  1. Never again.

Our move with All My Sons did not go well. Let's start with the day of the move. Horrible rainy day. I get it. But, I was told movers would be there between 12:00 - 4:00. At 2:00ish, I called to get an ETA and was told that the weather had moved the schedule back, but someone would be there before 4:00. At 3:50 when no one had called or shown up, I called back and was asked to do the move the next day. We could not do that, so I was told that the dispatcher would be out to do the move soon. We made the decision to do the move on Saturday due to the rain and not wanting to ruin our belongings. The lack of communication was disappointing. Had someone called earlier in the day, arrangements may have been made so the move could have been done the next day. No one from the company called me; I had to do the calling. This does not qualify as great customer service.

A move that should have taken 2 1/2 hours took 4 hours. There was no sense of urgency from the crew. They spent a lot of time wrapping items; about an hour and a half. That seems excessive for four or five wrapped items. They did not have tools. We had to go buy screwdrivers. The Dispatcher assured me this wasn't company policy, so I guess it was negligence on the part of the crew. Either way, it was unprofessional. They did not know the best way to get the furniture down the steps, nor did they investigate to see if there was a better way. There were two entrances to the apartment. The front stairs are much more conducive to taking furniture in and out. (I would have explained that had I been there when they arrived.) A 50-year old man and a 60-year old man helped move that furniture up the two flights of stairs quicker and without damage to walls or furniture. The same cannot be said about the AMS crew. Don't get me wrong - very nice gentlemen, but not seasoned movers. And, we paid the price for that. I called to complain about how slow they were moving, so the dispatcher came out to check. It was amazing how much quicker they were after his visit.

There were three dressers, one TV stand, one mattress and box springs, two-piece sectional, ottoman, two night stands, two bar caddies, small kitchen table and four chairs, an upholstered chair, and a TV to be moved. There truly was not that much to move. The amount of furniture moved would have gone into a truck a fourth of the size of the one that was sent.

I was quoted $350 and paid over $500. I did not get my monies worth. I have an antique cherry dresser that has marks on the top from being bumped down two flights of stairs on a dolly and now has a huge gash down the front from when it fell off of the dolly and hit the railing. Even if it is repaired, the damage will show. It's an antique, and the gash is deep and long. Again, there was no damage to the dresser when it went up the stairs. The very first piece of furniture that was moved into the new house was put down in such a way that it gauged the wall. No apologies from the crew about any of this.

I have communicated this to the sales person and the consumer care person. No response nor an apology from anyone. Again, not very professional.

Bottom line; we expected professionals and a quick move out of a one-bedroom apartment. That is not what we received nor experienced.

  2. Extremely poor/unacceptable moving service.

I called All My Sons to move the heavier items out of our condo as well as a storage unit into a home nearby. Since these guys charge by the hour, I was told it would take less then three hours to complete the job as all we had them move was five dressers, two couches, a chair, a treadmill, an armoire, and a dining room table and china cabinet. The house is only 1.7 miles from both the storage unit and condo, so the drive time was minimal, but this job took a team of three over five hours. They scratched the wood floor. They snagged the carpet in two spots. They placed the armoire in it's spot upside down (yes, upside down). In one instance, when they were carrying an item down the steps, one gentleman dropped it. The other helper said be careful. The comment from the guy that dropped it was, "oh well". Since they charge by the hour, they wrap everything with about an entire roll of plastic wrap and blankets. Protecting the items is great but the pace is slower than turtle speed. Just a miserable, costly experience. DO NOT USE THESE GUYS! THEY ARE A TRAINWRECK and your furniture and home will be too if you rely on All My Sons for your move.

  3. Awesome!!

These guys were so awesome! We will be calling them back in 5 months to move us in our new house!!

  4. Unacceptable treatment of our property by All my sons in Portland OR.

On a recent cross country move from Battle Ground WA to Manchester CT. All My Sons failed to show any respect for my property . Some of the Damage included a Crushed Weber smoker, Custom Cherry dining table with a broken Leg & Scratched leaves, a wooden chest had the doors ripped off, a broken floor lamp damaged lamp shades a mattress that was poked with a pitch fork. The couch and Chair was on its Side on a dirty truck bed unprotected. None of the furniture was wrapped. Boxes were placed on table tops without padding. Lamps & Lampshades and other breakables were just shoved into holes unprotected.

  5. Nonresponsive and Extensive Damage.

    Giant FAIL.
We are breaking up my parents home and moved only the most valuable family heirlooms to three locations in Austin. We picked All My Sons, despite being twice the cost of the other bid because of the care they promised.

They did not show up on time. They did not wrap a single item, did not pad items, did not pad stair railing or door frames, did not follow directions for where the items were to go. A drive that takes 1 hour and 45 minutes took them 2 1/2 hours. They showed up at the wrong location first, requiring a neighbor to accept the piano that had a piece broken off and a huge gouge in the front of it.
The furniture arrived at the Assisted Living facility in bad shape, again with family heirlooms unwrapped and lacking padding and a shoe print in the middle of the dining table. When asked, the mover said they didn't wrap to save us time since we were to be charged by the hour. Once we started identifying all the damage, he denied saying that. Claimed they wrapped and unwrapped everything in the truck. Since we have a security cameras in several rooms and the front of the house, we can see them banging into walls and not spending time to wrap in the truck. When we showed them a table with broken and dangling wood, they claimed it was already there. Exposed bent nail and all.

The movers were very rude, and said a claims report would be sent to us. Five days later and we still have not been contacted despite sending emails to the estimator Johnny Jones and to the company.
Can't see how this could have been any worse than items being moved in an open pick up truck.

  6. Outrageous sneak up pricing at end of move.

All my Sons Moving in Roswell, Georgia will quote you an approximate price over the phone. The move took twice as long as the company estimated. My one bedroom apartment cost $945.00 to move 10 miles. The company did such things as charge $38.25 for charging the move in the field; $160.00 for $20.00 worth of materials; and increase the time of the mover from 3 hours to 6 hours.

  7. All my Sons Nightmare experience.

This was the worse experience I ever had in a move. They estimated incorrectly the amount of possessions I had and were not prepared. They did not deliver when promised. They significantly damaged 5 pieces of brand new furniture then offered me $81 in repairs. Do yourself a favor and pick a better company.

  8. Hidden fees exhorbitant.

GOOD: After my first exploratory call for a local (10 minutes away, to storage unit) move (partial household, office furniture and big workshop tools), the sales force was relentless in making me feel special, calling me every other day so they could schedule their “best crew” just for me, and promising to be with me “every step of the way”.

The 3-man crew showed up on time and performed satisfactorily, though it was an awkward situation when they started talking about their tips before they even started working. This crew worked hard, took reasonable care, used runners on the floor, acted responsibly and conscientiously, and was polite. I have no complaints about the crew’s work.

BAD: Once I gave All My Sons Moving & Storage the $100 deposit, I didn’t hear from them again. They said they would call me two or three days before the move to work out details; but I had to call them one day before. If I hadn’t called them less than 24 hours before the moving time, no telling when I would have heard from them.

I was assured in advance that 4 movers would be there, for maximum speed and efficiency. But the morning of the move, Jason at the main office called me to say one of the movers, “a great guy,” had a family emergency and couldn’t make it. At least Jason reduced the labor rate from $179/hr to $159/hr. When the 3 movers arrived, they promptly started grumbling about the 4th guy, who they said partied so hard the night before, and got so drunk, that he didn’t show up for work. The remaining 3 guys grumbled about having to work harder to make up for the missing 4th man; also, I had to take the place of the missing 4th man in moving a couple big pieces.

UGLY: The quote I was given was based around the main cost, the labor rate. It also cited various added costs: 1 hour travel charge, 12% fuel surcharge, $100 extra charge for the gun safe, packing materials charge “based on usage” (unspecified basis). All the specified charges were acceptable to me, leading me to expect $800 - $1,000 total. But when we arrived at the storage unit, the foreman showed me the charge: $1,598, including $610 for packing materials (paper pads, shrink wrap and packing tape). I immediately challenged the packing materials charge as outrageous, so the foreman phoned Jason the manager for me. When I complained to Jason, he kept rambling about how careful they are about using padding, because they are professionals and wanted to protect my furniture. But he never explained why TWO packs of paper pads cost ~$600. After my continued complaints, Jason reduced the packing materials charge by $46, to $564 (for two packs of paper pads, shrink wrap and a few rolls of packing tape). Instead of $800-1,000, the total cost of my move was $1,465 … plus tips for the 3 workers. Now I’m having to spend my personal time writing bad reviews and filing a complaint with the Attorney General’s office.

BOTTOM LINE: I will NOT be a repeat customer of All My Sons Moving & Storage. Ever.

  9. Rip Off Company.

We had All My Sons in Sarasota, Fl move us on June 23, 2016 put our belongings in storage, and then move us out November 11, 2016. I was charged 3300 for the move plus 250/month for July, August, September and October 2016. On the charge in June, I was charged a prorated charge for June 23-july 15, and then the $250 for July. But then we got charge again for July and they have refused to refund the $250 double charge. On top of that, they have REFUSED to give me an itemized invoice for each move, and I firmly believe I have been overcharged manhours, especially since I have been denied an itemized invoice. On top of that we were charged

$480 fuel surcharge, for driving a total of approximately 50 miles (and gas is 2.19 per gallon). I have been denied speaking to the owner named Betty a lady named Diane speaks for her. I've been told this is a small family owned company, well if you treat your family the way I've been treated this is no family you want to be a member of. All My Sons is nothing more than a SHYSTER company, in business to rip off their clients. The only good thing I can say is that the moving guys were ok and took relatively good care of our belongings. My advice for doing business with any moving company is get it IN WRITING, I was too naive and trusting and I really got screwed. My advice is to RUN AWAY,
not WALK away from ALL MY SONS MOVING and STORAGE as fast as you can, and give your moving business elsewhere.

  10. Movers were great- Final Cost Excessive.

The movers insisted on wrapping in blankets even $5 items and did not remove them causing an $800 additional fee. I moved a 3-bedroom home only 10 miles to a storage facility and my invoice was in excess of $2,500. Company led me to believe majority of expense would be based on hourly labor charges and never gave me a pre-estimate of total charges, what I later learned was a violation of state statutes. Labor was 4.5 hours, but many additional charges were added. Movers were courteous and did a good job though if you are willing to pay out your nose and be ripped off.

  11. Scam outfit.

I hired all my sons moving from the I-10 location last week. The contract was $333 for a 2 hr move of less than 20 items (dressers, beds, w&d,etc.) to a house 10 minutes away. Final bill, $570.
I called to complain and received rude attitude but a $55 reduction. That's still $515 for the slowest movers ever. On 4 different occasions, I found the movers chatting inside the truck when I could not find them in the house. I did all the prep work, disassembling beds, covering mattresses, making room for furniture. The move was easy, from a one story house to another one story house. What a scam! Move slow so they can justify overcharging the customer.

  12. Bad Moving Experience.

The owner was very nice until the day of the move. If he was the owner. The owner was so adamant about me being at the storage around 7:30 am. On the morning of the move. I called the owner and asked, "What time are they going to be there? He said the dispatch out at 7:30a. I said you did not say that. He then said she did say that. I was trying to say, that I never spoke to a woman. He owner was so augmentative and very demeaning, told me to stop it! be quite!” No professionalism or courtesy at all! I was trying to explain and could not get a word in. I don't know if he was having a bad day. I even asked him that. I said, is this how you are going to talk to me, I am paying you? He said yes!! Do you want to do the job? He said no! I said put my money back in my account, and I can get someone else. He hung the phone up in my face. I started to pray, I asked the Lord to help me! I called another moving company, then I called a friend of mine and she called him. He was polite to her. I shouldn't have listen to her.
One of the drivers was slowing around, I guess to make it longer. He kept running back to the truck. The worst mistakes I made was to continue to let him move me. When there are so many more professional people out there, who will treat you with respect. We were only going 24-30miles. Then when we arrive at the house. You have to pay before you get your things off the truck. So the charges were ridicules you need your furniture so you have to pay. I have worked with a few movers because I work for the government and I am always moving. This is one of the worst moving company I have ever used. Will I ever use this company again, No! Will I recommend this company to anybody else! No! I am sure I will be moving again, but this company will never get my business. I called him and told this arrogant owner that I will be writing a review. He acts as though he did not care. Trust me do not use them again. Take my advice. I should have read the reviews first. That is what I usually do before I use anyone or purchase anything. Usually, someone has had a good or bad experience with something or someone. Bad for business!

  13. Local move.

This company didn't deliver on any of the promises I.e.: "careful, respectful quality assurance throughout the move". In fact, my furniture and personal belonging arrived wet damaged and broken. I was told that none of my concerns could be addressed until I paid an additional $215 of "overtime". The "manager", a Mr. Don Moyer was insulting and intimidating. I actually considered calling law enforcement.

  14. Omaha office - Not up to speed with their service.

First they were late due to being "short handed" so they set up a second time. Then they were 2 hrs early for that. I missed 3 other appts for my new home just trying to get them out to my location. They sent an extra person and charged me for it. The move took 1 hr (load and unload) and they charged me for 2hours.

Spoke with Edward Wallen at the location to talk through these issues. He said my expectations of service were "asinine" and was already "helping me out". He has no clue on "customer engagement" as he told me that "this is the moving business so take it or leave it". Also said that he was "I was lucky" as they could have just "cancelled the order" and I would have "had to move myself".

Wait, you're late and missed the window to move me after I paid and I'm lucky?

They also charged me for tape that I did not use AT ALL but they invoiced me for it. The movers were nice enough but if Edward Wallen represents what they feel customers are and should be treated then I will NEVER use nor recommend them again.

Maybe other location work more closely with their customers. The Omaha location, not so much. FAIL!

Sent a email to the corporate office but have yet to hear back from anyone or acknowledge that my email has been received.

  15. Move from Grapevine to Grayson Co.

We had a great experience with All My Sons Moving Co. Everything went smoothly from Shannon the estimator to the move-day team leader Chris Barnes. They arrived on time. We needed 2 trucks and 5 guys for our move. The guys were real go-getters. They worked their tails off and treated our things with great care. I highly recommend All My Sons. We are missing our refrigerator door shelves but they have promised to resolve the situation.

    Chris & Steve Harbers.
