  1. Moving experience.

Please don't use that company !! my furniture came broken even if they did the packaging and the wrapping !! worst worst customer service I have had in my life !! they are very rude from the driver to their manager !! they are big big liars !! and finally their manager instead of apologizing at least she is telling me she can't do anything because she knows where I come from !!

    Hi Anita,

I believe that insurance issue is in case the driver did an accident or sth unexpected happened.

But in my case, it was the unprofessional work from your compagny( employees) that damage and broke my furnitures.

I have paid 2000$ for a service that I didn’t receive it. You didn’t wrap well the furniture as it should be done and your driver said that, you driver didn’t enter the stuffs inside house. He pushed us to pay before getting our stuffs, otherwise not loading , refused to give a packing list. He was very agressive with abnormal attitude and insulting us. He was even about touching me and push me away. I had to deal with that, live this frustration and call the police. But, your driver ran away.

I think it is unacceptable to deal with customers in that way.

Since, I have paid for service that I didn’t receive it. I am asking for at least to be refunded or send somebody to fix the furnitures. That s not an insurance issue. That is mostly a compagny liability. I feel myself dealing with professional frauder and I hope it is not the case.

    Hi Therese,

Thank you for your response to the claim and your feedback.
I understand where you are coming from and I understand your response. However, the coverage that you had with the move, we confirm with you in 3 ways:

    1. Email quote which confirms coverage
    2. Email confirmation which confirms coverage and offers the option to purchase extra
    3. Moving contract where the coverage is offered

All of these options were declined unfortunately. (which is not true )

Without proper coverage there is only so much that we can do.
All moving companies in North America offer the same coverage to all long distance moving companies, and we are no different. Unless the customer declares a value or purchases coverage through a third party, our coverage is very limited.

  2. Moving.

We moved from Manitoba to Ontario and the quote was reasonable, they came prepared on time and accommodating.
On delivery they came unprepared, they were unprofessional, they disobeyed posted signs in my storage unit location and broke solar panels with their truck. They tossed my property into my unit breaking losing pieces and with no regard to my property.
And finally the cost was twice what they initially quoted.
    Do Not Use This Mover.

  3. Absolute garbage.

I hired this company to move my Mother from Vancouver to Ontario and they literally damaged every single piece of furniture, art and exercises equipment she had. One headboard now has a broken leg, all the dressers have large deep gouges in them, picture frames are damaged, six very expensive dinning chairs arrived pulled apart and the joints and I'm pretty sure I'm still missing a box. They also unloaded items that were not mine and I had to call them to come back and get it. My husband and I used a different company 8 months prior for the same distance and they were able to deliver two Ikea bookshelves and an Ikea computer desk in perfect condition so I can't imagine that ensuring peoples items arrive safely and undamaged is all that difficult. Using this company was the worst decision we ever made.

  4. Classic Bait and Switch.

Let it be known that we held off posting this review until after our goods were received for fear of what Atlanntis might do in retaliation.

Atlanntis will entice you in by giving you an low ‘quote’, (which they specifically say is not a quote, and that your final charge will have nothing to do with the number generated from the fill-in-the-blank form that populated it.)
Do not be fooled by this number, it’s just bait.

My mom needed to move her pre-packed items from my sister’s garage in Rural Saskatchewan to Nanaimo, Vancouver Island, B.C.

From B.C. My mom hired Atlanntis movers based on the price quoted online after entering in the quantity of items she had. She has a queen sized bed, small round kitchen table, a small table that’s used as a desk, an office chair, an upholstered accent chair and 16 wooden dining room chairs. That’s ALL she had as furniture and only a small deep freeze for appliances. She had 75 boxes of items. Also, at the time of the quote she added that she has a specialized piece of quilting equipment that consists of a 12 foot long metal table with rollers with a set of legs at each end. The machine part of this setup is boxed and separate from the table. The original quote included this equipment.

After securing a monetary deposit from my Mom, they had her fill in a more detailed list of her belongings. At this time the quote went from approximately $1700 to $4000. The quilting table and its size were confirmed again at this time.

My mom was not able to be present when her items were picked up and loaded from my sisters house. When the company called my sister the day before the move, they claimed that they knew nothing of the quilting machine and table. As well as changed the quote to include a Laz-y-Boy chair (the accent chair), a dining room table (the antique desk table), and stated that it would be an additional $500 to bring the quilting table due to its large size. The price now increased to $7000 based on these few changes (made by Atlanntis). Atlanntis claimed that they HAD to increase the size of truck used to pick up her items due to these last minute changes. This would result in bumping up my moms move into the ‘minimum 9500 lb. ’ category and therefore increase her price.

We understood that the truck would be weighed after her items were loaded and that she would pay ONLY for what she had. This was NOT THE CASE.
This new minimum 9500 lb. minimum meant that she would be paying for 9500 lbs regardless of how heavy the load was.

This all happened approximately 15 hours prior to pickup.
This situation went on and on, getting worse with every contact. The entire story is too long to describe here. The final bill was $6800!! And the damage was EXTENSIVE.

My advice is to avoid this company and all others that pop up from a web search that indicates it will give you several moving quotes at one time. That’s how my mom found Atlanntis.

Our biggest mistake was ignoring the negative reviews that we read about this company. Consider yourself warned.

  5. Incorrect quote and price increase after deposit.

I got quote for my move from California, US to Toronto, Canada. The initial quote was provided based on lbs and I had submitted the list of items to ship. Later when I paid the deposit of CAD 200 I was told that quote had increased by 1000 CAD as the space required is more in the truck for items. For the dining + 4 chairs + 1 bench the weight was 325 lbs and after paying the deposit when I filled the exact items in the excel provided the weight was considered 500+ lbs. The trick is to provide lower quote and then increase the quote once you fill excel (which has fixed lb calculations irrespective of the weight if actual products.)

The initial list of items that I had provided had two beds, 2 mattresses and when I filled the excel I reduced the items to 1 bed , 1 mattress and added two small tables (IKEA ones which are very light in weight).

I preferred cancelling the trips. My 200 CAD dollars deposit was not returned. I took hit of CAD 200 and saved 1000+ on my move. Lessons leant here on dealing with agencies.

Avoid the company. Telephonic conversations are not taken inti account and executive decline the terms agreed on phone. Make sure everything is in email else you would pay way above the initial quote.

  6. Caused more damage than cost of the move!

I moved from Ontario to British Columbia back in the Summer and did not have much, so the cost Atlantic gave me was reasonable. Jennifer in customer service was great and very responsive, but that was where my positive experience ended.

The drivers showed up at my house to pick up my stuff four hours late, tracked mud and dirt all throughout my place, left garbage from their tape, wrap and stickers all over, plus they broke the legs off my desk right in front of me; stating to submit a claim to the office and I'll be reimbursed for it. Ha!

Then a few weeks later my stuff arrived in BC.. my two TVs (55" curved and 70" 4K UHDTV) were smashed, an ottoman I had was completely missing, and all of my boxes were caved in (crushed) with all glass or delicate objects within, smashed.

I filed an incident report with the office, hoping to be compensated and I was offered $55 - for $5,000 worth of damage! I didn't think I needed coverage against reckless, negligent behavior, but I was wrong. I went so far as to research my rights under the consumer protection act and there aren't any. 60 cents per pound of damaged goods is it! Well, TVs don't weigh much, but they cost a ton so I had to replace those, my ottoman, ironing board, bbq, and desk legs MYSELF!

What a racket to be in! You can charge for a service, then treat the goods you're transporting like absolute garbage, and be held zero percent accountable! Great lesson for me I guess. Buyer beware! Atlantic gets paid for doing nothing and guarantees even less!

  7. Impressed with service.

After reading reviews of basically all moving companies I was concerned about choosing any one of them. However I did need to send some things which included a dirt bike, a bicycle and a family heirloom rocking chair, from Ottawa out to my son who lives in Edmonton. After using a broker who sent out information to moving companies to make a bid, I ended up choosing Atlantic Van Lines. The main reason was the price that they gave me but also the fact that they had looked up the size of motorcycle that I was sending. Noting that it was not particularly large, they quoted me $100 handling fee to move it whereas other companies were charging between $200-$400. The contact at Atlantic was called Jen. She provided fantastic service, responding immediately by email whenever I contacted her with a question. I was given a choice of 3 dates for pick up, they called the day prior to confirm date and time. They arrived on time, moved all the items that included several boxes that I had packed into the truck and they had wrapped up the chair well to protect it. I was notified of the final weight and cost but already had an accurate estimate. The company also sends out an Excel sheet that calculates weight of items so that customers can keep track of what their shipment is likely to weigh, so there were no surprises. A truck was being deployed to their warehouse in Calgary the following week and did leave within the estimated time frame. We were notified of the anticipated delivery period, sometime between October 31 and November 5; then we were called November 2 to arrange the e-transfer payment and the delivery for November 3. The truck arrived with the given time period given and unloaded. Other than a couple of small scratches on the bicycle, everything arrived in perfect shape. We were so pleased with the whole experience. Having read so many terrible reviews I felt it was only right to post a positive review because they really did a great job.

  8. Terrible Job and Terrible Service.

We recently moved from Alberta to Nova Scotia and used Atlantic Van Lines. They subbed the packing of the house to Real Alberta Movers. Due to the short turnaround after the sale we also included a full packing job. That is where the problem started. The packers did a terrible job packing the house. They literally put unwrapped dishes in containers and lamps upside down on top of each other without anything in between. We estimated around $6000 in total damage. They also ran out of wrapping blankets. After that we were assured our stuff would be looked at in the warehouse to ensure it was packed correctly. A couple months later when the furniture was coming out of storage other issues started coming up. The month of free storage promised took me three phone calls and several emails to have them honor and the price of storage wasn't 400 a month it was now by weight. On top of that they delivered our furniture over two weeks after we got in the house even though they had several months notice. When delivering the drop off driver was shocked this was a full pack and instructed us to take lots of pictures as there was so much obvious damage. We took over 150 pictures and sent most of them to Atlantic Van Lines. There response nine weeks later was to offer us $75 to waive future liability.

We have moved several times in our life and have never experienced anything as bad as this. We had several friends and family help us unpack and they had never seen anything as bad as this. Since many of those people are in the military they have moved a lot and have a lot of experience in moving. Hopefully this review helps you choose a moving company that will care for your belongings and treat you like a valued customer.

  9. Do not use this company!!

Stay away from these scammers. They gave me a quote to move my stuff. Then jaked it up another 1200$ after pick up and told me they would be 18 to 22 days delivering. They call and bring me home a day early cause they showed up 3 to 6 days earlier then tell me they would be here in 30 minutes and I had to pay them before arrival. Then once payment is confirmed they call back and tell me they'll be another 24 hours showing up. Most disorganized scammers I've ever dealt with.

  10. Do Not Use!

Worst company evere. Complete liars and scammers. moved from Ontario to Nova Scotia. Not only did they charge us $3000 more than our quote, it took them a month and a half to deliver. Everything was damaged, all our babies brand new furniture was damaged and her toy box was clearly used as a step stool because of all of the boot prints all over it and the entire side of it is kicked in. They broke our coffee table and end tables. Every single box marked Fragile was crushed and broken along with everything inside. Including a one of a kind mug from my dead grandmother, every last one of our dishes and glasses and more. Photos broken, torn, scratches on everything. Told us theybwere wrapping up some of our furnature free of charge then charged us $800 for it. Claims offered $30 bucks for everything which is [EDIT]. We are going to be pressing charges for the frauds they are.

  11. Worst moving company ever unprofessional and irresponsible do not hire.

I had moved my stuff from Edmonton to Brampton in july took them a month from the pick up date to deliver the stuff. I was travelling with a baby so was very inconvenient as they kept changing and delaying the delivery date. The day I received my shipment my glassware was broken, my fans were damaged, the tupperware boxes were broken. No responsibility was taken by the delivery guy said to contact the office. On contacting them the sales agent jen kirsh sent me a claims form and told me it will take 4-6 weeks. Followed up with them 4 weeks later some anita lady sends me settlement offer of $20 for things worth $700 and says that's all I get accept it or leave it. I refuse to take $20.would like to warn everyone never hire this company please they are ripp offs and unprofessional and unapologetic people they have no offices so you don't know who to go to. Please do not waste ur time and money with this company. They are thugs who steal ur stuff and will give you $20 settlement for things that emotional value and monetary value. I lost all my artwork my pictures and coffe table. Go somewhere else to get your precious items moved or you will regret it.

  12. Nightmare.

I would not recommend this company. My partner and I moved from Québec to Nova Scotia, and were drawn to the seemingly affordable service of this company as they supposedly offer student discounts. Unfortunately they never granted the discount, stating we “should have provided a photo ID sooner”, which was impossible because we hadn’t registered yet. Plus, there were multiple “surprise fees”, including stair fees, only mentioned after confirming their service. Subsequently the bill went up much higher than we had budgeted. We were also charged for warehouse fees that were apparently supposed to be waivered. Furthermore, the wrapping/padding service we paid for was terrible: many items were left completely uncovered and unprotected. All of our furniture was damaged or destroyed: upright piano, desk, large bookshelf, two dressers, lamp, speakers, dishes, etc. We were devastated. Do not use this company.

  13. Worst Company.

I moved with them the 1st time and it was a nightmare. The 2d time I moved with ShipHome.ca and they took care of my things and gave me the better price. Send an email to info@homeship.ca and they will send you quote in couple of hours.

  14. If I could give zero stars..

We recently moved from Alberta to Southwestern Ontario. The price quote was fine but it took almost a month to get our belongings that had been severely damaged in the process. Brand new nursery furniture our baby will never be able to use because EVERY.SINGLE.PIECE. needs to be replaced. They lost our dining room table and left us with 3 horribly disfigured chairs and a pair of cross-beam supports. When we asked the “gentleman” (who spoke very little English and I do not believe was able to accurately read the bill of lading) where our missing furniture was, he laughed and said “call the office” and then hopped in the truck and left. Jen Kirsh, the sales representative we dealt with was unapologetic and mostly unhelpful. She told me to fill out the claims form, it’ll take 4-6 weeks. When I finally heard from Anita Kleitz, the claims manager, she then tells me that only the pictures of the damage and not the completed claims form had been forwarded to her from Jen. They only give you 10 days after delivery to complete this form and she emailed me 11 days after, essentially to say that I’m probably S.O.L. because it wasn’t submitted on time. I had to forward her the timestamped email to prove that I got it completed in time. Anita then tells me that this will take 6-8 weeks! On their claims form they state not to repair, replace or discard damaged items because they reserve the right to inspect the damaged goods at any time. I certainly cannot use a single piece of my furniture without repairing it at a bare minimum! So their expectation is that we must live without our furniture for MONTHS. I cannot express how deeply angry I truly am. DO NOT trust Atlantic Van Lines with your possessions!

  15. Horrible company - Avoid at all costs.

This company gave me a quote and then once I gave them a list of my belongings they decided to jack up the cost saying that this will likely be the weight of my things based on my list, but it will be weighed when it gets to Toronto to go in storage. I later found out that they weighed my things, but did not generate a ticket because it weighed less than their estimated amount. They refuse to tell me how much my stuff weighs and therefore I am overpaying their 50 cents per pound estimate. I've made a complaint with the BBB, but the company refuses to return the calls from the BBB to resolve the issue.
