  1. Local Move Horrible Service Scam!! Moving People Beware.

For one Cam came out to our business and gave us a walk through. I was a bit concerned but he assured me he understood the importance of the move and it had to go seamlessly!

Was to move on a Thursday, called on a Monday to confirm the move and was assured we would get a call later in the week with the time they were expected to arrive. That did not happen by Wed so we called again on Wed and was told that I would get a call that day with time. They did call back and said it would be between t10-10:30 am.

Waited at the location for an hour after time. Called back and the lady said she would have Cam Give me a call another 2 hours goes by and nothing I called several more times. Cam did call and said he was doing the best he could and that was it .. and by early after noon they would be there to move us. waited till 2:30 and started calling again.. at one point I felt as though they were ignoring my calls and used a friends cell and low and behold they answered and gave a ton of excuses .. Finally with the cell number being on the business card I started texting Cam . Again with the excuses and things and said I just need an honest answers several times . and still did not get it .. he then texted me well after 3pm and said they would not be coming !! what a terrible way to be!! and they would not move us at all!! REALLY!!??!!??!?!? so STAY AWAY .. SCAM !!

  2. AVOID - Significant Damage to Property.

Silverback Moving did well over $10,000 in damage to our property, and has not responded to our claim of damages; screening phone calls and ignoring emails for 30+ days.

Schea Van Lines managed our move from Columbus to Cleveland; however, Silverback Moving showed up to execute the move. During the move, the staff ran out of shrink wrap, and could only cover our furniture with blankets. They promised to fully wrap everything when it went into storage. This did not happen. Upon arrival to our new home, pieces came off the truck unwrapped, chipped, broken and damaged beyond repair.

The boxes packed in the truck were dropped and handled in a less than professional manner; based on the significant dents, collapses and tears in the cardboard. This is beyond the damage consistent with normal handling. Upon opening the boxes, the damage to our property continued.

The added pleasure has been the discovery of multiple cockroaches in our belongings.

The worst personal violation was finding that our property had been rummaged through. We found items from latched bins scattered about the truck, purses and personal property turned inside out and searched and jewelry boxes had been ripped apart. The appearance of the truck, and the treatment of our property is nothing short of negligence.

Since our move, we have filed a claim for damages with Silverback Moving, and the owner Cam Schea. To date, we have had no response from the company in any form. They have screened our calls and emails go unanswered. I have escalated this case with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio and will pursue legal action if necessary.

  3. Moving.

Thank you Schea moving & Storage for being a lifesaver and assisting me at the last minute with my move. The crew was awesome. They did a great job!! Very customer friendly which made me feel comfortable and allowed me to trust them with handling my belongings.
Way to go to the fantastic guys who took time away from their families on Father's Day to make sure my move went well.
I will definitely recommend Schea moving & storage to all my family and friends you guys ROCK!!

  4. Holland to Royal Oak.

Schea Van Lines has served my family several times throughout the years. Recently we phoned them to relocate my two bedroom townhouse from Holland to Royal Oak. It was a long distance move so I received a flat binding price for the move which was nice.

Although they were coming from the opposite side of the state to take me back to Southeast Michigan, I requested they arrive at 9 am the day of the move so we could knock the move out in one day. I'm very busy with work and school, a two day move was not realistic for me.

Sure enough the morning of the move date, I had two kind gentlemen waiting outside my home at 8:45 am. 15 minutes prior to the scheduled time. I invited them in to begin working for the day. Apparently they were on the road by 5 am leaving their home base. Very impressive.

My furniture isn't the best, but I still bought all pieces, so I'm glad they took care of my furnishings. After all was protected, they loaded the truck correctly. I was concerned it would not all fit in the truck and I would have to decide which pieces we were going to leave behind in Holland. The men were exceptional at what they did and made certain all fit. They used their "puzzle skills" as they said. This tight packing also kept the furniture protected while we made the three hour journey across the state.

After arriving at the new condo in Royal Oak, all was unloaded within about two hours. I ordered the men pizza for dinner and they were on their way. I've been raving since about the good service I had received and I will certainly recommend to others.

  5. Schea Van Lines.

I was very pleased with their attention to detail and overall helpfulness. Called Schea Van Lines to attend to a quick relocation we needed from Grove City to West Jefferson. It was only a two bedroom apartment going to storage, but Schea Van Lines made it quick and painless. The men came properly prepared and ready to move. The last move I had done on my own, but after acquiring more furniture and a 5x10 storage unit, I decided this time I would phone for help. Schea Van Lines got the entire job done in 5 hours. Total expense was just over $600. It was well worth the back aches and the two days it would have taken my family to do on our own. Grateful and happy.

  6. Schea Van Lines Moving and Storage.

We were very satisfied with the quality of service we had received from Schea Van Lines. They were prompt, efficient, and more than professional throughout the move. An estimator was sent out to our home the day after our initial call. The gentleman gave great advice on how to make our move smooth and a one day relocation. These helpful hints served us well on the actual moving day.

After the estimator left, we received a quick follow up call and quote by email. I liked that everything was in writing and that there were to be no surprises with billing. Often contractors and service companies add hidden fees. With Schea Van Lines there were none.

The day of the move, the guys were fast and polite. They treated my wife and children with respect and our furniture with care. I was very grateful for the team of men I had received.

At the end of the day I called a pizza in for the guys as they assembled the last bit of our home. The men from Schea Van Lines were just as attentive as the gal in the office I had spoke with. Great thanks!

  7. Very shady.

My advice would be not to use Schea Van Lines/Silverback Moving. They will ruin all of your belongings and when you try to call them to get back the money owed for damaging your items, they will never call you back. Just a terrible, terrible company through and through. If you like months of unwanted stress and look forward to questioning if there are any decent people left in this world you might want to hire these guys, I guess.

  8. Beware of This Company - Beware.

Schea Van Lines made me feel very comfortable when I called them for my move. They showed up on time and were very polite. They got started and things were going well. Then it took a major turn for the worse. The guys that were moving my furniture started to become careless with my belongings. I heard this loud banging. I went over to the stairwell to see what all the noise was to discover them slamming my beautiful, expensive dresser down the steps. They were not lifting it down the stairs they were pushing it down the stairs (hence, the noise). I asked what they were doing and why they were moving it that way and they just looked at me. I told them that was unacceptable. I contacted the dispatcher and made her aware of my dissatisfaction. At another point during my move noticed that they had turned my file cabinet upside down. I asked the guy if he knew what that piece of furniture was and what was inside of it. I explained that it was a file cabinet full of files (paper) and that now it would be all over the place because he turned the piece upside down. Again, a blank stare. Another time during the move I looked out the window to see that same file cabinet roll off the ramp of truck. UGH! I was extremely frustrated as I have (had) very nice furniture and they were not handling with care at all. Well they got the truck loaded and we were on our way to my new condo. As they unloaded I was very unhappy to see multiple pieces of my furniture damaged. I was taking pictures and sending them to the dispatcher as they were placing them in the proper place in my new condo. They finished unloading the truck and we had one more quick trip to make to a storage unit for a few more items. As they were backing up the truck, I began honking my horn and waving my hands as they were about to hit my parents car. They did not hear me. They hit my parents parked car with the moving truck. It has been 5 weeks now and I still cannot get the owner, Jim, to call my parents with his insurance information. They had to file a police report. He will not cooperate. I have also been battling it out with him on my damaged furniture. All I want is for him to send a company over to my home to make repairs to my furniture that his company damaged. He will not answer his phone and he will not respond to text messages. He has given me the runaround and accused me of being a fraud. I am not sure where he is getting his information. I paid my bill in full. I also paid for the insurance thru his company to protect my items. This means that if he damages my property his company is responsible to repair it or to pay $.60 per pound if it cannot be repaired. I just want him to stand up to HIS policy. The pictures I attached are just two of about 48. He is a shady man running a shady company. BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE!!

  9. Schea Van Lines.

Phoned Schea Van Lines to handle a local relocation of a four bedroom to a three bedroom and a stop at storage. The men were great. All were uniformed and properly equipped.

The furniture itself was more than protected, actually too protected if you ask me, but it's better than the alternative. The stop at storage was quick and the unit was packed properly. At the new address all was left properly assembled and ready to make our new home.

My overall experience was very positive and I will use again when I a in need of service for family. The final price was not bad neither. Thanks!

  10. Schea's Great Service.

We just moved from the suburbs to an apartment in Detroit and Schea handled the move for us. Chris and Manny were very professional and courteous. They got right to work and even stopped before going up the carpeted stairs to ask if they should put booties on! They were quick and no nonsense! Everything taken care of within the estimated time frame and cost. I'd recommend Schea anytime to anyone!

  11. Schea Van Lines 5 Stars.

My experience with Schea Van Lines was great. Staff showed up on time and took care of my home as if it were their own! I would highly recommend!

  12. Schea Van Lines.

Schea Van Lines stored a number of home furnishings my husband I collected over the years. We decided they would not fit in the temporary apartment nor did we need until our new construction was complete. All in all I was very impressed. We had stressed the importance of the pieces to our estimator. We've spent a life time collecting antique furniture and take a lot of pride in restoring the pieces. Obviously we would have been devastated had something were to happen to them during the moving and storage process.

They came out to the home and put thick covering over all wood pieces. This prevented any type of damage or marking to occur while they were handling or while they were in storage. My understanding is this covering stayed on the pieces until they moved into our new build. This was apparent because all came out great.

Additionally, they relocated our old home to a temporary apartment and then to the new build. All was done in a fair amount of time and the final price was better than that of a national company. I believe the quality of service also was superior to that of a national company. The fact that it was family owned was apparent and throughout.

All in all, our final cost was $2,350 for moving services and about $245 per month for storage. I would use them again. Fortunately we are not moving again anytime soon.

  13. Schea / Silverback Moving.

I can't believe anyone would use this company. Classic low ball estimates to get the job then wham the real cost hits you. My estimate was 2800, actual was 3641. Seriously ? Do not use this company. I got estimates from 3 different movers. Of course Schea was the best, estimate that is. Now I know why.

  14. Schea Van Lines.

Since being relocated to Columbus six years ago my family has had the pleasure of moving three times. The most recent move, being our third, we hired Schea after a neighbor had a positive experience with them. Glad we did. They came out to home, did a full evaluation as to what was going. Then sent out an estimate later that day. The pricing was competitive, but I could already tell from the initial estimate that they were more professional then other companies I had worked with in the past.

The men that came out to move us were quick and helpful. They spent a great amount of effort protecting our furniture and packing the truck in such a way all pieces would be delivered safely. This was far better than previous experiences where amature movers would just throw everything into the truck.

At the new address everything was placed where we had asked and all was assembled properly. Incredibally happy with the end result. Schea Van Lines gave us the best move yet, and we understand the attributes of good movers.

  15. Great Work!

We had an excellent move using Schea Van Lines over the weekend. My wife and I have been in a three-bedroom home in Hilliard for about six years now. Considering we've collected significantly more furniture since we initially moved in, we decided to have an in-home estimate done to be certain that we had a firm price from a professional company. Schea Van Lines sent out a gentleman from the office who took a very thorough list of what we had going. Later that day we received a call from the office giving us a complete estimate as to how much it would cost and asked and how long it would take. The day of moving, a staff of four men came out and properly prepped the home for service throughout. All pieces were moved to the new address safely and done so in a timely fashion. I was very impressed with the work of Schea Van Lines and the special attention to detail they gave.
