  1. Stay Away from this "company".

STAY AWAY!!  Read the reviews because they do not lie.  Terrible customer service.  Terribly underestimated for price and size of delivery.  Two movers showed up 7 hours late and took nearly 3 days for full packup.  Delivery was 10 days later.  We were told by the Manager Derrick that greater than 2 days would require a charge but we were initially told by Anthony, our service agent that 7 days would be without charge.  All items were not labeled making for a very difficult move in.  The movers damaged both the move-out and move-in homes, costing me $ to the landlord of the move out home.  Next time I will use a reputable moving company like many of my military moves.  It costs more to cut corners with American Moving and Storage of Florida than to do it right with a quality company.  .

  2. Awful company.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They are completely dishonest and do not follow through.  One to two days before the move was to occur they were supposed to call me to provide the time range.  By the end of the day I had received no call so I called them.  They asked if we can move the range by 1 day and I agreed.  The were suppose to call me the next day with the time frame.  By the end of that day I called them again and the them again.  The sales guy Mark wasjust aggravatd and told me to call dispatch.  Dispatch never answers the phone or sets up the voicemail so I just had to keep calling constantly for 45 minutes before someone picked up the phone.  When I spoke with Tom the dispatcher he basically told me that they could not commit to the move and that I should fine someone else.  WITH ONE DAYS NOTICE.  I was lucky enough to find a BBB company that could do the move so I called them the next day to cancel the move that they could not commit to and to ask for my refund which they said they would process that day.  Three days later I am still trying to get my refund.     This is not a BBB business and I would advise against using this company.

  3. I highly recommend this company.

My wife and I were searching for a moving comapny to mover her parents to West Long Brach, NJ from Coral Springs, FL. A friend told us about American Moving and Storage Servies out of Ft Lauderale. He had used them to move his parents down to Tamarac, FL from upstate NY. As he's been a life long friend of mine I took his advice. We are so glad we did. After hearing all the horror stories on how movers can take advantage of people. We were fortunate enough to get one of the good and honest companies. The sales rep James gave us a price based on the items we told him that were to moved. He explained that this was just an estimate and we would only pay for the weight we had. It was reasonable but to be sure we did shop around for different pricing. They weren't the cheapest but they weren't the most either. So based on my fiends advice we booked with them. Two days before our move we got a call stating that they would be picking us up at 9 am. The day of the move came and the truck pulled up right on time at 9 am. We had everything boxed up that could fit in a box, my wife made sure of that. The crew came in and walked through the house and saw that there were a few things more that what was estimated. The driver Ruben gave us a new estimate with the added items and we agreed because we did miss those things with James when we set up the move. They took apart the bed and dinning room table, wrapped all othe furnitue up and loaded it on the truck. It was pretty amazing how they packed it up so neat in their truck. Two days afer we got a call from them giving us our new price after they had weighed the truck. The girl that called us said the delivery would be in about three days or so and the driver would call us 24 hours before delivery. The form of payment could be cash or postal money order. The day before the delivery we did hear from the driver Ruben and he was here the next day, He and his crew unloaded everything and put the bed and table back together. I would recommend this company to anyone moving, they are honest and follow through with their promises.

  4. Movers Never Arrived Waiting All Day.

Horrible experience everyone please BEWARE DO NOT USE THIS moving company. They are not honest and will say anything to try and keep your deposit. They had us wait all day waiting for the truck to arrive and it was one excuse after another. We have 5 children and all missed a day of school waiting for the truck to arrive so we can move out of state  but when it was all said and done they told us that we had REFUSED the truck without even coming to the house WHICH IT WAS A BIG FAT LIE. Now they are trying to keep our deposit. If they don't refund our deposit we will be seeing them to court.

  5. Great job!

My family and I had to move from Florida to Connecticut and searched on line for a mover and after multiple estimates and a lot of phone calls we decided to go with James because we felt he actually cared about our move and seemed genuine.  We are glad we did as our move went well and we felt it necessary to post this.  If we move again I look forward to speaking with James at American Moving and Storage Services.

  6. Horrible-dishonest-missing items.

I will be as brief as possible. In short, the salesman was politely aggressive to "Seal the deal" and once he had my down payment, he dropped off the face of the earth.  I told him and the condescending person that answers the telephone there that I needed five days notice to make arrangements with my building for elevator and guard ( their requirements.. My building) and to arrange my work schedule.  I brought this up prior to booking the move and multiple times after, verbally and in writing.Other than the salesman calling me to secure my downpayment, after that, a phone call was never initiated to me regarding anything.
I had issues with the undisclosed fees for packaging materials.  Sure you are told, " oh yes we wrap the furniture in blankets and put it on the truck, not a problem"  they fail to tell you that you pay for the tape that their complimentary moving blankets need to cover the furniture.  Ummm.. You are a moving company, you need to secure the items, if not you should call yourself the blanket tossing movers. Ridiculous.  When trying to dispute some of the charges, my salesman simply pushed it off on another girl in the office who responded in the rudest manner via email.  (I will be more than glad to provide the exact email should you want verification)  I was told " you were informed of the fees. Blah blah blah blah.  No consideration nothing. The most unhelpful impolite unprofessional shady business I have ever encountered.

Fast forward, that they called me when they were 12 hours away and I was told by the court little receptionist that I " would accommodate their drivers in the morning"  oh really?  ( I hired your company, so you work for me.  I was not telling them how to conduct themselves but they had the opportunity on five different occasions to let me know that they would not be able to accommodate my 5-day advance notice request. But nope nobody had the decency or courtesy or where with all to mention that.  So then that just gives them license to hold you and your staff and your finances hostage when you are unable to accommodate them) well after the necessity of taking off a non-approved day at work and paying an additional 200$ fee to my building ( because they had to hire guard on last minute), I was able to accommodate.
I am told at that time: " oh we need to shuttle your stuff because you don't have an 18 wheeler permit on your block"  who does? Yes, of course, this is in the contract, very cleverly worded. But why not be upfront and conduct your business from a place of integrity and say " hey we do a lot of work in the NY metro area and we can't use our big trucks for this move and calculate it into the price up front?) instead of getting slammed with that little phony trick as they hold your possessions hostage, for which you will pay for them to shove into storage and move again for an additional fee if you do not pay the said last minute shuttle truck fee in cash or money order!! No credit cards accepted) I manage to scrounge up the cash at the last minute, the guys arrive and the first thing out of their mouth is " your couch won't fit.  We are going to have to call the office to get a quote to carry it up the 9 flights of stairs. Quote 650$.  No, I am not kidding. No, I do not own a pull out couch or a heavy one, it is just long.
I will say that the crew from fort Lauderdale that originally picked up my stuff were great guys, and the two that delivered it were fine as well, however half of my armoire is missing, stolen, broken, gone, not delivered, whatever you want to say about it, it did not arrive. It is positively useless to anyone else but me, yet it is a piece of furniture over $5000 dollars and it is rendered a completely useless box without the base ( which also contains the shelves, hardware etc.)
Here is the beauty, the guys who delivered the one guy said " oh man I think I saw it, its back on the big truck. We will have to bring it back to you because we think it is there". Fast forward, it's not in plain sight and they apparently have another delivery to make and perhaps " it was mixed in with their stuff".
Well, of course, no phone call to tell me " I'm sorry, it's not here we will contact customer service and advise you to as well"  just "Nah.. Not here"

So I contact the office, they send me a claim form.  No dialogue about how the process works, nothing. Just here fill out this form.  A form is a claim form for them to initiate the search for my missing furniture with a line that once I sign it, says that I agree to completely absolve them of their responsibility in this matter whatsoever.  I had my attorney look at it and was informed it was the most bogus contract he has ever seen and I was advised not to sign it.
Of course, today is Friday and apparently everyone in the office that I need to speak to the left at 230 for the day but when a friend called and asked for two of the individuals I need to speak with they were "Readily available" isn't that a cute professional trick?
Where I went wrong was initially I was contacting
American moving and storage  ( receive decent reviews, unlike the horrifying reviews that
American moving and storage services get ( the company that I erroneously used.  I would never have recognized the difference in names, who would have? Unless you are a seasoned mover you are in a position of total victim to be taken advantage of by this ship-shoddy operation and their horrible staff and your hard earned money and the possessions you bought with it, will easily slip right out of your hands and into the abyss without one spec of consideration from them.  You can tell by the trash that operates the office that they do this hook and crook all day long.
    Horrible experience
    Horrible service
Horrible staff ( except the packers) rude and impolite
    Horribly shady business
I have already set up my complaint with the BBB and my attorney is going to file my claim for me since their missing items form is no good.  What kind of thing is that? That just means they can steal or sell your items and when you realize they are missing, you have to agree to tell them that they were never responsible for it in the first place? Come one. How can the department of transportation or whatever another moving regulatory committee is in place allow them to conduct business this way?
There is one decent review for them in twenty. It is criminal seriously.

  7. Very Satisfied Customer : )).

I want to thank Brandon and the whole American Moving Team who serviced my move from FL to LA, they were very helpful and made the entire process clear to me from the start of our conversation. I had doubts going into this process seeing as how there are so many scams out there but with this company being in business 14 plus years I felt comfortable enough to allow them to handle my move and I can't be more happier with my decision to do so..     Thanks guys I appreicate all the hard work : ).

  8. Moving made easy!

I had to move pertty suddenly.  This was my first time using a moving company and this was a very good experience for me.  They were able to assist me in packing up my things and getting me moved in 1 day.  The team was knowledgeable, helpful and hardworking to get everything completed in a timely manner.  Thank you for making my move easy!

  9. Great service!

I must let everyone know what a fabulous company this was to move with. I have moved many times due to my business. This was the first great move. From the moment I called and spoke with Vernon, I felt so comfortable that my belongings will be in good hands. It is very scary to know your giving all your household goods to someone. The stress level is over the top. Even though I have moved many times Vernon explained the complete process.  Everything he said is exactly what took place. Vernon, thanks so much to you, your dispatcher and your customer service dept that kept me in the loop at all times. I have already referred you to my co-workers.

  10. Do not use this company.

[I am willing to bet any amount of money that "Elizabeth," "Desiree," and "Tim" are all fake positive reviews]
Communication and customer service was absolutely appalling.  Truly my worst experience with any business as a client.
Please save yourself a huge hassle and look elsewhere for your moving needs.  I had looked up reviews for this company before booking them, but their name is very similar to the BBB-accredited "American Moving and Storage" (no "Services" in title) company based in Columbus, Ohio..and I mistakenly thought the 2 companies were the same.
I'm providing some of my move details below.  I know AM&SS is cheaper than a few other companies but the frustration is absolutely not worth it.
Pick-up date in Vermont: Sunday, 1/19/14 (pre-agreed date was 1/18)
Delivery date in Reno, Nevada: Wednesday 2/26/14 (pre-agreed date was 2/8, then 2/15, then 2/22)
Vernon was the customer service representative during my booking process.  As soon as Vernon had my card information confirmed, I never heard from him again, despite sending him 2-3 emails and leaving voicemails at his direct extension.
AM&SS does not directly tend to any moving needs for their customers.  Instead, they outsource their work to OTHER moving companies.  I did not know this when I first booked, and had the communication not been so horrendous, it wouldn't have mattered to me. They also do not have a 24/7 customer line for people who experience issues with their move, as I did in my case, since my movers did not show up on both ends of the process.
My full review is available on Yelp, so please read it there.

  11. Household Move.

My family and I used American Moving and Storage Services to move from New York to Florida and couldn't have been happier. The office staff and driver were extremely professional. The driver arrived on time and packed up my house and loaded everything on the truck with such care. The office staff kept in contact with me the whole time and knew exactly when my stuff would arrive. I would recommend American Moving and Storage Services to anyone needing a mover. They made the whole process stress free and enjoyable.

  12. Excellent service.

I recently used american moving and storage for a move from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Stuart, Florida. I was very pleased with their company. The office staff and drivers were very professional. It was great working with this company and I have recommended them to family and friends.

  13. A great expierence.

My family and I recently had to move our household goods from Boca Raton, FL to Boynton Beach, FL. After researching what moving company would be the best for our local move, we decided to go with American Moving and Storage Services and couldn't have been happier with our decision.  I first spoke to the friendly office staff and then a sales person by the name of Vinny.  He was extremely helpful and his advise on what we could do to save money by doing certain things ourselves was very nice. He explained everything that would happen on the day of the move and at first I was a bit nervous wondering if this was to good to be true but it turned out to be better. The day before the move, we recieved a call from Nadine in the office and was given a time slot for the next day. My wife and I were finishing up the last odds and ends when the drivers Johnny and Richard arrived. They were extremely nice and funny too. They made our move look so easy when we knew most of our items were very heavy. They put everything in the truck and followed us to our new home in Boynton Beach. When we got there, they parked and came in to see where everything was going. Richard started taking everything off the truck and Johnny brought  it in the house. We had a very heavy sofa and old projection screen TV we wanted to put in the den upstairs and they had no problems carrying it up the stairs. My wife and I were in amazement as to the strength of these two young men. When everything was off the truck, they asked us to sign our paperwork and my wife and I were so happy with the experience we tipped them more then we origianally had planned too. When they left, my wife and I looked at each other and said we will never move our stuff again and would hire American Moving and Storage Services. It was worth paying the money to avoid hurting ourselves with what the guys make look so easy.  We have their numbers programmed in our phones and will recommend them to everyone we know.  We just wanted to give a great big thanks to American Moving and Storage Services,  Johnny and Richard and the friendly office staff. You were all great and we will be using you again when we need a mover. Thank you again!!

  14. Poor performance and bad communication.

They were not the cheapest but claimed to have an established system of regular shipments from Florida to NY; consequently, we chose Amereican Moving and Storage Services.  Big mistake!!  As soon as they picked up the shipment and promised delivery as soon as four days later, they became very uncommunicative.  Yes, there were snow storms but the shipment was not delivered for 24 days.  Efforts to find out what was the problem and when the shipment would arrive produced only vague claims that their trucks were stuck in New Jersey or Virginia. We would not recommend them to anyone and cannot rate their performance any higher than poor inany category.
     .

  15. Dishonest Company with no communication - do not use.

Terrible Terrible dishonest company - do not use if you want your furniture 5.0   My parents used this company to pick up the contents of their home in Florida, store them for 1 month and deliver to their new home in Nevada. Sounds great on the phone when they tell you they can do it no problem and competitive price. All hell breaks loose when they try to execute.nnWhen my parents called to have their belongings picked up - a week in advance - they were told next Friday all set. When the movers did not show up on Friday, they were told they needed a 2 day window for pickup and it would be picked up tomorrow, Saturday. The good news was that it was picked up on Saturday and my parents still owned the home.nnNow it comes time to get the delivery. My father again calls up a week in advance and asks for it to be delivered on Thursday. He tells them since they need a 2 day window - Thursday or Friday is good. Thursday he calls to get the estimate of when the movers will be there - he is told now they need a 4 day window and it could arrive any time between Thursday - Sunday. He asks for Anthony to call him back (Anthony is the person he placed his initial order with that told him oh yes we can do this - Anthony never calls back) . I call on Saturday to get an estimate of when the movers are coming - the operator tells me the driver is on the West Coast and is estimating delivery Sunday. Of course they did not show up Sunday and the office is closed no answer. Sunday afternoon the driver himself calls my mother and tells her he will be there Monday between 8AM - 12PM and does she have the money?? We asked for delivery Thursday-Friday and got delivery Monday? My brother and I flew in over the weekend to unload banking on delivery.nnThe driver told my parents he didn't leave Florida until Friday. The company lied to me when they said the driver was on the West Coast. They also fell through with their commitment to deliver when we asked Thursday or Friday.nnDo not use this dishonest company that has poor customer service.
