  1. Worst service ever.

I did not know they were brokers until someone from Call Me Van Lines showed at my door. They did a terrible job of packing me, stole some of my things and threw a lot of my things into 7 wardrobe containers. The bill of lading did not have the cubic footage, and I was charged and extra $4000.00 because I had too much stuff by David of Call me van lines who said he would not put my stuff from AZ on the truck going from CA to FL unless I paid more. I did not have that much, I had one bedroom and LR dinning room, kitchen and den. I am missing a 50" Samsung smart TV and other items of value, and some jewelry. Many items were broken or covered with wax because candles were thrown into open boxes with other things all on top of each other. I am still finding things that I am missing as I get more moved in and go to use these items.
At no time did Jack or Darren indicate that someone other than them would be doing my move.
Be very careful and if you book with them find out who is going to do the move and check them out. My mistake, did not do that. Did not know that.. be wise..

  2. They are only brokers.

When I had Hertz vanlines to move me from California to Houston Texas, I didn't realize that they were brokers only.. They subcontract
To Call me vanlines whose owner David was very rude..
Call me vanlines then hired another mover to move my stuff to my destination in Houston where I found out I lost 6 boxes of stuffs
& 3 other things that weren't packed in the box
My stuff came in a very bad shape condition, some boxes are torn
Some were wide opened.. Lots of broken dishes ..I lost all my winter wool & Leather jackets & coats.. I tried to contact John @ Hertz vanlines but he didn't response to my calls or emails anymore
The same with David @ Call me vanlines .. They are so unprofessional, I feel like being robbed by complete strangers
BTW they always asked for at least 1 thousand dollars more when they came to pick up your stuff even I told him (John) exactly what I had.

  3. Poor service, Untruthful.

    Hi,
this company said they are not brokers but in the end the people who moved my things from Ohio to Utah was another company. Few of my things were broken and the pople who came to pick up things were so late and took for ever. Also the guys kicked my mattress right in front of me. they did not bring proper packaging material and were very much focused on adding last minute costs. Customer service was very poor as well.

  4. Hertz Van Lines - Never Again.

The accuracy of your inventory is extremely important and it took several communications with Hertz to get a bid based on an accurate inventory I had sent them. They were not alone and not one single mover, including those big companies that did an on-site inventory, produced an accurate inventory for bidding. After numerous requests, Hertz finally got it right, came up with the lowest bid and I engaged them for the move. If your inventory is inaccurate and understates the size of the move, the mover is entitled to extra charges that will be extremely expensive. Hertz is a broker and solicits bids from third party movers of questionable integrity. You have no say in the selection and I suspect the low bids are a dice roll where they hope to catch you with extra charges.
    ------
Next, do not believe anything Hertz says on the phone. Demand it in writing down to the most minute detail of concern. Note in particular the moving date conditions since an unscrupulous mover will use these to force you to agree to terms you might normally reject. In my case, the mover was East Coast Operations who failed to keep the first appointment date and notified me only hours in advance. They showed up late the following day and demanded I sign a blank inventory form or they would leave. My situation was desperate and a domino effect of bad consequences would be set in motion if I did not move that day. I signed. I call that extortion.
    ------
I was ready to pay 1/2 of the cost by postal money order when the "extras" turned up after the truck was loaded. The foreman refused to review the inventory with me and make corrections to obvious errors. His boss, by telephone, told me we owed them $5000 but he would reduce it to $800 above the contract price. I refused and did not make any payment and in retrospect, it is good I did not.
    ------
I tried to work this out with East Coast Operations, repeatedly asking them to document the extra charges but they insisted I just pay the total extras, which they would now reduce to $400. Again I refused demanding they itemize the extras. I copied Hertz in on all communication with East Coast Operations.
    ------
When Hertz did get involved, they said I should pay the extras because I kept "changing the inventory." I had to remind them it was they who kept changing the inventory because of the errors they made and repeatedly failed to correct. The inventory I sent them was completely accurate and actually included several boxes I did not have. In the end, East Coast Operations could not document the extra charges, which included removing empty drawers from furniture, packing them separately and then claiming they were part of the extra charges for packing and materials. This was totally unnecessary and just an attempt to run up the charges. No reputable mover does what they did.
    ------
East Coast Operations had my furniture but I had their money. Hertz had my deposit but were totally useless in resolving problems with the mover and instead took their side and tried to make it look like it was my fault. It took ten days, all within the time permitted by the Hertz contract, to get my furniture. The delivery was made by yet another mover who bought my contract. They did a good job and I don't blame them for the unnecessarily delayed delivery.
    ------
I will never, ever consider using Hertz again and if I had a list of the contractors they use, I would make it a point to avoid every one of them. The "service" provide by broker Hertz is not worth the money, time, anxiety and aggravation you will experience.

  5. Worst company ever!

I hired this company since they quoted the lowest price at $4900. They told me the price was firm unless I added new items to the inventory. When the movers arrived, they said that Hertz had under-estimated the cubic feet and the move would actually cost $3100 more than Hertz had quoted. I immediately called Hertz and told them what was going on. They told me to "work it out with the mover." I told them I didn't have the $3100 and they said "you'll just have to work out some sort of a payment plan." When I hired Hertz, who are brokers, they told me that having a broker is a great help if you have a problem since they would deal with all issues that came up. They were condescending, patronizing, and basically told me it wasn't their problem. For what I was getting charged, I could have used United Van Lines (who also would have supplied all the boxes for free). We are in the process of working with an attorney and plan to take Hertz to court. The name of this company should be "bait and switch.".

  6. Hertz Van LInes.

If there was a "star rating" lower than one star, this company should get it. My move from WV to FL was a disaster. Hertz does not have its own moving trucks, they contract with local movers-in my case the movers were with "Moving America" in Miami Florida. I had numerous pieces of antique furniture damaged. These pieces not only lost their value as antiques, but were inherited pieces from my grandparents and a great grandmother, and therefore irreplaceable at any price. Many of the boxes were smashed, torn and dirty. I also had a bookshelf (handmade by my grandfather) missing as well as a computer shelf and one box of books. When the bookcase was finally delivered, it was severely damaged and the movers had attempted to glue and nail it back together. This only compounds the problem to have it professionally repaired. The last box was delivered by USPS. The box was dirty inside and out and several books damaged, including my grandmother's Bible.
In addition, I had an extremely difficult time obtaining the required paperwork to file a claim.
In my opinion Hertz Van Lines totally misrepresented what my moving experience would be, and Moving America should not be in the business of transporting customer's possessions at all.

  7. Never Again - Hertz Was Truly Terrible.

We are still recovering from a very bad cross-country move experience from Denver to Florida with Hertz. The whole operation was unclear, disorganized, and we were frankly ripped off. I wish we had gone with PODS. Hertz sub-contracted their work to several other low-quality moving companies, and then left us to deal with the consequences/poor services. Everything from the movers in Denver who charged us 1500 dollars more (when I tried to cut down on the amount I was told "that item is only like 7 dollars it won't matter so pack it"), to very small things being listed as taking up much truck space, to Hertz listing our belongings incorrectly, to our items being left in a warehouse, to the Texas company who delivered our things late (so we were stuck in a hotel for 2 weeks), to the unloaders who didn't show up in Florida. I truly wish there were negative stars to give this company. Don't believe Hertz if they say they will give you a good deal, it is a lie, and you will be charged more and have to deal with multiple poor quality sub-contractors. I will take every opportunity to give bad reviews to Hertz Van Lines in all forums.

  8. Bad Move with Hertz!

I'll never use Hertz Van Lines again! I had the same bad experience as seen in other reviews. They sub-contracted out my move to a poorly rated company I've never heard of and didn't have a chance to review! The moving company that showed up on move day had their own more exspensive and restrictive contract. This contract, among other things, allowed them to deliver my household goods up to 21 days late! They also lost and damaged items..beware!, read the reviews!

  9. Movers.

Do not use Hertz they are a contractor for other companies.
They will do nothing to help after you book the move. The customer care flat told me he didn't care if we were happy. Hertz contracted Trans Van lines to do our move. It cost me 1200 more than quote. My items were damaged and had 8 boxes missing.
Mattress was split open. Entertainment cabinet had holes where dryer had been on top of it.
    Washer dryer vent and black.
I could go on. Still trying to do a claim
They said I will get 60 a lb and items lost are just gone. Please learn from me! Go with a good company.

  10. Move from Tampa to Reno.

Bottom line, would NEVER use them again. They handed off the move to a company in Florida and my goods were moved/stored THREE times before delivered in Reno. Missing were a Weber BBQ grill, a step ladder, legs for a sectional, and numerous items were damaged beyond repair..

Calls and emails to Hertz were completely unresponsive.
Folks, you have been duly warned.

  11. Save your money and grief.

The worst moving experience. Dishonest and unwilling to take responsibility for damage that they caused. Hundreds of dollars damage to our things and several items missing that they won't acknowledge or look for in their own warehouse. Go with someone else. This company is horrible. I work for a very large company that use vanline companies all the time. I am personally warning all od our office location of these crooks.

  12. Worst Company for your Move.

Never - Never plan your move with this company. I had worst experience of my life in dealing with Hertz Van Lines regarding my move this past May, 2016. On my first contact with the company, the sales representative discussed the move, provided a cost estimate for the move and took pre-move deposit. However, the company sub-contracted the job to a local moving company. The local company, when showed up on the day of move, had their own terms & conditions. The local movers demand a lot of extra money before the start of move. It should be noted that the items the local movers were asking extra money had already been discussed with the Hertz Van Lines's sales guy and were promised to have been included in the original estimate. My requests to speak with sales person at Hertz Van to clarify the matter (-vs. local mover's demands) were stone-walled by the arrogant Customer Service Representatives at Hertz Van Lines. Being frustrated, I canceled the move. The company gulped down/did not return my pre-move deposit (several hundred dollars). My letters to the owner of company to look into the matter remain unanswered as of today. In summary, the company did not move an iota of my items , but gulped down the deposit money , which is what I think they were working on.

  13. Hertz Delivered for my relocation.

I'm not a big reviewer but I felt compelled to say some good things about Hertz Van Lines. I received quotes from several different company's with Hertz's quote being just about in the middle. Pricing I felt was competitive. Phone reps sounded pretty knowledgeable. I wasn't in a rush so I figured if the guys who came to my home scared me off a little I would tell them to leave and find someone else. That wasn't the case though. The crew when they arrived was just as helpful and knowledgeable. They took extra care in wrapping and protecting my stuff. Had my home packed and loaded within 4 hours which I was impressed with that time frame. Delivery came and nothing was broken. Just wanted to take the time out to say thank you to the guys at Hertz for doing such a great job.

  14. Hertz Van Lines.

Anyone who has ever moved knows that it’s a stressful situation. You can either do it yourself or hire movers. I’d prefer to do it myself but the cost of the truck, getting helpers, the time frame and the backaches is not just worth it. Hertz Van Lines was really great in what they did for me and my family. They packed all of our stuff, used bubble wrap and blankets for the furniture and all. They were quick. I worried about cost but to my delight, the finished price was extremely close to the initial quote. I actually gave them a little extra cash since it was well deserved. I highly recommend them to my friends and family and anyone else looking to move.

  15. Very Methodical.

I hate moving. I have moved plenty of times in my life. I always get stuck with companies with poor service and poor attitudes. Excuse my language. This time around I spoke with friends and colleagues to get a reference rather than trying to find a company on my own. I wound up talking to Hertz Van Lines. I am now pleasantly surprised. I spoke to the reservations agent who took down all of my information. He asked a lot of questions. Suggested items that I may have overlooked. Surprise surprise, I did overlook items. Once everything was accounted for we then over estimated on how many boxes I’d need for my move. The agent then generated a quote for me that I was happy with so I went ahead and reserved my date to move. On the day of my move, these guys were very methodical. They moved quickly when necessary. They moved slowly when necessary like when packing my fragile glass items. They worked long and hard and got the job done. They even offered more help than anticipated at delivery. All in all I would say this was a very good experience and I am glad I took the time out to speak with friend’s family and coworkers to make sure I found a good company.
