  1. Excellent Service for Moving Yourself.

The driverof our truck that delivered our stuff to our new location was incredible. He had useful tips and was extremely helpful. he made our move so mch easier, nicer and better. Packing and loading your own belongings is the most affordable and best way to go if you can do it. It is pain-free, smooth and since you packed your own items, you have total control so there are no issues with worrying about other people handling your own stuff. These guys are easy to work with, professional and affordable. I will always recommend them and use them for all  my future moves.

  2. First Move.

As a college student, this was my first move ever and I have to say it went better than I thought it would! ABF did a great job, from customer service to being on time for pick up and delivery. They were able to move my stuff accross the country in 4 business days. While there were other companies that offered similar services for less, I didn't want to wait 10-14 business days for my posseions when I moved with no furniture. They were nice enough to give me a student discount, which saved me $75. I would recommend ABF to anyone, just be sure to confirm everything once you have it set up! I ended up having to change my destination address with them after I had initially set up the move. I called U-Pack and let them know but they hadn't notified ABF of the change until I called and made sure everything was correct. It was a small error, that was easily fixed once communication was clear between all parties. My stuff arrived at the right address so really that's all that matters.  .

  3. Awful Awful Awful Experience!

This is the WORST moving company I could have ever picked. This entire experience has been an absolute nightmare and my freight is delayed more than FOUR days! The trailer was dropped off in Massachusetts on a Friday where it was loaded full of furniture and promptly picked up Tuesday morning (which was already late because we called them to pick up the trailer Monday). On Wednesday morning, I spoke with an ABF representative who told me my furniture would be here in Kentucky Friday between 8-12. I said that would be perfect and arranged for family to help moving my furniture out of the trailer. Thursday morning, I called to let the ABF destination terminal know who would be there on Friday to sign for the trailer only to find out that my freight trailer sat at the Connecticut terminal in 90 degree heat and then thunderstorms and rain for TWO DAYS! The freight did not even leave Connecticut until Thursday which made Friday delivery impossible! Upon speaking to two different ABF representatives, I was lied to by BOTH reps and told my trailer was between Connecticut and Dayton, Ohio. Come to find out, it sat in Connecticut until Thursday evening!! On Friday, I was told it would be in Kentucky for a Monday (today) delivery between 8-noon which I already did not believe due to my previous days experiences of being lied to and led on as to where my trailer was. Upon calling the arrival termnial this morning, I was told my trailer would in fact NOT be in today because it was STILL in Dayton, Ohio sitting there waiting for dispatch! Did anyone call to let me know this? NOPE! Did I have to call to find out my own trailer would not be arriving today and may not even arrive tomorrow? YES! I was given an estimated transit time of two business days from Massachusetts to Kentucky. Today is now day  4 and tomorrow will be business day 5 and I may not even have my furniture then! I have had to take three days off from work due to the "trailer arriving today between 8-12" and this is now the second day the trailer has not arrived! I will have to miss work again tomorrow to wait once again for my trailer to arrive. This entire experience has been extremley stressful and not worth the $1800 we paid to move my furniture. ABF did not even offer to discount the charge even a little bit for the time, stress, and loss of work days they have caused me! This company is honestly the worst out there and I wish I would have spent the extra money to either buy new furniture or move the furniture in a UHaul myself. DO NOT waste your time using this company as you will be VERY disappointed and left out in the dust in regards to where your thousands of dollars of furniture is!

  4. Terrible Company to Use to Move.

ABF UPack used Moving Staffers as there company of choice for loading and unloading of household goods.  In Kansas City the employees of Moving Staffers or the company that Moving Staffers contracted to were late and then told me how they were the people to go to for moving and loading.  Upon arrival in Florida, most damages to high end furniture was damaged because of the way it was loaded.  An ample supply of moving pads were provided, and I still have them, and the furniture was still damaged, some beyond repair or use.  The company that Moving Staffers used for unloading at our home in florida came ill prepared and without even a dolly to unload with.  They were not told that there was a safe in the trailer to unload after we repeatedly told everyone involved that there was.  I am not finding my complaint with the unloaders, I am finding fault with those who loaded the trailer in Kansas City and there were four men to start the load.  In florida they hire 2 men to do what 4 did in Kansas City. All in all, ABF and Moving Staffers deny any and all damages because even if it is there fault, in the paperwork that you sign to use them, it istill not there fault because they are a freight company and not a furniture hauler. If they treat an employee that way, I hate to see what they have done to the rest of you. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ABF UPACK I DO NOT RECOMMEND MOVING STAFFERS OR ANYONE THEY HIRE TO MOVE, UNLOAD, OR LOAD YOUR HOUSEHOLD GOODS.

  5. Don't Believe What U Pack tells you!

Delivery of the trailer was on time and went off without a hitch. The trouble started with the loading of the trailer the next day. Loading and unloading was done by Moving Staffers who were contracted by UPack. Loaders did an very poor job of loading the truck. They loaded heavy boxes on top of very light boxes causing the lower ones to crush damaging items that were contained within them. Even though I packed the boxes using bubble wrap, shrink wrap and newspaper sheets they still managed to cause a lot of damage. When the trailer is ready for pick up the pick-up driver is supposed to secure the bulkhead that separates your things from the rest of the trailer. He should place a security tag on the bulkhead while you witness this being done for you to confirm the tag placement and sign that this was done. None of this was done in our case. The driver showed up, hooked up the trailer and took off. I didn't sign any paperwork, witness the placement of the bulkhead or any of the correct procedure. When truck was opened on the receiving end the bulkhead was leaning against all of our things causing damage during transport. The delivery driver confirmed that everything had not been done correctly. He did have me witness the cutting of the security tag which was the first time I was seeing it. The unloading experience was totally the opposite from the loading. The driver was great and polite. The unloading crew did the best they could with the unloading since all the damage was done during the loading. Now, comes the best part. I called customer service to inquiry about a claim. I was told by Alana that NOTHING IS COVERED DURING TRANSIT. Damage must be claimed while they are loading the truck. I asked how could I tell what was damaged before unpacking the boxes and she responded that only damage actually loading and unloading is covered and that is at $1.00 per pound.    Bottom line, I would not recommend this company to anyone and I would be glad to discuss more details with anyone.

  6. Cheap solution but some broken items.

Everything with upack moving went very smooth drivers where on time, and delivery time frame with relatively quick.  The only problem I hadis some damages to furniture.  I have a broken desk, TV, 3 Mirrors, and a destroyed China cabinet and some other items damaged.  To sum itup, I ended up paying much more because of all the damaged items, andI had to load everything in both locations (obviously I knew that).Cheap is sometimes expensive.

  7. Great Service Great Price.

Wow - I have to echo everyone's comments - ABF UPack provided very professional, easy and affordable service.  I HATE moving and have done it many many times. I've used everything from full out moving services that pack for you to friends with trucks.  This was by far the easiest, most drama-free and reasonable professional service I have encountered.  I kept waiting for something to go wrong, but it didn't.  The details of my move changed many times before it actually happened, but each time I called, the customer service reps I spoke to were courteous and responsive.  I thought, compared to other moving services, their costs are quite reasonable.
I was moving the contents of storage units from one state to another and ended up taking and picking up my stuff at ABF terminals.  If there was one negative, it would be that for some reason (liability, perhaps) the storage unit facilities I dealt with in each locataion do not allow these pods to sit on their property.  Also, I checked in one city, and there is a rule against leaving them on the street at the curb.  So, check before you make your plans. This system works best if you have a driveway large enough to park one on your property while you pack it.
Still, I would definitely use ABF again. .

  8. Could hardly have been better.

Aside from being the best option, financially, for our recent move, we couldn't have been happier with our ABF U-pack experience.
In a nutshell they were on time on both ends, and the representatives were informative and professional.  With the truck driving in their hands, we were able to concentrate on getting ourselves (and our cars!) to our new home.
    perfect experience!

  9. ABF U-Pack Moving Service.

Well, my Mom's stuff is in transit and in Chicago, Illinois as it makes it's way out to Portland, Oregon. I was VERY PLEASED with the ABF U-Pack Moving service that we had in packing my Mom's stuff. The trailer was clean, the ramp was sturd..y and pretty safe, the divider walls that you put in were pretty easy over-all, and my Mom's stuff (with the exception of a couple of things) was able to fit in a ten feet wide by five feet long space. Aside from the great help I had from family and friends to load the truck, the thing that impressed me the most about the experience of using the company and it's service was the professionalism of the driver. His name was Doug O'Connor and he had been doing his job for 20 years (you could tell by the way he smoothly maneuvered that massive rig to parallel park next to my Mom' house). He was friendly, put the ramp down for us, and made arrangements with his supervisors to be able to come back after a few hours so that we wouldn't have to leave the trailer sitting there for a few days (they usually leave them 3 days and then pick them up). What was even cooler is that when he picked up the trailer, he was willing to wait for me as I proceeded to go to Lowe's twice to get a proper lock that would fight the hole of the divider wall. After my second failed attempt, he even drove the truck with me to Lowe's and waited in the parking lot and nicely explained that this happens often. He was a pretty cool guy. The people I worked with on the phone were also nice to talk to and the DVD video about the U-Pack service was excellent! It will be interesting to see how my Mom's stuff is when it gets to it's destination, but if there is any damage to anything, it will be due to our error in packing the trailer, which thanks in large part to Allan Smith and my Brother, we packed the thing pretty high and tight. If you are needing a service and are moving across country or a few states a way, I think this is a great service and cheaper ($2,400) than driving a U-Haul yourself, which is what my Mom and Brother originally were thinking of doing (from New York to Oregon would have cost around $6,000 or so with gas, u-haul, food and lodging, etc.). Two Thumbs UP! http://www.abfs.com/default.aspSee More.

  10. Amazing customer service.

I have nothing but good things to say about abf upack. If you don't mind packing and loading your things (in which case you control safety of your items) this is the way to go. Their customer service underpromised and overdelivered. They originally stated my belongings would be dropped off on a Friday and then CALLED ME back to ask if it would be ok to drop it off a day earlier. Everyone, including drivers, was so polite, something you don't see much of these days. And most important not a single thing of mine was broken. Everything went as planned and I could not have been happier.

  11. Wonderful - Marvelous Move 5 Stars.

I scoured all moving companies for a month. In the end, seeing I did not know how much I was going to move (due to this being us closing an estate for a family member that passed away)..I was left with 'having to' either cram stuff into "A" cube or get 2 cubes. I didn't particularly like "either" idea.  When I went on-site to hold the cubes..I happened to notice something I had not seen before, there is a THIRD option..you can rent space inside a 28 foot Trailer/truck. You can use as much space of that truck as you think you might need.  I (believe) there is/was a minimum space/fee but I knew we were not going to have any problem with the minimum requirement of 5 linear feet.  I called and talked to someone before clicking to get the cubes and she was so kind/curteous and explained everything in detail without rushing through.  In the end, we ended up using 14 feet (For every 1 linear foot you use they charge approx. $120)  and I brought home things that I can now sort through at my leisure instead of having to make "on the spot" decisions about family items.  ABF gave me the quote online, the quote/terms did not change, there were no surprises. They kept their word at every occasion. They delivered the trailer on time, they picked it up to move it for shipping across the country, on time. They said it would be 3 days to get here, it was here in 3 days.  I, however was not ready in 3 days so they allowed me a couple days in their storage facility so I could get ready.  When they came to delivery at the final destination this is where they REAAALLLLY EXCEEDED all expectations.  I live on a narrow one-lane road and the truck driver needed to be extra careful/cautious AND WE had to be there because the wires  (tele) on the last 4 houses are low and we didn't want our neighbors wires ripped off..They were WONDERFUL to deal with. I called and spoke to dispatch, I talked to the Manger and the truck driver..all went very smoothly.  Same thing with picking up the trailer--getting it out of our home area..they called 20 minutes before hand, we helped get the truck out of our area and the entire experience simply could not have gone ANY Better. I highly recommend renting the space on the trailer if you don't know how much stuff you want to take, this allows YOU to manage it better and the fee is more than reasonable and 14 feet is a LOT more space than what I was going to pay for 2 cubes--my final cost for 14 feet was less than renting the 2 cubes!  Thanks So Much to ALL -- You made a sad experience of closing my Mom's estate..much easier. High Marks!! If I can give you more than 5 stars, I will !!  Thank you Thank you!  I will DEFINITELY recommend you and your company to all my friends/family.

  12. Smooth Move.

The cubes were not available in Beaumont, Texas, because they didn't have the forklift to service that portion.  Instead I got a 27' trailer with ramp delivered from a super friendly man.  Because I accepted the trailer, the monthly storage at the destination end was the same price as if I had loaded cubes, $300. The advantage of the trailer is you are not limited to several small spaces.  The entire load "melds" together.  And with the ramp, my legs got a terrific workout. When we were ready for the trailer to be delivered to our new house, they promptly delivered, again with a really friendly driver.  He told me to call when it was empty and there were no further charges. The move, $1715, and two months storage, $600, $2315 altogether was extremely reasonable.  This is "do-it-yourself" packing, but full service moving companies demand that you wrap and pack your stuff; they just move it into their trailers.  They want more than twice this amount, and won't allow most anything in your garage. .

  13. Adjusting fees.

My quote was for $1944 after a $50 previous customer discount.  Upack, they ship.  well this is true.  If you use less than the space you were quoted they deduct, if you use more space they add cost.  well I used 2 feet less, which was $160 less.  On the bill of lading where you put the amount of footage used, the driver put 15 ft, somehow by the time it got to california my shipment grew to 17 1/2 feet.  they claim I wrote the 17ft.  No the driver wrote 15ft at pickup, I initialed.  I asked for a copy of the BOL, and what do I see, they crossed out 15 and put 17 as to keep the same delivery price.  bunch of crooks.  Never again.  I rather pay extra for a true moving company than these folks.  All the money I spent, I could have rented a truck and drove it back my self.  OH, and my shipment was picked up on a Wednesday, they said it'll be at the destination on Monday.  Well that Friday after Pick up, the destination terminal called and said Guess What, you've heard about the bad weather they're having, so you shipment wont arrive till Friday.  Well damn, I left Wednesday driving, got home Friday and ran into NO BAD WEATHER.  They excuse was a bunch of BS.

  14. Abf u-pack trailers for cross country moves.

ABF u-pack was a nice moving experience. My move was a small move from Long Island to Austin Texas and I have looked around for multiple possibities, either renting a truck and driving myself with the goods, hiring a full service moving company, geting a pod delivered, or hiring space on a van line. Because to drive with a truck towing my car would be a pain and cost a fortune just on gas, I decided to let go this option early. The choice between a full service moving company is always questionable as there are lots of crooks out there, so beware. The option of having a pod delivered always ended up being more costly than getting space on a van line or a freight company because it usually involves using the pod for an entire month for storage purposes, etc, and I really didn't need it. I was just needing a trailer at my old apartment complex for a certain period of time to be loaded, then delivered at my new apartment complext for a certain period of time to be unloaded, so ABF was a perfect choice. The trailer arrived on the setup date (tuesday), I hired local help on hireahelper.com to load it on the next morning (wednesday). Everything went smoothly, I had most of the things prepared already, so it was just a matter of wrapping up, padding and loading. Then I set the trailer to be picked up later on that day such that I could finish cleaning the apartment and loading myself the cleaning supplies (vaccuum cleaner, etc). Note that parking might be an issue, and I have checked with my apartment complex if it would be ok to have a big trailer parked there overnight- they said it was ok, but be aware that the trailer is quite big and because the truck head leaves, it cannot be on the street. The driver came, helped me out installing the bulkhead, and I said farewell to my stuff (wednesday evening). I kept minimal stuff with me to drive down there - I would be leaving on the next day (thursday) and note that I have a wife, a dog, and two cats to fit in a VW beetle. Particularly, an air mattress is an important thing because my stuff would only arrive a couple days after me, but it really depends on you and  how big is your car. So I took 4 days of driving to get there (arrived on sunday) - a nice drive through the middle of the country stopping to eat at super nice country restaurants. It was nice that I had everything arranged with my apartment complex because it was just a matter of checking in and bearing an unfurnished apartment for a couple of days. I started calling the local abf terminal to check in my stuff. It arrived on tuesday. the terminal here is a small one, so they are not as flexible as up there in Long Island with time windows, so I set up the delivery for the next day (wednesday), they said in between 8-5 but then arrived late in the morning. I had set up another local hireahelper crew to come and unload it and haul it to my new apartment and I asked them to come earlier as soon as the trailer arrived. they came and unloaded everything. the goods arrived in good condition: I have only a minor dent in a tv stand, a corner of the dinning table, and another small dent in a computer table - no big deal at all. Note that I was somewhat careful packing my things, several furniture pads for the furniture and couch, bubble wrap for fragile stuff, everything was kind of sealed with plastic wrap or inside boxes, then I had a plastic cover on top of everything and used my mattress to pad the back side against the bulkhead. The guys loading the trailer really did a good job - in my opinion it is important you get experienced professionals for this. After the trailer was empty (wednesday afternoon), I call the abf terminal to set up its pick up, they came on the next day (thursday) and because I was at work, I didn't see the driver. I left my car blocking the trailer head and then when I left, I left boxes on those parking spaces asking people to kindly not to park there.   overall, a great experience. a very competitive price just for the delivery, maybe one could get a cheaper quote, but at least I got good vibes from abf costumer service assuring me that everything would go as planned because of my tight schedule (particularly delivery and pick up times of the trailer). abf asked for roughly 1700, hireahelper was approx 400 total (slightly more expensive in long island, obviously, "this is new york" than in texas). if it was not such a pain, I would definitely do it again. good luck with your moves. feel free to contact me if you want. best wishes  .

  15. Move by ABF.

This move was furniture sent to a college student in Louisville, KY. It cost $1953.00 just as quoted and we provided our own packing materials. Pick up was one day late (on Friday instead of Thursday) due to pick-up and delivery trucks all being in use. Was not charged for the extra day.  Generally the move appeared to be uneventful and nothing was damaged. The people we talked to were friendly and helpful. The only problem was it went much slower than estimated. Nothing happens on weekends (we had 2 weekends instead of 1), and stopping at a major hub for transfer to another truck can cause delays in receiving the cube at your home on the day it arrives. I would use this service again, but would try to plan better and have more flexibility in the number of days required for arrival.
