  1. Awful.

    I would give zero star for this company! I had some items in storage for a few months( which cost me £184 a month, Which I thought it would be well taking care of because I was relocating to a new city. Unfortunately, most of my items were demaged, broken,scratched, missing and dirty. I don’t recommend Pickfords to anybody!! Awful, worse moving company that you can find!
    Not professional and seems not to care for its customers! They only care for customers money.

    Please do not use that company! Overpriced! Disappointed.

    We have used Pickfords before and they are expensive but I know they will be punctual, quick, careful and professional. They are also as flexible as they can be to meet your needs.

  3. Removal Service.

    Professional, punctual and efficient. Packed and delivered items on time. Pleasant staff. Sadly, significantly damaged my wardrobe, leaving it with multiple areas of damage. They also damaged the tallboy leaving it with a split on the top portion.

  4. Removal including packing.

    Our move involved two homes being moved into one and storage of furniture for a while. Logistics were arranged faultlessly by the office and the removal men were fantastic. They were concerned that we were happy with their service and in the three days of our move they worked a hard shift. We cannot speak highly enough: thoroughly pleasant and good at their jobs. Highly recommended.

    I have used Pickfords before and would have no doubts about recommending this company and its staff.  From the first contact with the administrative team, all was planned meticulously. The removal of my property into storage was completed by two friendly and hard working members of staff and went without a hitch.  Thank you again for looking after me.  You took the strain out of a stressful time.

  7. Appalling service Pickford’s removals.

    I have never experienced such a poor quality service in any sector. After leaving our home of 38 years, we knew our furniture would have to go into storage for upto six months. On the day of moving the removals crew turned up two hours late, hung over from a Friday night on the drink. I twice asked the movers to unwrap articles on their way into the van as I had witnessed my brand new £4500 settee being dragged across the van floor with the arms in contact with the floor. We chose Pickfords as we thought they were the number one removal company and believed they would look after our belongings. My poor wife was a nervous wreck all throughout the storage period, anticipating the worst.

    Throughout the six month storage period we were advised on numerous occasions that we needed additional waiver insurances for everything under the sun which we had no choice but to take out to protect our assets.

    The team that delivered our furniture were the total opposite of the original team, professional, caring and punctual and came equipped with dismantling and assembling tools, unlike the first team who had to borrow our tools for this purpose.

    Unfortunately, we discovered that when our furniture had been removed from our house, our brand new TV had been dropped on our oak TV stand. Nevermind, we had the foresight to take out the additional insurance. That’s when the real distress started as we have battled for a month, so far receiving a low offer of a reconditioned £400 TV. We paid in total with insurances close to £4000 for six months storage, removal costs and insurances and we have now been offered £800 for a TV that we paid £1350 for.
    To get to the point, don’t fall for the salesman in the suit that Pickfords send out to quote you for your removal, they use local subcontractors to move your furniture and that’s where our move failed.

    I would never use Pickfords again and certainly wouldn’t recommend them under any circumstances.

  8. Excellent packers, appalling after-move service.

    We used Pickfords for a pack-and-move of a four-bed house, and found them very helpful beforehand. We needed to move at short notice and the move manager used their wider network to find us availability at the last minute.
    The movers themselves were brilliant - professional, friendly, and highly efficient - despite having travelled 2+ hours each way due to being out-of-area.
    On the other hand, our experience after the move has been atrocious. Our fridge was damaged in the move (these things happen I guess) but despite immediately reporting it and sending photos of the damage, we were offered firstly 10% of the value, and then a final offer of 50% of the value "because the damage could have happened for other reasons". Impossible to think how we could have done things differently such that we could prove it to their satisfaction, short of photographing everything in our house!
    This left a really nasty taste in our mouths after what was otherwise an excellent service. Thank goodness is was only a fridge and not something even more valuable.

    Hi Philippa
    I would just like to say that the removal from Pickfords on Monday was made so easy with the help of Lee and Sean.
    I was very anxious the morning of the move and thought it was going to be delayed because the lads were held up. I needn’t have worried as they got straight on and had the van packed really quickly. Nothing was a bother for them and they were very polite and professional.
    Once at the new house they got straight on emptying the van and were very careful with my stuff. A box split open with ornaments in and Sean was quick to check the contents and get the box fixed and resealed.
    I feel very lucky to have got such lovely lads to help me with my move.
    I would recommend them to anyone and if I ever need something moving again I won’t hesitate to get Pickfords and ask if I can get Sean and lee. Definitely made my move so much easier

  10. House move by Pickfords.

    Moved across our village (500 yards!) from a 4-bed to 5-bed house. Pickfords team were excellent. We had the full-packing service and they spread the job over two days. They disassembled (and then reassembled) beds, sofas and shelves and everything was moved on time and with no fuss - really took the stress away from the move. They worked hard with minimal rest breaks and were polite and courteous. The full-pack service was good value and worth every penny in my opinion and only £150 more than the non-packing service. Second time we've used Pickfords and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

  11. Full house move and pack.

    A very good seamless experience. The removal men were efficient and friendly. There was a little wait at our new property whilst the old people had not quite moved as fast. This did not seem to phase the removal men. I would use them again should I ever need to move again (which I wont).

  12. Shocking.

    We booked Pickfords on the strength of their perceived reputation; over six months and several reams of correspondence later, having had to spend time we can barely afford, together with haggling and the comment from Pickford's management about the removal teams: "well, they got the job done, didn't they?", we've received a fraction of our money back in compensation: not nearly enough to cover the stress and loss suffered. We'd had bad experiences before with removals firms and assumed that, if we paid more, we were sure to get an excellent service. It was only a half hour move from our rented accommodation to our new house, and it was a disaster from day one: they under quoted, ie they couldn't fit all of the furniture into the van (we had to pay a clearance firm to finish the work), there were complaints from the removal men, both teams arrived saying they'd been called on at the last minute and weren't at all happy about it, they turned up in vans they weren't "used to" and without proper provisions, they came IN THE MIDDLE OF DECEMBER IN POURING RAIN WITHOUT FLOOR COVERINGS!! (I lost deposit money from the property rental company) - we'd booked for a two day service but, in dispute later, I had to email their original quote back to their head office to show them exactly what was booked, as they were telling us that we'd booked for a day and a half, and so many other mistakes it's just unbelievable, there was bad communication between the removal men and their managers, possessions were broken during the move, the team on day two complained, with reason, that the team on day one had only completed part of their work.. Overall: expensive, unprofessional, clueless, stressful - absolutely terrible! We've had much better service from "man and van" companies, and at a fraction of the cost. Don't go there.

  13. Excellent service.

    I was very impressed with the attitude of the team that helped with my move from York to Derby. They hadn’t been told that there were three flights of stairs, but they cracked on with the job anyway and had an excellent attitude. All of my items arrived with me, and the fragile packing service ensured that nothing was broken or chipped, including a box of wine glasses.

  14. Superb moving experience.

    Pickfords were excellent from start to finish. Our move was complex, involving storage and moving to the other end of the country. The gentleman who came to quote for us was professional and focused. He listened, and was not 'hard sell' at all.
    The Move Manager, Philippa, was exceptional, flexible and helpful. She was endlessly patient and calm with our ever changing completion date. They packed everything for us and it was in storage for 4 months. When it came to moving us into our new house, the crew who came, supervised by the wonderful Carl, were so hard working and cheerful. They moved everything down a hill and up at least one, often three flights of stairs in the sweltering heat. Nothing was too much trouble, and they handled our very heavy and old furniture with care.
    Upon unpacking I found everything had been packed with infinite care - not one item broken or lost.
    I really recommend Pickfords. They took all the stress out of a complex and difficult move and were totally professional. You really do get what you pay for!

    Pickfords made our house move so much easier. From start to finish the service we received was excellent,reliable, considerate, helpful and efficient. We highly recommend anyone in using the Garforth team. Can’t praise them enough.
