioned, I would have NEVER booked with TLC, as AMS has awful reviews online, and in fact is banned from the apartment building I was moving into due to multiple bad experiences by tenants and the building manager.

I then went on to have an awful move with AMS.The issues I experienced included:
    1) Our move was scheduled for Sunday August 6. We got a call from the AMS driver the afternoon of Friday August 4. First, he wanted to know how much stuff we had, as he said his truck was smaller than expected and he may not be able to fit it. Secondly, he said he was coming Saturday morning (the 5th) instead. When we told him that wouldn't work, not only because we were not going to be prepared, but because we had arranged many days in advance to block off parking on the busy one way street we work on, he told us it was Saturday or nothing. He yelled at me and threatened to not come at all when I indicated that this was very problematic for us. He also told both my husband and myself that our business was basically worth nothing to him and the company, because our move was so small and cheap, suggesting that we lucky he was even bothering to do our move. We had to agree to move on the Saturday morning, because we were left no other option to get out of our home before the next tenants took possession. I reached out to TLC about this, and never received a response. We unexpectedly had to pay for a night at a hotel because of this as well, which was more expensive due to the last minute nature of the change.

    2) Another issue, along side with very poor communication and many ignored emails, is how our belongings were treated. Our desk was smashed- one leg was entirely broken off. Our couch was wet- thank goodness it hasn't gotten moldy so far. Our boxes were beat up and squished, as though they had been dropped off a building- people watching the move commented on how badly things looked.

    3) An additional issue was documentation. The pick-up driver completely messed up on his documentation. The numbered stickers did not match the belongings at all- an office chair was marked as a sofa, for instance. He marked that all our furniture was damaged, even when it wasn't. Also, several items had no stickers on them. We didn't have several items delivered, but we still don't know what they are, because everything was so mislabeled, as was as potentially unlabeled.

What we are especially upset about is that TLC misrepresented themselves. When we attempted to address our issues with TLC, they indicated that they can do nothing about our complaints, as they are just the "booking agents." However, this was the first time they ever used that term in our several months of communication. In all our emails and on their website, they describe themselves as a moving company. They never mentioned subcontracting out or AMS until after I paid the deposit.
