  1. Awesome.

U Pack was a please to work with, made my cross country move less stressful.  really can't say enough how satisfied I am with U Pack service.  So Glad that I used them, with all the other horror stories with other moving companies.  thanks again U pack I would highly recommend U pack to anyone Hands down. I did choose to pack and unload myself and U pack gave me ample time for this to happen.

  2. Excellent Experience with U-Pack.

After looking into PODs and other services we decided to go with U-Pack based on a friend's recommendation. We are very happy we did as the entire experience was excellent. As some other reviews have stated, before booking you need to be fully aware of the services they offer. Additionally, plan ahead in order to protect yourself if there are delivery delays etc (we did not have any delays). The drivers on both ends were extremely helpful and friendly. Contrary to another review there ARE locks that will fit into the holes on the bulkhead to secure your things. We got ours at Home Depot, and although we had two only one fit. Still, that works for me and there was no tampering or theft that I could determine. U-Pack stored our trailer for a full month while we were looking for a house, and it was at a reasonable price with no issues encountered. Our stuff arrived in fine condition considering I had packed it myself. I expected some damage as I am not a professional mover, and we had some minor dings, but nothing major. Overall I was very happy with our experience, would absolutely use them again, and highly recommend them to others. We even got charged less than our original quote.

  3. Worst moving experience ever.

I have moved several times during my adult life - this is the first time I used UPack.  I will never use them again.  I have never made a move that has been more botched.  I was promised the truck would arrive at my new location at the latest by Friday - it didn't arrive until the following Monday.  The extra nights in hotels (because our beds were on the truck), the extra restaurant meals (because all our pots and dishes were on the truck), I had to buy work clothes to go to work that Monday, I had to hire movers to empty the truck because I had to be back to work that Monday.  In all my loses were over $1000. Upack agreed to give me back a paltry $150.  Terrible company to work with.  They were very nice when scheduling my move, but when they failed to meet the schedule they had promised - they became very rude.  One customer service rep even hung up on me, and when I finally got a manager on the phone (5 days later) - she offered no solutions only a lousy $150 back.  She acted like I should be grateful since they don't normally give anything back, "but given the extenuating circumstances, she could make this exception.

Pathetic excuse for customer service.  They don't keep commitments.  Don't use this company.  .

  4. Damage.

When my items reached my new home in Florida they were DESTROYED. I have THOUSANDS of dollars in damages due to inept poor driving and UPack is taking NO responsibility for the damages. They are claiming it is not their fault. It is clear that the damages were due to drivers going over bumps and curbs at high rates of speed and slamming on their breaks. Upack is refusing to show me the driver logs and the maintenance logs on the trucks. They are claiming that since they did not pack the truck it is not their responsibility. Well hence the name UPack - they will never have to take responsibility for ANY damages. This is the WORST company and most irresponsible company I have EVER dealt with. Buyer beware when using this company - they do not give a [EDIT] about the things they are hauling in their trucks, they only care about the money in their wallets and cover up for their drivers. .

  5. Understand How They Work.

I'll start with the quick and straight forward:
    1. I recommend use of this company AS LONG AS YOU UNDERSTAND THE PROCESS
    2. When using the trailer, no lock with a 2 inch shank is thin enough to fit through the hole to lock the bulkhead doors. NONE. I searched numerous stores, wasting my time and money at a very stressful moving time and found none that worked. When I called the service center about this, I was told that this is known and everyone that encounters this just leaves the bulkhead doors unlocked. Given that I had already loaded everything and was about to leave the state, I had no choice but to do the same. All of my things were fine and nothing was damaged or stolen.
    3. The employees are very nice, both those with UPack and those with ABF. I moved from Boston to NC. The drivers were great and friendly. The service center folks I talked to on the phone were also very nice and friendly.

Now, allow me to provide more info for those interested.

What do I mean by understand the process? ABF is a freight company. The situation seems to be that they do this moving personal stuff with UPack on the side. That is, once you have loaded your stuff, they use the rest of the space for freight until they deliver the trailer to you. I liked that I had the flexibility to load up the trailer and use however much space I needed and was not limited like I would have been if I mistakenly underestimated the number of pods/cubes I needed. I used the amount of space I estimated, but I really like that I could have used more if I found that I needed to.

Next, there have been a few complaints on here about the drivers being late. They were for me when delivering the empty trailer, I admit. The drop off time was 11AM-4PM and the truck arrived at ~6PM. I was in Boston, though. Good luck trying to get a semi through Boston. That is not something that I think can be held against the driver/company. As for why they cannot pin-point a time? Well, they have freight and need to pick up and unload and so forth on the way to dropping the trailer off at your place. While we all want precise times, that is just not how the trucking business works. I knew this going into it so I did not and do not hold that against the company.

Allow me to take a moment to comment about this service in Boston. UPack has many spots on their site that point out big city limitations with their service. Boston is one such city. That region does not allow trailers to be left on the street. It's illegal to. So, I was out of luck with that. My father used to drive long haul semi and so I asked him about whether or not he thought the driver could back the trailer into my driveway. As the Boston region is, the streets are tiny, the corners sharp, and the paths narrow. I was VERY concerned and stressed out about this. My father kept telling me, "if the driver is worth his salt, he will not have a problem." I am happy and relieved to say that the driver didn't even bat an eye. He backed that trailer in like the pro he is. My wife was floored. He did it in no time and he didn't hit anything. I uploaded two pictures I took when he parked it in the driveway. I spent weeks looking obsessively at semi trailers around Boston and I can say that 99% of them are way longer than the 28 ft trailers for ABF. You do not need a very long driveway to have them park it. Their website has all the specs on the length and width of the trailers. You can measure you driveway to make sure. Mine was 10 ft wide and like 60 ft long. The length of my driveway was not the issue. It was the width and coming in from the narrow street that concerned me. The driver didn't have a problem, though. 10ft wide and a narrow street was fine for him. As my father said, this is what they do! They know how to drive these things!

Last, ABF delivered the trailer to me at my destination at the start of the time range and got it at the end of the day. I could not have had better service then. And, like I said earlier, the driver and the service center employees were very friendly and nice to talk to. I did find that some water leaked in at the front corners of the trailer. Thankfully, I had bagged my mattresses and couch. SO, the water was on those and nothing else. If you pack in the front corners, I suggest that you bag whatever is there just to be safe.

  6. Cross-country move.

There were two somewhat distinctive parts of our move--one, many books making for a heavy load; and two, a need for one month of storage.  Moving across the country, too, I was very pleased the the affordability of U-Pack, and we didn't sacrifice a thing in terms of quality.  We talked with customer service a fair number of times, and got quick, well-informed responses.  Talking with the managers at the terminals, too, always went well, with very courteous people.  So we got a great deal and were treated very well, while nothing was damaged.  It's hard to find honest moving companies sometimes, but if U-Pack is a good fit for your style of move, I'd strongly recommend them.
We did hire movers on both sides to help us load and unload.  Even with that, I think we saved 3,000-4,000 dollars in comparison with a full-service company (and of course, many of those aren't actually trustworthy).

  7. Moving With Confidence.

There is no such thing as a stress-free move.  If you want to come close, give ABF U-pack a call.  From my first contact with their agents in their Ft. Smith, AR home office, to the drivers and local terminal reps; everyone was eager to help in any way they could.  It's rare to receive this level of customer service at any company in this day and age, not to mention the price, which could not be beat.

  8. East Bound & Down, Loaded up & Truck'n.

If anyone is relocating, I recommend giving U-PACK a call. The whole U-PACK Team impressed me with the level of service I received from beginning to end. My move went off without a hitch. The convenience of racking and stacking my own (well, borrowed) trailer and given 3 days on each end was perfect. I reserved 17 feet and wasn't sure what I was going to take, but when it was all said and done, I was able to only use 7 feet and saved myself about a grand. When and if I ever move again (not anytime soon, LOL), I will definitely use U-PACK and WILL recommend these services to anyone I know that may be moving. Also, by using U-PACK to do all the driving, I was able to take my time cruising accross the states with TWO(yes TWO) Great Danes at a leisurely pace. Geo A. Wake Forest, NC.

  9. Perfect Solution for Cross Country Move.

    U-Pack from ABF delivers a top-notch, worry-free service.
From my first phone call asking some basic questions, I felt like we were in good hands. Calls were answered quickly by knowledgeable and friendly staff. I never felt like I was put on hold or having to wade through lots of phone prompts. Following each call, I'd receive an auto-generated email confirming my order. This was very re-assuring as there were some last minute changes to our move date and I was able to easily adjust the date / time of our initial trailer drop-off without any penalties.
The trailer was dropped-off as scheduled. The friendly driver worked with us for optimal placement to make it as easy as possible to load the trailer.
In the following days, we loaded up our trailer with assistance from a local moving company. The U-Pack trailer was then picked up on time by another friendly and professional driver.
When we arrived at our destination and had possession of our new home, we called as instructed. I was given the latest info on our trailer's location and expected ETA in our new city. I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived to the local depot ahead of schedule and that dispatch contacted me to schedule delivery.
As part of scheduling delivery, I notified dispatch that the house was some distance from the street and was hoping that the trailer could be parked in the driveway near the street. She didn't think it would be a problem, but also said it would be to the driver's discretion.
On delivery day, the driver called to let me know when he expected to arrive. He was there on time. After arriving, he carefully surveyed our driveway before flawlessly backing the trailer down a pinetree-lined curving driveway to be close to our new house. Having the trailer so close to the house significantly cut down the time it would have taken to unload the semi if it had been near the street.
Once unloaded with assistance from local movers, I arranged for pick-up. The trailer was promptly picked up while I was running errands.
In addition to having friendly and helpful staff throughout the entire process, U-Pack's website and printed paperwork is easy to use and understand. There were no hidden surprises or fees. It was also comforting to track our trailer online.
While we initially thought the transit time seemed to be a long time not to have our belongings, it went by really quickly. While our belongings were being transported, we were traveling too in the comfort of one of our cars. Once in our new city, we were then busy with the house closing and other matters. It was a relief not having to be trying to unpack a rental van with all the other chores that needed attending.
Summary: ABF U-Pack is a first class operation from beginning to end. Highly recommend.

  10. Absolutely thrilled.

I was THRILLED with this whole experience. The Old Dominion Freight drivers were personable, friendly, and helpful - and ON TIME! The dispatchers were likewise helpful and informative.  And the truck with my things arrived well ahead of schedule. I couldn't be more satisfied.  THANK YOU, U-Pack! (Note: I suspect that U-Pack uses different freight line subcontractors. My experience with U-Pack and Old Dominion was wonderful. I wonder if the not-so-great experiences reported were with different subcontractors??).

  11. Upack.

I will not ever use this company again, if you are military don't ever think about using UPACK. This company will not work with you to find a solution, but they will take your money. WHETHER YOU ARE MILITARY OR CIVILIAN STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!! STAY AWAY!!                          .

  12. Bad service.

I will  never  use this  service  again. I got an email  telling  me truc  would  arrive  between   8:00 - 1200 noon which  is  what  I  was told   on the  phone. When no truck or a call from company  I called  and was told  it would  be  45 minutes  there was no ramp in the  truck . After an hour  I called   again told another  hour the  driver had a ways  to  go. The truck finally  arrived  2:50pm.  I was driving  across  country  and  had preprepaid hotels which  I  could  not  keep  s lost my deposit . I had calculated truck  gettng  there at noon   with 2 hours to pack. Since it was so late coukd not leave  until  the  next day  I called  customer  service  to complain  and the woman  who  answered  could care less and you  could  hear it in her voice  by the tone and her words. She state that the the 4 hourtime  frame  is just an estimate  that the truck  can arrive anytime. I sent an email  to  the  person who sold me the  server  and the person  who sent  me  an email  about  how prompt  they are and to schedule  a drop off. Neither  person  responded to my email. The truck  driver  told me he had been  working  13 hours he had  his normal  routes  to  run first. I was no priority to anyone. When  the  truck  was dropped  off  there was dust so thick  on everything  and I'm  allergic  to dust.  Don't  use them  especially  if  going  across  country.

  13. Okay, but you need to have room for a truck for 3 FULL days or more.

If you have room (driveway, suburban street) to park a trailer for three full business days, then U-Pack is fine. The price is great, the delivery times are great. You have to do a bunch of coordinating footwork yourself, but it is a good value.  If, however, you do not have ready room to park a trailer for three full days (like in an urban environment), be very careful in choosing U-Pack. They *will not* guarantee same day pickup of your trailer. They do not work on Saturdays or Sundays. Fridays are the absolute busiest days, and same day pickup will be virtually impossible, and you will have to park the trailer for 5 days - F, S, S, M, T.  If you can manage to arrange for 3 full days of trailer parking (plus weekend if your dropoff is a Friday), see above - the service is fine and well-priced.  Bottom line: if you are going to use U-Pack, the "three business days" thing does not mean "up to three business days". It means that you will have a trailer to deal with for three full days, at least. If that works with your locations, great. Everything else about the process was good for us. But if it doesn't work for your location, you might consider a different mover.

  14. Worst Moving Experience.

I'm not one to typically post reviews on companies was SO terrible that I couldn't not say something. I moved from Tennessee to Colorado and in turn had to pay for 4 extra days in a hotel because it didn't take "4-5 business days" to arrive. It took 9! They give you a tracking number and I followed it everyday. On the fifth business day it was in my new city but when I called to set up a time they said they wouldn't deliver it for four more days! I'm sorry but that just isn't acceptable. I don't have extra money to just stay in hotels waiting for them to drive 10 minutes to deliver a trailer. I would NOT recommend anyone to use this company! It ended up being the same price as our POD quote for terrible service!

  15. Outstanding.

Can't say enough good things.  Our second big move with uPack and it's all gone so smoothly.  And at such an affordable price.  This is definitely the best way to move. We hired folks to load/unload at either end.  It worked out great and both times nothing major was broken, hardly anything even minor.  Very pleased, thank you guys.  You have an excellent thing going.  .
