  1. Great Service!

Bottom line up front: Service was excellent. The most impressive thing was Mr. Church's continuous communication with me. He promptly answers emails and returns phone calls. He calls when the movers arrive and multiple times during the move to make sure things are going according to plan. The movers are 100% professional. They move quickly and carefully. The were careful with furniture and they were careful with our new home. There were no wall scratches, no injured/broken furniture and we own A LOT of glass - four glass tables, glass entertainment center, glass TV stands, glass glass everywhere and everything is still in one piece. They provided courtesy wardrobe boxes which came in handy for pillows and such. They moved a fully furnished two bedroom apartment (to include a living room, dining room, and deep freezer) from Silver Spring to Hagerstown in about ten hours. The two time delays (neither of which were their fault) was 1) our apartment complex required all move outs to use the downstairs back door which limited movers to use of one elevator - a lot of time spent waiting on the elevator to arrive and 2) horrendous traffic on 495 on a Friday afternoon. We used the large package - two trucks with 3 movers. I would definitely use them again!

  2. Competent staff should be a requirement.

I used Your Friends With a Truck based in Gaithersburg, MD back in August of 2017. I was VERY satisfied with David Church and the services he provided. I talked to the person in charge on-site about the move and my concerns and wants. He was very understanding and accommodating and our conversation continued on and off during the move. In addition, everything was being moved from and to first floor apartments with no stairs AND the move was only across town so that was good news for them. I moved again on April 20 of this year and decided to use them again. It was a no-brainer for me.

This time I was EXTREMELY dissatisfied but I realize now that I should have asked certain questions and done certain things before the movers even showed up. And again, everything was being moved from and to first floor apartments with no stairs and the move was only across town. I felt good about this move but I took some things for granted because the last move went so well. I want to pass on some wisdom in the hopes that it will help you with your moving decisions. 1) Always contact a mover more than one month in advance. Even if they say there is no problem fitting you in, you might not get competent staff to handle your belongings.

    2) Always ask a manager to be sure that the person in charge of the move on-site is able to speak AND read English at least as well as a child. Otherwise, this could prove to be VERY frustrating if you have any questions or want to make any requests. You might be shocked how much that affects your move when you and the movers cannot properly communicate with each other.

    3) Always be sure the movers on-site have plenty of standard packing equipment with them like wardrobe boxes. This could bring your move to a screeching halt that could cost you extra time and money while you try to figure out a workaround.

    4) When the movers arrive to start packing your belongings into the truck, go over the details of the move and be sure they understand what was confirmed by you and their manager (even if the details were written in an email). Otherwise, if there is more than one stop (even if the work order shows it) you might not be on the same page (even if they say they know the details) and they might be tempted to blame the manager for not telling them. Confusion like this could easily add time and money to your move.

    5) Do not put "just-in-case" money (example: $150) in a container with any sentimental value to you and put it in a moving box that has not been sealed shut. You might find out two weeks later after you have gone through all of your stuff that the money is missing and the container is no longer one of your belongings.

    6) Do not expect the manager to be empathetic or even civil about any problems that come up during or after the move.

    7) Always state or ask the obvious because it is always news to someone.

  3. Economical.

Moved from Maryland to Minnesota. Very reasonable flat rate, however, not professional movers. Owner hires day laborers. Expect them not to use the care a professional would, but, for the price, you can't beat it with a car tow. Prompt arrival and delivery.
Using a well known company would have been costly, but, at a minimal cost, got an average mover with some damage and did not take the care with scratches and lost pieces.
