  1. Dishonest.

We just made from NJ to MI. The move got off to a good start as Sydney setup a time to do our quote. After that everything was handled in a very dishonest way. They lied at every step. The quote went from $8,000 to $ 11,000 because they said the movers needed to make 2 trips to load our stuff, even though everything fit on one truck. Second we were told by Sydney that our second payment could be made by credit card with an additional fee. When we tried to make our second payment with the mover we were told that only cash was acceptable. The customer service was the worst I have ever dealt with. We were suppose to get a call from their QA department prior to the move, which also never happened. I could go on and on but my advise is to stay away from Silver Star Moving Group..

  2. Portland, Or to Phoenix, AZ; Bonnie McCulley.

First off, my husband is a 98 yr old veteran. He is a chaplain and I work as Director in a Hospital - Leading Mission Integration, values and spiritual support. We care for people and live our lives with integrity. I can’t say that about this company.

I called this company to see if they could meet a delivery deadline of July 1 - 3 and work back from then. George checked with someone and said that was possible and gave us a date.

Then he said that they worked with veterans and will take good care of us. He talked me out of another company stating "we are more experienced and they have bad record". The initial estimate was higher but he said he would give a veteran discount. Ha! Customer service took a down payment but. They said we can't guarantee deliveries. I told her that George said it was possible if we put down the date needed and work back from that. She checked with someone and came back and said, OK. It was recorded but not written down anywhere.

Lies. I should have listened to the people who work inside these broker companies. One person said:
"I did look into Silver Star for you a couple of days ago. And while your customer service experience may have been good to date, I'm just letting you know to be careful. Be aware of when you get their Quality Assurance call 3 days or so before your move [they may try to find ways to add a lot of items to raise the price. All companies do this but with this company I am working for they are not as aggressive]. And lastly, again to try to help you, be aware of what Carrier they use. They will immediately try to raise the price of your move when they come to your home. With all my heart, may God's blessings and favor rest on you and your husband.-J" I have more reports like this one.

It turned out to be true. I went from $6,000 to $11,000 and still may owe more.I was told by Quality that they charge by weight and I may get reimbursed some money but it is by volume. I had a detailed list. The carrier comes immediately charges you more. They are rough with your items. The worst company I have ever worked with. The Carrier is Northwester - GTS Shipping. Their reviews are worse than this company.

What can you do at the last minute? You are stuck. I was over on some boxes so I left 25 folding chairs. I said I could leave my exercise equipment to keep the price low. I couldn't even take a garbage can or trade out items. He also said, “I hate working with customers from Silver Star.

I am so afraid. I had to leave my 98 yr old veteran husband in AZ and come back to work in OR. So my husband is sleeping on a cot so someone can be there when they do carrier decides to come. My items remains in Oregon at GTS shipping. They say we have up to 18 days from the preferred day of delivery – July 1. I am told I will be informed 24-48 hrs before they will arrive. So I am supposed to get airfare and get there.

Thank God there are veterans that have heard about our experience and they are helping us. They will also help spread the word about these brokers and carriers.

These reviews are true. I pray with all my heart that you run the other way. I could have rented a Penske truck for $2000 (26 ft), hired packers and/or loaders and even a driver. I was stupid. Please work with direct van lanes and who come in to your home to give a prices. You are paying Brokers to scam you out of money. I know that is true from my other 4 moves.

I am sick that my husband is by himself. I have no idea when my stuff will arrive. According to the reviews for GTS it looks like many items could be lost and broken. Then you go through a hellish experience getting reimbursed. I left behind a lot of furniture to save on expenses but it didn't help.

I will continue to get the word out. Please take these reviews seriously. I am going to do an article in AAA and other media resources. I want to bring awareness to this problem. If we can help a few people, then it is worth it.

  3. Moving disaster.

I wish I could give negative stars. Absolute crooks. My belongings were picked up on May 22. It is now June 26 and I’m sleeping on an air mattress in an empty apartment. I get multiple stories as to the location of my possessions- in a storage facility, on a truck, about to get on a truck, etc. Owners refuse to call me. A man who refused to identify himself to me threatened to “light my stuff on fire” because my boyfriend rightfully got angry with him on the phone. Law enforcement seems unable to help so I am persuing other ways to shut them down. Avoid Silver Star and Interstate Relocation at ALL COSTS.

  4. Poor Customer Service and Communication Skills.

If you book with these movers after seeing all the negative comments on them, please DO NOT be upset at anyone else but yourself when your move becomes a nightmare. This is what I had to tell myself. I saw the negative comments but still booked them based off price. Please do not do this. There are somethings in life worth paying a little more for and a peace of mind during a moving process is one of them. I won’t go through everything that transpired. But I will say this. This company should not even be allowed to mislead and abuse the customer’s trust the way that they do.. Book at your own Risk.

  5. Weight Off My Shoulders!

Initially I got bombarded with phone calls but then got a text message from a gentleman named Nick Manfredi. Once I got home from work I gave Nick a call and we did the inventory in my house through a virtual FaceTime which I thought was awesome! There was no discrepancies on what I did or didn't have.the boomers were about an hour and a half late a little bit less but I live in a highly populated area and the snowbirds have not went back home yet so traffic can be tuff. Other than that everything went perfect , they dissembled everything and bubble wraps all of my expensive antique furniture, packed ALL my boxes (which I have to admit I was worried about because I thought things might have gotten broken if they did not do it correctly)but they did it better then I would have lol! I literally sat back had a glass of wine and just pointed my finger. They delivered it one day early which was excellent for me.. This move was due to a job relocation so I really needed my stuff for work (thanks guys). During delivery day brought everything back into my new place reassembled everything carefully and even help me place my pictures on my wall.. Again I was having some wine during the process. The one thing I really liked about the company is they color coded every item with a barcode as well so when it came down to delivery they had an inventory sheet that got checked off with every item being moved off the truck. Nothing was damaged and that's probably because they packed it instead of me LOL.. I thought this movie was going to be super stressful it was exactly the opposite thank you so much for all your help I will recommend you to any and everyone! Cheers!!

  6. Excellent customer service and reliability! 5 stars!!

Awesome and efficient moving company! Took all my worries and made them their own by making my transition so easy and care free. Very careful with my possessions and even moved everything where I wanted it and hung items for me:) Thanks so much guys.. I will definitely be using them for any move and highly recommend anyone to do so as well!

  7. Unbelievable.

    Scammed for about 4k

Given quote for 3k - which didn't bind anything
Movers showed up and charged 7k
If I knew I was going to pay 7k, I wouldn't have moved my stuff

Worst scam of my life - I was a victim, please don't be one.

  8. North American Relocation - Rebranded Criminals.

Stay far far away. Positive reviews here are planted so that they can have a high rating, and bring in more people to scam.

They will lie and steal from you. Look at all those negative reviews.. do you think people have time to make up lies?

Nope. This moving company is crooked. Scammers who will fast talk you and then run.

Talentless hacks who can't possibly be more than they are.

  9. Look Elsewhere Before Hiring this Company.

My wife selected this company because it was the most responsive of the few she called. They promised her they could meet the timeline, and to their credit, they did. However, before I realized she hired this company for more than $5,000, I had several quotes quite literally for thousands less. The people who moved the belongings were actually from another moving company, US Movers. The first crew was courteous and moved with purpose and efficiency. The only problem was the additional charges for exceeding the number of items. However, the movers counted beds as numerous pieces whereas the inventory said one bed with a parenthetical reference which indicated a frame, mattress and box spring. I was not happy with that hiccup, but perhaps my mistake. Once the movers arrived at the destination house (late), the crew was blatantly careless with the packages, resulting in several items being broken. When I contacted the company, while they were indeed apologetic, they referred me to an insurance company that handles the claims. Still waiting for resolution while I get to dry my clothes at the laundromat. They charged a premium price, but the service fell far short of premium, and quite honestly, I am frustrated with what I received for more than $5,000.00. Expected far more.

  10. Misleading law breaking company.

They quoted us at $3000 move then 6 days before the move said that the wanted paperwork from are last move to help with inventory after the raised the price to $7000. We asked why well that's an estimate of weight we gave an estimate a little higher than last time. Even though we have less things. They knew I was moving for a job and strong armed us into staying with them. And if you ever talk to a guy named Cameron just say I don't want to talk to you. He is the definition of evil, he will say he is trying to help you by trying to rip you off more.

  11. Move from Delray Beach FL to Biloxi MS.

My wife and I had a very positive experience with the Silver Star Moving Group for our recent cross-country move from
Delray Beach, Florida to Biloxi, MS. All aspects of the move were done in a timely and courteous manner. The original quote given by Chris was spot on. There were some over-sights on our part that were rectified by Alex when he arrived at out house to pick up our load. The adjustment in price was fair and concise. The pick-up crew was very professional in deed and dress.
During the moving process the company kept us abreast of all developments by text and phone calls. The timing estimate of the total move was stellar. The furniture was picked up on Wednesday, May 1, and delivered on Thursday May 9, at 9 am. The delivery crew led by Norberto called us before the delivery. The furniture was off-loaded in an hour and a half.
All in all, it was a positive experience for what could have been a stressful situation. Special kudos to Chris for initiating the process and being available every step of the way. We would highly recommend the Silver Star Group to any one considering a cross-country move.
    Robert and Tina Jordan.

  12. Learn from my mistake.

I only went with this company because I thought it was good to back fellow veterans. I also did not do my homework properly. If you look at the issues that this company has had I fell victim to being tricked into a binding contract similar to other complaints. First they estimated my move 1800 which is not great. Only because it was allegedly veteran owned I went with them. They called 4 days prior to my move to "update" the inventory list by 21 items. Mind you, I do not have much to moved. Mostly boxes. My largest items being couch, dresser, and queen sized bed. The "QA" guy has a poor reputation based on my research and has made a habit of scamming people. He updated my "estimate" to 2800 and I expressed concern he quickly tried to tell me not to worry, shrug it off, and should be adjusted based on weight. As I stated all of my belongings fit into a living room and I had everything ready to go. I called customer service because I began to stress about the extra thousand tacked on. Again, they basically comforted me into thinking that it would in fact be adjusted. Once the movers arrived 6 hours late, it took them only an hour to move my belongings. It wasn't until after all of my things were boxed up and ready to ship I was handed a final bill for over $3,000.00 (additional packing supplies plus "quote"). Completely unacceptable! Never in my life would I pay that much for a move as I do not have that many things. It is almost laughable. The movers sympathized with me and stated yes it appears that I was in fact misinformed and that they had baited me in. So at this point I was helpless and angry. I called customer service and they were just awful. I kept getting passed along until I spoke with one guy in customer service. He actually described it as a car sales business. "once its off the lot its yours". Are you kidding me? Then finally after about 4 days a manager finally called me and basically shoved it off like I misread the paper work. Then said he would send a compensation offer and a delivery date and call me to discuss. He only sent an email with a terrible offer. They knocked more off the original price for me being prior service than the compensation was. When I finally sent a follow up about the compensation email telling him it was not good and that I still didn't have a delivery date. They called right away and I was at work. I have filed a couple complaints already. This is unbelievable the way this has been mishandled. I do not wish this for you reading this. Please check out other options. If I had to do it over again I would have hung up when they initially called to avoid all of the stress and financial burden this has caused. Keep in mind this is $1200.00 OVER the original price. Who would agree to it? Besides someone who has gotten suckered into a bad deal. I would either have sold all of my belongings and started fresh, done the move myself, or taken my business elsewhere. Learn from my mistake. I haven't even gotten my belongings yet so next ill get to see what kind of condition they'll be in.

  13. Wonderful experience.

I recently moved cross-country and used this broker. It was a big and very involved move and handling the logistics myself was just too much. Fortunately, Silver Star made everything SO EASY. The sales staff were professional and very accommodating and customer service seamlessly guided me through the whole stressful situation. I've moved long distances several times and never has it been so well handled. Thank you Silver Star!!

  14. Silver Star Movers.

I talked to James from day 1. Was told from the beginning a price and took a deposit. We were told by weight. We were so misled and the pricing it tripled. Then Cameron was tried to appease us with no avail. I filed a formal complaint with the BBB. Then the price had come up and down on 3 separate occasions. I would love to talk to some one in charge D Wilks Richardson.

  15. Do not use.

When I first spoke with a member of this company they were very pleasant. They were helpful and easy to work with. However, once I got closer to the moving date, they sent me a new contract that was more than double the price less than 7 days before the move. They told me I had to come up with the additional $2500 in money order or cash. I had already paid the initial payment based on the first contract. *Do not ever do this.* Then they asked me for an additional 1000 less than a week before the move. I spoke with more than 3 different people and received 3 different answers on their form of payment at different times throughout the process. When the price doubled, I asked for my $709 back since they asked me to sign a new contract with a different amount of money owed because I was not going to use them. Luckily, I had other bids and the company I went with instead did not require any money up front. They came to my house for an accurate estimate and let me pay in full after the items were shipped from KC to MN in any form of payment I chose.
I spoke with the General Manager at Silver Start and he refused to refund the money. The other member I spoke with before that when he told me that the price doubled, we got into an argument about the difference between an end table and nightstand. He was very rude and to be honest, I was rude right back.
That is my experience but I thought it was worth sharing as I never received my money and they never contacted me as they said they would. I disputed it with my credit card company and still the business would not give me the money back. It is really sad, I would not work with them ever again.
    Thank you.
