  1. Sky moving and storage are criminals! Do not use!

Sky moving & storage are professional rip-off artists. I cannot believe what happened to me, so please read carefully and avoid this company. I initially contacted them because the facility was very close to my address in Florida. I called and obtained a quote over the phone. I listed all inventory items and estimated the number of boxes which would be filled in the packing process, as I needed packing as well. I obtained a quote of $1750 for the door to door service including packing, all supplies needed for packing, elevator fee (I lived in a high rise condo), everything! I was slightly surprised at the low price but was very thorough with the inventory list. On the day of the move, the men arrived on time and took a look at my things. He started doing some calculations on a contract and, when finished, claimed that I had more items than indicated in the quote and that the price would go up. He also began to add things like the "Long walk" to the elevator which was about 50 feet from my door. I was getting nervous and began feeling uneasy, but I allowed him to finish. When he was done, his calculation showed $2150, which was $400 more than the original quote. He went on to explain that this is a binding contract and regardless of future circumstances if I signed, he could not exceed this price. In my head, this number sounded more like what I originally expected, so I signed. The move then proceeded to start working, leaving the signed paperwork in the kitchen. They were friendly throughout the day, although the one who did the paperwork was constantly on the phone and not working nearly as hard as the other, resulting in 6.5 hours to pack the truck on a 1000 sq ft one bedroom condo (kind of long). As they were finishing the last couple of trips down the elevator, the mover said he just needed me to sign the final paperwork and they would be done. Well, guess what? Sometime during the day, he added a line item for "Packing supplies" on the paperwork and hand wrote a 6 over the 1, resulting in a $500 difference in the so-called "Binding" contract. The guy altered the document with my signature- fraud!! So, of course, I contested this paperwork, and his excuse was that he made a "Calculation error". I said no way, and called his company and got David, the so-called owner on the phone. This guy started to back the move up saying it was a simple calculation error. I was irate at this point exclaiming that I signed for $2150 and that's what I would be paying, not $2650. Well, the "Owner" David flat out told me that he would have the movers unload all of my belongings in the street! It was raining and I had a flight back to nm early the next morning, not to mention my lease was up that day. So I was basically extorted for $500 in a fraudulent scam. I had no choice, pay the money or be stuck on the street, in the rain, with my belongings on the ground!! I have never experienced anything like this and hope to never experience it again. I am in the hospitality industry and have moved a lot, and never thought something like this would happen. Do yourself a favor and do not affiliate yourself with this company. They are criminals!

  2. Rip off, absolute crooks!!

Do not use this company, they are a rip off, hidden charges, boxes and new fuel charges due to what they say is more cubic feet than estimated. As soon as we asked to cancel the contract they took the deposit from the credit card (we have since cancelled). They refused to download our household goods from the truck telling my wife it was illegal and we had a contract. They raised the cost from 2325.00 to over 4600 dollars in 4 hours. I am in Afghanistan serving my country and will come home to an empty apartment in Tennessee.

  3. Negative Stars, Worst Moving Company Ever!!

DO NOT HIRE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE!!
    TAKE YOUR MONEY AND RUN!
27 DAYS AND HAVE STILL NOT SEEN OUR STUFF!

Sky Moving and Storage will cheat, lie, and steal from you. Don't be fooled by the receptionists. They will make you think that this company truly cares about you, when in fact all it cares about it taking forever to deliver your stuff and charging you for things you won't even understand. They give you an estimate and tell you that this is binding and won't change when they come to pick your stuff up. THIS IS A LIE. They basically ended up charging us TWICE as much, and charging us for things that they said they wouldn't if we didn't want (mattress covers, bubble wrap). I figured that I'd to hire them because the estimate was just too good to pass up. I WOULD HAVE PAID DOUBLE TO GET MY STUFF ON TIME. AND SO MUCH WAS BROKEN.

They played it real cool when they came to pick up our stuff and said that they would take it to their free storage until we got an address ready for them to deliver to. They picked up our stuff on JULY 29th. I called August 1st to tell them our new address and set up a shipping date. THEY DON'T CALL BACK, first off, so don't bother leaving a voicemail. They told me multiple times that a truck was coming at the end of the week and would pick up our stuff to move it. 3 WEEKS LATER! ITS AUGUST 24th!!

So here I am, at my new house WITH NO STUFF. IT'S BEEN 27 DAYS SINCE SKY MOVING AND STORAGE PICKED OUR STUFF UP! 27 DAYS I HAVE HAD NOTHING!

I am absolutely disgusted by everything that this company stands for. They have no respect or even care for their customers who put faith in them that they can get the job done. The worst part about this moving company is that I depended on them, and once they have your stuff, there is absolutely NOTHING you can do to get your stuff. They will take as long as they like because they already have half your money, and know that they will get the other half.

Our stuff finally gets delivered and at least 10 things are broken (including valuables bought in foreign countries and heirlooms). I called them and they said I'd have to file a claim through a third party and WOULD ONLY GET 60 CENTS PER POUND!! PLUS YOU HAVE NO CLAIM IF YOU PACKED YOUR OWN STUFF!! Boxes had holes in them, tape removed, furniture scratched. THE BOXES LOOKED LIKE THEY KICKED THEM DOWN THE HIGHWAY FROM FLORIDA TO CALIFORNIA.

I'VE NEVER BEEN SO DISGUSTED WITH A COMPANY IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN FROM THIS COMPANY!

  4. Worst company ever.

This is the worst, most dishonest, unprofessional company I have ever worked with. They lied, some of my stuff was destroyed, I am missing many things, and they didn't even take everything from my old house. They just left it behind. Had I not gone back after they left, I would never have known it. I was quoted one price and was charged twice that and was told if I didn't pay they would throw my stuff in the dump. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE COMPANY.

  5. Sky moving and storage.

They did not clearly explain prices and then demanded more money or wouldn't unload truck. The actual movers were good, but the boss told them to work slower because it was an hourly rate. They showed up in the morning two and a half hours late and their truck was filled with junk already that they had to clean out before they could start and they included that in the time that I was paying for. They told me The day of the move that they could not pack mirrors unless I paid extra. They would cover mattresses only if I paid extra. They were out to get extra money any way they could. Do not use this company!

  6. Worst moving company ever!!

Run as far as you can from this company! I'm in the process of filing a claim and will go through law suit to get our stolen money back!!
the whole experience was a nightmare! they contracted another company (Cross State moving)to pick up and a third party to deliver. the original estimate was for 1400 and we ended up paying 3000 although we were in the exact weight range!.
there was additional $330 deposit that they claimed is for deposit and wasn't deducted from the invoice! we ended up paying it twice and cross state assured us that skymoving will refund it and sky moving told us they have nothing to do with this! they were extremely unprofessional.. throwing blames on others.. and rude!! and did not show any willingness to cooperate! they said this is not our problem!! we just contracted the other companies and you follow your money!!
In addition, every possible thing that could be broken arrived broken!! even the dryer! they made us to pay in advance before we see our stuff! they broke simply everything and worst of all they refused to re assemble our kids beds!! although they assured us from the beginning they will do so. The man who arrived at delivery Alex was extremely rude and in a terrible mood and simply said I don't know and I will not do it after he took the money!

  7. Worst Move Ever.

I'll just cut and paste the email I sent to sky moving, that has still yet to respond. Nothing from Natalie and nothing from upper management - they actually hung up on us when we tried to call because we had not got a response: do not use, ever!!

    Here's the email:

    Natalie:

I just wanted to let you know this was the worst moving company I have ever worked with. I am in the hotel industry and a general manager of a hotel here in Sarasota. I have been in the industry for over 21 years - customer service is what I live and breathe every day of my life.

I have relocated over ten times in the last 20 years, I have experienced all sorts of moves, from driving my own u-haul, to being packed and shipped to just hiring movers.

Our experience with your company was the worst I have ever encountered. What happened?

    1) I never got a call from anyone on Friday to confirm my move date.
    2) I left a voicemail Saturday morning, the day of the move, at 8:30 am - no - one called me back.
    3) I called again later that morning and got someone who didn't speak very good English and was not polite at all - said she didn't have us down until after 2:00 pm. I told her I scheduled it for 1:00 pm. Every box, all the clothes and food we had already moved to the new house. All I had was the furniture - we even moved some of the larger furniture downstairs, so they wouldn't have to and we could start cleaning the carpets upstairs. Literally, all they had to move from upstairs was two beds, one chair, and two dressers.

So 2:00 o'clock rolls past and still have not received a phone call from anyone - so I call again. I believe his name was Michael that I spoke with, answers the phone and says, let me give them a call - he comes back and says that they are "Stuck in ft. Meyers at their last job" it's going to be at least a couple of hours. By this point, I am extremely irritated because my neighbors one building down had gone to pick up their u-haul, loaded it and were gone and I still didn't have the company that I paid good money to have no-one at my house yet. Michael was very rude - I explained my frustrations and all he had to say was "We don't expect you to sit around and twiddle your thumbs, it's your moving day and I am sure you have a lot to do". I was already done and planned that time so we could get to the new house and come back to the old one and finish cleaning. So he proceeds to tell me that they will call when it's thirty minutes out. So now we have six people standing around, so we decide to start taking more loads over to the new house. 3:30 rolls past, again I get no phone call. So I call the 800 number again - Michael says, let me call them and see where they are - he comes back and says, they are just approaching the exit, it will be about 20 minutes. I said really, 20 minutes because if they are approaching our exit, it should be five minutes. I ask at that time to speak to a manager and he says he is - that of course, he has a supervisor, but they are not there and that I should call next week.

So they finally arrive at 4:13 pm - Allen (the lead mover) gives me attitude right away upon arrival. He marks it down that he was there at 4:00 pm. Says he brought a third guy and he'll only charge me $10.00 per hour extra so it goes faster. I told him no, I don't need it, this job is going to take nothing more than 2 hours. He says to me "What do you want me just to sit around and watch them?" I said, I don't care what you do - I am not paying extra.". He said, "Fine, then I'll waive the fee". He didn't do anything anyway.

He proceeds to tell me he's not going to be able to put blankets on everything because it will take too long and if I want to keep it at the 3 hours, it can't be done. They loaded in less then 45 minutes, we drove 9 miles to the new location and they were done in less than 45 minutes again. He marked on the paper that he was there until 7:00, but they were gone by 6:05 pm - he said that's what he puts because it's a minimum of three hours. He totally would have had time to wrap the furniture in blankets how it should have been wrapped. Load time, drive time and unload time was from 4:13 to 6:05 total!!

The part about having to pay in cash seemed shady to me. The whole experience honestly seemed like a scam.

The first piece of furniture that they carried out was a coffee table that lifts up and instead of asking how it locked, one the guys just slammed it down and bent the locking mechanism. Allen went over and bent it back and said, there, now it's not broken. They would set the furniture on the parking lot and honestly, it seemed as though the two movers that were moving the furniture had no idea how to do it, they struggled with the dollie and were ver clumsy.

The follow-up, the movers, the people on the phone and the professionalism was the worst I have ever seen. I will tell everyone that this company should never be considered ever for a moving company. In addition, I will look for outlets on the internet to post my horrible experience, unless you are willing to address these issues and do something about the experience..

  8. Horrible company from top to bottom.

The company was two days late. I had to move my walk out inspection back and leave my utilities on longer because the movers were late. Sky moving told me that the movers were running behind. How unprofessional for a company to miss an appointment. Sky moving didn't even contact me to tell me that the movers were going to be late. On top of that the operator was rude and loud with me. Was moving experience ever. Stay away from this company.

  9. The worst move of my Life and still waiting for my things..

    06-02-11

    To whom it may Concern;

My name is H. Davie. I have recently relocated to Dunedin, Fl From Atlanta, Ga. I had contacted a moving company by the name of Sky Movers information:
    Reference No:W258674
    US DOT: 1577176
    MC: 584006
    Registration #: IM1446 MR-538
    MC: 621542-B
My pick up was scheduled for Wed. May 25th, 2011 between the hours of 9am-11am. The night before after receiving my finalized estimate of 3300lbs, I asked my customer service rep Natalie if I need to do anything to my items. She told me to make sure that my frames was wrapped in bubble wrap and that the movers would take care of the 2 flat screen and my glass coffee table. I had a cleaning crew scheduled to come do a move-out cleaning between the hours of 4-5 pm. Unfortunately, The moving company (Cross State Moving) did not come to pick up my items until 9pm wed night. Once they arrived, they informed me that I needed to sign the estimate (which was incorrect) and forms that was not filled out in order for them to start loading my items. I informed them that we needed to contact the company because of this and the man told me that he could not because they were closed. I then tried to contact Sky-movers my self but I was transferred and than hung up on. I attempted 5 more times to call but continuously got the voice mail after this point. I informed the guy that I would not be able to sign but he told me if I did not they would leave and not pick up my items. I proceeded to sign some of the forms with comments (in which I have pictures of) because I had to vacate the premises as well as leave to get to Florida at 4am to make my scheduled job interviews. The movers did not leave my home until 3am Thursday morning, mind you I feed them and made sure they were ok. They left items behind that was supposed to be packed and they left without my knowledge of them leaving. On Thursday afternoon, I received a phone call from Israel Barda, from cross state moving informing me that my items had been weighted and had came out to 3400 over the estimated weight which equaled a total of 6700 lbs. They said that my balance was now $5100.00. I told him that this was not possible and that I would return his call once I was stable. To make along story short, it has been over a week since my items have been picked up. As of yesterday 5-01-11, Cross state moving stated that I owed them the amount given above and I informed them that they would be contacted by my attorney and that I would also be contacted the DOT and Consumer reporting. As of today, the owner Dave from sky Moving and Israel from Cross State Moving informed me that they re-weight my items and the current weight is 3920 lbs. I stated to them both that I am willing to pay $1,115 total (balanced owed as well as an additional $75 for the steps ) the $231.00 deposit that was already paid. Dave of Sky mover informed me that if I did not pay him the $ 2268.30 which is my new charges he will not deliver my items. I then informed that he would be hearing from my attorney.

    Just for additional information:
I have photos of all my items that were packed and picked up, the documents presented to me as well as the documents I was giving a copy of and ones that I was not. I have live recorded conversations (movers where informed that they were being recorded) of the night of pickup as well as recorded phone conversations. I also have a copy of all three estimates sent by Sky Movers to myself.

  10. Dishonest - do not use.

My experience was like many of the others who had a bad experience, in fact I find it hard to believe those reviews who rate the company as excellent.

Everything about the experience was bad. They arrived 6 hrs late, told me the price I was quoted was wrong and that it would cost be twice as much, they would not let me talk to a supervisor, laughed when I gave them a coupon and basically demanded a tip. They made me feel so uncomforable that I gave them a tip because I was afraid of what they may do if I did not.

They left furniture behind and damaged many pieces of my furniture.

Despite repeated attempts to claim compensation they refused to abide by thier own rules, and kept changing the rules everytime I complied with their requests.

I hope these reviews avoid other movers going through what I and many others have gone through with this company.

  11. Thank you Sky Moving & Storage for making our moving that much easier.

I can't say enough great things about Sky Moving & Storage! I saw some reviews that weren't the best and I too myself had a horrible experience with another mover that damaged my very expensive furniture. I filed a claim and found out they gave me a false address. So I did some research, the group that I requested did an AMAZING job! They had their work cut out for them as well!
I moved from a 3300 square foot home, to a 1800 sq ft home that had THREE levels and a delicate floating stair case (NOT A SCRATCH FROM JAY MOVERS), then the rest of it went to storage! Again they did such a great job! I can't believe the things they lifted. So professional as well! They all shook my hand while introducing all of them to me!
I'm a PICKY person and they over exceeded my expectations!
I couldn't have asked for a better experience!
    Thanks Sky Moving & Storage!
I know my next move will be with you!

  12. Dishonest.

Advised that 2 men and 5 hours were plenty for a 4 bedroom home. I requested 4 men and was given 6 hours for a 12 mile move. They again stated that based on their experience, 2 men and 5 hours was plenty for this size home and short distance for delivery. I was told however that since four men was more than needed I would have to pay for 6 hours even if they finished early. I said that was fine.
I signed up for and supplied a deposit for 4 men and 6 hours.
Was expecting them to arrive in early a.m. of pickup and delivery day. Instead was told they would arrive between 11:00 and 2:00. I told them I wasn't told about this ahead of time. I had people lined up to direct and unpack boxes as they came in.
At 11:00 on the day of pickup arrived, I called and asked when the driver would notify me of expected arrival. Natalie the sales rep said they would arrive around 12:00. I waited at the storage unit till 1:00 and called again. Spoke to the dispatcher Kim. She stated that they would be here by 2:00. At 2:00 I called again, Kim said they had a tire blow out and would be here in 10 minutes. At 2:30 I called again and spoke to Kim. She said they would be there any minute. They arrived at 3:00. I waited three hours at my storage unit, waiting for them to show up! Upon arrival they said I needed to sign a contract. During this process, the main driver stated I only made a deposit of $150.00 when I had actually paid $350.00. He called and verified I had indeed paid $350.00. I then noticed that the fourth man wasn't any where to be seen. When questioned about this they said the fourth man couldn't make it. I asked, will I receive a refund for the fourth man? He said I had to speak with the dispatcher.
I called the dispatcher who stated that I was UNDER quoted and because of this I would not be receiving a refund. I was also told that the fourth man wouldn't have made any difference in the loading and unloading time. I told them this was unacceptable and to speak with a supervisor. Of course no supervisor was available and have yet (2 days later) to hear back from them. They spent 4 of the 6 hours loading the truck.
Then upon arrival at the delivery address, the main driver informs me that he needs his balance of the contract BEFORE he will unload the truck. He also stated that WHEN they go over the the alloted 6 hours I would have to pay additional for every hour they were there. I told him I had a contract and paid for 6 hours and that was all I was going to pay. Due to poor time management on their part they now had slightly less than two hours to unload the truck. I was told by the driver in charge that if at the end of the two hours, if they were not finished and I hadn't paid them more money, he would leave with with the balance of my furnishings.
I told him I had paid all I was going to pay and I would not go along with the extortion. I suggested they finish in 2 hours or there would be problems. They emptied the truck (though Im still missing some wood working tools) in 2 hours - BY LEAVING THE BULK OF MY FURNISHINGS IN THE DRIVEWAY! Not to mention the damage to my NEW homes walls and hard wood floors. They left and we then had to find friends at 10:00 o'clock on a Thursday night to help bring in the furnishings.
DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, USE THIS COMPANY. IN HIND SIGHT I FEEL LIKE IT WAS A SCAM FROM THE BEGINNING.

  13. Dishonest - Do not use.

Company did not call they day prior to moving to confirm arrival time - I had to call them. Was told that they would be at my house at 09:00. The driver called me the day of moving at 10:00 to say that they were in Orlando and would not be at my house until 14:00 - I was asked was I cool with that. I was asked by the driver how much they quoted me, when I told him, he told me that it was going cost more, a lot more!
When they finally arrived, the first thing I was told was that it was going to cost me twice as much as quoted.
When I told them I had a coupon I was told "you honestly think they are going to let you use that"
I paid for three movers, one of them turned up an hour after the other two arrived.
Because this company insists on you paying them cash on the day of moving, I told the movers I would have to go to the ATM as now I was going to have to pay more than I had previously thought.
They followed me to the ATM, as I was at the ATM removing cash, the lead person got out of the truck and told me that they were expecting a tip! (I felt intimidated and threatend)
Once at my new home, I noticed that they had let several items behind, most of my furniture was scratched and the corner of my computer desk was completely chipped off.
I reported them to the BBB - they denied everything. I filed a claim with their claim company - they refused to pay.
What ever you do - do not use this company.

  14. They will cheat you out of every dime they can!

Sky Moving and Storage will quote you a wonderfully low rate, promising no hidden fees and no extra charges. When they arrive (which for me was 6 hours late). They will add on fees for everything imaginable, including packing tape that they use to wrap around your furniture pads. They charged me for stairs despite the contract saying no charge for the first set. They added on about $600 worth of fees that were not disclosed previously. They illegally charge extra based on the laws that protect consumers from moving companies. A company can charge a flat rate based on estimated weight with no extra fees or can charge a variable rate based on actual weight plus fees. They will charge a high flat rate, plus fees. They also damaged my furniture, were told to pay me for the damages and now refuse to do so. They will not respond to my emails, and the last time I called them, they hung up on me. In all, I lost over $800 due to their scams, plus a whole lot of stress and sleepless nights from worrying.

  15. Sky Movers Takes NO RESPONSIBILITY.

On pick up of my furnature in Nashville Tn. all was good .. movers were professional and effiencent . . but when it was time to deliver my furnature to my new home in Arizona, before they even got into the state they were calling me and telling me they couldn't get ot my house .. I would have to rent a secondary truck and pay for it and do the unloading myself .. once that was resolved (all my work) They finally showed up with homeless people they had hired for 20 dollar for the day . . dropped my mattress in the dirt and left it there until I went and picked it up ..broke bookshelves and rollers on furnature and when I reported this they took NO RESPONSIBILIT"Y . . I talked with David and gave him a Fair price to replace the really bad things . . he said OK and I never heard from them again .. anyone can come across honest to get the job .. it's when something goes wrong . . do they take responsibility .. this company won't .. DO NOT USE THEM .. Ray Pitts.
