  1. Bait and Switch: Run

This company is a scam. Not only do they scam you, but they likely also scam their insurance companies through false claims. They begin the process with a very polite and professional-sounding salesperson. He will tell you everything you want to hear and give you a low and fair quote. This quote is non-binding, but they will tell you “The cost is a little more if you have more items and a little less if you have fewer." What they will not do is offer to see your items beforehand, promising you that your quote is likely going to be the correct price.

When it comes to pickup, they come on time and with a manager. They will immediately begin loading items onto their truck. After a good amount is already loaded, the manager will tell you that you have a lot more items than quoted. Items you listed will somehow be missing from their list, and you will be told you never gave them the full inventory. In our case, a 2-bedroom was said to be around 4600, but the manager explained it will now be 8100. By then, you really don't have a choice but to agree due to how much is already loaded and because most of us are in a time crunch. The manger will pressure you into signing things by telling you to sign quickly, arguing with you over the estimate and the final total, and using "I've done this for x years, so I know what I'm talking about." He will hand you a pen and tell you to sign in multiple places, while never showing you the backside of the contract with all the legal items.

After the pickup, they transfer your items to an undisclosed warehouse, where your items will remain for weeks (multiple weeks minimum; it took us close to a month to finally receive our things). They write you an initial “guaranteed” delivery date on your contract, but then their dispatch refers you to the back of the contract which explains there is a federally mandated 21 business days they can actually take to deliver, despite not explaining this to you beforehand. The dispatch manager, who probably has one of the worst customer service attitudes ever, will tell you everything was clearly explained even though it really is not. During those days, they will keep telling you “It’s a few more days," and then they'll give you an excuse that something happened (not enough labor, then bad weather, then the truck broke down). They will also belittle you and ignore the majority of your calls as they keep repeating the same spiel that "Everything is clearly explained to you. If you want to pick up your items yourself, go ahead. I don't know when the driver is going to reach you." Dispatch even resorted to cursing at us stating "Come at me, b***h. Sue me. If you want your s**t, come pick it up yourself," and immediately hanging up. Despite following up with them, they kept saying our belongings would be delayed another week by some technical issue. The manager who assisted us with the move also told us that we would get a discount because he "will file with insurance" (whatever that means).

When your items finally arrive about a month later (some reviewers state it took longer), you realize these people are brokers and your items are actually being delivered by a random third party. We ended up being told we owe another $1,500+ that was discussed at all any time prior due to some shuttle fee that’s slapped onto your online quote that they use as another contract. And, if you refuse to pay the fee, your items will be held hostage. However, when we told dispatch about our issue, they told us "it's not our problem." They didn't care if we're strapped for money or that they were passed the "guaranteed" 14 or 21 day mark (they constantly kept switching between the two over the phone), and will threaten to store your belongings in another location and charge you for holding the items.

Also, if you booked a hotel, I apologize because you will be about 3-4k in the hole due to lack of communication on their part. They will never give you a clear ETA until the day of. You will also not get your discount.

One last warning is that your items may be damaged. We had several items that were broken, scuffed, or dented during the move. When you get your boxes, they will look like someone dropped them or stacked them very poorly.

We spent our Christmas in a hotel because of this poorly- operated company. Our advice is do not put yourself through the emotional stress we went through. They will bait and switch you for your money, lie to you about a delivery time, damage your belongings, yell at you and belittle you, and hurt third party movers they broker with. We are going to report them to the to the FMCSA (888-368-7238), Attorney General of Texas (800-621-0508), Texas DMV (888-368-4689), Better Business Bureau (703-276-0100), Federal Trade Commission (877-382-4357), social media, and to our credit card companies. If you also need help, you can report them to these numbers and share your story. You may even get compensated alongside preventing future victims.

  2. Most dishonest company I have ever encountered. Run as fast as you can

I gave this company several chances before leaving this review. But they have yet to respond and I feel I’ve been robbed and lied to and talked to like I was their child and my items threatened to be held for ransom. I’ve already left a complaint with the BBB to give them a chance to correct it, but no response. So, here they are. I got an initial quote of $2762 for a little under 700 cf of inventory. After going through my inventory and calling them back 2 times to update said inventory. The movers arrived and said I had closer to 900 cf and quoted me double the price. How 200 cf doubles the price, I will never understand. After negotiating, we decided to leave some of our stuff there and put it in storage. Yet another expense. Not to mention the expense of having to take another cross country trip to get our last few items. It ended up being $1600 more for our move. $1600 we didn’t have. I expected some difference, maybe a few hundred dollars, but this is ridiculous. They also told me when I booked it with them that it would take 7-10 business days for my stuff to be delivered and they would store my stuff for 30 days included in the cost of the move. I was told this by [NAME EDIT] and [NAME EDIT]. Both of whom were friendly and trustworthy as far as I could tell. We did not have a place down in Fl. yet, so when we got here, we had something within a week. Knowing it would take 7 days, we called the movers with that kind of window. I spoke with [NAME EDIT] and asked her what was the time frame. Because we wouldn’t be there until 7 days later. She said the driver would call me the next day. He did and said he would be there the following day. That’s a 2 day turn around. He also quoted me $900 more than what I owed. I called michelle and told her we had a problem. She said the price didn’t seem right and then I told her about the date and how I was told it would take 7 days. So I called with that kind of leeway. She replied saying that she never told me that. I said 2 of your associates told me that. She started saying “you signed a contract, blah, blah, blah. You should have known, blah, blah, blah, and if I didn’t give them their money, she would leave my stuff where they were and would make me come get it. I replied with, you do that, you’ll be giving me my money back. She screamed and accused and talked to me like I was her child saying I quote “try me” what kind of lowlife talks to someone who’s dropping $4,400 into their company? I admittedly got nasty back and told her I was not willing to talk to her anymore. And she said she was the office manager. And basically said I should shut my mouth and take it if I wanted my stuff. I called [NAME EDIT] and [NAME EDIT] and after several tries, [NAME EDIT] spoke with me. He was kind, patient and explanatory. Gave me a straight answer about the amount owed, which was the price I expected and simply asked, what is the problem with the items being delivered within a day. I explained the problem and he said he would do everything he could to figure it out. I contacted our [NAME EDIT] who let us move in 5 days early. I called [NAME EDIT] back and he said that was great. I asked for the owner’s name and contact info and no one would give it to me. I even extended my apologies to [NAME EDIT] because I didn’t want my stuff broken. My stuff arrived and the movers were actually great. We bought them lunch, tipped them, and all my stuff was in tact. He asked how many cf it was because he was trying to determine how long they would be there, I said 900 is what I paid for. He finished unloading the truck and said “maam, this def wasn’t 900 cf. “I said how much would you say it was?” He said “maybe 600” so they stole $1600 from me. All this was happening while I was going to my fathers funeral and burial.Horrifyingly inconsiderate. I haven’t gotten so much as an apology for how I was treated. So, basically, run for the hills from this company unless you want to be lied to, swindled, your stuff held for ransom and talked down to by trash named [NAME EDIT]. This company should fire her immediately and promote [NAME EDIT] because he knows how to work customer service. I wish I could give negative stars for michelle and the mover who picked up my stuff and 5 stars for [NAME EDIT] and the movers who delivered my stuff.

  3. Should have read these reviews

I spoke to Tommy twice and he seemed to be pushy and rude person. He wanted me to commit “right now” if we wanted to use their company. I told him I am waiting for another quote and will call him back to compare. He hung up on me which is good. At least I did not give a $7000 worth of business to someone who lacks basic manners.

  4. Friendly staff

Texas Moving arrived a little early and moved all of my stuff in an expedited manner. The staff was friendly and didn't slack off at any point.

  5. Texas Movers Group

I had a generally bad experience with this company due mainly to poor communication after the pick up and price changes. They disputed my first review, so I will tell my personal experience. My initial contact was with Tommy Lee and I trusted him. We had great conversations about restaurants in Williamsburg etc. I liked the estimate and the price he quoted. He sent me information about why to trust Texas Movers over other companies. I paid for one half of the price up front. He was very responsive...until after my furniture was on the truck. Never responded once after that. Pick up was fine except that the price went up immediately because the driver's visual estimate. I think it went up by about $600. Well, I had to have the stuff loaded so I had no choice. The movers did a fine job packing things up. After that I had trouble getting someone on the phone. Michelle was who I was told to call. She was very nice at first but became harder to reach. After a month I became worried. My desperate attempts to reach out were not satisfactorily addressed. I finally resorted to asking them to contact me on their Facebook page. My message was deleted and I was blocked from commenting on their page. The driver finally called me and said he could not make the turn into my cul-de-sac and would need to add $700 to the price in order to rent another truck. At this point I was very upset. We spoke with Michelle who tried to help but would also yell at us in an unprofessional way. She did lower the price for renting the truck to $400 or $500. So then two very nice men showed up to deliver the furniture. They seemed like they were overwhelmed by the job. They did not seem to have good communication with the Michelle to me. I had to pay in cash before unloading the truck. The price on the bill of lading had been increased after pick up. This was another reason I was upset. I told Michelle I would not pay more than what I was told to pay upon delivery by the driver (except of course I had to pay for the extra truck rental.) To sum up, communication was not good. I was very upset that Tommy Lee did not respond to any emails after my pick up. I trusted him. Michelle is ok but overwhelmed and starts yelling when you express frustration. The price changed. They block bad comments and unsatisfied users from their Facebook.

  6. Best Company in texas

I have good experience with Texas movers Group of moving company.they take care of goods and safely reached at my new house. They take time but depart at good conditions.thanks Owner for good keeping of me

  7. Zach and his team

Terrible people, terrible movers. Broke a large portion of our furniture. Forsure scammers. Avoid at all costs. Pick a legit moving company, and this is not it. They charge deluxe premium prices for awful service. Complete bozos. They often get subcontracted through trig moving company as well as golden standard. Straight up garbage. They didn’t even clean up and take their trash. Trashy company , trashy people, trashy service

  8. Great work

These guys did a great job--they came over to our place when we hadn't packed a thing, packed us up, moved us, and made it all pretty painless. Scheduling was easy and their prices were competitive, and they were friendly to boot. Great work! I will totally recommend this company!

  9. Good Job

I used them to move four bedrooms apt, and I was very happy with the service. They did a very good job on handling. Happy with the service. I would definitely use them again

  10. Customer Service and Billing

I would never recommend this company to anyone due to the pricing/explanation. The initial estimate is no where near what they actually bill. Management is terrible and do not treat the customer with any respect whatsoever, interrupted me throughout every call (Michelle in particular. All she did was disagree with everything I said and tell me how I was incorrect).

I had an initial issue with billing. When Zach loaded my boxes into the truck, I had to sign for what the final amount was. At this point, I was in a bind to not be able to adjust or 'shop' around. I had to move since it was to a different state. I wasn't forced to sign (or as Michelle put it, 'no one had a gun to your head to sign') but essentially I had no other options, and had already paid a deposit. I had an initial inventory list of 38 items, and they picked up 57. I was expecting an increase of 1.5x to the initial estimate because there wasn't any larger pieces, just medium sized boxes. It was closer to 2.1x. This didn't add up, so they started going into the fine print. They needed to box 3 items for us due to size and cover liability (totally understand, no argument). Then they said the boxes were large to extra large, not medium. That made no sense to me because Brian and I went over the dimensions earlier and they were Home Depot Medium Boxes. That made no sense to me how they could argue it was Large to Extra Large boxes

I said that it's fine, I wasn't looking for a refund in any way, but the initial estimate was way off then. I chose them based off of this estimate and that it was bad business. I don't necessarily care if that's how the overall business works, I disagree with having to argue with the small disclaimer print, especially when they told me that they can give the best price/estimate or match it. Estimates are easy to keep low if they don't mean anything.

I did have some positives with this group. Brian was fantastic to work with. He was punctual, worked well with me, and was able to communicate effectively. The workers and drivers were fantastic as well. Great to talk to and they enjoyed their work.

DO NOT WORK WITH MICHELLE. She is awful to the customer and showed no respect to me in any way. Terrible customer service. I would rather pay twice as much and be treated with respect than have to deal with her again.

Work with any other moving company.

  11. Excellent Service

During the pandemic making a move to a bustling city like Houston seemed impossible to me and my family. But relocation was necessary, hence, we began our search for the right movers who can help us and after contacting three to four companies we found Texas Movers Group and they made our move to Houston from Dallas a hassle-free affair. Thanks team TMG!

  12. Long Distance Move - Do not recommend.

Unfortunately, I would recommend running far away from this company. We scheduled a cross-country move with this company, with packing included. Every interaction was characterized by incompetence and lack of professionalism. We ended up paying ~$800 more than quoted on the day of the move and many of our items ended up broken or damaged. Further detail:

Scheduling: Scheduling with Bryan went smoothly (~2 months beforehand) and we requested an overestimate on price to make sure we were within budget. We chose a two day window of Sunday/Monday for the move. However, on Friday, we had not received confirmation of date/time of the move. After calling multiple times, the dispatcher, Brigitte, called to change the date to Saturday, the very next day. She told me I did not have a choice regarding the change, until I brought up that we had signed a contract that stated pickup would be Sunday or Monday. She then confirmed a pickup for Sunday.

On the next evening (less than 24 hours before our scheduled pickup), Brigitte called again and stated that the pickup had to be changed to Monday. During the phone call, she did not apologize or express any sympathy for the last minute change, and when I expressed that I felt this was unprofessional, she responded saying that "this isn't unprofessional, we could have just not shown up at all." So that's apparently the bar.

Day of move: The movers arrived in the morning without the call we were told we would receive prior to their arrival. As others have mentioned, our cost the day of the move increased ~$800 despite selling one big item (a dresser) and packing many items on our own. The movers were very efficient and worked well, but I do have to note that we had to remind them multiple times to wear masks while inside our home. I understand that it is difficult while working, but the company assured us beforehand that masks were required from their company.

Delivery: While Bryan had assured us that delivery would take 2-4 days and that we would receive an estimated delivery date, we were given no estimated date and told to continue to call the office every few days to check on the delivery. I received a call on Saturday at around 6:00 PM to state that the drop off would be on the next morning, Sunday, between 9:00 and 11:00 AM (again, receiving less than 24 hours notice). Then at 10:00 PM, the driver called again, and suddenly change the drop off time to 12:00 PM. However, the driver did not arrive at 12PM and after calling both the office and the driver multiple times, the time was pushed back to 2PM. They finally arrived at 2:15 PM.

The driver insisted on being paid and us signing the documents before even seeing that they had our items. The signature includes acknowledging that our items are there, accounted for, and unbroken. When we refused to do this, the office called and threatened us that if we did not pay and sign within 5 minutes, they would leave with our things. Having no choice, we signed and paid. Of course, when unloaded, we found multiple broken or damaged items: a fully destroyed coffee table, dented fridge, broken/dented garbage cans, and a missing box (including a google home). However, we are unable to file missing claim paperwork, because the driver/we "signed off" on the items being there/unbroken before unloading. I imagine that this has to be illegal, if not just incredibly unethical.

Overall, this moving experience was more stressful than any that we had done on our own. The company was incredibly rude and unprofessional at every turn and we ended the contract paying more than estimated and with multiple broken and damaged items. At this point, I would recommend literally any other company before choosing this one.

  13. Long Distance Move.

As others have said they give you a low bid. Once they arrive the quote doubles. This is an amateur moving company. My quote moved from 1400 to 2800. Run away from Bryan and the rest of these dishonest people. The truck that arrived was barely drivable and only one person to unload the truck. If we didn’t help, the guy would have taken longer. This is not a moving company. Dishonest amateur movers. Avoid them at all cost. B.

  14. Never Again!!

CUSTOMERS BEWARE! If money and transparency is important to you then please take the time to read and reevaluate!! Initially, the sales representative Bryan and manager Mike that I spoke with was so helpful and kind when assessing my inventory via phone. Other mover companies wants a video assessment but this company did not, which should have been my first clue, but Bryan assured me that they were “not like other moving companies” that hike up prices once they arrive to pick up the items. I told them I needed only my bedroom set picked up from my home and other items picked up from a 10x10 storage (that wasn’t even completely full). The sales rep did a verbal inventory of all the items I had and all was well. They quoted me for $1659 which I signed off on. Fast forward to today (move day) and several “assurances” later, the movers came and marked up the price substantially! They doubled in price saying it would now be $3400!! For a 1 bedroom apartment?!? Out of their minds! They told me that my 10x10 is measuring out to 800 cubic feet and the sales rep has calculated 467 cubic feet. Even though they admitted that it was issue on THEIR end and that apparently their computer didn’t calculate my 10x10 storage, they asked me whether or not I was going to move forward with the move! Even the paperwork I signed off on states they will be making a second stop to a 10x10 storage, but no one mentioned the price changing and I called them back numerous times about other questions I had.

This company preys on people who are in time crunch to move. They give you their assurances that they won’t hike up the price when they get to your home, have you sign off on this “final price”, take your deposit, and then wait until they are out in your front yard to double the price. This place is a joke!! My advise is definitely go with a movers company that will take a visual assessment before coming to move. They do this for a reason! But it’s definitely a learning lesson. Luckily, I have another week and other options to choose from so I wasn’t in a tight time crunch so I was desperate enough to pay double the price FOR THEIR MISTAKE. They wasn’t even accommodating or trying to be held accountable! I spoke to Bridgett the manager (who went from very friendly the other times I spoke to her to downright RUDE on move day) asked me “ So do you want my movers to move you or not?!” How about NOT!? (I apologize for grammar errors as I am writing this in a very irritated state).

  15. Great move.

If you're searching for a mover in Texas, look no further. These guys were cool, hardworking, and they handled everything with such care, These guys really took care of my things for me and I have a lot of really bulky hard to manage furniture. Getting the pool table out of the basement was a hard thing to do on its own. True professionals, they worked fast and didn't scratch a thing, thank your Texas movers group.
