Beware! thieves and klutzes run this place.
Horrible experience. Things seemed ok -- until delivery. 1. Minors were hired to unload. One of them dropped a $2,000 curio cabinet (antique) and the glass is now broken and can't be repaired. 2. Many things missing, including 200 oz. of silver, solid silver bowls, estimated cost about $12,000. 3. Marble top to my dresser shattered into pieces, even after instructing them how it had to be handled. 4. Many miscellaneous items missing as well. 5. We were under-quoted. 6. The supervisor at site of origination was pressuring us into a 10% tip -- that would have been $1,200. We are generous people, but their demands were absurd.

Dishonest company.
Got an average quote for move to Florida from NY. Movers arrived on time and were professional. Unfortunately then they took over a month to deliver my property. When it arrived numerious items were broken.. the things they packed as well as stuff I packed. three boxes and a suitcase with clothing were also missing. They offer you a free insurance but it covers nothing that you pack and a fraction of the cost of your property I had several thousands of dollars in damages and missing items and they wanted to give me $95.00 dollars to settle. Yes not a typo ninty five dollars!! Well I will be seeing them in small claims court.
Thieves Beware.
People BEWARE!! This is not a moving company, this is a professional scamming ring managed by a couple of [EDIT] and thieves. I found this company online last year to move some equipment I had from my storage in Pa to my new business in Syracuse, NY. I hadn't had a lot of experience with moving companies for I rarely used them. I called and one of their 2 or so agents named James answered me. He asked me what size truck I was looking for and I told him I don't know a size, but that I will give him a list of the equipment that I'm moving and their sizes, and based on that he can tell me what size truck I need. After giving him a detailed list, he told me I need a 54 foot truck and 4 guys to lift the equipment. And told me that it will cost me 1600 to do the job. BASED ON THOSE TERMS, I agreed and the moving date was to be two days later. I paid 600 while on the phone with the agent and I was to pay the rest after they move the equipment. On the scheduled day, I got a call from them saying that the truck is coming TWO HOURS LATE, They told me that during the time that they were supposed to be here and after I Got to the storage which is about 2 hours away from where I came. Having no other choice I waited. 3 hours later a 26 foot truck came in with 3 workers. [EDIT], I was outraged, the first thing the drivers did was try to get me to sign a receipt which of course I didn't, I called the company to see what's going on and why are they not fulfilling with the agreement. When I spoke with James, he seemed to be very nervous and did not know what to say, so he switched the line over to his boss, the head of the whole scam. When I asked him what's going on, he rudely told me that, this is the only size truck that they have. If that's the only size that why did you make up the size that you told me about?. Anyways, I asked him, how will he fit all the EQUIPMENT THT ARE ON THE LIST, he said, that's not his problem, and that If the equipment doesn't fit, he'll send another 26ft truck, hence, I know where he got the number 54, and that I will pay another 1600 to get the job done. So the job went from 1600 to 3200. Obviously at that time I knew it was a scam and SO DID HIS DRIVERS WHO SAID THAT HE HAD DONE THIS TO MANY OTHER CUSTOMERS. I refused this and asked him to refund my 600 dollars if he does not want to stick to the original agreement, He didn't refunded it, wasted my entire day and lost me a lot of money like car gas. It has been a year now since this problem and I'm still trying to get my money back through American express, and he is not only refusing to refund, HE EVEN FORGED MY SIGNATURE, WHICH LOOKS NOTHING LIKE MY REAL SIGNATURE. THIS SITUATION IS SO BAD THAT I MIGHT HAVE TO SPEND MORE TIME AND MONEY TO HIRE A LAWYER AND TAKE THIS S*O*B THIEF TO COURT. STAY AWAY AND SPARE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE AND DRAMA. .
Ruined a meaningful moment.
My experience with this company has been so torment that it’s even hard for me to write a review describing how they ruined a moment that was supposed to be one in a lifetime. Let’s just say that this experience was my first. I was called to start a business in another state and I gladly took the offer. The one meaningful object that someone who meant a lot to me was the one thing that led me to receive that offer.
I made a promise to someone who passed away and every time I looked at that object I remember the promised and always became very motivated after that reminder. I got the object shipped because I didn’t want any damages done to it. I wrapped it up and sealed it tight. The moving company lost it. It was after, that I repeatedly called; they never called me. In September I was told it was found. I’m still waiting for my package! The operator told me the driver was in Texas. She was unaware that I had just gotten off the phone with him and he stated he was located in Florida

Moving experience.
The move was a great experience, very smooth, fast and professional. The mover team arrived on time, walked me through the process after viewing the amount of furnuture to be moved, and packed, wrapped prepared everything in a very professional and amazing fast manner. I had the same great experience at the point of delivery, again fast, professional and with great care. Nothing was damaged or broken. All furnitures were set up and assembled to my full satisfaction. The delivery destination was left clean. Again, a great experience. Not to forget to mention the great experience with the sales person of Universe Express. Clear and transparent communication, quick response and offer based on my information about kind and amount of furniture, great follow up and clarification of open topics. I would hire Universe Express again if I had to move again.
Shady Company lies about cost.
I filed a complaint with BBB and they never responded to my final communication they chose to just take the hit on their record. Below is the last communication I received from them via BBB and my response which did include all documentation (emails, photos, paperwork) documenting my claims . It pretty much explains the whole experience of dealing with them and their crooked practices of over charging and changing terms of service. Thursday, October 17, 2013 In response to case number Ms. D hired Universe Express to relocate her items from Rochester, NY to Littleton, CO with a move date of June 25, 2013.Initial Estimate:On June 16, 2013 when Ms. D and our sales representative Mr.James Ricci spoke via telephone, Ms. D was given an estimate based on aninventory list she provided. Ms. D was informed that http://admin.moving.com/thisinitial list is below the minimum cubic foot charge. Ms. D spoke with Mr.James Ricci on several occasions and continued to make changes to the estimate.Ms. D was informed from the very beginning that she would be charged forthe total number of cubic feet the move occupied.The pictures Ms. D sent in were only used to determine thepacking materials needed for the move. We are unable to use pictures todetermine the size of any items as pictures can be deceiving or incomplete. Packing Services & Materials:The materials included in our estimates are the moving blanketsand the tape unless otherwise specified. The sales representative included boxpacking of the china including the boxes themselves, however the additionalmaterials needed are charged at a per usage rate. Any Additional packingmaterials such as Bubble-wrap, White or Tissue paper, Boxes, Kraft-bubble,Shrink-wrap, Paper-blankets etc. are not included in the moving services. Afull pack move would have included all materials and labor at an additionalcharge. However, this is not the service Ms. D ordered. All items werepacked accordingly to the specification(s) given by the representative duringthe pick-up. The packing materials were charged at the per usage rate asexplained in the moving estimate. Unpacking service is an optional service thatdoes entail an additional charge, this service also was not ordered. It isclearly stated in the moving estimate that reassembly of furniture is includedat the time of delivery. All customers are held responsible to unpack theirboxes.Cubic Feet/ Size of the Move:The estimate shows 125 cubic feet based on the inventory list provided by Ms. D Onthe day of the move the items totaled 225 cubic feet. Ms. D tried tomeasure each item individually, which is not an accurate way to measure theitems that are being loaded into a truck. The items do not fit like a puzzlepieces when loaded onto the truck. The items need to be loaded and stackedaccordingly. The correct measurement for the total cubic feet is 225 cubic feetas stated on the contract. Inventory List:Prior to the move date Ms. D provided an inventory list withour sales representative Mr. James Ricci, however on the day of the move ourForemans are required to do a physical list based upon the DOT (Department ofTransportation) Regulations. Our Customer Service Manager, NicolePatrick, spoke with Ms. D and confirmed a physical list needs to be writtenon the day of the move. Ms. D was also informed that some people refer to particularitems by different names ( ex. dresser, bureau, chest, highboy , and wardrobe)the list may have other corresponding names to her particular items. As per Ms.D request a copy of the inventory was sent via email to her accountingfor each piece relocated. Delivery Services:The moving services order by Ms. D clearly state that onlyreassembly of the furniture is included in the moving estimate. If Ms.D wanted full unpacking services she needed to order the service from us atan additional charge and she would have been needed to be ordered at the timeof the move reservation. All customers are held responsible to unpack theirboxes. Wednesday, October 30, 2013 Complaint: I am rejecting this response because:Initial Estimate:In my original contact with James Ricci regarding the items I need moved I was never at anytime informed that my shipment was below any minimum cubit foot charge and Mr. Ricci never indicated anything about this. If it was below a min. charge than I would expect that that would be noted on the initial quote and included in the cost. The changes that were made to the estimate were in fact items that Mr. Ricci never included on the inventory list from our original discussion as well as address information that he left off (email is attached and I have highlighted in bold red so it is easy to find. Packing Services & Materials:In the email conversation with James Ricci you will see noted in bold / blue where I questioned about how the items would be protected in the move (specifically the 100 year old glass bottle that arrived shattered). My response back from him indicated that it would be fully protected but at no time did he ever mention that I would be charged for any necessary materials. In fact he specifically states that they would be protected and that the service includes all wrapping, padding and tape for every item for all our moves. When someone tells me that all "wrapping" is included I certainly don't expect to then have a $200 charge tacked on at the time of pickup. Again no where or at anytime did he ever note that they charge for these materials. Cubic Feet/ Size of the Move:I was told I would be charged for the total cubic feet of my move and I was at the time aware that there is no way for anyone to know the exact measurement of each item without doing a physical inventory. I also realize that items will not fit perfectly on a truck but at no time was I ever told that I would also be responsible for paying for the "void" space on the truck because they could not fit it like a perfect puzzle. I find it quite telling of their shady practices that their own good faith estimate shows that the 100 year old glass bottle they shipped and packed in an oversized china box they provided that measures 9cu feet yet they only sized it as 3 CFT on their settlement. In numerous conversations I asked them to provide a breakdown of the cubic ft charges so I could see where the jump in price happened but they never provided me with such. In total I had 18 items shipped, 6 of those are listed on their good faith estimate and only total 23 cubic feet total. I would be curious to know how the other 12 make up 202 cubic feet when they are such items as a wagon, 2 small picture box, 2 more china boxes, a rocking chair an exact end table as the one on the settlement form etc. Inventory List:I did provide an inventory list with Mr. Ricci at the initial quote. I was concerned about the mislabeling of items b/c it wasn't simply a dresser being called a bureau but a sled being referred to as an "ice rag" or a red wagon being referred to as a "toy car". When I received this inventory sheet I was greatly concerned of the possible mismanagement that may happen with my items. Delivery Services:Again please see the attached email of James Ricci's highlighted in bold green he states that included is all disassembling and reassembling of all furniture and unloading and positioning of all items. If it states that they are going to position the items I am not sure how they are going to do so without taking them out of the box. Additionally at the time of pickup my Mother was told that the unpacking of all boxes would be done by the movers when it arrived at the destination. And lastly on the order for service form that Nicole Patrick sent there is an additional $200 charged on the "Containers, Packing & Unpacking" line. If in fact the unpacking was not included then I would expect that that would be detailed out somewhere but again it was not.The original claims form that I sent to Universe Express disputed not only items received damaged or not delivered (which some were not addressed on this settlement) but costs that were tacked on for packing that was not done and was to be included as well as additional CU ft charges that were grossly inflated and charged at the time the shipment was picked up. Please note that the Goodwill gesture settlement that they forwarded you was dated 8/27/13 however I never received information on this even after I contacted them on 9/5/13 regarding the status of the claim. Obviously they were finished processing but refused to notify me of this and that is a perfect example of why I opened a claim with the BBB prior to their 90 days. Additionally the good faith settlement claim they forwarded you does not include a one of a kind painting that they lost in shipment as well as the additional items that were delivered damaged b/c their movers. When the items were picked up I was charged an additional amount for "professional packing" however most of the delicate items were neglected and all the antique furniture had packing tape applied to the bare wood which in turn pulled off the finishing when removing and left a gummy substance that can not be removed causing permanent damage. .
Worst Moving Company Ever!
Do NOT use Universe Express. I was charged over $1500 more than originally quoted, they held onto my stuff longer than agreed upon and when they finally delivered, 11 items were missing (including my daughter's bed and mattress) and 5 items were damaged beyond repair (including our high chair). Now (over 4 months later) they are refusing to deliver the missing items (stolen by them) or reimbursing the cost to replace them.
Last minute move - all went well.
I booked movers last minute. ( less than 24 hrs). I talked to Lola and she was very professional, helpful . Listened carefully to my needs and answered all the questions I had. the moving guys were awesome! very helpfull. did their job in time. and very well. Overall I was very satisfied with the experience and I would definitley use universal express service in future if I have to. Highly recommended!! .
Biggest scam artist.
Worst service ever. I decided to make a move with this company based on the good reviews. But my experience with this company is a nightmare. Everything seems great until pickup. when it was a time for delivery nobody was there to answer your call. Never receive any call from them about the delivery. I had to call all the time. Finally, when they came for delivery, they came with the very big trailer which I specifically told them not allowed on property. After few arguments, we settled overuse of trolleys n shuttle for which they charged me few hundred bucks extra and I paid them. But the trailer was too big that didn't work out. So we had to unload the truck in nearby church parking lot n I had to hire another small u haul to take my stuff to my home and on top of that when I asked driver to return the money that he took for the use of trolleys n shuttle, he denied and said this money he is charging for the delay in unloading of the stuff because of me. The story doesn't end there. My couple of things were missing and my half of the glassware was crushed. Stay away from them. They are the biggest scam artist out there.
Great movers.
Universe express is a good moving company. The movers were very efficient and did not charge me any additional money from what was agreed during the agreement. The movers were honest and I will definitely use their services in future when needed. They also were perfect in terms of documentation.
Dining Room Furniture Shipment.
Shipped high quality dining room furniture set from Wayne to Blairstown. One table, eight chairs, one hutch with glass windows and shelves. All items arrived without any damage and were assembled perfectly. There was a slight misunderstanding regarding rate and hours but the misunderstanding was resolved via a call to the office to my satisfaction. Very happy with their service.
Poor service.
Worst experience.- Delivery Delayed: picked up my items on may 30th (NJ). I had asked them to deliver on June 6th. They delivered on 22nd Jun (Tx).- Rep lies: when I requested for status in between, operations lady (Nicole Patrick) said truck broke down. I checked with driver and he denied that his truck broke down. He picked up the stuff 4 days before the day of delivery and he went to Houston first.- No safety of items: 1 box missing which they are supposedly still looking for after 2 months and they are not able to find. Truck was stuffed with atleast items from 5-6 houses with no care of fragile items (whether you mark it or not). TV Table is broken which was packed by their So called "professional packers". Delivery guys were not able to identify our items. They were asking us for each and every item.- Claims: I had put the claim for missing box and TV table (total of 120 Lbs). They declined TV table claim saying that it was made of pressed wood. Somehow they calculated the size and weight of the missing box to 21 Lbs. and as per their statement - "To maintain HIGH CUSTOMER SATISFACTION", they are refunding me a huge amount of $12 for the inconvenience due to their so called "professional" service. That too after almost 2 months of delivery.I really wonder if my box if missing or Stolen as it had very important docs and electronic items. Pay extra and get better service than going for this company.. They are big Liars and Cheater..

Universe Express were courteous, professional and on-time all the way through. They quoted me an estimate and that's what I actually paid. No surprises. Roberto and his team are a hard-working bunch. They came on time, called me before their arrival, were fast, disassembled and assembled my furniture were needed, and had a smile all the time (even though it was hot and humid on my moving day). There was no damage to my furniture and they did wrap it all up nicely (tape and packaging material was included in the price). They finished the move in the estimated 5 hours and I paid exactly what I was quoted for. I am just writing this review to give credit were it's due. Thanks Universe Express, would definitely use you again if needed.
Avoid at All Cost! Biggest Scam Artists!
AVOID. BIGGEST SCAM ARTISTS! They brought a truck that was too small to complete the job and understaffed it as well. They couldn't fit all of our belongings and the job required two trips. They told us they called "Juan" to get two more guys and a truck to our house and then never showed up. They refused to make the additional trips and collected an additional $110 for gas, which was included in our flat fee. The movers reported to the company that additional trips were rejected by us, when we expressly asked for them. Not to mention Nicole Patrick, the manager, was extremely rude and non apologetic about the partial work done and the fact that we were swindled by her employees and the company. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!
Straightforward Easy.
Overall a very good experience. I worked out a quote over the phone and was charged the exact same amount on delivery day. Including tax and tip, my move across town was under $450. The movers were on time and quick. Everything was wrapped and protected very well during shipment. No damages. At my new place the movers set up my furniture exactly where I wanted it. I'd use them again in the future.
