  1. A Nightmare.

They are pleasent on the phone first time you call just to get you but once you sign with them the nightmare begins. my pick up was 4 hours late and the quote they gave me was 700 but I was charged 3000. I am sure they lie about the weight of your items NoWay my items were almost 3000 lb for a one junior bedroom not even including a bed set. if you ask to rescale at your presence its a 300 charge approximately and they say if they are 200 lb over or under then its ok. you do the math they have 200 lb room for error at 55-60 cents a lb plus you loose your 275 rescalling. the delivery was late and in the process I had written them 27 e mails just to be clear on things since they are extremely VAGUE that is because they have lots to hide. Once I got my items all were damaged even though I took extra time to bubble wrap and cover pretty much all of my items( even the mover told me excellent job on packing) but somehow they still managed to give my items back in terrible condition. They NEVER return a phone call neverrrrr everytime I called they said owner is away not in town or always bz on the phone . in 2 month not even a return call. e mails are always late reply you write them with 3 questions they answer to one in a very vauge manner. I have missing bagggggs and it takes 4-6 weeks to put a claim in . still no reply even though the 6 weeks is up. so many hidden charges and I had to pay close attention to billing since they had charged me with few extra services as if .. dooonnnttttttttt use this companyyyyyyyy at alllllll or you be ssssssoooorrrrryyyyy!!

  2. Dont use this company unless you want to be ripped off.

This was the worst experience , using ATLANTIC VAN LINES to move my contents from Ontario to Nova Scotia ! There staff is very unprofessional and well Farrah is someone who should be not answering phones as she lies and tells you misquotes of price and the where abouts of contents lost and damaged and is of no help to the paying customer at all !! It took 14 days for the contents to arrive . There was damaged furniture , broken and damaged items and missing contents. They lost my headboard to a sleigh bed and can't find it anywhere , so the bed is ruined and they will not replace it, or even look for it , or did they just steel it ?? They also dilivered someone elses  contents to my house and I told this Farrah about it and nobody has tried to pick up this others person contents , so that's just goes to show you there not looking for my contents either, knowing full well where someones contents is sitting in my living room and they have no intrest in getting it back to them either, the number tag on the contents of this other persons contents is 201 if its yours please contact me to make arrangements for pick up , because ATLANTIC VAN LINES ISNT GOING TO RETURN IT TO YOU !!     My quote for moving was 1100 dolars and when they delivered it it was 2400 dollars plus 100 dollars for stairs fee and 160 dollars for waiting until we returned from the bank ! and charged us full weight fee for delivery and they didn't have about 400 bs of contents on the truck because they lost it but still charged full price for delivery !! And all that was offered for our contents all damaged broken and missing is $75.00 what a joke these people are very untrustworthy and shady this moving company is a joke but were not laughing in the end ! WORD TO THE WISE STAY CLEAR OF THIS MOVING COMPANY !!ATLANTIC VAN LINES SUCK BIG TIME !!                                                  .

  3. Worst move ever.

Based on the on-line form, we received a quote of $2400. Atlantic Van Lines sent a truck that was already half full to our place in Grande Prairie, and our belongings did not all fit in, so we had to scramble (at month end - the busiest time for movers) to find someone to move our remaining things and find a place to store them within a 24 hour period because Atlantic Van Lines refused to send another truck before a week. We did not have a week. It was a rental property and we had to be out the next day. We found a local mover (Elite Movers in Grande Prairie, which we should have hired in the first place because they were great, and the owner told us that this was not the first time they'd heard an Atlantic Van Lines horror story) to move the rest of our things to a friend's garage for a week so that Atlantic could come pick them up from there. Atlantic Van Lines then stored our shipment in Edmonton until we could find a place to rent in Virden, Manitoba - our new home. Our delivery time was set for 8 days after possession of our new home, as they would not bring it any sooner. So we lived for a week in an empty house. We were informed that the final bill was $7600 - more than 3 times the amount originally quoted. MOre than $2000 of that amount was because they charged us for coming back to GP to get the rest of our things because they didn't send a big enough truck the first time. We called to complain to Atlantic Van Lines General Manager, Anita Kleitz, who was cold and unsympathetic, and determined to place the blame on us, saying that we must have been dis-honest on the on-line estimate form. When our shipment arrived in Virden, we had no choice but to pay the huge bill in full, and we did. We paid the full exhorbitant amount. No one on the moving crew checked off the inventory list to ensure that everything was being brought inside, and there was no list for the second part of our load. I checked things myself as they came inside, but a lot of items did not have a tag anymore. Many boxes (of which many were clearly marked "fragile") were burst open, re-taped (not by us), crushed, and items inside them, broken and shattered. Furniture was damaged. And worst of all, things were missing, the most distressing loss was a Swiss cow bell that had been in my dad's family for more than 150 years. I will never see it again. We contacted Anita to let her know there were many lost and damaged things. She said she'd send us a claim form to fill out. She insisted that everything was accounted for at their warehouse in Edmonton, but never offered an explanation for how our things went missing between there and Virden, never tried to find out what happened to the missing things, and never once apologized for her company having screwed up so terribly. In the end we were offered a settlement on our claim for $100. One hundred bucks. And still no apology. It was a slap in the face after putting us through the worst move of our lives. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!
I've posted two pictures, but we have dozens. People who've seen the photos say that it looks like the shipment was dropped or involved in some kind of accident. Before I realized things were missing (while the movers were just finishing bringing our boxes and things in the house) they were bringing in a 60 inch TV that didn't belong to us. We stopped them, saying it's not ours. They said, are you sure? And we told them we were. At this point we went into the truck and saw a couple of boxes that looked like they had my husband's handwriting on them. The driver (who was sitting on top of the next shipment, perched high up in the truck - I guess he thought it was funny), insisted that those boxes belonged to the next shipment. At that point we didn't have any reason to suspect that the boxes actually were ours after all. We just trusted that he knew what he was talking about, although, in hind-sight that was stupid of us because of what happened with the TV that didn't belong to us. We had paid the huge bill in full, and in good faith that our things would all have been delivered. It was only when we'd finished unpacking and started to settle in to our new home that we realized how much was actually missing.

  4. Bad Experience.

Based on my experience with them,  is a nightmare, they did double my shipment weights, I have  lots of damaged items. I tried to do claim, they didn't  pay anything. End of the my move I'm very upset and mad. Please be aware of this company, and don't move with them. Marry B.

  5. My move from October.

Thank you Atlantic Van Lines for what has been the best moving experience I have ever had!

The office staff were well organized, educated and prepared to do what it took to earn my business.

The men were on time for the pickup, introduced themselves, got all the papers organized and got to it. They made a game plan and stuck to it, they were in and out within 3 hours.  PERFECT!

The delivery men were also great!

I had 2 minor damaged items, nothing to cry over but it still ticked me off, I called to report the damage and was directed on how to go about having it rectified.  After a couple weeks I got a response, and though it wasn’t exactly what I wanted it was close enough, so no complaints.

I would hesitate to use again or recommend Atlantic Van Lines.

  6. My November 2012 Move.

Atlantic Van Lines assisted me with my relocation for work in November 2012.
I have had many moves and this one was the best I’ve had.  I had no issues with the office staff, all the men were very easy to work with and careful with my stuff.
The cost was within 15% of the estimate, no surprises, no delays, no problems at all.
A big thank you to Jenn who was my sales rep, she was friendly and very easy to work with. .

  7. Good job, good price.

The did a very good job, the price was very close to what I was told. I am very happy with the service that they did for me.Everyone was very nice and helpful, I am very happy that the only thing broken was 2 drinking glasses. The ladies in the office always helped me when I called, they helped me fix a good day for the delivery so I could make plans for my childrens school

My husband couldn't be there so they took the beds apart for me which was very helpful.  The men were very friendly and caused no problems.

  8. Poor service, even poorer business practices.

Based on my experience with them, and on the other reviews I should have read before using them, I don't expect much from Atlantic Van Lines in this review. Also, due to the numerous companies listed, I expect many of them are similar. However, I can speak to Atlantic Van Lines, and have them very lacking in terms of honesty, service and customer service, so if this keeps someone else from getting harmed, it's worth my time. First we were quoted $1700 gst for the move from 2 storage units for my brother in Richmond, BC to Edmonton, AB, which was why we went with them (other quotes were $2000-2300). There's a reason their reps don't give their last name as this ended up more than double at $4385 - after they have your stuff and charged you for packing (most of the stuff was already in boxes) and extra weight (which they never verified to us). Second, although this was started in October, and arranged finally by early Dec, the actual move (due to all kinds of reasons), did not take place until Jan 4. We did not get the items delivered until Jan 31. We were quoted 3-5 days after the pickup! I could go on and on about all the unscrupulous practices they used AFTER they picked up but suffice to say they pretty much hold your things ransom unless you do everything they want, including paying the exorbitant amount they demand, and within their terms (sign this document to say you wont dispute or you wont get it). I knew there would be some overage based on the fact that moving companies are commonly on the BBB bad lists but not 2.5x the original quote. To add injury to insult, my wife was very stressed by all this due to the fact she felt cheated the entire process. So avoid Atlantic Van Lines Toronto, on Kingston St in Toronto at all costs! 416-335-1771. Rip-off doesn't even begin to describe the experience.  And it's really funny to see their 100% customer satisfaction guarantee. Our satisfaction is like 10%.

  9. Delayed and Damaged Move from Ontario to NS.

Overall, my experience with Atlantic Vanlines was not positive. The company first quoted me far below what I knew all my items would weigh, and even with an itemized list still underquoted the final cost significantly. The pickup was on time and went well - the movers were very professional.  I was told during the quote/initial conversations that the delivery would be between 4-7 days and would receive a phone call 24 hours in advance. On day 8 I still had not heard anything so I called in to inquire - I was told the truck was delayed and they could not estimate my move day until at least 10-11 days total. I was frutrated that the company had told me 4-7 days and had not even bothered to call me to tell me there was a delay and they stated that they never guarantee times. I understand that delays happen - but good customer service would be to inform the customer! The service representatives were not helpful or even remotely understanding. When I did receive the call that my furniture would be arriving, the representative tried to tell me that my total was $500 more than it should have been! The representative got the quote sorted without apology. Then when I tried to pay by credit card they wanted to charge a 3% fee - which adds up! This was a hidden fee that was not identified in the initial quote when I specifically asked about all possible fees. When the drivers arrived, I handed them my money order and they argued with me rudely that it was the wrong price. They had to call head office (understandable) to get the right amount - but their attitude was quite rude.  The movers chipped the paint off my wall and casually flicked it to the floor, smirked and didn't apologize. Some of my furniture is a little worse for the wear and there are SEVERAL crucial screws/nuts/bolts missing from our bed, kitchen table and armoire.  I would never reccommend this company.

  10. Good Service - Long distance move.

We had a long distance move with this company and a long term storage.  We just received our possessions and everything was received in order.  I was nervous as the goods were in storage for some time, but everything arrived in good condition.  I am not the person to complain about a few cups and plates damaged.  My bike and TVs arrived, and I was relieved.  They took good care of my shipment and I was truly impressed.  Unofrtunately we moved before with another company who was not so careful but this move has proved to be a good one.
We even came to pick up a few of our babys items, and they were so accomodating.  I was in their warehouse and it was clean and tidy.  I saw one of the guys sweeping (lol) which is refreshing to see!  The warehouse manager helped me load my car, and we even had a good chat.
I was waiting to accept my delivery so that I can reserve judgement, but this move turned out to be a good experience.
i know that people will take thier time to write bad reviews, but I wanted to take my time to write a good one, cause these guys deserved it.

  11. Dream moving.

I only made a small move but it was still nerve racking!! I was so nervous about the price being double what I was quoted, but Farah took the time to go over the list of what I was moving so that I could get a closer price. My cost came within $700.00 of what I was quoted, which was great. Thanks Naomi and the Atlantic team for a great job.

  12. Great Movers.

A big thank you to Atlantic Van Lines for their great service.  I had a small move from St Andrews, NS to Guelph, ON and they offered a great price and amazing service.  My move was not bit but they treated me with the same amount of respect as any other customer.  The sales reps were great.  I had my stuff in storage in their warehouse for about 5 months, and had visited the warehouse.  Facilities were clean and the staff was very helpful.  They let me bring a few items in to add to the stored goods and didn't charge me anything extra.  I had met the office staff and the girls were very nice - I probably know all of their life stories by now..lol
The price was very fair as well, especially for storage.

  13. Do Not Hire.

This company is terrible.  We were originally quoted for our move $4000, but when we called a week after our pick up to find out the actual price, it was $7000, and our belongings had already been shipped.  We ended up having to pay this amount in order to get our belongings back.  When the delivery truck arrived, we were told we had to sign a paper stating that we had received everything in good shape even before the truck was opened.  When it was opened, we were greeted with destroyed furniture, much of it completely written off, boxes markd "Fragile" were upside down and crushed under heavier boxes, and many boxes and pictures simply never showed up.  This company turned what was an exciting move into a nightmare.  Avoid at all costs.

  14. Movers.

Do not hire these guys, at least if you're moving from Edmonton. The service is horrible, the contact is poor, the packing and storage is horrible and damage is high.  1. 7:30AM we got a call that the movers would come between 2 - 4P, they NEVER came or called that day; we followed up and they then came VERY LATE the next day. They almost literally stuffed and tossed the items in with no organization.  2) no matter their promises and the gentle manner of the main office people (Artur and Anita), the move itself was frustrating and NOTHING happened on time.  3) their numbering of our shipments was so bad we thought we were missing 3 boxes; we had only 10 days to unpack everything; they promised to check the warehouse but never called and never did check; 4) there was terrible damage, with holes right through the side of a cabinet, table finishes scraped to bare wood, table tops completely scratched seriuosly damaging a high gloss finish, a dresser with the whole base knocked off and the side looking like it was chewed it was so battered.  There was nothing good about this move except for the fact that the boxes arrived, crushed and dented, a wardrobe box crushed to half its size, but we packed all boxes so the contents were fine.  Rating? punctuality - 0; price - average; timeliness - .5, follow-up - 0, sales people - nice enough, 1.  I actually can't believe that I let them take our stuff..
Don't use them.  Actually, do whatever it takes to move your things yourself and rent a truck.

  15. Poor service from Atlantic Van Lines.

We used Atlantic Van Lines because of their excellent reviews. Not only was our stuff delivered late (4 weeks) but most of what was handled by the professional movers was either damaged or broken. Plus we received somebody else's photographs that have still not been picked up by the company. And there are 10 boxes that are still missing. To add insult to injury, the GM of the company says that if we file a complaint with the better business bureau; "I assure you that if you file a complaintwith the BBB, Atlantic Van Lines will not be able to offer you anything, and the BBB is just a mediator and will not make us pay out anything. You submit a complaint and it is forwarded to us to respond. I assure you that if you do submit a complaint that our response is going to be very simple." How's that for customer service?   .
