  1. A customer service!

I was very pleased with my moving experience. I had done a lot of research prior to my moving and decided to go with ABF-U because I found their rates quite reasonable. They picked up and delivered my household items on scheduled time. The items arrived in perfect condition. They even applied AAA discount from the original quote. Pretty impressed with their service and would definitely recommend it to other and use them in the future!

  2. Very happy.

I moved from Pennsylvania to Alaska in July. I scoured the earth for a mover I could trust, and two people I knew who had already relocated up here recommended ABF. I used the freight system, NOT the U-Pack system, so I can't vouch for that, but the trailer arrived on time at my storage facility, was loaded, and showed up early in Alaska. The driver was excellent and the moving company people were really accommodating. I freaked out when it got here because the items shifted and I was charged more than I was quoted, but I was credited back the difference. My belongings arrived in good condition; only a table was damaged.. small price to pay, really. It was a very long trip and ABF was awesome all the way. Everyone involved along the way was excellent. I would absolutely use them again if I ever had to move (I hope I don't!!).

  3. No Issues.

I moved from Virginia to Texas in 1 of their relo cubes.  Upon delivery the driver was unable to manuver his truck into the neighborhood so he had to drive a fork lift with the relocube to my house.  I packed all of my own stuff.  It was mostly boxes, a regular sized bed, two chairs and some other stuff that wouldn't fit in boxes.  I locked it up with the toughest lock I could find.  I ended up having to store it for 2 months ($99/mo).  When I finally moved into a new apartment I was unable to have the relo cube delivered to the apartment because there was no place to put it and couldn't place it in the street.  So I had to hire someone to go to the warehouse where it was stored (outside) and unload it and deliver it to my apartment.  Despite that one inconvenience the process went smoothly.  I mention this so others will consider this when moving, I sure didn't.  The gentleman I spoke to over the phone was always polite, friendly and answered all of my questions.  Upon opening everything look about the way I left it.  Some items had shifted in transport but nothing was wet or damaged.  I'm actually considering to use them again but this time with two relo cubes.  If I do I'll let you know how it goes.

  4. So far, NOT so good..

We looked at a LOT of moving options for our relocation to Washington state from Arizona. Essentially, we went with U-Pack because the representative guaranteed us it was the most convienient option and their customer service was "above all the rest!" The phone representative was very nice and helpful so we booked 2 boxes. We were given a window for our boxes to be dropped off from 8am-noon (just like the cable guy, great). My boyfriend and I had to take the entire morning off work to wait for this guy to show up and noon passes, still no word. We contact the company saying our boxes haven't shown up and the CSR casually tells us they're, "busy this morning" and he won't be there until about 1 or so. A call letting us know this in the morning would have been nice. We'll after letting them know I had a doctor's apointment at 1pm we rescheduled the delivery for 2:30-3pm the same day. Now I get to load the boxes alone because my boyfriend has to go into work for the second half of the day. *Hooray* I hurried home so I didn't miss the delivery, also had to take the rest of the day off work, and still NOTHING! It's 3:24pm as I write this and I have just called again to find out the guy is at lunch. GREAT. The response on the phone was much less than helpful and I have officially wasted an entire precious day WAITING! So much for customer service. I plan to update my review after the move and will keep my fingers crossed it gets better from here although it is not looking good so far. As of now I reccomend you check out one of the MANY MANY other companies that offer this service.

  5. ABF UPACK was great.

We used a Relo-cube to move our stuff. We had it stored for a month while we looked for a place in our new location. We got exactly what we were expecting, which is way more than I can say for other experiences with movers. They dropped off the cube as expected. We loaded it, and they picked it up. On arrival our stuff was in great condition. The pick ups and drop offs were on time and easy. It was a very economical solution, and because we packed it carefully ourselves, nothing was broken.

  6. Misrepresented Services.

Whatever you do, do not pay this company any extra money. I had planned to do a terminal to terminal move in order to save money. I could afford packing my own uhaul and then driving to their truck and packing their truck. I was given the option to change it to a terminal to door delivery when I arrived in my new city and decided to take that route. Apparently, ABF believes my front door is out in my parking lot. DOOR TO DOOR is NOT a full delivery service, even when the price does equal the same as a full delivery service. DO NOT FALL FOR IT. This company WILL NOT DELIVER ANYTHING TO YOUR ACTUAL HOME OR APARTMENT. YOU WILL STILL NEED TO UNLOAD YOUR THINGS. I guess if I was moving somewhere where I knew a lot of people and could get some help with unloading (which I don't know a lot of people here yet), it could have been a semi-okay experience but instead they wanted to charge me $400 to drive 12.5 miles from their terminal to my apartment and leave their 28 foot trailer in my apartment parking lot (which is not allowed). Was this my fault? I don't think so, I think it's fair to assume that $400 would cover more than just driving a truck 25 miles.

Along with this, there was no one at the terminal when I dropped my things off, so I had to deal with waiting around for someone to show up to sign paperwork. Eventually someone did show up while we were packing, didn't let us know he was there, signed the paperwork and left them on the counter in the office, which had previously been locked. Great customer service.

I still have not received any of my goods, so I have no idea what they're going to look like damage-wise. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if they broke everything I own.

  7. 85% of our furniture damaged!

Think twice before you use ABF U-Pack to move!

As an elderly couple, we have moved nine times and have never had this terrible of an experience before.
We paid for ABF to pack our furniture.
We packed everything else (boxes) including all our fragile things, clearly marked the boxes as such with list of what was inside.

85% of our furniture was damaged!!
The furniture was not padded correctly and the 15% that wasn't damaged was correctly loaded at the front of the truck. The damaged furniture was at the rear of the truck. Not properly loaded to say the least.

Many of the fragile marked boxes we packed were 24 % CRUSHED. Since we packed them and have been through the drill, nothing that we packed was damaged. Heavy boxes were loaded on top of clearly marked fragile boxes.

Let me put what over 85% damage is into perspective.
43 pieces of furniture damaged out of 50.

To further aggrevate the situation we couldn't really move in for over 90 days do to extent of damage and length of time to "settle".

We had an expert who made furniture for Ethan Allen for over 20 years and now repairs and sells high end hand made furniture. We asked, because ABF required us to have him give us an estimate. Our guidelines to him were simple. We just wanted the furniture to look like it did before they moved it - repaired or replaced as needed.

ABF U-pack sent out an expert. Interesting that he first introduced himself as representing us. We asked who was paying him for his time, etc. He said ABF. So we said you clearly aren't represent us.

Our expert and their expert where significantly different - well over $10,000. We complained with no satisfaction. I tried to contact the President of ABF, had somebody contact me who was pleasant to deal with but wouldn't consider anything other than what they offered.

Possible we could arbitrate of in this situation sue for gross negligence, but lots of time, irritation, etc. and would likely come down to our expert versus theirs.

We would strongly suggest that you think twice about using ABF U-Pack. Obviously we will never use them again and regret that we did in the first place.

Saving a few bucks cost us dearly.

  8. Must have driven like a madman because a lot of my stuff was broken.

ABF was okay in that they brought a van the day I asked for it--the other broker said at the last minute that they didn't have the driver's to do the job. my only problem was that I thought we did a pretty good job of packing my furniture and almost everything was damaged by the time it got to texas. they were pretty quick in transit but they must have taken some of the turns on two wheels or something because it was obvious our stuff had really been for a wild ride. did not bother to file a damages claim with them.

  9. ABF and U-Pack were Excellent.

After getting stood up by Nationwide Moving Services based in Kaufman, TX, ABF stepped in and had a U-Pack trailer to us that very evening. I then hired a local crew to load us the next morning and ABF picked up the trailer for our interstate move to Texas. They did an EXCELLENT job and the move turned out to be very economical this way. Hiring a local crew for a few hours on each end while having ABF do the freight hauling is a very cost-effective way for an interstate move. I highly recommend them.
