  1. Don't Use Federal Gateway Moving

We moved some furniture, clothes, and bikes from St. Louis to Montana. We purchased the extra replacement insurance. When the movers arrived from Federal/Gateway Moving and Storage (Allied) out of St. Louis, they assured us they would wrap all furniture in blankets. They actually did a great job with that. What we didn't know, is all that blanket wrapping comes off at the ST. Louis warehouse. They then place everything in a large cardboard box which is actually what gets moved. With shoving everything in the big box, they strapped a brand new, never been used, solid elm, from the factory, Amish Kitchen table set into the box so tightly, they dented every chair with the strap marks. It's very obvious. The chairs and table had the manufactures original thin plastic sleeves on it to protect from scratching. They removed bike handles, breaks, petals and tires so they could shove the bikes into the large cardboard box. We filed a claim for the damaged chairs and bikes. Of course they paid nothing on the claim because we couldn't prove the chairs weren't damaged prior to shipping. They told us they couldn't see the chairs prior to shipping due to the plastic sleeves on them and the actual moving men failed to take them off prior to wrapping them in blankets. The insurance company indicated we should have left the sleeves off. That would have been nice to know prior to shipping. Thus, no payment for the strap mark damage. Bike damage was under the deductible, so nothing for that either. So, in conclusion. I would ABSOLUTELY not use Allied. I would NOT use Federal Gateway. They misrepresent how they are going to protect your goods. Use a moving POD, or move yourself, or find your own truck so you can see how it's protected. If you use a large moving company, don't waste the money on extra insurance since they won't pay. Take detailed pictures PRIOR to shipping, and have the movers sign the pictures. Also, no one ever calls you back from Allied, or Federal Gateway, or their insurance company.

  2. They do not refund the damage.

The worst company ever. Do not use!!
They damaged a lot on my furniture. The customer service never respond. I have to buy new furniture. Even though I paid a lot of money for moving.

  3. Contract for DOOR TO DOOR MOVE.

Gateway moving & relocation, San Jose, Costa Rica is not honoring their contract with me. To move my small shipment of household goods from Alajuela, Costa Rica to California, USA.
In a shared container shipment to arrive in Miami, FL Oct 4, 2019.
Sept 30,2019 Gateway sent me a bill to be paid in full or my shipment would be put on hold and I would have to pay $350.00 a month until I did.
Alvaro Gago, General Manager at Gateway signed the contract with me. Contract is Door to Door, to reach my new apartment by 22 days from packing date, includes 20 days FREE storage in Miami, Fl, be directly delivered & set inside my door. And AFTER shipment was delivered could be paid by Credit Card.
Now, Gateway will NOT deliver my shipment, nor accept credit card payment. Put shipment on Hold in Miami,FL in storage.
I ask for a Bill of Lading but have no response from Gateway.

  4. Gateway movers.

This company is horrible can't get anyone to talk to won't return calls I wouldn't recommend this company ever.

  5. Terrible Experience - Gateway Moving.

If you don’t read any more of this review, take your money elsewhere and use an honest moving company. Gateway was a SCAM from the beginning. One of their “sales” associates, TYSH gave me a call one day for a moving quote from Ohio to Oklahoma. Come to find out everything out of her mouth was a lie and she only cared about her commission bonus. She even had the nerve to call me on MEMORIAL DAY and asked why I hadn’t submitted my down payment for the move so that she can receive her bonus LOL. Amazing that someone like this even has a job to begin with. So she gave us a quote, promised it would be there in 3-5 days since it was “peak moving season” then after we agreed to this, we were handed over to their dispatch team and never heard anything helpful from her again.
After the contract was signed, they changed the original delivery window to 30 DAYS, not the original 3-5 day window given by TYSH.
Long story short, we did not get our belongings in 3-5 business days, it took over ONE MONTH to get to our destination. During this time, when you call their customer service number, you interact with DELILAH (absolutely terrible), MARCUS and BENJAMIN, just to name a few. They are never apologetic and choose to talk over you when you’re trying to speak. It’s amazing that a business like this even exists. Arrogant, lying and prideful employees who are working for a scam of a company. Life is too short to work with people like this. Do yourself a favor use anyone else for your next move.

  6. Never Use!!

I have reported this company and Allstates Moving and Storage to the BBB and to the American Movers Association as well as the Senator. They have damaged or lost a total of $17k of my furniture and belongings. I expect full payment..or these businesses will be shut down permanently and I will see to it that nothing like this happens to another person in the future.

  7. Tysh Alex.

Gave me a great price with three easy installments and spoke about company's who broker deals said there company was not a broker ? My move was from Michigan to Florida Alex showed up 5 hours late did a walk through and said the move would cost 42500 more then what I was quoted and also wasn't able to bring all of my stuff because his truck wasn't big enough ? I was very upset but signed contract hoping to renegotiate after the fact " big mistake" he was also by his self with his girlfriend , ,my friend had to help get stuff on truck. Don't use this company they are crooks and supposedly took my stuff to Illinois never adjusted the price. And have auctioned my stuff in Miami funny how my stuff got there when it was supposed to be in Illinois. so my whole experience has been a nightmare so please do your homework on moving company's.
I should have told him to get lost but had to start a new job so feel like a ass but going to share and report them to help prevent this from happening to someone else.

  8. Bunch of Con artist WORST COMPANY EVER.

Crocks from the start, I scheduled a move from TX to FL with Amanda Bates ( fake name) she gave me a good estimate and said "she overestimated so that I would not have to pay more" I was charged $930.46 more. She also said she would be with me through the whole move. After I signed papers I only spoke to her one more time after weeks and weeks of attempts. She had guaranteed me by phone that our stuff would arrive on the 12th if they could pick it up on the 5th After items were packed the driver said he was heading straight to FL. On the 12th I was not able to get ahold of anyone for days FINALLY John Chavez ( another fake name) told me they had 14 days from drop off date we received our items 19 days and over half our items destroyed. Wet boxes broken items etc Just like everyone else's stories Talked to Delilah Thompson Many many times and got nowhere Also no response for my claim against them as of yet but I am sure I will get the same answers as the rest.

  9. Gateway Moving and Storage STINKS.

Stay away from these people! They are terrible. Here's my moving experience with them:
I contracted Gateway to move the contents of an apartment from Ohio to Kansas. The estimate was for 726 cubic ft of goods at a cost of $2,998. When the movers came on Dec. 19 (2 days late), they ARRIVED AT 10:30 AT NIGHT. At 2:30 a.m. they had loaded about 80% of the apartment’s contents, and the driver told me that he still had about 100 cubic feet of space left of the estimated 726. Since I had a 7:30 a.m. flight, I had to leave the apartment and go to my motel before all the loading was completed. The driver told me that would be fine but did not provide any information about likely additional cubic feet.
The next day I received a text saying that the load had supposedly come to 1320 cf and that I would be charged an additional $2250. When I called Gateway to express my surprise, a dispatcher told me he could reduce my final delivery charge by $504.
When the movers arrived in Jan. 2019 to deliver the goods to a 10’ X 10’ X 14’ storage unit, I was required to pay the remaining $2994 of the bill in advance of any unloading. After that work was complete, I measured the space the goods occupied in the storage unit. It came to slightly under 790 cubic feet. Hence, Gateway had overcharged me by 530 cubic feet or $1745.
On Feb. 2, I filed a claim with Gateway for the overcharges, providing substantial documentation, including photos to verify how much space the goods in the unit took up. Gateway informed me that processing my claim could take up to 120 days.
After hearing nothing for 4 months, I called the company on June 19 and was flatly told that my claim was being denied. When I asked why, the person (named Marley) said that I would have to prove that the household goods filled a unit of 900 cubic feet or less. When I asked how he expected me to do that, he gave no answer. When I told him I was very upset at his decision and I would file a complaint with Better Business Bureau he said, “Okay,” laughed and eventually hung up.

  10. Complete scam.

Stay away from this company - they are a complete scam. They will low ball your quote, despite being provided exact measurements of all items, and then upon arrival the quote is miraculously doubled. You are given the option to have them unload items for the truck (and pay for it) or move all of your inventoried items (and pay for it).

On top of that, they lost large glass panels for my coffee table (worth hundreds of dollars) and their only compensation was $24.

On top of that I had to chase them down for over a month in order to speak to someone regarding the missing items. I left several voicemails and not one was returned.

Do your research and check BBB reviews.

  11. Gateway Moving and Storage, Hallandale, FL.

Please if you want all your furniture delivered in a timely manner and without being lost or ruined do not use this company. They lost the legs to my dinning room table, broke a leg off my cedar chest, ruined my kitchen set which was brand new plus ruined my $400 bike, broke a standing fan, lost my husbands tools, just to name a few things.

  12. The worst experience.

Do not believe these good reviews. Do not use this mover! They took 25 days to move from Chicago to north Georgia. I had to stay at hotels for over 3 weeks and spent about $3000 for accommodation. They also charged much more than the estimate. I moved from very small 1-bed apartment, I lived by myself, I didn’t have too many stuff. The moving cost was about $2700. So I spent $5700 at total. I never ever recommend to use this mover unless you like to spend money for [EDIT] service. Besides that, they broke my shoe rack and damaged my furniture.

  13. Horrific customer service. Awful experience.

TL;DR Do not use this company. They are not rated by BBB. Use my story as a cautionary tale. I would wish this company on anyone.

The price of my moved jumped from $5,0000 to $8,000 (plus additional fees at time of delivery) at the time of pick up. Despite having provided them with a complete inventory of goods (even having sold a desk, armoire, and rug- opening up more space I had paid for on the truck), and using their algorithm to calculate the amount of boxes for a one bedroom move, they determined I needed almost 300 sq ft more than what they sold me, resulting in the massive price increase. No one could tell me how it was so grossly underestimated when having an inventory of my belongings.

The delivery was made 14 days PAST the 21 day window for delivery. When I filed for compensation, my claim was denied based on "a recording" they claim to have where I was not available for the initial delivery date. When pressed, they will not share with me/play for me the recording they had used to base their decision on.

In addition to the pricing nearly doubling, the extreme lateness of my delivery, I also encountered issue with the moving team. I hired the movers to pack, and when they arrived (at 4 pm instead of the 9-11 am window they were scheduled) they were totally unaware of packing part of the contract. And while they were at my house, they repeatedly made inappropriate comments and advances toward me.

I am a woman who was making this move alone and because of this the driver other mover saw no issues with repeatedly asking me for my phone number, asking if I would date someone with children, or telling me how much more attractive I would be if I grew my hair out. Fearing possible violence that could happen if I rejected their advances, I tried to ignore their advances and leave the room after each time it happened. I spoke with one woman in customer service who was apologetic and recommended I file a complaint; I also mentioned it to the employee working with my claim. He accused me of bringing it up "at the last minute" despite having spoken with CS about it. He had claimed to have listened to all of my recorded conversations, but claims he never heard the exchange between me and the CS associate about the situation. He followed up by giving me his opinion on how I should have reacted in the situation and because I did not tell them to stop, I must have not "actually" felt unsafe.

That is just a fraction of the issues I encountered with this company. Do yourself a favor and use any other moving company.

  14. Damaged Property.

This company did a lot of damage to my things. Could not get a hold of anyone to express my frustrations. This company sucks at returning phone calls and emails. Lawyer up is my next solution to getting my things replaced.
