  1. Its Really a smart choicce.

Smart Choice helped me move from San Diego,CA to Fresno,CA and I am extremely satisfied with the service and the moving process. Everything about the process was smooth and the movers were extremely courteous. This was the best moving experience I've had so far and wanted to take time out to express my gratitude.

  2. Smart van lines vs Franklin Van Lines.

The service from Smart van lines-Dave and his sons were great. They worked hard, very respectful and tried to fix what Franklin Van Lines broke. I would recommend them to anyone. Franklin van lines overcharged us by 2000 cu ft. Which in turned cost us about $4000 more than the quote. So don't trust Franklin Van Lines.

  3. Completely Incompetent and Unresponsive.

I had hired Smart Choice Van Lines for my move from NY to SC and they contracted a local moving company, I guess which they represent called MOVING AMERICA based out of Miami FL.  When the movers showed up on the morning to pickup my things, one of the movers barely spoke English and the other one kept yelling at me.  They arrived in a plain white truck and I asked them if they were from Smart Choice Van Lines.  They said they were from Moving America but did pull up on their phone my moving estimate with all of my details. I didn't know anything about this company and handing over $1000 to someone when I'm not sure if my things will actually arrive at the destination made me very nervous.  They were very careless with my boxes and all of my furniture.  During the move, the driver informed me my things would actually arrive the next day in SC, when I had confirmed with Smart Choice Van Lines that they were to arrive in 3-4 days from the pickup.  I wasn't going to be in SC until 3 days after the pickup date so during the move in the middle of the mover yelling at me, I had to call Smart Choice Van Lines to find out why my move was going to be delivered the next day since it was a piggyback move and I was told when I reserved that it would take a minimum of three days to deliver. To their credit it did seem like they had stacked things in the truck in a somewhat organized way, but it was a very stressful day with the additional communication problems on top of the already stressful move.  I had arranged for my parents to be at the moving destination the following day so that I can get my stuff back and call it a day with this company. The next morning I received a phone call from the MOVING AMERICA office which should have been telling me my driver was 5 minutes from the destination and instead I was informed that after my stuff was put on the truck that the driver got in a huge argument with SMART CHOICE VAN LINES who told him they needed to take my things off of the truck and put it in storage.  To their credit, I didn't pay for the storage.  However, no one contacted me about taking my things off of the truck especially since everything was settled once the move pickup was complete and it was confirmed and arranged that my stuff would be in SC the following day.  So, three days went by.  In that time, SMART CHOICE VAN LINES would not return my calls about the rift that they caused now and the lack of accountability.  The person at MOVING AMERICA did return my call me the new morning that the truck was supposed to arrive that the truck broke down and they had to send a new truck to complete the delivery.  Each morning, I had to call the MOVING AMERICA people to find out now where the new moving truck is so I know when my things are supposed to arrive.  I kept getting the runaround as they didn't have an estimated date of arrival and my frustration went through the roof as my things should have only been moved on and off a truck twice -- once for pickup and once for delivery.  Because of this lack of accountabilty and dumbfounded miscommunication, my things had been moved FIVE TIMES!!  Once for the pickup, once for storage, once for out of storage and back in truck, once for out of truck and into new truck and once for delivery.   As a result, there was an increased amount of damage to my things because of all of the manhandling.  My items finally arrived 10 days after the original pickup in New York.  When they arrived and the movers opened the back of the truck, boxes were everywhere.  It looked like something blew up in there.  Don't get me wrong.  I fully understand and expect there to be some wear and tear on the boxes as that happens with moves.  The majority of mine were crushed and as I checked boxes off my manifest, there were missing items which the driver had to hunt and search through misc. trash to actually locate.  Otherwise, I wouldn't have gotten everything. As it turns out, I didn't get everything.  I have two boxes that somehow went missing, a large picture where the glass on the frame had shattered and dented the picture, books that had some of the spines crushed in because the boxes were dismantled and several additional framed paintings in which the frames had broken. This was not a big move, but somehow between the unresponsive SMART CHOICE VANLINES and the incompetent MOVING AMERICA my move was made into a massive cluster mess.  Never ever ever ever again will I use either of these companies.

  4. Not sure if this is a real company.

I doubt if this is a real company. We paid almost 400 dollars advance and booked them. They did not show up on the estimated date and stopped answering calls couple of days before the day of pick up. About 2 days after the scheduled date the Co-ordinators Ms Kelly, Mr Walter called and and acted surprised that no one had come to pick our stuff. They then offered to pick up our stuff 4 days later. Since we were out of time we had to book a different company for double that price.
This company offered to pay back the 400 dollars that they owed us. It's been almost 3 months. No response from them to our emails or phone calls. I think this is probably a bogus company.

  5. Horrible treatment!

I can't express how disgusted I am with this company! In looking for a company to go with I sent out an internet query.  Smart choice was one that contacted me along with others. I decided, after careful research, to go with another company.  When "Kelly" called me today I told her so. She began telling me that I didn't realize what I was doing, that I needed to give her all the info about the other company & what they were going to do.  She also said that they would do a better job. When I told her I didn't have the time to go into all that she started talking so vociferously & rapidly that I couldn't get a word in edgewise & felt attacked. I said I wasn't going to do this (listen to her criticize me on the phone) & hung up.   Almost immediately I got the following email from 'the operations manager' Walter Alvarez.  Anyone contemplating going with this company needs to know how adversarial they are. Read on: H Wednesday, 09/02/2015 You just don't even care about your household goods do you? Kelly was just trying to get you information to help protect yourself from an unreputable mover but you could care less. You were even rude enough to hang up on her when she was just trying to help! You will get what you deserve when that other company that gave you a low ball price arrives at your home and raises the price of your move by at least $1000 just because you did not want to listen to Kelly. The people like you complain about the movers even after someone tries to help yo. Good luck to you as you will need it! You will remember this email when the other movers try to take advantage of you. 6. Do Not Use These Movers.

    DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS!

They did not provide an ETA for delivery until the day before.

The driver tried to charge me a long carry fee of $215. He claimed he couldn't make the turn to get to my apartment, but the leasing agents showed him how to go through the property and he refused to try.

After I refused to pay the fee, they unloaded all of my furniture in front of the leasing office, and left it there.

The driver caused a scene on the property forcing the community manager to call the police, then we he tried to leave he ran into the gate.

When I called customer service to complain I was cursed out by the operation manager.

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE NOT REPUTABLE.

  7. I will never use another moving company!

I needed to move my stuff from my 2 bedroom apartment to my new place. I was originally going to rent a truck and a few random guys for a few hours, but found that Smart choice van lines was comparably priced and a heck of a lot easier. The foreman and his crew worked super quickly and efficiently. They wrapped my furniture up and put padding on the door frames so nothing would get banged up. The whole packing took about 2 hours. I am super happy I went with this company, they made moving as painless and affordable as possible.

  8. Terrible.

What a nightmare! I am a very relaxed and forgiving person, but this company even pushed me over the edge.

This site is the reason I selected them, as I liked their responses to low rated reviews. They demand these people to prove they are real customers, well guess what? I have pictures to prove it, so bring it on.

Nightmare begins, pickup set for Monday. They call and it's Tuesday now, fine. 10am to 2pm, we call at 10am, "we are late, just packing up! Be there at 2pm'.They show up at 8:30pm, and we have to be in a new state the next afternoon. Short version, they left 1 item off the list (repeated to them twice), so we had to pay for that. As well, our 2 mirrors on the inventory list, we had to pay for mirror box's? Because when give a quote for furniture wrap, you obviously don't account for mirror box's then last minute break contract to make them buy box's for $35 each.. And broken items on pickup, important screws and parts left on floor. (third party contractors by the way)

They can't give us a delivery time, or even a rough estimate until the day before delivery, which is 2 weeks later. They said they would be there between 2pm and 6pm and that they ran into traffic (it's D.C. Of course there is traffic) so they delay and get here at 7pm. Every thing is okay, till they just say "oh, we don't work past 6:00pm" (even though their fault, and they showed up a hour later than 6pm) and literally tell us we have to assemble rest of everything ourselves and leave trash everywhere and just up and leave.

My girlfriend calls them, and insted of making it right they scream at her! She told them she was contacting better business Bureau, and their response is to email her telling us that the BBB is just a joke anyway.. Didn't even try to make things right.

So "smart choice", balls in your court. Try to dispute this one. FYI, you will be receiving a bill for work not completed.

  9. Verified good service.

Experimenting should never be an option for moving. I am a living victim of experimenting who ended up a bunch of broken items on my last move. This time, I was looking for a mover who has reputation of good service in this regard. From more than one sources, I found Smart choice van lines’s reference. I called their manager, got a good estimate, got 4 persons including a foreman for the task and got every of my things fit and fine in my new place. I got it sound and clear why they are this much reputed. I am verifying their good service. You can hire them.

  10. Well done folks.

Just moved to Austin, TX all the way from Miami, FL. We used Smart choice van lines for the relocation services. They offered us a very good deal and scheduled the move within a very short time. Walter at the office was very helpful and took all necessary steps to help us. The 4 men moving team arrived on time and packed the whole house in no time. They were very careful with the walls and floors in both the ends and were able to complete the move within the allotted time. It was great so notice everything arriving in one piece and without any dent. Well done folks. We made it.

  11. Poor service.

This is the most unprofessional business ever. This whole move was a complete nightmare. The initial quote was around 5200.  We ended up paying way more than the quoted price and still didn't move all our stuff. First, everything the reservation specialists told us was a lie.  They never came out to do an inventory and she just wanted to know the big items and she promised everything would go. They said they would provide a 52 ft trailer and come on Friday Feb 27th.  They didn't come till Sat and didn't start working until 3pm.  They would only pack the stuff that was on the list and refused to take the rest of our items unless we agreed to pay more.  They only showed up with one  28ft truck.  They stopped packing by 7pm said they were tired. All our stuff was scattered everywhere and left outside in the rain.  They said they will be back for the items on the list for an extra $500.  Which means we had to pay extra for them to finish their job and we even had to rent our own uhaul for the stuff they wouldn't take.  We also had to take them to uhaul for another truck they promised us in our own vehicle which was very unprofessional. The refuse to take our 4 wheeler. None of them spoke any english and the owner was very rude and screamed at us on the phone.  They were supposed to arrive at our destination on Sun.  They didn't leave until Sunday afternoon which arrived on monday at a later time then scheduled.  They wouldn't even open the truck to let us see that our stuff was not broken or stolen.  We ended up involving cops.  This was the worst move ever..  They also go by Moving America Xpress.

  12. I almost wanted to move again.

Okay, I'm kidding, but they were that good.  When I first booked Smart choice van lines, I was given a window of time that they could arrive on moving day. I was incredibly impressed when they called the morning of the move and told me a specific time they would arrive. I was doubly impressed when they arrived at that time..spot on. They were quick and smooth and nothing was damaged. The actual bill was within the amount that was quoted and the entire move was completed without any unwanted issues.

  13. Outstanding.

Smart choice van lines is OUTSTANDING!! The crew made our move from FL to TX seamless & stress-free. I was very pleased with their friendliness, professionalism, efficiency and overall great customer service. They were even very kind and patient with our 10 year old daughter who was mesmerized by their physical strength and watched their every move. Thanks for an easy day for a stressful event like moving! Excellent, excellent, excellent, can say no more!!

  14. You'll be sorry..

They seem nice enough on the phone. Happy and fun before the order..But they are quicker to rebut truthful reviews than to fix customers problems. I noticed not a single bad review resolved.. HINT HINT..
As advertised they were cheap, so were their excuses.
My belongings were picked up two days later than the scheduled time. I examined the truck and it had no visible holes. My belongings arrived a week late but with 25% of my items missing. And yet they couldn't find my belongings. Then the cheap excuses started..Not even an attempt at resolution after multiple calls and submitting claim forms.
Simply said, I have better things to do then write reviews, however I don't know how else to get my issues resolved.
Use them and you'll be sorry!!

  15. Pleasant Surprise.

I put my info in for a free moving quote and then my phone blew up. Now this alone was overwhelming. It is very hard to trust someone with all your possessions. I had a really good talk with Richard and he seemed like a very down to earth guy. I went with his company and crossed my fingers. On pick up day I had everything ready and they came in the 2 hour window as promised. I was blown away at how nice they were and how fast everything was out of my house. I think they were there for a total of 2 hours. They came to my place in NY and I was so surprised at how fast they got my stuff here. They had told me it would be about 14 or something like that. So when they called I was so surprised to know they would be here soon so I bought them all pizza. I was afraid at first as I had never had to move so far before. These guys didn't have many reviews when I checked them out so here is mine. If you've got a couple other quotes that are little lower I'd still go with these guys. .
