  1. Move from Ohio to Kentucky.

Absolutely the worst.Pick up time was off by 4 hrs.moved us at 5 o’clock and finished the next morning.damaged a lot of furniture and totally distroyed a gun safe it was dropped several times. They did not reassemble the bed stated that they lost parts. Also they refused to use the plastic bag for new mattress. Several new pieces of furniture was damaged during the move because they refused to use furniture pads. Also when they arrived they raised the price. Absolutely do not recommend.

  2. Crooks.

Damaged items, triple the original estimate, unprofessional, late on picking up furniture. The list goes on and on..

  3. Still waiting.

We recently moved from Montrose Colorado to Portland and couldn't fit everything in our moving truck so when we settles in we put a call into American Moving and storage to have some misc stuff brought to us. They were really friendly and helpful. Then the movers themselves came and picked up our stuff. That's when the nightmare began. They told us a week or so and everything would be delivered. Well 2.5 weeks later it still isn't here. We have had calls from the mover threatening to take our stuff back to our old house. We have been lied to on where our stuff is at. We were told it would be here last Sunday. We just found out it's still in Denver . We can get a call back when they say they will and even then we can't seem to get an honest answer. We just want our stuff!!

  4. Good Feedback and Thank you!

Overall, I am very satisfied by the services that American Moving and Storage provided. My representative David got back to me in a timely fashion when I initially submitted my request online. The movers that moved me from my storage unit in VA to Fl were great. Thank you Reuben and Johnny for the great work. I will definitely use them again at the end of the year when my contract is done. Good job guys!

  5. Very poor customer service.

This company should be closed! I have never been treated so poorly and the damages to my belongings is unreal. It required the police to come and that way the horrible mover had no choice but to move items into the storage area and then left all the heavy furniture in the hall stating it would not fit. (Both the mover and the storage owner viewed the unit prior to move in and agreed it was large enough. The sad thing is after contacting the agencies to fill a complaint, but was denied any further action. I thought the purpose of Federal and State agencies was to protect the consumer. Shame on them. At no time did the company give the full name of Tom or Carlos. I will contact the BBB again and the dept. of Transportation and the elder services as I do feel that given my age(80) and the resulting pain and suffering I incurred is not acceptable and to be told they(Senior Abuse Agency) do not handle a personal complaint, I don't know what the H--- their purpose is? I have read the problems others have incurred with this fraudulant company and I would suggest that everyone file very strong complaints with every State and Federal Agency as well as congressman withing the area.

  6. Misguided And Untruthful.

When first making the arrangements for our move everything seem to be fine. Michael from the company was very up front and open with when they would be there to pick up our belongings. Well when the day came to be there I find out that they would not be there till the next day. Then I find out that our belongings wont be delivered for eight days. which we were told would 4 days. then we were told that we would get a 50.00 gift card for refering someone. and talked to two different people we never recieved the card.

  7. Poor service.

This was one of the stressful experiences. The movers where unprofessional, they did not bring the right size truck, they moved around the house like they where lost. I had to leave property behind and was told to hire a Uhaul to pick up the rest of my stuff. The movers argues thru the entire move. Then I was charged extra. They made a hole in the wall and I've spent 3 days so far trying to make a claim. The movers told me several times they just want to go home.  I emailed the person that made the appt. for me reference the damage to the wall and she sent me an automatic email of whom to call to make a claim. I have been attempting to make a claim without any success thus far. Do Not and I repeat DO NOT use this moving service. I am really surprised groupon was carrying them anyways. They will be my next phone call.

  8. Terrible company crooks and liars.

I would like to share my experiences with American Moving and Storage out of Ft. Lauderdale Florida and Glass City Movers out of Toledo Ohio.   ·        We were promised a pick up time of between 12 and 4pm on November 4th.  They did not arrive until 6:30 pm and then said they “forgot” to weigh the truck. They had to drive back out to the freeway to weigh the truck and did not return until almost 8pm. They didn’t finish loading the truck until after 10:30pm . ·        When they arrived they looked around the house and said that we had a lot more things than were on the inventory sheet. The problem was that the truck they sent was not a Semi-truck but a smaller box truck that was already 2/3 full before ever arriving. We had to pick out what was “most important” to us. We were not given the option of them sending a bigger truck or of having a second truck sent. We had to leave behind things with a used replacement value of $2500.00 such as 2 couches,1 lazyboy chair, Leather chair ,12 inch Table saw,  etc.  Most of these things WERE on the original inventory. I was never followed up with closer to move date to see if my inventory had changed. Several items we ended up leaving behind were on the inventory such as a table saw and antique crocks. This was also a major problem because we were renting that house and we had to leave all of those things in the home. This caused us to lose our security deposit. We asked them if they could at least carry the couches to the curb so the trash company could pick them up and they refused saying they don’t touch anything that is not being moved.  My husband and I have physical ailments and we are unable to lift and carry heavy objects.  ·        The company that arrived was Glass City Movers out of Toledo Ohio. We hired American Moving and Storage out of Ft. Lauderdale Florida. We were told repeatedly that American moving and storage was not a broker. The agent that booked our move got on the phone with me and went over how to look up their company using their Department of transportation number to review for safety, complaints, type of license and insurance information. Never once was Glass City movers mentioned. Their DOT id was not provided for research and review. I did not become aware that they had hired another company to do the move until the day before when I had to make out the check. I feel this was misleading and did not allow me to fully research the company who was actually performing the move. They never mentioned that their company would not be the one arriving at our door. ·        As far as the price goes, I was given an estimate of $1344.99 for 2325 pounds. I was told that was an average weight and it would be dependent of total weight at the end. The end price was $2016.56 almost $700.00 more. I feel like they intentionally give you a low ball estimate lower than other companies so you will book with them and then in the end, the total is always much higher. It felt like a bait and switch. If you refuse to pay the difference, they hold your stuff hostage and won’t give it to you! ·        I did complain verbally and in writing to American moving and storage. We traded emails and phone calls for a few weeks and finally an offer of $100. refund was made. I told them that this was unacceptable for all that we had left behind. They came back and said at first that they would refund us $300  If we would write up our complaint and let them read it before publishing it. The man I spoke to James Scott told me that they were not asking us to lie. They said we could put on paper our experiences but that they wanted to make sure that we did reference the fact that his company did work with us to rectify our issues. I wrote the review and in it I did as he instructed and I mentioned the issues factually but also said the company did work with me.  I emailed the review to  James and he called me several days later after I sent two follow up emails and said that what I wrote was unflattering to his company and NOW I could only get the $300. Refund if I agreed not to publish anything at all! I would have to sign a waiver stating that I would never publish any review or complaints. I said what happened to us being able to tell our side? He said that himself “we are not asking you to lie”.   The bottom line is they wanted to buy my silence for $300. Bucks!! This is immoral and probably illegal and it is definitely bad business. ·        I would NEVER hire this company again. I would advise you to NOT hire this company. They lie and they cheat and they try to strong arm you into a good review. We lost a bunch of things that we really wanted but had no way to get them down here. My landlord kept my security deposit because all left all of those things in his house! In the end, I told them to stick their $300.00 because the truth was more important. What an unscrupulous bunch of thieves.  I have received nothing for all of my trouble and aggravation.    .

  9. Thank you for helping me move during holidays.

I don't live to do reviews but it's been very stressful moving during holidays and this company helped me make it happen. Thanks for making it happen I'm glad I went through with the company. I was skeptical at first but after calling multiple times to make sure it was the company I wanted to use they responded well. Thanks again I do recommend using American moving..

  10. Great experience.

I don't normally write reviews when I get the kind of service I would expect from any reputable company, but I was so impressed with the customer service I received from American Moving & Storage that I decided to take the time out to do so. I understand it's a risk anyone takes to hire any moving company just going online and choosing one, but I'm glad I made the right choice. From the start, the salesman made me feel completely at ease and answered all of my questions. They were very professional and I was so happy and satisfied with their services. I felt they went above and beyond what my expectations were and I would highly recommend them and would use them again in the future.

  11. Very Professional Organization.

Moving is stressful and I was very nervous about choosing the right mover for my long distance move this fall.  After dealing with multiple companies over the phone all of whom pushed for my business I found American moving and storage. The rep I spoke with was Angelo. He was kind, courteous and made me feel comfortable. He offered me a fair price but not only that, he walked me through the entire process to  prepare me for move day.  This was a huge decision for me as my husband was already in FL working and was dealing with the move alone with my 2 small children. I ended up trusting American Moving with my business and I must say I couldn't have been happier. The movers were prompt and professional and my final bill was exactly as estimated by Angelo. I would highly reccomend this service to anyone in need of a long distance mover!   -Allison.

  12. Do Not use this company!

I am going to make this short and simple, please look elsewhere when looking for movers. First, they are misleading you into thinking that they are the reputable company "American Moving and Storage" when in actuality, they are "American moving and storage services".   They are brokers, not the actual business who does the moving of your belongings.  They contract out to other, very unprofessional, businesses. I had several items damaged, water damage to tables;paint on tables was warped and cracked.  The customer service was poor, and caused a lot of anxiety due to worrying about where my furniture was and if/when it would be delivered.  We waited an hour past the window for the pick up, and had to contact the company ourselves to find out where they were, rather than have a courtesy call that they were going to be late.  The pick up team broke a piece of furniture right in front of me with no apology.  The guy was going to try to play it off as if he didn't do it and began to push it back together, until I confronted him, and even then he didn't acknowledge his carelessness, nor apologize.  Just don't use them, there are many others out there.  Research and best of luck with your move. .

  13. Job Well Done!!

I researched local movers here in town for a upcoming move from here in Ft Lauderdale, FL to LA California and while doing so I came across a lot of brokers and movers who just seemed to have the old car sales tactics on the phone conversations between me and them while getting estimates for pricing on this relocation I was planning to CA.

After doing some more research on the industry I came up with the idea of just having a major company such as Bekins Van Lines who is here local to have a representative come to the house and give me a visual estimate which would be garunteed to me in writing.

I did just that and had Bekins come out and give me an estimate and they came up with a pretty pricy cost for this move to take place and I wasn't moving a whole lot of property nor boxes for that matter, So automatically after seeing such a high tallied price I went back to my researching of movers in the area for comparisons. I then came across American Moving And Storage which also sent a representative to my house to provide me with an onsite estimate, the Person Mike who came out was very polite and seemed to be a very honest and well rounded guy who I could trust with my belongings on a trip of roughly 3000 miles..As for the pricing it wasn't much cheaper than the previous company Bekins but the difference was enough to obviously use this carrier over the other brokers and Bekins who had a higher price associated with this move..

They showed on time and pick up went accordingly as planned when making my reservation with Brandon the sales rep, He got everything handled for me and made sure I was fully aware of all the cost associated with the move and anything else important I would need to be informed of prior to getting a move like this done..

Delivery was a little later than expected but the total bill surprisingly was less than what Brandon and Mike had originally quoted me for on this move, They did say initially that this could happen but I didn't think so and was totally happy when they actually told me it was about $405 cheaper, Not too many damages and over all service was very pleasant. If I had a chance to recommend a mover to any friend or family member out of FL it would be this company.

Big Thanks to Mike/ Brandon Job well done guys! ;).

  14. Poor Delivery and Service After The Sale.

The contract (QUOTED FOR $3936.06, DELIVERED AT $5082.76 written by Anthony) for my delivery stated I would be paid $.60 per pound for damages for my furniture picked up in Aurora, IL and delivered on May 5 to Sachse TX. After delivery, on May 5, I started pointing out damages to the movers. They stated that I needed to talk to the driver. The driver stated that he was not staying for me to point out damages and that I needed to put them in writing and send them in to the address on the form that he had me sign. He also refused to put up my twin beds and some other items that was taken apart during the move. I emailed pictures of the damages to the contracting company Anthony (American Moving and Storage) and third party who packed my items in IL Diana (Best Price Moving) because I didn't know who was responsible for the damages. This email was sent at 7:45 am on May 6 . No one responded. I was finally able to reach a gentleman named Tom who emailed me a claims form on May 6th. Tom stated in his reply email that it would be best to unpack just in case there were more damages and send everything in at once via the form. Weeks went by before I could get someone to even acknowledge receipt of my emails. On July 16, I finally heard from someone named Nadine and around that same time (via Yelp social website) a guy named Mike stating that I should hear from them by September 9. I started emailing again when I did not hear from anyone on September 9. Nadine finally replied and said I should be receiving correspondence within the week. I received a letter on September 19 stating that my claim had been denied because I did not report the claims in time, which I totally disagree with. I tried pointing things out to both the movers and the driver but their driver was in a hurry and apparently disregarded their process. He stated that he was NOT staying for me to point out the damages and asked that I put them in writing. I also have phone records and emails where I've tried reaching out to American Moving and Storage. The letter that I finally received from them on September 19 also states that I had already received $260. That $260 was from the first third party company (that they contracted) paid for the hole they put in the wall moving my recliner at the IL location that I moved from. The damages I'm seeking is for the final delivery in TX. American Moving and Storage also sent me a $100 "complimentary" check apologizing for my damages stating that they would not be taking any further actions. I find that highly unacceptable when I have scrapes, dings, and broken pieces to a lot of my furniture, holes in my elliptical machine, damage to my walls, leg broken off my couch, cushion torn off my treadmill, broken recliner, scrapes in my new hardwood floor (brand new construction home), destroyed patio cover, broken garbage cans, etc. If their driver had followed company protocol, the damages would have been pointed out immediately, instead he chose not to stay and asked that I write them in. Which, I did so at 7:45 am the next morning. Attached are just a couple of sample photos.

  15. Thanks Again!

Unfortunately we had to move back to Florida from Connecticut, it was not what we had hoped for.  We had just moved there about six months ago with the hopes of new employment, new opportunities and a new start.  James from American Moving and Storage Services was wonderful.  We called James back when we decided it was truly not for us and he was just as sincere as he was the last time.  Thanks James for your help and support, we really appreciated it.
