  1. Horrible Experience - DO NOT TRUST THE GOOD REVIEWS.

If I could give this company 0 stars, I would. We very mistakenly used Long Distance Van Lines for a move from San Francisco to Chicago in July 2017. They drew us in with a really low estimate for our move (which of course turned out as too good to be true) and a charming sales person who immediately disappeared and could not be contacted after we signed up to move with them. We learned a good lesson for future moves that you should always get a home visit before signing up with movers so that they can provide you a reasonable cost estimate. The movers arrived 2 days late and then increased our moving estimate by $3000 after they had loaded all our possessions (some of which were hanging out the back of an unmarked van) into the truck. The movers spoke very poor English and when we tried to contact customer service (Paula), she was not accommodating, sympathetic, or flexible. Paula should not be in customer service - her personality is the antithesis of someone who should be in customer service. We felt that we had no option but to use them for the move (which was a mistake on our part), given that all our possessions were already loaded onto the truck. We were given a 2 week delivery range about a month out. This in and of itself is absurd. We had to wait at our parents' house in Minnesota while we waited to hear back from LDVL about our delivery in Chicago. As we got closer and closer to the end of the delivery date, I started calling them multiple times a day - about 95% of the time, I could not get in touch with anyone. When I did speak with Paula, she provided very little useful information about where our possessions were and when they would arrive. Because of that, we left on a week-long vacation thinking that we would be able to accept delivery of our possessions after we returned. Of course, while we were out of the country, LDVL decided to deliver our stuff. We PLED with Paula to change the delivery date so that we could be there, but she refused. On the first delivery attempt, the driver claimed that our alley was too small to fit a truck into, and they demanded $500 for a shorter truck to come in and deliver our stuff. That was a COMPLETE lie. I saw multiple large moving trucks in our alley successfully delivering other people's stuff for the 2 years that I lived in Chicago. On the second attempt, a successful delivery was made. When we returned, all our boxes were crushed, our white couch had 4 large black stains on it, nearly all our furniture was scuffed or scratched or damaged in some way (including a kitchen bench, our table, our dresser, our box frame, our couch, and our office desk). The movers also lost a box of expensive ski gear, including ski boots. The total compensation for this loss, plus the unnecessary request for $500 to get a smaller van? About $450. We had to threaten them with legal action to even begin the process, which took 6 months. PLEASE DO NOT TRUST THEM. They go through a few different names. Also do not trust reviews on Consumer Affairs - they are a scam review site and Long Distance Van Lines paid them to remove bad reviews. They go under multiple names and have switched names in the past to avoid issues. You can also refer to this website: https://medium.com/@ldvl.broke.me/the-sale-6876b14d02bb.

  2. Do NOT use this ATROCIOUS, UNETHICAL Company.

After a long distance move from the West Coast to the East Coast, I was stunned to find about 30% of my high value items "missing". Out of all my items missing, they happen to only be my high value items? Not only that but I had ziptied my totes closed and when they arrived, the zip ties were no longer on there and the inside contents were gone! "Missing" items include my pro mountain bike, queen mattress (how do you lose a queen mattress??), Canon DSLR camera, HD video camera, flat screen TV and more. Ironically, I had labeled all my items with my name and phone # just in case they got lost and they still can't be found?. Additionally, there was also damage to the furniture they packed. Because I had a medical emergency that led to a delayed delivery, I was also using their storage service. I was paying monthly fees based on square footage and with the amount of "missing" items, I have been overcharged for months!! I've had their people hang up on me, say they'll call me back and never do, have disconnected phone #'s and emails and the list goes on. Is there is a seedy underbelly in the moving world? I'd like to gather similar victims so we can change this and hold them accountable! Stealing items under the protected guise of missing items is theft (if that turns out to be my case). Do NOT use this company.

If anything like this happens to you do ALL of these if possible: file a stole property report, file a claim with the FMCSA, file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, file a complaint with the American Moving and Storage Association, consider the AMSA's Arbitration Program (While arbitration is voluntary for you, it may be mandatory for your mover. Your moving company is required to accept your request for arbitration concerning disputes of less than $10,000. For disputes exceeding that amount it is not mandatory for movers to comply), take them to small claims court.

  3. Never use Long Distance Van Lines.

I regret the moment I asked for a quote. I received a call from one of their sales people and he was an incredibly pushy liar. Told me he was giving me a great deal and that I should trust him because they're not a brokerage, they do everything in company. He also told me that the company's insurance would cover my TV, which is really the only thing I was worried about. I asked him multiple times about it. He essentially bullied me into accepting, saying that he would just match the price if I found a cheaper company that wasn't a brokerage but I had to sign right now.

Fast forward to when I'm about to move, I still haven't heard back from them about when the exact date is. I tried to call the person back because I was freaking out, only to find out that he doesn't even work there anymore. I tried talking with customer service but they were incredibly rude and unhelpful. I asked them when the van was coming, and even the day before the potential move, I was still waiting for a confirmation. They told me that they had to contact this other place so they couldn't tell me yet. If they weren't a brokerage, why was it such a process to confirm the time? To make matters worse, they told me that their insurance would only cover .60 cents per pound and that definitely wasn't enough to cover my TV so I had to rush buy additional insurance.

In the end, I felt so unsafe about giving them my stuff because this first part alone was so draining of my energy. It gave me too much anxiety feeling like I was being lied the whole time and none of them cared so I had decided to not use them anymore. It seemed like everyone that I would have to deal with at this company was really unpleasant and I just wanted to be rid of them. I lost my deposit and regret that but to be honest, I feel so much better with the company I ended up going with.

  4. Scam.

They make Al Capone look like a choir boy. They have lied repeatedly to their customers and are like the other company in Ohio. They tried to charge me over 16k for an incomplete move. They even packed my garbage bin with garbage IN IT!
They lied and stalled with the wrong Fed and ended up losing BADLY. They are at it again but this time I want them out of business. They make up companies to hide their incompetence then they steal your things. Those 5 stars?? Friends and family plan. Didn't give up then. Not about to now! The longer they take the worse things will get
Everything was proven a LIE. They stole things. They even ignored the DOT!

    Ms. Seales,

IF you read the top of the form your signed it
is called INTERSTATE REVISED WRITTEN ESTIMATE, that is what
I was referring to when I stated that it was signed by
you. There are initial spaces also on the bill of lading
that were initialed by you, that were not necessary, but
shows paperwork was filled out, and not blank. We do not
want your furniture, some of the packing was done, by you,
but a lot of it was done by our movers. The barrels you
refer to were not unpacked they are still packed with your
items. The shipment size has been verified to be 1650
cubic feet. We can try to resolve this issues, but we are
not delivering partial shipment, but would like to delivery
it together. Issues need to be resolved, the paperwork was
signed by you, it was filled out prior to you leaving for
the airport. If you call me maybe we can come to a
    resolution.

    SEE?

    BBB
signed the Revised Moving Estimate for $12,815.00 (attached) and left to the airport. How was she expecting the bill for $4000 - we don't understand.
    - In regards to "nothing packed at all which was a total lie". Was it a lie? Just take a look at attached picture. Does it look packed to you? Ridiculous!!

    RESULT
    After reviewing your
paperwork, I see you’ve added several charges increasing
the shipment from the original estimate of $3188 to over
$12,000. One such charge is for a “Handling Fee”
in the amount of $1200 with no explanation as to what
this is or entails. Another added charge of $3780 for
packing, but you packing materials order form is blank
except for the total amount of charges. Lastly, you
show a description of 170 added boxes with no indication of
their size as well as 6 misc. furniture
    pieces added.

    49 CFR 375.403(a)(6)(ii)
requires your revised estimate to “Accurately” list in
detail those additional items and services when the need
arises to increase the charges of the estimate and I find
your revised estimate is not in compliance
    with this.

    As a result, your company
is directed to complete the move based on the charges listed
    in the original estimate only.

    Advise by close of
business 6/2/2017, of your intentions to comply with this
    matter.

That's what happens when you give my time to look into your mess of a company. This will be posted EVERYWHERE!! You want to hostage me. I'll EXPOSE YOU.

  5. My dad was happy.

My old man wanted to go back to his hometown upstate Carolina, and I was responsible for his relocation. I knew his household was big so I had to find a mover that would handle the relocation conveniently. I did my research and found Long Distance Van Lines. After a background check and such, I gave them the job, and it was splendid. They showed up early with tools and equipment to set the ball rolling. They had finished packing in no time and ensured that everything was okay. By the end of the day, my dad was happily relocated in his new house.

  6. Unmatched quality.

I have seen my relatives and friend relocating, both long distance and in-state relocations but I have never seen any other mover offering services like Long Distance Van Lines. I moved to Long Island early this month, and I had them stewarding the relocation. They made my relocation one of its kind. You should have been there when they got the ball rolling. Their organization was evident from the time they started packing to the time they were off-loading from their heavy trucks.

  7. Thank you Long Distance Van Lines.

I moved last week from Indiana to Florida and I used Long Distance Van Lines for my move. The guys came on time and delivered everything on time. That was my biggest fear. All was done beautifully as well and thankfully they stayed within my budget. I said it once and ill say it again.. Thank you Long Distance.

  8. The most unprofessional, irresponsible, rude, and unethical moving Co.

Sales lied and misquoted first quote $6415 for 40 items. Customer service when through our MLS and gave new quote of $13000. Movers late >2hours wouldn’t complete move. Forced us to resign new contract at 3am for over $8000 if not they would not deliver and put in storage and charge rent. Didn’t deliver next day. When delivered majority of furniture damaged customer service refused 110%rule piano left in hot garage. 90-100 degrees. Many calls without any service. The movers were rude and used vulgar language when moving We still have PTSD from all of this. Major damage of our grandfather clock and fine furniture. We have more pictures if interested.

  9. Stay Away.

Long Distance Van Lines is a terrible company. The first people you speak with seem awesome and seem to be giving you a great deal. What they don’t tell you is that they low ball you and if your cubic footage goes over their estimate, you pay double for certain things (ex: packing materials. Price doubles once you go over their estimate). Let’s not forget that they do their estimates verbally rather than sending someone out. Initially the person I spoke with did my estimate incorrectly and 4 business days before Long Distance was scheduled to come out someone else did a second inventory, charged me a $250 fee to make the changes to my inventory, then charged an additional $1000+. I was annoyed but figured whatever..I can’t do anything about this because conveniently enough you can’t cancel and get a full refund unless it’s 7+ business days before your move. I see what you guys did there. Anyway, they came out the day of and informed me that they can’t take any liquids or lightbulbs. I was so angry as no one told me this ahead of time AND arhat isn’t mentioned in any of your paperwork or on their website. I called Lissa from QA the following day and she was beyond rude, giving me an attitude while demanding that she told me this when she called me the week before. She didn’t call me- I called her and she never told me this. If their calls are recorded like they say, you would think they wouldn’t be so rude. Oh! And I had more stuff than they estimated BOTH times so there goes about $250 charge and a total of almost $4000 more than my original quote. The only good part was that my stuff got here the earliest date they guaranteed. However, the movers packed my stuff and didn’t check to see if drawers were empty and ended up breaking things. All of my furniture arrived chipped or scratched. Their insurance doesn’t cover chips and scratches. This company is a bunch of rude, money hungry crooks who should never have ANYONE’s business.

  10. Run For The Hills - Horrible!!

In August of 2017, I hired LDVL to move me from Chicago to San Francisco. Their Salesperson was very accommodating and honored (or so I thought) my request to move on a certain date and time if I paid a premium which I gladly agreed to. On moving day, they were to arrive between 8 - 12 noon - they arrived at 4:00 p.m. with two gentlemen to fully pack, load and remove all of my belongings in a 4 story walk-up unit. Needless to say, they did not complete the move until nearly midnight and did a horrible job of packing my belongings and not wrapping any of my valuables. I am a corporate executive and don't own any IKEA-type furnishings. Everything I own was brand new or custom-made.

I subsequently flew out to San Francisco to arrive a day prior to my move-in date. 3:00 p.m. came and no movers, so I called their so called customer service line only to discover that my belongings were still in Chicago and would not arrive for another 2 1/2 weeks (after I paid for expedited shipping). I was furious as I only had the clothes on my back and a small suitcase. I ended up staying in a hotel for two weeks at my own expense - a $3,500 bill which I had not anticipated. Hotels in SF are very expensive.

When my belongings finally did arrive, have of my belongings were missing or damaged beyond repair. Once again, I immediately called their customer service department (Paula) who is the poorest excuse of a human being. She was rude, obnoxious, unhelpful, and a down-right "B..ch" to me on the phone. If she was my employee, she would have been fired on the spot!

    I eventually filed a claim with over $15,000 in damages - I received $700. It's an outrage!

They should be out of business - DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! Trust me, these other reviews must have been written by their employees - they are absolute snakes!

  11. Guaranteed safety.

The first thing I checked when looking for a relocating company to handle my relocation was the security of my belongings. My wife had said about how her colleague at work had had an awful experience moving to the neighborhood. I didn't want the same for my family, and so I took my time to find an ideal mover. Long Distance Van Lines came through for me, and they assured me of doing everything in their power to ensure the safety of my property. I took their word for it and hired them. For sure they were considerate. All my belongings were delivered in their right shape and sizes.

  12. Favorable quotations.

If you have checked the relocation costs for different companies and realized that they are exaggerated, you are not alone. I noticed that when I was relocating, and since I wanted to keep my budget in check, I looked harder. I wanted a mover that didn't look at the finances but to do their work properly, and I luckily found one. Long Distance Van Lines is the ideal mover with favorable quotations. I could include it in my budget and was okay. The quality of services I received was nothing compared to what I paid.

  13. My best mover.

There is no evading the fact that Long Distance Van Lines are the best mover in the industry now. I had a taste of their services, and I can attest to that. The team of experts in that company is out to make your relocation one of its kind and one like you have never seen before. They were at my house very early in the morning and helped finish packing. It didn't take long before we were on the road. Everything was safely delivered, and unpacking was no challenge since all the boxes had labels to help us identify them. Simply the best.

  14. Fantastic Relocation.

My relocation to Alabama was one of its kind. It was exactly the type of move I had wished for, and I am grateful that I found the right people to make it happen. My husband and I had been looking for a move for about two weeks before a close family friend recommended Long Distance Van Lines. These guys are the real deal when it comes to long distance relocations. They ensured that nothing was left behind and that not even a single stuff was broken or damaged in any way. It deserved to be called fantastic.

  15. I recommend them.

Are you stuck and do not know where to look for a relocating company? Well, we all have been there especially when you thought that you had everything under control. We were moving to California, and my husband found this mover, Long Distance Van Lines, who handled our relocation efficiently. Not even a single property was misplaced or damaged. Now, this is the mover you need when having a long distance relocation and that is why I recommend them. You'll thank me later.
