  1. Moving within the city.

    I hate moving and hired movers so it would go smoothly. It was the complete opposite! We had to help (3 women and a kid) because only 1 guy was working. Movers confirmed the night before they would arrive between 8-9am. They arrived past 10am. “We went to the wrong address” was their excuse (doesn’t everyone have GPS!? Or wouldn’t a smart person check the address the day before if they weren’t familiar with the city??!). Movers were not professional (no matter how many times they said they were) They were argumentative (more than once during the day) and practically called me a liar multiple times. I was quoted a price of 480$ + tax. They charged me close to 1000$ And wanted to charge me an extra half hour. (Took them 6 hours to move a small 2 bedroom apartment). They damaged some of my things which I only noticed after they had left.
    I will NOT recommend them to anyone, and regret using this company. Stay far away!

  2. Great Service.

    The service of this company is great. I contacted them for an emergency move and the people on the phone was so nice and book me on the afternoon. Everything was good aside from the traffic jam but understandable since it's not the movers fault.

  3. Called day of move to say they were not coming!!

    Unbelievable. Our house is sold and we have to move out. Metropolitan movers called on the morning of the move to initially to delay the start by two hours. Then they called to cancel, saying their truck broke down. Can’t they rent anything? They have no backup plan? We’re screwed.

    Their response: “ there’s nothing I can do, I’m going to hang up now”

    We’re scrambling trying to find another mover, but Metropolitan has not heard the end of this.

    I sincerely believe that Metropolitan Movers are among the best in the industry. I contracted them to move my things and they did just that.

  5. Metropolitan Movers Etobicoke.

    Do not use this company. They were almost an hour late. And the three young men that showed up were not professional movers at all. Hardly spoke English and were not wearing proper clothing or shoes. They had no idea what they were doing. They had to rearrange the truck 3 times to fit things in. I had to help move things because they were so slow. One of them stood around several times and when he did carry things he carried one tiny item at a time. My 11 year old daughter could carry more. Once we got to the new house we had to help them put furniture back together. They broke a leg off my ottoman and left muddy foot prints throughout entire house. Then when it came to pay they charged way more than quoted. I called to speak to a manger ( he also did not speak English well at all) and kept making excuses. He offered to waive a fee I was never even supposed to be charged. I would not recommend this moving crew or company to anyone. Terrible experience!!

  6. Didnt even move and they charged money.

    Beaware they charge you the base fee if you cancel! I had canceled my moved 1 month prior and they charged me 225$ what a scam! I don't recommend these guys they will rob you blind.

  7. Metro Burlington ON move.

    Be aware. I received my bill before the job was done and noticed extra charges on it. When I asked I was lied to saying that they charge into the next 1/2 hour. So I paid not realizing this. When I checked the contract after, it said "The hourly rate is charged in ½ hour increments, and ten minutes into the next ½ hour the Company will round to the next full ¼ hour". So I called the crew manager and he told me I was charged an extra 25 minutes because when I signed the receipt they still had 25 minutes of work to do.
    They also came into the first house with dirty shoes and walked all over my 1 month old carpet. They did not put blankets or runners down throughout the house. After noticing dirt all over the carpet I asked a crew member to put a blanket down and he said ok. Near the end of the move I noticed he never put a blanket down and the carpet continued to get dirty. After talking to the franchise owner he claims I never asked anyone to put carpet down. This was one of the most frustrating experiences. I was mislead multiple times and was charged for things that were not stated in the contract.

  8. Extraordinary Move.

    An extraordinary move. Efficient, professional. Every person played a pivotal role in securing a smooth and seamless process. There was no wasting of time. Extremely energetic, and well prepared and equipped for the job. Every piece of furniture was meticulously wrapped and secured. Every box was carefully picked up and placed on the truck. They loaded and unloaded two trucks, and not one item was broken or damaged. The services were also very reasonably priced. We are still talking about their exceptional work. I would recommend to anyone.

  9. Worst Moving Experience Ever (Condo) -NIGHTMARE.

    Details of my Moving Experience (North York location experience):
    Let me preface by saying, you would do a much better job of moving by yourself than hiring these people. Prior to my move with Metropolitan Movers, I emailed the owner a detailed and thorough list of all my furniture with the dimensions to the best of my ability so I can be quoted most accurately on the cost for my moving job. I was quoted 3-4 hrs max. The job took over 9.5 hrs and yes I was charged for the full 9.5hrs.

    Quality of Service:
    +From the beginning of the move, the 2 men sent for the job were unprofessional: they kept fighting in front of me, and flirting with the customer. I had to reschedule the elevator with great difficulty since I missed my reserved window, needless to say how frustrating and almost impossible that process was.

    + The owner knew this job was not getting done right and in a timely fashion - he showed up at the scene. The movers showed up to the new condo 3 hours late. The owner mentioned they were newly hired – which explains the lack of quality provided. The unloading process started to drag. Elevators that were reserved for the move started to smell like weed.

    + I had to call family members to come help me with the move as it was getting late.

    + END RESULT: moving day began at 9am and ended way past midnight with close to $2000 of damaged furniture.

    Major Mistakes:
    + I was wrongly quoted for this moving job, despite my thorough email with all items to be moved -- a mistake on the owner's part that he needs to take accountability for.
    +The hired movers were unprofessional in their behaviour and the way they handled my furniture.
    + The movers broke the following items: the display panel of my TV - I got a third party professional company come to certify that the damages were caused by the movers and that my TV is irreplaceable and cannot be fixed. See attachment for pictures. They broke half of my wine glasses, book shelves, and the legs of my wardrobe so the whole thing collapsed. All of these damages cost me close to $1500 to replace. Proof for all damages can and will be provided in court.
    + Worse of all: the receipt I was given was supposedly the contract. I was lied to, and cheated by the mover – he checked off all the boxes on the bottom that covers Metropolitan Movers from any damages without my consent!!
    + I tried to resolve this with the owner the very next day and was blown away by his lack of cooperation and responsibility for his movers' actions. If you make a mistake you take accountability for it. He stated that he already processed the payment through his insurance and there is nothing he can do about it.
    + I want my money back. I want all damages to be paid for as well, and I will fight for it and more.
    + I also feel like Metropolitan Movers falsely advertise themselves online - what you read on the website in terms of quality of service and accuracy is far from reality and is very misleading.
    + And yes I plan on suing them.

  10. Crooks!! Don't give them your Credit Card #.

    Our kids booked them waiting for a move date to firm up. They took their credit card # as "security"..I would have no way! before 24 hours, our kids determined it was going to be a different date and called to cancel. They charged them $197 and have indicated they will be charging them more! They did not adequately inform our kids of their cancellation policy and their invoice and website is very vaguely worded. What a scam outfit and the other reviews show it. We have raised a credit card dispute with MasterCard and will fight them on their despicable rip-off.

  11. Contract, service.

    I contracted metropolitan movers for a move in 5 weeks. I asked for two movers, a large truck enough for a single move within a city, a specific time for start and clear indication of any additional costs. I indicated that I wanted an agreement on the written details before finalization. The same day I got an invoice for one mover and vague response to other questions. When I questioned the one mover they corrected to two movers and were unresponsive to my other questions. I cancelled the order the same day I started 5 weeks before my move. They charged me $119 plus tax for the cancelation. They clearly were not interested in customer service or their reputation.

  12. Not good.

    These guys broke a few things overcharged me and then went past the original quote that they gave me originally I will never use their service again they had a bad attitude the whole time I'm not even sure if they're from America I'd rather give my business to Americans and they're so bad at doing their job and charging old way more than they should have I'm so upset with their service I will never go to them again never.

  13. Saw These Guys - Were Great!

    I had opportunity to see them in action! Was visiting a friend and helping them move. I have moved myself on three occasions; and I can say they were better than the ones I had hired in the past at home! Very professional and took care of everything perfectly. I know my friend was also impressed and would recommend to others. I am not moving again for a while.. just moved last October.. but if I do again I can only hope to get somebody this good. I am guessing on cost as I did not pay the bill - but have an idea.

    I hate to move!! I'm so Thankful for Metropolitan Movers literally taking all the stress out of this process for me! No doubt I will be recommending them to anyone I know that is moving!
